Dave.
Republic of FM - A Trillonaire's Playground EXTRACT FROM AN UNNAMED NEWSPAPER It is July 2008, and the world's richest man, Freidrich Manngeld - entrepeneur, owning several multinational companies, sports teams, and the country of Scotland - has announced plans that will shock the world of football, and indeed the world itself. Manngeld had announced the renaming of Scotland several weeks ago as the "Republic of Freidrich Manngeld", or "FM" as it is to be known. A keen follower of football, the German has decided to set about creating the best league in the world, and has installed himself as head of the FM FA. Instead of sticking with a 'mediocre' and 'lacklustre' league, as he has donned the country's current setup, it is Manngeld's intention to create a multinational league system, with a newly-formed club from every one of the world's top ranked nations, all competing for glory. Unfortunately for Manngeld, his plans did not come to pass. FIFA would not sanction the overhaul of such an established football league system, and protests from the larger clubs, notably Celtic and Rangers, eventually persuaded the German to give up the ghost. But he didn't stop there. For almost three years, Manngeld has been working tirelessly, and has finally revealed plans of his latest football venture. This was helped to no end by the unstable natures of six North American Football Associations*, who Manngeld quickly took over. The countries, none of which are fully affiliated with FIFA, have agreed, for footballing purposes only, to be renamed as the "Republic of Friedrich Manngeld" under different confederations, whilst his old state of the same name has reverted to its former name of Scotland. Manngeld's plan is to create the largest Club World Championship, all in one place. Every FIFA registered nation in the world is invited to have a team representing them, and will be run by some of the richest people in the world. The teams are to be sorted into divisions based on their continent or region, with no swapping between these continental divisions. However, there will be a cup competition which involves each team in the FM FA, as well as one for the winners of each continent, and various cup competitions for each continent internally. Opponents of the plan have hinted that Manngeld has had a similar plan rejected two years ago, but the German bluntly rejects this notion. Whatever the history of his ventures, this time he is adamant that his creation will be a success. (Anybody who signed up to the 2010 version of this will know it didn't really get off the ground, and I offer my apologies again for that. This time however, I have a lot more free time and am confident that this'll be successful.) So, where do I come in? Manngeld has asked for the richest men and women in the world to found a club to take part in his new league. Knowing you may be interested, he has asked you to fill out the following form, in order to enter a team into his league setup. You have as long as you want to fill out and return the form, but Manngeld is operating on a first-come-first served basis, and the top nations are in high demand. Divisions with more than one tier will be sorted by reputation of nations, with the higher rep nations having teams in higher tiers. A full list of eligible nations, in their division, will follow. THE FORM Nationality: Name of Club: Chairman Name: Chairman stats will be random, with the exception of loyalty. Don't want you leaving, do we? Home Kit: Away Kit: Stadium Name: Preferred Manager: Chairmen have been granted £100m each to spend on the following areas: Youth facilities (£1m per level): Youth academy (£10m): Training facilities (£1m per level): Stadium Size (starts at 15000, £5m for each additional 5000): Reputation (starts at 3000, £4m for each additional 500): Transfer Funds: Bank Balance Whatever is left over: Rules Regarding Form The name of club must be fictional, and match the selected nationality. Names considered inappropriate or not consistent with the side's nationality will be subject to reconsideration. Manngeld has taken into account that there is unlikely to be enough people rich and willing enough to partake in his football league, but has stated that between himself and other associates, who will buy clubs and assign acting chairmen to them, will be able to fill the entire quota if need be. He has set a deadline of 0000 HOURS, TUESDAY 1 MAY for prospective owners to declare their interest and make serious bids. The aim of the game is simple, support your team to the end! In terms of your involvement after the initial selection process, all you will be able to do is sack your manager when you feel necessary or appropriate. You may appoint any manager you wish to take over, on the condition that they are not associated with any other club in the FM FA. Unattached managers are free to sign, whereas managers in a job will mean compensation. Choose wisely. The AI will take care of all other matters for you! As well as the league and countless cup competitions, one of the side aims is for your club to help boost your nation's fortunes, by developing players. There will also be seasonly competitions with a number of prizes up for grabs. These may be decided by in-game AI occurrences, or may require you to partake in something in the game thread. Anything can, and anything will happen, and Freidrich Manngeld eagerly awaits your application. *the North American countries who have agreed to help Manngeld with his competition are: Guadaloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Sint Maarten, Saint Martin and Saint Pierre and Miquelon. Honoured to have you on board. Meant to ask actually - how is the average attendance figure set in the database? Same for everyone? Percentage of capacity? Yeah, I'm going for the long haul. No money, but a decent manager can handle that, but a strong set of kids and and means to train them. Might be foolhardy. Who knows!

As a percentage, yes. Roughly in line with most of the larger real clubs, the attendance field will be set to that of the stadium capacity, the minimum attendance to 60%, and the maximum to 125%. It would be unfair to expect people to spend big on stadiums which gives them no advantage over teams with smaller grounds. Hopefully some decent crowds will be attracted. I think I may be going quite risky but it will be interesting to see how it works out. Looks like me and TWFL will be Rivals *Shakes Fist* Yeah haha but we won't be able to play each other much because of the continental divisions. Dave.
How will we get our players? Will there be a free list for which our managers will fashion a team together, or will you do a draw or what? No - the 'Add Players to Playable Clubs' option will be ticked at the start of the game, and teams will have to rely on both this and their youth system in order to fashion an initial team. And the manager's transfer dealings of course. I want to keep all real players at their current clubs. Do we have to sort out wages? From experience, this will be set in relation to the team's transfer budget and balance, but shouldn't be too high at the start of the game to cause any problems. ri916
Shouldnt their be an option for youth recruitment/junior coaching as those are the things that actually affect the quality of the youth players coming through.

Dave.
Shouldnt their be an option for youth recruitment/junior coaching as those are the things that actually affect the quality of the youth players coming through. Hopefully that comes under youth facilities. I've kept it simple - in my eyes the Youth Academy will affect the quality of coaching - this attribute is 20 with an academy and 10 without. Each club also has a youth recruitment of 20.
