Cleon
I often get a lot of messages in twitter, emails and PM’s on here asking what sites I use to research real life tactic and what blogs I read. So I thought it would be a great idea to give these sites some exposure and set a thread where we can keep adding all the Tactic and Training websites and blogs. There are some great blogs out there that get very little exposure from SI. So I’ve taken it upon myself to promote the ones I use and give them the chance to be seen by a bigger audience. If you all want to add blogs/sites that I may have not mentioned or know about, then feel free to post them in this thread and I’ll update the opening post to include them. If you do add something try and say a little something about the blog and the author/s so people have a general idea of what its about and so on. FM Websites http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/ - This is a very resourceful site with many tactics to be found. The forums are run by TheBetterHalf who many of you will know from off here. For me this is the first stop for people wanting to download tactics. You Tube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWUCWx5HNWSuzwGxwVczGPQ/playlists - Bust the Net You Tube channel, run by our very own Rashidi. Covers everything from Training, to Tactical Development, Squad Building and Club Management. Nothing else comes close. **NOTE** - some of the following blogs and websites no longer seem to be updated (as of 4/6/2016). Links have been left for the time being, however if anyone finds a broken link, please let a mod know. Links to disused sites have been removed. FM Blogs http://addictedtofm.com/This is run by Rashidi who is one of the 'originals' of this forum who have been discussing and writing about tactics for the past 10+ years. He understands the match engine and how the game works better than most. His blog is full of informative helpful articles and teach you how to play the game. http://www.mypassion4footballmanager.com This site is more tutorial based with some cracking articles. It also includes other stuff and isn't all tutorials. http://www.strikerless.com Guido's blog explores different ways of playing with a non-traditional forward line to allow for more compact defending and superior control of midfield. Guido's creative use of roles makes this one well worth following. http://www.sisportscentre.com Cleon's site covers a wide range of interesting topics including interviews with real coaches. His depth of knowledge about the game and his unmatched talent for clearly explaining its nuances make this essential reading for all FM players. SITES CURRENTLY NOT UPDATED http://www.pushthemwide.co.uk/ - This is one of (if not) the best FM blogs around at the moment. They’ve just moved to a new domain (the one I’ve linked) so technically not a blog anymore. The writing and insight these lads put in is second to none. You’ll find they cover everything FM related and update regular. The quality of the articles get better and better with each one they do. I’m not quite sure how they always manage to top the previous one but they do somehow. _ DEFUNCT POSSIBLY_ It’s also home to the Beginners Resource Pack which I highly recommend to everyone new or old to the game - http://pushthemwide.co.uk/blog/beginners-resource-pack/ http://footballmanagerveteran.wordpress.com/ - This little beauty of a blog is run by Shrewnaldo. It’s updated all the time and he always delivers top quality content. You get a real insight into how he plays the game as you can follow him throughout his FM career. That isn’t all he offers though, he has articles varying from all aspects of the game. A must read for everyone. He’s also a really helpful person on twitter and can often be found offering advice to fellow FM’ers. _LAST UPDATE 2016 http://footballmanageranalysis.wordpress.com/ - This one is run by Lee who like Shrewnaldo can also be found helping people on twitter. The blog itself is brilliant for people who like to learn the ins and outs of the game. All his articles are really in-depth and give you an insight into how tactics work or might not work. You’ll find a vast range of helpful posts on here. - LAST UPDATE 2015 http://footballmanagerfocus.wordpress.com/ Run by Paul Cook. He was one of the lucky ones who got the game off Santa so wasn’t posting about FM13 in the earlier months. However he’s not posting about his FM13 save and again his current save is shaping up nicely and no doubt he’ll give you lots of discussion points as he tries and establish himself in Hungary. His older FM12 posts are also highly rated by me and a must read for all. LAST UPDATE 2013 http://longshotseverywhere.wordpress.com/ This is a new blog, in fact it only appeared this week but is already shaping up to be a great addition to the blogging community. It’s run by Acidphire21 who is known for his exceptional career thread in the career section of the SI forums. Even though its early days he is already showing he has great way of translating his thinking into FM. - LAST UPDATE 2013 **NOTE** - These blogs have been left in here, those that have broken links have been removed. Real Football Sites http://www.squawka.com/ - This is the number one site around for stats and analysis. For me this is the ultimate site and offers everything a user would need. You can track individual player stats, team stats, heatmaps and a host of other stuff. http://www.zonalmarking.net/ - I don’t think this one needs an introduction. http://www.whoscored.com/ - Is another cracking little site that allows you to track things like stats and also offers you with facts and figures for all the popular leagues across the world. EPL Index- If you enjoy stats then you'll love this site, although some features do require a subscription Chalkontheboots A very active site that offers world football tactical analysis and insight. Tictactic A Scottish based site that offers a great insight into the tactical side of the SPL. http://11tegen11.net Is Dutch football your thing? Then you'll like this. http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/tacticsandanalysis?cc=5739# it has an excellent variety of well informed blogs, focussing on everything from team tactics, individual player stats, and historical overviews and comparisons. http://fourfourtwo.com/ Everyone knows this household name surely? http://spielverlagerung.com This German site offers in-depth tactical analysis of recent matches with its best articles regularly translated into English. Its tactical theory section includes some excellent and thorough explanations of some of the cutting edge concepts in tactical theory. http://inbedwithmaradona.com/ Is good but weird to navigate. http://you-are-the-ref.com/ The game seen through the eyes of refs http://www.scotzine.com/ Fantastic for all your Scottish football needs http://runningtheshowblog.wordpress.com/ a small blog but covers different leagues http://bundesligafanatic.com/ For the Bundesliga fans http://www.readtheleague.com/ free online football magazine covering world football http://www.licencetoroam.net/ Covers all kinds of different European leagues http://frenchfootballweekly.com/ All bout French football and they also do a podcast http://www.insidespanishfootball.com/ For La Liga http://www.just-football.com/ covers world football http://www.benefoot.net/ All about Belgian and Dutch football http://www.football-oranje.com/ Another Dutch football site http://theinsideleft.com/ Not your typical football articles http://forzaitalianfootball.com/ Italian football http://theballisround.co.uk/ Non league football blog I will add to this again a little later but this should be enough to get you all started. Remember feel free to post yours so we can make the list even bigger.
Jad123
Thanks for the mention Cleon, very kind There's some really great sites around at the moment, it's probably the best the community has been for a long time. There are fewer active forums but the ones that are still going are great and it's led to some awesome blogs springing up. Well worth adding any of them to your Google Reader or Evernote to keep on top of all the stuff being produced.
Shrewnaldo
Cheers for the mention, Cleon. Appreciated. I think this thread is a great resource for people looking for a little bit of extra information across the community; whilst also offering some much needed publicity to us small fry. Once again, much appreciated.

Thanks again Cleon
RTHerringbone
As mentioned by arcadius, http://11tegen11.net/ is a really good site focussing on Dutch football. Some similar analysis to zonalmarking, but also some alternative metrics which attempt to take the noise of form away from hard statistical analysis of performance. ESPN is actually a bit of a surprise to me, it has an excellent variety of well informed blogs, focussing on everything from team tactics, individual player stats, and historical overviews and comparisons http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/tacticsandanalysis?cc=5739 And there's always good old Four Four Two: http://fourfourtwo.com/

Skuli
I found this coach calculator a couple of weeks ago and have thought it good enough to share and well worth anyone taking five minutes to have a look. El_Loco7
Thanks for the links Cleon I love reading good quality football articles. This one by Chalkontheboots is right up my street. It reminds me of a WorldSoccer article rather than a mainstream BBC or SkySports 'expert' column. Saying that though, I read a decent article by Tim Vickery - he's a very good writer - called Messi's Man on the new Barcelona coach. That was well worth a read. El_Loco7
It's really hard to find good real football content to read on a regular basis, I'm wondering if anyone knows a few more than the ones listed at the top of the page? To add to the list: www.worldsoccer.com I sometimes buy the magazine and it really is fantastic. Really meaty articles and insights into (you guessed it) football from around the World. Cleon
I'll update this list again in the coming days. But you might like these El_Loco7, these are the sites I follow regular.
