£800 - https://www.box.co.uk/30031834-Medion-Erazer-E25-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-RAM-51_3820497.html

What you're getting for the extra £200 is a more modern CPU with a sizeable leap in performance, plus a much better graphics card (although, the graphics card itself won't make any difference for FM as the card in the £600 model will easily handle 3D match graphics at max settings).

There's nothing at £1,000 I'd call a substantial enough leap in spec to consider worth recommending, especially as you don't seem sure about spending that much.  There is one laptop which has the same CPU  as the £800.00 model but with 16GB RAM and the 3060 rather than 3050 graphics card - but I can't honestly recommend the upgrade if FM is all you're using the laptop for, as 8GB is fine for FM, and the 3050 will handle the game's graphics with no issue whatsoever.

That is an i5 processor. And the graphics card is strong.

Still good though.

Thanks guys I think I’m going to go for this one in next two weeks https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-g5-nvidia-rtx-3060-16gb-15.6-144hz-i5-10500h-gaming-laptop-lt-0d5-gi.html I would need to spend £750 to a lot of leagues might as well pay few hundred more and get that I think. Mainly for football manager, Netflix and watching bt sports and sky

This is better and cheaper

https://www.box.co.uk/laptops/sort/1/refine/46567~209717$max~1000

This is the best of them
https://www.box.co.uk/30031893-Medion-Erazer-P25-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM-5_3820600.html

But it's the same price as what you were going to pay for the i5 processor version.

Note: It's only slightly better than the other one above.

Hi, may I ask is the ASUS C223 suitable please. Is it possible to get a £150-£200 laptop it will work on ? Thank you

The ASUS C223 appears to be a Chromebook, so the only way FM will work on that is using the cloud gaming option via Xbox Gamepass and that would be the Xbox version of the game - and I don't know if FM will be available using Xbox cloud gaming.

https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/b50-50-2/

That would run the game, but it would be quite a slow experience.  And it would likely struggle with the 3D match graphics, although may be ok with the settings turned right down.

£200 doesn't really get you a lot to be honest.

Yes - make sure it is the M1 based model, and not one of the older Intel based ones.

Just a word of warning though, people have reported that the Macbook Air runs quite hot when playing FM.

Hey, thankyou for the reply..

I assume, considering the entire laptop is  basically the heat sink (it's all metal) as long as its on a desk that shouldn't be a problem?

As far as I understand it, there's no issue in terms of the health of the laptop for the reasons you've stated, it's just being aware yourself that the chassis can get rather warm.

want to buy ASAP, will it be able to play very well with quick processing speeds and medium+graphics?

Not a lot of storage. 256gb storage could fill up quickly.

If you do go for that one you could want to upgrade the drive for more storage in the future.

It should be relatively cheap and easy to do.

Thanks for your reply. Football manager is the only thing I’ll be using the laptop for. Odd browsing and music downloads/djing but that’s all really. Should be enough?

Nowhere! I'll buy the parts and build it myself. Alternatively you can choose your parts and have it made for you. In Australia a good site is Mwave, I'm sure there are similar websites where you are. Cost will be about A$2500

Cheers

I made aa few tweaks on my build but the parts are on their way and the PC should be ready for release day! Looking forward to having a new PC for FM22!

Sorry to be a pain. Thanks for your help so far. Will deffo do a benchmark test for you as read on a previous post you would appreciate this!

will this laptop be able to play the game in 3D on high detail?

will this be worth the extra £?

https://www.box.co.uk/30029418-Medion-Erazer-E10-Intel-Core-i5-8GB-RAM-_3554453.html

Can see this was £600 on another thread? Has it gone back up?

I'd go for that one - only that it has a dedicated graphics card.

The processor is a tough one when comparing as the 5500u ranks higher.

But in this case I'd go for the 10300H as it has a higher TDP (thermal design) which allows it to perform better under high processing tasks.

U processors tend to throttle when under pressure from the CPU demands to keep heat low and battery (when not plugged in) running for longer.

Nice one - would have snapped it up but seen it’s gone back to £750 from £600 haha. Anything very similar under £600?

Morning all,

Looking for some thoughts and advice, so thank you in advance.
My current Laptop is a Dell Latitude e6330, i7-3540M 3 GHz CPU, 8GB Ram and a 256GB SSD. The graphics card is a piece of rubbish but I don’t use the 3D graphics so I’m not too fussed. It’s a Intel HD 4000 for completeness.

Looking to upgrade to something less chunky, and whilst I’m happy enough with my specs I might as well improve where I can.

I only use the laptop for FM, nothing else and looking to spend a maximum of £400 but happy (and more likely to) go 2nd hand.

I’m ok with searching for CPU, HD and RAM specs but haven’t got the foggiest when it comes to Graphics Cards.

As I’m happy using commentary only, am I better saving my cash and not upgrading and living with a chunky, hot machine or can I noticeably improve?

Hi

You guys are doing amazing work.

I'm looking to upgrade my laptop and looking to get the biggest upgrade i can for my budget which is £800 plus a bit more if it's really worth it. I'm currently using an Intel i7 6500u 8GB nvidia geforce 940m, which seems fine for watching the matches in 3D but is struggling to keep up with the size of database and number of leagues i like to play. So i want to maximise that side of it.

Any recommendations and will that size of budget be big enough for me to notice a difference ?

Thanks

I do love my All-in-One PC, but they're not the best for gaming. I bought a second hand one that's 10 years old and only allows FM19 on the lowest graphics setting.

I assume most new AIOs would be tip-top for running FM22, but can you direct me to one that would play the game smoothly and quickly, with a few leagues running, but at a reasonable price (say, 1000 quid max)?

I don't do video editing or anything fancy other than play FM.

Cheers

Looking to replace a mid-2014 MacBook Pro with a Windows option. Current MacBook has a 3 GHz dual-core i7 and 16GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM so a solid base but graphics are inbuilt Iris 1536MB - terrible!

It'll be used for streaming BT Sport, YouTube, general web browsing, MS Office, Tableau and Tableau Prep (data visualisation and preparation tools) and FM. Not sure how relevant this is but I'll be plugging into a 34" UltraWide screen (https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/345B1C_00/curved-ultrawide-lcd-display). SSD size is not an issue - currently only using about 100GB as I have a NAS drive for storing music, photos and videos.

Given that I've had terrible integrated graphics on my current machine and its predecessor, I want to get a good FM 3D match experience for a change and I want to be confident that I'll be able to run it at max settings graphically in maybe 4 or 5 years time. I tend to play a medium database with the top 2 divisions across 8-10 nations playable.

Budget has a ceiling of £1k. I've seen a few recommendations in here from Box.co.uk and can see the appeal as their pricing looks pretty decent. The standouts I've seen are:

https://www.box.co.uk/30031893-Medion-Erazer-P25-AMD-Ryzen-7-16GB-RAM-5_3820600.html

https://www.box.co.uk/FX516PM-HN002T-U-ASUS-TUF-DASH-F15-Intel-Core-i7-16GB-RAM_3936749.html

So it just looks like a processor battle and a comparison of the top two has the Ryzen being the better performer by a distance as far as I can see.

It doesn't have to be those two and it doesn't have to be through that site. Any advice is welcome.

If you're happy to stretch that budget by £9, this is a very good spec for the money: https://www.laptopstation.co.uk/product/laptops/fq0000na/

Very good CPU, 8GB RAM and the integrated GPU is pretty solid as well so you'll be able to play in 3D if you want to.

For those who are playing Football Manager on a M1 MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.
Can you check how much RAM the game takes? Both CPU and GPU?

FM specs for the Mac are

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo - 1.8GHz+
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Storage: 7 GB available space

Most macbooks come with a minimum of 8gb RAM. Which is plenty for Football Manager on any platform.

More RAM doesn't = better performance for FM.

The processor is the performance part of it - and the M1 chip is very good.

There's a benchmark thread on the forums offering performance ratings of M1 chip by users from the forum for FM.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12vp32qrHivL-_auW9D0pp-F7ZvrvQlqtBgfcSOL8n5I/edit#gid=1041602144

The M1 chip falls in line with other top end processors.

Where the Apple Mac computers are very expensive, you could pay a lot less for a similiar high-end PC.

Just chipping in. I recently bought Macbook Air M1 and have been playing some FM 22 beta on it. No issues whatsoever, runs really smooth.

Don't mean to be harsh - but most computers circa £1k and up will run FM smoothly.

And by smoothly it depends on lots of factors, from how many leagues you run, database size, how many years you play into the game etc.

I can run FM smoothly on a 10 year old laptop playing 1 league and a small database.

Or my travel laptop has FM on it and it's 5 years old, I play 30 leagues, large database and 100 year career games. It's as smooth as butter for me i7 7700HQ with 8gb RAM, I paid £760 for it 5 years ago.

Yes, the Mac M1 chip is good. It's just as good as most mid-high end laptops in that price range.

*edit*

I will say - that the Macbook Air 13 inch - it's the best 13 inch laptop for that price - hands down, it's a beast of a portable machine.

13 inch screen is too small for me - but as far as 13 inch laptops go, I don't think you can do better than the Macbook Air M1 for price and performance.

It's a solid CPU - can't really speculate on how well it'll run x number of leagues to your liking (as per the OP this is very subjective), but it's a decent CPU.  And it is the best I can see at the under £1k mark.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmark-List.2436.0.html? scores this quite a bit higher than your existing CPU:

image.thumb.png.b7e60f89cb4adcb06ba0917eacc37975.png

As does https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-6700HQ-vs-Intel-Core-i5-1135G7/m34954vsm1286124

Edit: You could definitely do better for the budget with a full desktop rather than an all in one though.

Where is this? I'm in two minds about getting an all-in-one. I could just get a desktop and by monitor separate.

I'm currently using my laptop with a monitor and keyboard so it is pretty much used as a desktop it's permanently sitting on a desk!

Choose the option to add the 1050Ti graphics card.  It'll be within your budget and you'll have a cracking machine for FM.

It's quite tricky just comparing spec vs spec in terms of CPU & GPU.

For me at least there are a couple of massive quality of life considerations, namely fan noise and screen quality.

I'd trade a performance tier in both CPU & GPU power for a quiet laptop with a good screen.

I'd advise any one to diligently research every laptop before purchase....or just send them back like i do

Hi everyone, Im looking for the smallest and "cheaper" device that I could run FM22 on low graphics. Im traveling next month, the stream deck is not out yet...so, im looking for devices that are available now. There is something called peakago, not sure if it can run the game. Any other ideas? Does someone play the game on smaller devices?

It will run the game smoothly.  It's a modern i5 (current generation of Intel processors) and very capable.

And in terms of 3D graphics, should be able to handle medium settings at least.

If it's just for FM, then I don't think paying more is necessary.  You're talking quite a lot extra (over £200) to get what could be seen as a marked improvement.

That's a decent spec machine and very well priced.

Hello everyone, I am looking for a new laptop soon, as mine is on it's last legs.

It will be used only for FM and some Internet browsing. I usually play 2d so the graphics aren't overly important.

I could push the budget up to £400, and the key factor is that it runs the game smoothly.

Any help would very much appreciated.

I could push the budget up to £400, and the key factor is that it runs the game smoothly.

Any help would very much appreciated.

At that sort of price, I'd go for this oneI https://www.box.co.uk/AVITA-LIBER-NS14A8UKV542-SG-AVITA-Liber-V-14-Pro-AMD-Ryzen-5-8GB-RAM_3355400.html
