"We had put in the work and gathered the results we were looking for. I am satisfied for once but the top of one mountain is the bottom of the next." Earl of Grey

Season 6 - 28/29

We did challenge the play off spots first time and dropped out of it just the last match day. This season feels like a huge step forward. It seems like getting rid of those work rate 4-5 players was a good decision. We had our casts of bad form but find out of it much earlier. Again Billericay is a spot for strikers we have so many, we can't play them all and if we do, they score.

Nothing changed my approach is still the one which I did describe a few postings above regarding tactics and squad DNA. We sadly can't develop our facilities but the Earl is bagging badges. After a take over we are now in a positive bank balance which is really strong. The Earl managed to avoid first time mistakes with the money and we could finish the season financially positive as well.

Under 18s

Our junior team won the league title again. Last year we were second behind Dulwich who we put in second place this year. There is a rivalry growing between us and Dulwich Hamlet because of the title challenges in the last three years. It's great! As with the last intakes in general this year was no different a bit disappointing. No elite talents and no one strong enough to challenge for first team. We go into next season with the same team.

Goals for oncoming season

"We want a play off spot! We can't stay in this division forever."

Of course we are relegation candidates still ...

SEASON 29 ! THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS A SLOG

League.thumb.png.bcdeca0b19b24f501fc9ef3eaa0ecc49.png

Another solid season in the league and a 13th place finish. We are climbing closer and closer to the top half and the European places. But its a bit of a slog.

Elite.thumb.png.6ee5dc40ed76e76d22c7967c90df71a6.png

Our youth intake was looking good again. Very excited about the Sol Campbell & Paul Scholes hybrid newgen!

Good.thumb.png.3b6b6a045853c63f1c35e8b5b5103f66.png

And some good talents coming through too... But they'll have their work cut out.....

U21sEFL.thumb.png.90679e3f12a5fed66cb9a81520e758e2.png

The U21s won the EFL Trophy! Which is a monumental achievement and their first piece of "senior" silverware. We are creating winners now!

U18s.thumb.png.b2ae2bb90c5c0ea9ecb97db40b48e89f.png

The U18s also won the Premier League Cup! So both youth teams are absolutely flying.

U18sPenloss.thumb.png.8d0e5a6134e48ddf86349a85a115b2b9.png

Ultimately though they lost out to Spurs on penalties in the U18 Premier League Final (where North play South!)

Youth.thumb.png.f91d080d3bd9fbf4e0068362d7967153.png

The board agreed to increase the youth category.

And no surprise really. given our immense financial situation.

On we go to Season 30 ! Unbelievable really. What  save. I loved this series.

Aachen - Germany

Bundesliga 2055/56

Season Summary

League - really frustrating. Lost the opening two games, never really recovered, missed out on Champions League next season

56leaguetable.JPG.4a5a18658a768c997001087306693bdf.JPG

Champions League - we did much better, particularly in the league section, finishing high enough to avoid the play-off. got Liverpool in quarter final and we did alright, just not quite good enough though.

So, at least another two seasons if I'm gonna complete this thing! Couple of new wonderkids come through, so you never know!

Any chance of seeing the wonderkids? How's Pascal doing?!

Season 3

Results

Started well but results dropped off towards the end of the season. Mainly due to our senior players significantly dropping off due to age. With most of our senior players around 34/35 and our youth players not quite ready, I see a difficult 1-2 seasons ahead before the youth players from intake 1 & 2 start hitting their potential. Fingers crossed I get some ready made youth players in the next intakes to make things easier.

Development

Bello has continued to develop well and is now a good player at this level. Retrained Femmino into a DM to fill the hole in the midfield left by senior players. Roversi has also established a regular first team place at RB.

Youth Intake

Better youth intake this year with the help of upgraded YR/JC, got some potential coming through at DC and AM which is very needed. Vitale has already gone straight into the first team even though is he’s not ready, the rapid ageing of our key players is hurting.

Facilities

JC is maxed out with YR almost there. Board keep rejecting YR upgrade even though we have 2m in the bank. Had the money to upgrade to state of the art training, which was a massive financial hit but I think we might benefit with players reaching their potential sooner.

yeah, sorry about that, i was so mad about missing out on Champions League at the end I forgot all the rest!

Here's the two new wonderkids:-

Marcel Breyer 52A

56breyer.thumb.JPG.e50fe6234fb4dafe9f8b800c6db3bfd5.JPG

looked like a potential wonderkid since day 1 and went straight into the first team at 17. Physicals still need a bit of work but he looks like he'll be amazing for years to come. Won golden boy, only my second ever player to do it!

Ilkka Lehtinen 53D

56lehtinen.thumb.JPG.b809ee6fb5762200613416c4081dc4a6.JPG

Finnish, can play up front and centre mid as well as AMC. Made debut for Finland at 17, made 19 appearances scoring 13 goals before declaring for germany once he became eligible! at the minute pencilled in as long term replacement for meier

There's 2 or 3 16 year olds I have a feeling might be wonderkids also, so looking quite good at the minute

Pascal Meier

Poor season from him last season, only scored 56 in 46 games! honestly, he's ludicrous. Won his 9th consecutive balon d'or

56meier.thumb.JPG.8137642d54d86e90115efec7db41e0c2.JPG

Still hopefully got a few years left in him. He is key to me completing this challenge soon i think.

Season summary

As expected, a very tough first season. With only 12 players, we did not have a lot of room for experiments tactic-wise or subbing someone in to have an impact. This meant there was only one logical goal this season; avoid relegation at all cost. Especially before the winter break, with no league games from mid-November until March, we did a good job. No real relegation fear, ranked 9th in the league.

However, the second half of the season was just terrible. More injuries, suspensions, but also just less quality in our game. To be honest, I was not too sure we would make it, but in the end we got 7 more points then the second last. A little bit of a miracle, knowing we lost 8 of our last 9 games (drawing the other one).

Player of the Season

Has to be our star player Buchel, who had a huge impact on our survival in the 2.Liga. Average rating of 7.00, providing 7 assists and scoring 2 goals. He is - by far - the best player in our squad and also delivered on the pitch. It is a shame next season will probably be his last at our club, since his contract expires then and he is not keen on singing a new one for now.

Youth intake

Say hello to our very first youth players! We desperately needed them to reinforce our small squad, so 14 out of the 16 youngsters signed a youth contract.

Not too sure about their quality or potential as most of our current players are not that great to say the least. Right back Dubec is the most promising new guy, next to goalie Macho and defensive mid Gajdos. Let’s see how they all develop.

End of Season Review

Season 2023/24

SC Preußen Münster

4jwfyXc.png

Season Summary

We overachieved by finishing in the top five this year.  We were not invovled in the domestic cup though.

Season Details

League Table - A fifth place finish is definitely exceeding expectations, though we flirted with the top three for most of the season so it is disappointing to miss out.

League Fixtures 1 & 2 - We went off like a train though we were soon reigned in as our form dipped and was especially poor in the new year.

Friendlies - We only lost two matches in what was a very satisfying pre season campaign.

Squad - We do have some good players though we lack the ability to challenge for the top two I think.  They are also an ageing squad.

Squad Dynamics - This is good though could be even better.

Transfers In - None.

Transfers Out - We sold two players including our best player, with a hefty sell on clause as he was crying himself silly about wanting to join a bigger club.  We also allowed players who would never be good enough to leave on free transfers.

Youth Candidates - It was a decent enough first intake with left back Andrea Steinbauer YP24A1 being the standout player.

Finances - We lost a considerable amount of money this year and may need to sell some players to help balance the books.

Key Players

Marc Lorenz - The veteran left winger enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career.

Thorben Deters - Comfortable in most places in midfield, he dictated many games.

Andrew Wooten - The former Americal international was used primarily umfront and he paid my faith in him by scoring 20 goals in 36 appearances.

Alexander Hahn - The experienced central defender was a rock for us.

Shaibou Oubeyapwa - The Togolese international right winger had a fine campaign until injury curtailed his season.

Next Season

I would love to challenge for a promotion playoff spot.

Oghab Tehran Season Review (32/33)

League:

A resurgent Persepolis gave us a run for our money, winning convincingly their first 12 games before they met their city rivals. We beat them 3 times this year, leaving no doubt who rules this division now. We win the league for the 3rd time straight. Did we also had success in other fronts...?

Cup:

We made the double! We were incredibly lucky with the draw, meeting only one top division team before the final. That team was Persepolis, though, but we beat them at their grounds. In the final we were too strong for Tractor. We'll soon need a bigger trophy cabinet!

Champions League:

We won the title and cup, but how we did we do in the CL? Did we win the magical treble and finish this challenge?

We did amazingly in the group stage, despite being drawn with top teams from UAE, Qatar and Saoudi Arabia. We won our group to advance to the 2nd round, where we challenged Al Shabab (KSA), with the likes of Ferran Torres in their ranks. We couldn't be stopped though, winning both games and advancing to the quarter finals. There we had to take on our Iranian brethren of Fajr Sepasi. I was pretty optimistic, but the result was way closer than expected. We advanced on away goals, drawing 0 -0 at home and 2-2 away.

Shabab Al-Ahli (UAE) were our next opponents. We won the first leg at home 2-1 and dreams of champions league glory started to sink in. Alas, it wasn't to be! In a heartbreaker we lost the away leg 1-0. Our right back decided to take 2 yellow cards in a span of 2 minutes putting us down 10 man with 30 minutes to go. Even then, in the closing minutes, our star striker Majid Abedzadeh missed a chance he normally scores with his eyes closed. No final for us this year, but we take heart that we're very very close!

The talent:

Amir Hossein Khorshidi (GK): Caveat, at the time of the intake he had 15's for Reflexes and Handling. Even though, this is an amazing young goalkeeper to get through the intake. He's our 3rd best and will get plenty of time to develop.

NXGN:

Amazingly, we have a player on the NXGN list! Majid Abedzadeh (intake of 31) entered the list positioned 43rd. He might be our first wonderkid. How long we will be able to keep him, that remains to be seen, with the likes of Benfica and Porto sniffing around.

Transfers:

In what is a yearly tradition, we lose our best players to teams from the Arabian peninsula. Iman Souri (intake of 28), would have become unsettled if he wasn't allowed to speak with Al-Taawoun. We managed to negotiate that he could stay until the end of the season, probably taking a bit less transfer revenue in return. He's leaving us for 400K, but more importantly, a 50% sell-on clause, which will be worth a couple of millions.

Upgrades and finances

Our 30K capacity stadium is paying off, allowing us to rack in the dinars due to gate receipts. We managed to upgrade our facilities twice, which will bring them both to Above Average (I think, not sure what comes after Average)

Best XI

Defensively we remain poor and that's probably what's keeping us from winning the CL. Midfield and offence remain very strong, although with the loss of Iman Souri, we'll need some other players stepping up.

Grindavik - Season 1 - Icelandic First Division - 2nd

After taking the role as Grindavik Manager in November 2022, I very quickly hired a new HoYD Manager (Jón Ólafur Daníelsson), as the previous one was lacking and didn't suit my tactical styles. The quality in the squad was already pretty decent for the division I was in, despite the team sitting at around 5th- 7th when I took over.

My preseason campaign was extremely successful for a club with poor finances, management and future, in which I beat several top division teams by as high as 4-0 and made it to the final of the League Cup A final (before bottling it with a 3-0 loss to Stjarnan).

League: The actual league was pretty good - I only lost 5 games in the entire season, which was very good for my team. However, I did end up with a lot of draws and ties, which throttled my promotion bid. After a 5 game win streak, I found myself top of the league in my first season joining, with a decent point difference between myself and second. However, I (again) bottled the top spot by losing 2 games and winning 1, which placed myself in 2nd, which at least guaranteed a spot in the playoffs. Finally! My club was in an extremely strong position!

image.thumb.png.2f2d576938fa938b7e491ba51bc96f00.pngScreenshot2023-07-17at16_32_30.thumb.png.0d0dbd6974db032f0004103c8f328742.png

I bottled the playoffs. I felt extremely confident after a 2-0 crushing of Afturelding in the first leg of the Semi-Final, but they subsequently thrashed me 4-0 in the second leg, knocking me out of the promotion contention. Whilst this was a big setback for me and the squad, I still believe I will get promotion next season.

Youth Intake:

I (very annoyingly) forgot to take a screenshot of my predicted Youth Intake, but it was terrible. Nothing was above a C, and I was filled with dread - the defenders, which I particularly needed, was predicted at an E. However, they were actually pretty decent, with Brynjar Óskarsson being a particular highlight, and having incredible potential as a GK. Whilst there were no strikers in any of the notable youth talents, I was pretty confident with the ones I already have, so that's not a massive issue for now. I haven't been able to request improved youth facilities, but hopefully I'll be able to do it during the winter/next season. Overall, a decent youth intake, but big gaps that need to be filled very soon.

Transfers/Players:

In this season, only one player was moved from the Reserves squad to the senior squad, because everyone was, honestly, just not good enough to fit into the first team squad. No players were sold this season - one was sent out on loan, Andri Daði Rúriksson, as he needs more playing time to fulfil his potential. The highlight player of the season is probably Dagur Ingi Hammer, who racked up 22 G/A in 30 appearances, a pretty good amount.

image.png.8d6d81691bfe353bdfb8481cf16f2945.png

Overall:

In summary, this has been a very good start to my managerial campaign at Grindavik in the Youth Academy challenge - I have strong faith in my squads current ability, and I hope that I will achieve promotion next season.

I am back with this challenge and once again I have given it a go in Denmark. Starting club is Holbæk B&I and manager is Rolf Sørensen former cyclist.

Skrmbillede(8).png.1a73594a8775bc538a594d1fe96e0bac.png

Squad at start of the game is fairly good, but we lost a few players immediately due to our amateur status

We had a fairly good intake although personalities are mixed (Im not sure to how to show only youth intake in squad view, so its just from the develelopment center for now).

Best players include these guys who could play a role from the start, but just with a balanced personality though.

In the league we were looking very promising for promotion, but in the promotion fase we completely dropped the ball and in the end we had to settle for 3rd place. Im not too sad though since I dont think the 2. Division would do much for us at this point, since we would likely struggle there and money wise its not much better anyway.

Season 4 Review Alemannia Aachen

Youth Intake:

image.png.b05b658bd78d7aed2291a95237ddb832.png

These are the elite talents. With our Youth Recruitment now being exceptional, we're really getting a lot of them.

League Table:

image.png.51fa3b752ca740f288aa5fb47c4e07d6.png

Decently comfortable in mid table, 13 points away from relegation playoff. Next season aiming for a top half finish. In the cup we went out in the second round again, this time to 1. FC Köln.

Youth players starting that didn't last season:

image.thumb.png.a76ab33d754d7fb95901e9e5dc1f34b6.png

I'm getting kinda short on CBs that are under 35, so I'm really hoping for a few next season. Also a right back would be great.

[FM22] SK Zestaponi - season 4 - 2025

First season in top division and we're already earned a spot in Conference League. There was even a chance for a title as we were leading the table for a few rounds but then we had a winless streak of 4 games (with both Dinamos in it). All in all it's a great season.

That's how the squad looks now. The generation change already came to this point where most of my rotation is made of our academy youngsters. Some of them developed really fast (like Tamaz Abesadze), some are now natural at newly trained positions, I still need more depth at wings - Manfred Erbs has good attributes to try him at left wing so that's the plan for next season.

s25squad.thumb.png.f1cc2622e4a5623bb32f4919e9e4f7fe.png

It's pretty funny that end of season review showed growth of clubs reputation but at the same time board thinks otherwise.

One more thing, look at the annual salaries. Dinamo Batumi spends almost twice as much as all other clubs combined. They should easily destroy this league every year but they didn't won past two years and this season they had to fight until last game.

I've decided to return to this challenge one last time this years FM. I've tried a lot of teams and leagues this version but nothing sticks or it just goes to hell. Now I will try to with Tours FC, the reason why I chosen them is because their great facilities and a pretty big stadium. Note that I had to holiday for two seasons to get them promoted to the playable third division.

Indonesia - Persitara Jakarta Utara: Season 7 Review (2028)

Club Status and Reputation - Persitara Jakarta Utara (Persitara) had a remarkable season, elevating their club status and reputation in Indonesian football. They concluded the season as the 4th highest reputation team in the country, two places higher than the previous year, with a solid 1.5-star national reputation.

Domestic League - BRI Liga 1: Winner
In the fiercely competitive BRI Liga 1, Persitara displayed outstanding performances and emerged as the champions. Oghab Tehran Season Review (33/34)

League:

No 4th title in a row. Apparently there is something called U23 Asian Cup which takes place in the middle of the season, which took away 5 of my starters. At the same time we were dealing with a bit of an injury crisis which put us behind the eight ball for the entire season. At the end we come 1 point close to succeed ourselves as league winners.

Cup:

No cup success this season as well. We were knocked out in the 1/4 finals by Tractor on penalties.

Champions League:

So no luck in the league or the cup, but all we need to finish this challenge is the CL. Surely, we did it this season? Unfortunately, not. We stormed through the group stage, winning every game. In the 2nd round we had the chance to enact revenge on Shabab Al-Ahli, who denied us the final last season. Things were looking good after winning the first leg at home 1-0, but just like last season we bottled it in the return leg and we lose 2-0. Early exit and 0/3 in trophies this season.

Transfers

No major outgoing transfers. LAFC made a huge bid for our star striker Majid Abedzadeh, but he turned them down. However, we are in danger of losing 2 starters on a free as they refuse to sign new deals.

Best XI

We might have a competition for our starting goalkeeper spot, with Maziar Motahari (intake of 31) nibbling on the heels of our current starter Hojat Kazemian (intake of 28). We get our first centre back reaching the 60-points mark in Michael Don Draper (intake of 31). Our best midfielder Ali Fazli (intake of 30) is a 4,5 star player, but doesn't want to sign a new deal. Let's hope we can change his mind. Majid Abedzadeh (intake of 31) surpassed the 80-points mark. He scored 35 goals in 32 games this season and is by far our best player.

A really weird first season to be honest, I was expecting us to fight for survival but we managed to fight for promotion until there were a few games left. The most surprising thing about the season is the amount of goals we managed to score. We had like 10 games where we won with 4-0 or more out of nowhere. I expect next season to be much tougher though because we will lose our two best attacking players.

Not many players worth noticing, overall potential of this group looks limited. Two strikers as elite talents so maybe one of them will be retrained. The best chance to get some apperances in first team should have Davit Asatiani as I still don't have a decent sub for right defence

Operário dos Açores – Season 20 (2042/43)

Champions League I thought this could be the year… But it wasn’t. We did great in the group stage, finishing 2nd, and then beat Hertha and Porto (in an all-Portuguese quarter final), facing Bayern in the semi. Their squad is absolutely ridiculous, but we went 3-0 up in the first leg and I was hoping. They then came back to 3-2, and even though we fought well to take the 2nd leg to extra time, we then ran out of gas and lost convincingly. I guess we can live with the top teams for a bit, but when they go attacking or my players get tired we just can’t cope anymore.

spacer.png spacer.png

Primeira Liga Porto pushed us all the way but we managed to retain the title.

spacer.png

Players Saido Djaquité 16a (DR/AMR) is getting ridiculously good, so good in fact that he won’t sign a new contract, and him and a few other players are getting itchy feet. The squad is a bit unbalanced with 3 top talents at fullback and up front, but all the other positions being pretty average.

spacer.png spacer.png

Youth intake (preview) Looks pretty good, 3 elite talents with pretty decent CA, hope that these don’t get downgraded later like most of the other ones.

spacer.png spacer.png

Transfers nothing of note.

XaW - Beaconsfield Town - Season 2028/29 (Season 6) - Vanarama National League

JpgHf5g.png

Squad | Transfers | Finances

We survived and stay up! And that was really the only think we had to do. Ebbsfleet had a mare of a season, so it was only 3 more spots to stay out of, really. We are conceding a metric ton of goals, but seeing as we've never really had a good defensive season, I'm resigned to the fact that we have to focus on scoring goals rather than preventing them. A few results this season were tough, as we lost 6-0 in two matches in a row, that was a bit hard, but other than that we didn't get run over as much as I had feared. This season we actually made some money, and if we continue we might head out of debt, and that would be a nice change of pace from the constant red numbers everywhere. On to next season, and hopefully we can edge ourselves a step further away from the relegation fight next season, but as long as we stay up, I'll be happy.

The intake this season decent, and we got a few talents.

FA Cup: We beat Eastleigh after a replay and extra time, but then lost to Harrogate Town in the 1st round.
FA Trophy: We beat Dartford, Torquay United, Southport, Barnet, and Gateshead to reach the final. Before the match started I was told my best defender had been out binging the night before and missed the match, Jake Duncan 25a is a muppet! Even so, we managed to keep our cool and beat Scunthorpe in the final to claim our first ever trophy!

We survived again but didn't make any progress. We're still a mediocre team now losing the best players, keeper Bullman and defender Neil Cox. Cox was expected to become the captain of the team but we could not meet his financial demands. Bullman wants a new challenge. We can't replace them because they were the best we had. It's stupid, feels like we're stuck in Vanarama forever. The Earl is really frustrated drowning his sorrows in beer in the local pub. Our under 18s won the league again 3rd time during the reign of the Earl.

The youth intake was crap ..

League A very good, albeit long and tough, season, finishing up in 9th to get our highest league finish for the fifth year in a row. We started off brilliantly and even had a flirt with a title challenge, but eventually the hectic schedule caught up to us and we fell away from the playoff places into a comfotable top half finish. It was disappointing to not be able to maintain a playoff push, but since I expected to battle relegation again this season, I couldn't grumble too much. We benefitted a lot from having our backups take a step up this season so that I was more comfortable to rotate players in and out of the side, although we had a fairly settled starting XI for most of the season. We did go in to a bit of a tailspin around February time, but managed to just pull things together enough to stabilise and finish with some decent form.

The shining light of this season had to be the partnership upfront between George and Hailey, netting 67 goals between them, with a total goal contribution between them of 90! Hailey's 39 goals, 29 in the league, was the highest ever league and total goals in a season for the club. Hailey really had a fantastic season, breaking the records for fastest goal (13s), most PotM awards (13) and highest average rating (7.23) for the club, plus he's now up to 3rd highest goalscorer of youth academy graduates behind Matt Oliver and Lewis Pearce, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him pass Pearce's 103 goals this season. George's season was also fantastic, he just got overshadowed by his strike-partner! Our intake from last year has already made a decent impact on the side with Reynolds and Waldo forming a good backup partnership to George and Hailey, grabbing 25 goals between them. Eddie Browne ended up securing a first team spot alongside Handzic in central midfield and had a good first full season. Diallo finished the season as first choice LB displacing Baker from the team, with Gibbons also getting some decent minutes at LB too. Maxwell had a good final season for the club too, doing a great job of filling the gap left by Brooks, now I just need to work our who's going to replace him!

Cups - Another good season for the cups, although we didn't progress as far in the FA Cup as last year. We made it to the fifth round this year, with Coventry being the first side we faced that was above us in the pyramid. By the time we faced them we had dipped into some horrid form, and just didn't have enough about us to get past them. We manged to come from 3-1 down to make it 3-3 but they finished us off in the last 20 minutes as we tried to push for a winner. Stats wise we probably should've won the match, but given the previous runs we'd had in the FA Cup I can't really complain. Our EFL Cup campaign was our best yet, reaching the Quarter's  only to fall to Championship Forest, but again a game which the numbers say we should have won, only to be denied by Forest playing the reincarnation of Lev Yashin in goal. We had some good wins on the way there, particularly the fourth round smashing of Brighton's second XI which I was really not expecting. I dared to dream of a semi final berth that would give us an away trip to Anfield or the Emirates, or even a local derby against Villa, but it wasn't to be. Finally the EFL Trophy, and my first trip to Wembley :D Although only the second time the club has ever gotten to Wembley, as I was disappointed to find out the club had played an FA Vase final there in the 80s. Inititally I didn't take this cup too seriously, rotating heavily to try and keep the first XI fresh, but as we progressed further the opportunity of that Wembley trip and lifting a trophy started to become more and more enticing. We faced Portsmouth in the final, but luck was against us as injuries and suspensions meant none of our starting midfield were available and we had to play a very hodge-podge side, which meant we just couldn't create the opporunities to get in to the game.

Finances - Our cup runs brought in some decent money this season with the extra home games and the Wembley final, plus an average attendance of 4881 over the season meant we brought in quite a bit in gate receipts. But the the biggest boon to our finances had to be the Maxwell sale, bringing in £7m which we used to upgrade the training facilites (after they were downgraded over the summer) and to increase our Youth Level, which included finally increasing our youth facilities again despite our boards resistence. We are also looking to expand the stadium now too, although it's only in the planning phase currently, but hopefully that should bring in more money as we are still growing our supporter base. Even after all the outlays we still have roughly £4m in the bank, so we're in a pretty good position for a couple of years.

Youth Intake

Rafael Arana [34A] - Matthew Lamb [34B] - Shola Elijah [34C] - Fred Kasongo [34D] - Danny Knox [34E] - Stevie Munro [34F] - Javon Ho-Lung [34J]

Another smallish intake, and unfortunately not quite as good as last year's IMO as we have less first team candidates, though potentially we have some good players here. Lamb and Arana are probably the closest to the first team, though they would both be way down the pecking order. I'm thankful to get Elijah and Munro through as we are hemorrhaging defenders every year it seems, though it'll take a while for them to get to first team level.

Former Player Watch

Jimmy Cook - A tough season for Jimmy, spending the first half of the season on Huddersfield's bench playing just 3 cup games, he ended up going on loan to Wrexham in League Two, playing 18 games and conceding 19 with 5 clean sheets, grabbing 7th and a playoff berth, though they went out to eventual winners Bolton, with Cook getting a dismal 5.4 rating in the first leg. His value now is at the £50k-£475k range, so may not end up bringing in much future cash for us.

Adriano Muzonho - Another season out on loan for Adriano, this time to Moreirense in the Liga Portugal 2, where he underwhelmed with just 1 goal and 1 assist in 26 matches, although he mainly played off the bench. Despite that his value is up at £7.8m-£11.5m and has even started to attract interest from Leeds, so may see some further funds from Muzonho soon

Haukur Mar Ottesen - Just 1 sub appearance for Reading this season for Ottesen, and a mediocre time in the their U21s, I get the feeling I played to Ottesen's strengths and other teams that don't need to rely on him won't get the same kind of form out of him. His value is at £75k-£750k now, so I may get a bit of cash still from him, but without gametime at Reading or loans out I can't see him progressing enough to get a decent fee.

Nathan Watson - 1 league and 1 cup appearance for Swansea in the first half of the season for Watson, he failed to nail a spot for the first team and ended up at Port Vale in the National League for the second half of the season, only contributing 1 assist over 16 games, but a better spell than his one with Newport as Port Vale at least stayed up and got a mid table finish. Despite that his value has remained high at £2.7m-£5.2m even though Swansea almost released him on a free, so maybe there's still a chance of decent fee in the future.

Evans Ackah - A few appearances early on for Blackpool but he wasn't quite ready for the step up to the Championship, so he ended up on loan to Wycombe in League One, playing 25 times and getting 1 assist. Ackah's value has stayed relatively low at £75k-£750k, so another where potential earnings may be limited.

John Brooks - Brooks spent the season on loan at York City in League Two, playing 26 games with 1 assist, and just missing out on the playoffs to Cook's Wrexham. Brooks' value is the most unpredictable as it ranges from £12k-£6.2m, he could end up bringing in a good fee, he could get tossed aside it seems, but he still has plenty of time to earn a big fee.

Squad - League - Finances - Transfers

This year we took revenge at Lech Poznań for losing in the Polish Cup Final. Also after penalty kicks, but this time we won the Polish Super Cup. In the league, despite one only defeat against Stal Mielec, the team did not have enough strength to finish the season and at the very end with a large number of draws we lose 1st place in favor of Legia, which means that in the next edition of the champions league we will have to get to the group stage. Speaking of the Champions League, this year has been a disappointing adventure. We lost the games we should have won, but we were able to beat Bayern Munich 5-1 and Manchester City 1-0. But of course that wasn't enough. Finances are very stable and I am thinking about another change of tactics.

In my opinion, we have a weak recruitment of young players this year. It is true that Hendryk promises to be a good player, but taking into account the generality, he fared poorly

@VillaSmith what a wonderful update. Read everything with interest, especially the part about former players. It’s such a long way to go.
would you mind telling what the turning point in Vanarama has been?

It's unsatisfying, but honestly it's luck.

I do tend to concentrate on the cups when I try challenges like this, but I got massively lucky with my runs early on in the FA Cup  and getting the big away days to Chelsea and Man Utd which allowed me to max out my Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitment, also Tamworth started out with a HoyD that was actually pretty good and I still haven't found a replacement good enough yet, all of which ended up getting me some really good intakes early on.

The other two things I focus on are morale and fitness, if both of those are good then you'll be able to punch above your weight. If morale is bad, don't be too harsh in teamtalks, once you get a feel for your team you should be able to tell which option will get you the green responses, and then praise every little positive you can just to boost morale, make sure you congratulate players on PotM performances or winning awards. For fitness I would often rest players between matches just to make sure they were at peak condition or as close as. It probably harmed the development of some players by not having training, but it helped win games and got me to professionalism much quicker.

Honestly, I don't know if that's just a fluke or if it's even a good way to approach things, but that's what worked for me. Also, I have tried this challenge many times, and I usually spend a fair few seasons getting into the save before posting anything here, there have been many times I have started this challenge and completely failed

What does "focusing on the cups" mean, do you have specific routines or preps?

Rotating the team before a cup game and ensuring my starting team is as rested as they can be, so either actually rest them so they don't train or don't play them the game before if it's less than a full week between the matches, I may even rest players for two matches before to just make sure they aren't tired.
