PaulHartman71
102nd minute: A chance for Burnley here perhaps. Babic with the ball, he's got Steve Dawes in the middle...IT'S STEVE DAWES....ohh and he's hit the post! So close for Burnley, yet so far!
PaulHartman71
105th minute: It's half-time in extra-time, it's still all square on aggregate and someone will need to find a goal in the last 15 minutes to prevent this from going to penalties. PaulHartman71
115th minute: A free kick for Sheffield Wednesday in a dangerous position. PaulHartman71
Dawes will go first for Burnley. He looks confident...the keeper goes the right way but he's smashed that into the top left corner! 1-0 Burnley! Clifton up for Wednesday. It's Clifton...keeper gets a hand to it...it looks like it riffles the side net of the goal...but NO! The ref and the linesman haven't given it?! Surely that went in? The net moved! Incredible scenes here! 1-0 Burnley, but the replay shows the net move! Salo taking a long run up for the home team. He's sent the keeper the wrong way! A great pen! 2-0 Burnley Hornero up for Wednesday. He smashes that home and the keeper got a slight hand to it but there's no way he was keeping that out! Burnley 2-1 Wednesday It is Henry next in line for the claret and blue of Burnley. Ohhh and that's an unbelievable penalty from Henry. He's sent the keeper the wrong way with an almost powerful paneka into the top left corner, that might be one of the best penalties you ever see! Burnley 3-1 Wednesday It will be Hooper to hit it next. He doesn't look confident...keeper goes the right way but Hooper finds the bottom left corner! Burnley 3-2 Wednesday Kirk for Burnley. It's a powerful shot and despite Alec Horne diving the right way, it has gone into the top left corner nonetheless! Burnley 4-2 Wednesday Matt Wright for Wednesday. He has to score to keep their Wembley hopes alive... It's MATT WRIGHT... OHHHH AND HE'S HIT THE BAR AND IT HAS COME FLYING OUT!!! Burnley will go to Wembley!!! But was that first penalty for Wednesday actually a goal, because it certainly looked like it might well have been!

PaulHartman71
There were a few surprises in the Premier League this season. Timm Klose lead Arsenal to their first Premier League title in just over 20 years, with the North London side being the first non-Chelsea/United team to win it for 15 years. Vedran Corluka's Chelsea side surprisingly slipped as low as 6th, with Jordan Henderson's Tottenham and Cesc Fabregas' Newcastle joining United and Arsenal in the Top 4. Danny Welbeck's Wolves also finished above Chelsea, finishing in 5th place. But Chelsea will still play in the Champions League next season, as Corluka lead his side to back-to-back Champions League wins. Man City came 7th and sacked Carlos Bacca, they've got in a regen manager to replace him. It was also the end of an era at Man United as legendary manager Darren Fletcher retired at 69 after 5 Premier League wins, 5 FA Cups, 3 Champions Leagues and numerous other trophies along the way. Perhaps the best part of his legacy is that he's pipped ahead of Sir Alex in the overall Hall Of Fame. Fletcher's replacement at United will be former Chelsea manager, Marcus Llorente, who has left his post at Juventus to join The Blues. He's been replaced at Juve by former PSG manager, Hulk. Hugo Lloris replaced him at PSG, with Lloris having been sacked by Real Madrid in January, who in turn saw himself replaced by former Benfica and Man City manager, Davy Klaasen. PaulHartman71
Season 37: Sheffield Wednesday Pretty gutted about the manner in which we went out of the Playoffs, Burnley were the better side but we got robbed with that disallowed penalty in the shoot-out. The money we've had pumped in makes me optimistic for next season though. Squad Collot came in on loan up-front and did a fairly good job, with Hornero too having a decent season by his standards despite missing some games through knocks and that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Season Club Division Position Achievements/Other --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2016/17 Ipswich Wanderers Eastern Counties Premier League 8th Eastern Counties League Cup winners 2017/18 Ipswich Wanderers Eastern Counties Premier League 11th Left in November --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2017/18 Coventry Sphinx Midland Football Premier League 13th N/A 2018/19 Coventry Sphinx Midland Football Premier League 10th Left in December -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2018/19 Carlton Town United Counties Premier League 8th United Counties League Cup runners-up. PaulHartman71
Also, just as an aside/preview to the new season: In this entire save of 37 seasons I haven't spent a single penny on transfer fees (apart from the odd signing on fee and agent fee), it's not even August yet and I've already spent £14M. PaulHartman71
Transfers I couldn't believe it when Zenit came in with £5.5M for Kherbache, he had a really underwelming season, so to get that kind of money for him was hilariously good luck. We also got £6M out of Norwich for our first choice keeper and LB, which is pretty decent since we can replace them fairly easily. Zeinstra and Lattie also left the club. A hell of a lot of players came in. We spent just over £19M as we went straight into the market to pick up a shed load of players. I tended to go for younger fringe players at the bigger sides as they were the ones the scout thought were the best, could be some resell value in a fair few of them too. I'll do a brief list of the players who will probably be in the first team rather than individual break downs as that would take too long: GK: Ernest Frimpong DR: Remi De Freitas DRC: Lester Charlery DLC: Jamie Sanders DL: Mike Kirsten D/MC: Steve Norman MR: Papa Cissokho MRL: Piotr Sloma MC: Leon Esters ST: Andreas Papoutsogiannopoulos ST: Mario Korczowski

PaulHartman71
August We made fairly short work of Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup 1st Round. A really poor loss to Coventry of League 1. I can't remember the last time I lost a cup game to a side in a lower division, so this was pretty annoying and embarrassing. Oh well. Only the League Cup init. A pretty solid start with 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss to Crystal Palace. The game with Luton was one hell of a game and it went 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 3-2, 3-3, until Hornero came off the bench and got us 2 goals to finally condemn Luton to a loss. PaulHartman71
September The month kicked off with another big goal game, this time with Leeds, thankfully we won it 4-3 largely due to Andreas' hat-trick. We went on a bit of a dip with 2 draws and a loss to Huddersfield, before comfortably beating Playoff rivals West Brom. 10 games gone and it's tight at the top of the table. We're firmly in the mix for now.
PaulHartman71
I had a quick look at the wage budgets as I was interested to see how higher up the table we'd got after our spending spree this summer: We're up to 8th, but it is pretty crazy to see that many sides still spending more than us. I suppose the majority of those have had PL football in recent years so would have more money, bigger budgets etc, but it really did feel like we were spending crazy money this summer. PaulHartman71
October A strong October saw us beat Middlesbrough, Burnley and Watford, with a solitary draw in our trip to Bolton. The 3 wins came against Playoff rivals though, so they were not just good, but valuable wins too. We're in 3rd place, but Norwich and Huddersfield are firmly within our grasp, although they do both have a game in hand on us. PaulHartman71
November The month started well as we came from behind to win at Bournemouth, before beating Birmingham 2-1. Southend managed to get the better of us in what proved to be a tricky away game in Essex, then we could only get a draw at home to fierce rivals Sheffield United. We probably should've won that as they're way down in 23rd place. We remain in 3rd place, with Huddersfield still within reach, but Norwich have put some distance between themselves and us. PaulHartman71
December A really poor month. A frustrating 4-3 loss at Ipswich, before 4 draws on the bounce. A frustrating period, where we lost a hell of a lot of ground on Huddersfield and Norwich, but then we somehow managed to beat Norwich 3-1 at the end of it. We're still 3rd despite the drop off in form, but the automatic places are not looking as attainable anymore going into the new year.

PaulHartman71
January We could only take League 1 Notts County to replay at our place. Absolute travesty to lose to them but that's what happens when you can't score and it goes to penalties. To go out to League 1 sides in both cup competitions this year is horrendous. 2 decent wins against Luton and Blackpool sandwiched inbetween a poor loss at Hull. We could also only draw at Palace. At least we put 5 past Blackpool though. Still in 3rd init
Mons
You'll need a bit more cutting edge up front to convert some of those draws into wins (and perhaps some of those defeats into draws as well). Interesting to see what you've done in the January transfer window. Quite curious as well to know what the board were asking for you. Surely, with that kind of transfer budget, they'd have expected a title tilt? Or were they happy enough with a playoff spot?

PaulHartman71
Karim Arkine was a pretty good squad player, but for someone who was only ever really used as a substitute, £3M was too much to turn down. We got in another youngster that was stuck getting no games at Bayern. Karner is a decent pick up and can play in CM and LB so he is fairly versatile, which is always useful too. PaulHartman71
April A really good month with 4 wins from 5, although considering how bad Brentford are we probably should've beaten them too, but I can't complain too much I suppose. It was good to win at Sheffield United too. We're right up there with 2 games to go. Our next game is Norwich away, if we can win that then who knows what could happen. We also have Bristol City (18th) at home on the last day. Norwich have us and Carlisle, whilst Huddersfield have an easier run in of Ipswich and Colchester. PaulHartman71
May Norwich were better than us on the day, we did recover to get a late draw to take things to the last day, but both sides won so we had no chance even if we did blow it by drawing at Bristol.
