Podolski and Ozil were great, Khedira too

...but Müller was clearly the best.

Always was a little ashamed when the German commentator said that Ozil didnt deserve yellow as it clearly was no dive...come on...you could show it at soccer classes to teach what a dive is haha.

What.... now that was a clear and good example of a dive, stupid German commentator :thdn:

Was that Marcel Reif? I didn't hear him saying that. Or maybe I did but I didn't pay attention. The guy rambles on and on and on, 90 minutes long. A human vuvuzela :D

I dont like the vuvuzelas but prefer them to Reif, hate him for always commentating bayern matches and rooting against them, and even making it obvious in his commentaries.

But in this case it was Bela Rethy.

I'm glad I kept faith in Miro. :)

Well its not like he had a huge game, he profited from a goalie mistake and on the other side missed a sitter. His game was rather average. Still i think its always good to have him on the pitch at WC. There might be more to come from him. On the othe rhand i think Kießling really deserved a chance. As long as Gomez doesnt play all is fine i guess.

How come you don't like Mario? I know he's got the touch of a donkey, but he's not that bad.

Mario just doesnt cut the mustard for Germany, at Stuttgart he scored a lot of goals, but he was the only one really having all the chances, he probably had like 20 chances a game and scored 2 goals, everyone loved him. He just doesnt seem to do much, Klose was fighting against the Aussies and Gomez just walks about and doesnt seem interested, rather see Kießling come on and give it a bash.

Both applies to Kiessling as well though. He has a higher work rate but even worse technique and finish than Gomez. Fortunately Loew isn't blinded by some statistics without context but tries looking for genuine quality in a player.

The ref was really really poor. But why Löw didnt take off Poldi I dont know, let alone letting him take the pen! Schweini been taking pens and scoring, it just wasnt meant to be their day, they certainly deserved something out of the game thats for sure.

The fact that Löw left Podolski on for the whole 90 minutes really confuses me. I agree that Schweinsteiger should've took the penalty. After all, he isn't Polish and doesn't run the risk of missing it! :D

This I can understand, as Poldi normally always delivers for the German team, so letting him stay, mmmhhhh OK

but..

let alone letting him take the pen! Schweini been taking pens and scoring,
This is the biggest mistake of the German team yesterday imo.

:D

Haha this is clearly not true. :D Tens of years without a Meisterschaft must have affected their brains...

P.S. Just had a look at Wiki and learned Reif is polish too. I sense a hostile takeover of German football. That penalty was the first part of a late revenge for WWII. ;-)

Yes they do, as in priciple every team has always a chance of winning when playing a game, but I think you will win, narrow escape (or as the Dutch say, win the German way), winning goal in the last 5 minutes.

Read in some red top headline that Löw will go, should Germany fail to qualify. I don't think it's a real possibility though. Under normal circumstances, this is a comfortable win for Germany, no two ways about it.

Schalke fans tend to disagree. :D

When I first read this, I thought it was about the 20 years of waiting being enough :D

Germany vs England is going to be exciting.

I second that.

What's the news on Schweinsteiger?

Nothing has been confirmed yet, he seems to have muscular problems. They don't know yet whether he can play on Sunday or maybe they don't want to give it away.

If Bastian is unfit, who will start in his place?

I think Löw wants to play with two DM, so I don't presume he will go for Kroos. Basically every defensive player could be fielded. Here are my thoughts about some:

- Aogo: Sometimes plays that position but is very inexperienced

- Tasci: Can play the position but also quite inexperienced

- Lahm: Once played DM in the national team and did well but the question is whether we can do without him as DR

- Jansen: Hmm, pacey.. could man-mark Rooney

- Friedrich: Experienced but I think Löw prefers to keep his current DC's in place

- Boateng: gets many yellow cards anyway.. playing him as a DM would most certainly end with a yellow-red card

- Badstuber: Has fallen from grace a bit after the Serbia game, I don't think that Löw wants to experiment with him on the crucial DM-position.

He has tested Kroos as DM in a friendly (and was satisfied with his disciplined perfomance, way I heard it) and he used him yesterday in a vital game as Schweinsteiger sub. I think it's a real possibility.

To me, Kroos would be the logical replacement, Schweinis role is more box to box than only DM and Kroos may be less of a defender but on his day his offensive game is as good as Schweinis.

Yeah, would prefer Kroos if Basti fantasti can't play, any news on him...

Bit of a bugger, will be in the car during the England - Germany game, on my way to Neuss, hope to catch the last part of the game in my hotel.

In his new role in the centre Schweinsteiger has been playing extremely deep for club and country. In FM terms he has been converted to an anchor man.

All three of Khedira, Kroos and Oezil are rather poor defensively. Playing them together as the central three in a 4-2-3-1 and adding Podolski on top should lead to some hilarious results.

blurps summed it up perfectly, Schweinsteiger would be a huge loss because Germany cant make up for his defensive play on DM . Kehdira is the only halfway reliable DM apart from him and he already plays the spot as 2nd more offensive 6 along Schweinsteiger normally. So we needed a DM backup that can excel in defensive duties while also being creative in play opening. Non to be seen by a mile for me. Solution will be to play 2 offensive midfielders with Khedira playing the sole defensive part in midfield. Very risky.

Real Result.

The current players goals are disallowed for Germany, because there not german.

Podolski - Polish

Klose - Polish

Referee found to be bend with Franz Beckenbauer, just like with Michel Kitabdjian in 1975 (European Cup Final)

Frank Lampard Goal allowed.

Germany 2 - 2 England

(4-5 to England Penalties)

except both are German, being both of German descent. a little thing called WW2 shifted the borders and trapped Grandparents in modern day Poland. Klose even has a German father.

Well done to Germany.

I'll be supporting you lot from now on as you have the right attitude towards the game.

do one you utter joke

i can see why you wanna make excuses though, just can't accept what i seen today can you?

a completely outplayed england team

No not really. Everything after the disallowed goal becomes invalid.

So if your asked to compile a report for work that could earn you an promotion, you spend weeks on it, pouring your blood, sweat and tears into it. Then you hand it in and the boss tells you that the requirements have changed, how willing would you be, to spend the same amount of time on the report ?

See this what wrong with this country, there pre colonel guilt in england and you love to support the rest of the world, instead of getting behind the manager and the team, we should not allow our press to hunt our players like dogs and there should be no pressure on them from the supporters. Instead we enjoy seeing things fail, that why you won't stick up for the team, when an perfectly good goal is not given.

Technically The Serbs, as Franz Ferdinand as killed ehence kicking off loads of treaties signalling the start of WW1, then the Treaty of Versailles was written by the French and British to nearly destroy Germany, USA didn't want anything to do wit hit as they knew it'd cause another war, then that triggered responses from all the nationalists including many Putschs and assassinations against the Socialists, and the wall Street Crash destroyed the German economy meaning that in the next election the publi went to the only option they saw fit to run the country, which sadly was a big mistake as the party they chose was the NSDAP. So it's all a bit complicated.
