Postal Strikes, Orders Shipping, Steam, when will I get my game - OFFICIAL

Recommended Posts

I can't play the game until monday, so I'm not bothered if mine comes today or not. Ordered from Zavvi. They can't be worse than Play.com - last year mine arrived 6 days after release date, despite pre-ordering months in advance. A mate who lived in the same road and pre-ordered from Play 2 weeks after me got his a day after the release

Haven't ordered anything from Play since.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

Hallelujah,

Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

et al.

It's here, and I've just had an offer of six weeks more work ( I was going to be out of a job come Monday, so even six weeks is very good news).

Now, I think a game of FM2010, to celebrate...

Well Zavvi have let me down to, despatched wednesday and noithing arrived today, not good enough Zavvi and i suspect next year you won't be getting as much business. Post office strike or not it should have arrived by today!

I agree, I'm never pre-ordering anything off zavvi again. Really pi$$ed me off this has.

You got an email on Thurs saying it had been dispatched the day before? Really?

I just got this (on 28th @ 7pm):

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Thank you for your order with zavvi. We can confirm the item(s) below have been sent to you.

Delivery will normally take between 3 to 5 working days, but can sometimes take a little longer due to postal delays. Please allow 10 full working days before notifying us of any delays in arrival.

We send each item of your order as soon as it becomes available at no extra charge. If you are waiting for any other items which are not listed below you will receive a further e-mail once they have been sent.

We will endeavour to keep you updated on the status of your order and any delays that may occur.

The following item(s) have been sent to:"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm near to Middlesbrough and am thinking that because there isn't a sorting office that is unaffected anywhere near here, that I've been strike-screwed, as it were

It's not Zavvi's fault! People have received their copies today, it's the postal backlog! Ye gods!

I know some people are complaining as though it's Zavvi's fault. I'm not, I realise it's the postal service, but I'm trying to establish if people had theirs dispatched on 28th before evening, because they'll obviously have a better chance of receiving FM.

I won't be using Zavvi again. They confirmed that I would get the game today... but still no game :(

How exactly did they confirm you'd get the game today? Every other quote I've seen suggesting they had this guarantee actually said that it would be despatched by the 30th, no-one has shown me any guarantee that it will arrive by the 30th as it's not possible for them to guarantee anything once it leaves their warehouse. As far as I'm concerned, they've said 3-5 working days for delivery, which takes you through to Tuesday. If you don't have it by Tuesday you have every right to feel aggreived, otherwise stop complaining, they're giving you a better price than anywhere else.

Those people who have recieved theirs from Zavvi, can I ask where you're from? I live in Bradford but don't know if it has been delivered yet because i'm at work, so I want to know if my area was affected by strikes. I can't stand the tension!

I dont know if the zavvi haters a) read through the thread and b) contacted to ask about when they would ship it.

Ill say this just one more time, Zavvi stated they were going to dispatch ON RELEASE DAY, the 30th, meaning you would have got it next week. When I rang they said due to post strikes, they released this early. They should be applauded for taking this action.

I cant believe how worked up people are getting over a game being delivered

I have n't spotted a single postman any where at all where I live perhaps they have decided to make a long weekend out of strike action!!

Same here, mate. I didn't see any posties yesterday either come to think of it. I don't have any problem with Zavvi what so ever but I am majorly peeved at those asshole posties.

Sorry, I'll correct myself, I received the same email as you, early on Thursday morning, but on looking at my account and order history on Zavvi's website, the actual despatch date was the 28th.

Well all I can say is you get what you pay for.

You go on a budget airline dont expect caviar, you buy something nearly 40% cheaper than anywhere else dont expect them to be busting a gut to help you out.

This isn't Zavvi's fault but why should they make contingency plans that will eat into their already slim profit margins for the product.

You go to a specialised company like game, you pay more than if you go to a warehouse type seller, but they understand repeat business they realise that you could of gone elsewhere and thats why they were promising people would receive their game today. Promising, come hell or high water you'd get it today.

So I'll say again you get what you pay for, life is always the same.

I also ordered from Zavvi and was hoping it would turn up today but no joy for me :(

If I were to purchase a copy from Asda, am I right in thinking that I could return the Zavvi copy to Asda when it turns up next week??

Or will the fact that the barcodes be different fail me?

Will all the Zavvi lovers stop thinking they are God's gift.

Listen, before ordering from Zavvi, they told me in no uncertain terms that I would recieve my game by the 30th. I won't be using Zavvi again, they lied to get my money.

I understand it's not their fault that the posties are on strike, but they didn't have to tell me that the game would arrive on the 30th did they? Takes the pish.

They would scan the barcode and realise. Just send the Zavvi copy back.

I'm guessing that Zavvi don't have the resources to ring up each individual regional post depot and ask if they are going to be on strike. They must have just hoped for the best. Also, to them FM 2010 is just another product amongst the thousands that they will be sending out (or not) today, so I doubt they see any reason for special treatment to its customers.

Mind you, saying that I will probably be just as angry as you tonight when I get home and its not waiting for me.

Defending something doesn't automatically make you a 'lover', nor do I think I'm god's gift. I'm not the one throwing my toys out of the pram because the rest of the world hasn't made getting me my copy of Football Manager a priority.

I'd like to see your proof that Zavvi promised you your game by the 30th, as all we've seen so far are guarantees that it'd be despatched by the 30th and then arrive within 3 - 5 working days (not counting the strike action which is out of their control).

My understanding was that they said they'd endeavour to get it to you on time. Usually, it's dispatched on release day. You got it early. You may have had it now, had it not been for the postal strikes.

Zavvi have done nothing wrong.

I don't have my copy from them either, but it's not Zavvi's fault

I'm not angry about not having the game, just that Zavvi lied to get my money. Oh well...

The email I recieved from Zavvi yesterday:

One of our customer services advisors has reviewed your query and we are able to confirm the following:

I am sorry that you have not received your order.

Your order was sent to you on the 28/10/2009.

As your item was sent out on the 28/10/2009 you will receive your item tomorrow, the 30/10/2009.

still not here either, i'm near woking. does one have to sign for it?

Apparently not if you (pre-)ordered from GAME and it was sent via Parcel Force.

Mine's gone missing completely and I won't know until Monday probably what's happened to it, whether I'll need to try and get my money back from GAME and/or get a replacement copy, which means I'll probably miss out on the free gift as well. All because the deliveryman didn't leave a card saying where he'd left/taken it when he supposedly delivered it yesterday (Thursday for those who may read this at a later date).

Ok, which it would have done

Strikes

Not their fault

I'm sure Zavvi are aware of the strikes. If they are, why would they say that I would recieve the game today? I'm not bothered about not having the game, it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is that Zavvi have lied to me, twice.

End of :)

A quick question, is it posible to return the game to Zavvi? If it isn't there when I get home i'm thinking of going to ASDA to pick up a copy, but don't want to unless I can return the Zavvi copy. Also, anyone who lives near Bradford got their copy yet?

I feel a bit sorry for SI in all this by the way. Two years running they've had outside factors screwing with the release of FM - last year activation and server issues, this year post strike. What have they done to upset the game release gods?
