aRHpositive
Hello everyone, I pre-ordered my copy of fm13 the day it was allowed. However, it's written in the game page (in Steam) that the game will only be available in Turkish language. Not even English is supported. A friend of mine has sent an e-mail to Steam Support to get a confirmation, and their answer was: Hello,A staff member has replied to your question: Hello Suat, Thank you for contacting Steam Support. Unfortunately, this game is only available in the Turkish language in your region. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any further questions, please let us know - we will be happy to assist you. While I pre-ordered game just to support the producers decision to publish FM2013 in Turkish language for the first time officially in Football Manager series, I also want to be able to play the game in English whenever I want to do it. Not being able to do it seems like a trade-over for getting FM supported in my own language, and it's totally unfair. Is this just a mistake by Steam support? If it's not, I'd like to take this opportunity to tell sigames staff that there'll be a lot of unhappy customers because of this decision. Perhaps you should reconsider. Thanks for your answers. La Furia Roja
wasn't making people play through steam the answer to all their piracy concerns? How would now forcing people in Turkey to use the Turkish language aid it?
AlexLightsaber
There were a lot of unhappy customers when the game wasn't in Turkish, I think the Russian version is the same as well with only one language.

So, is this the solution, then? There were a lot of unhappy customers, so give them just the Turkish language, and nothing else. I don't think the Russians are happy with the solution, either. And this is to stop piracy? With the game fully integrated to Steam, is there any way to play with a genuine copy of FM 2013 in English, for me, "without" downloading the English language files from an illegal website? If there isn't any, how is this going to stop the game from getting pirated?

Smurf
I don't understand? You lobbied for the game to be in Turkish, they give you a Turkish language version, then you complain that you want to play it in English? If you can play it in either language why would it bother you that can't switch any time you want to switch languages? I really struggle to understand the logic here. You can play it in Turkish or buy the English version and play it in English? Why do you need to swap languages half way through?

You lobbied for the game to be in Turkish, they give you a Turkish language version, then you complain that you want to play it in English? I'm pretty sure he didn't personally lobby to get the game in Turkish. It's like in fifa: I buy it via origin or in the local store I only get Dutch commentary. Yes, I understand it (obviously) but I much rather listen to English commentary. Doesn't mean I shouldn't have Dutch one available though.
aliatam
This does not really concern me as i am living outside Turkey but , if that was the case, i would have liked to play the game in English and i know many people who would do the same.. I can't quite get why SI gives Turkish language which is really great for Turks who can't speak in English but then takes English away for customers who are used to playing the game for so many years in English. For example, let's think of a foreign expat living in Turkey.. Let's say a British..Does this mean this guy won't be able to play FM 2013 as he doesnt speak in Turkish? milnerpoint
You can still buy yourself a copy of the english speaking game, you just cannot change it too Turkish or you can buy a copy of the Turkish game and not be able to change it to English, whats the big issue here? Buy a copy of the game with the language you want to use surely!?
DivineOne
Ok, I want to play it in English. A friends comes over and we play together, he doesn't speak English so we need to play it in my own language. Your solution?
aliatam
As long as you can still buy the english speaking game from Turkey, i mean it's optional to buy English or Turkish / then yes i see no big issue.. But still, it would be better to be able to switch languages in my opinion.. If you can switch today from English to Italian or Spanish - why not adding Turkish there? aRHpositive
A clarification on the subject from an official person would be great. The point I'm trying to make is this: Why am I being forced to choose, while the customers in many other European countries are not?
milnerpoint
Because unfortunately the statistics show that Russia and Turkey are two of the biggest culprits of computer game piracy, releasing the game with an English language file would increase the chances of it appearing online on a torrent site. milnerpoint
Ok, I want to play it in English.A friends comes over and we play together, he doesn't speak English so we need to play it in my own language. Keyzer Soze
It's very simple! Buy the game with the turkish language. Then, with a quick "googlish operation" you will be able to find the english.ltc file that contains the english language to the game. Copy that file to your FM2013 folder... and the problem is solved! This solution could be ilegal, so read it fast before it's erased from the forum! Smurf
Wasn't a thread about the Turkish language issue last year? I think one of the SI team confirmed that it was difficult to source good translators from English to Turkish, or many languages to Turkish etc. I think they got people who said they'd do it - but it's not a straight conversion from another language to Turkish, or from Turkish to another language. I think they only offer Turkish language because the game text is completely written by Turkish people - and it's not worth SI's resources to convert the Turkish language to other languages, for just one country. Similarly with Russia and whoever else is in this boat. I may have a few details wrong - but something in the back of my mind is playing out the scenario.
AlexLightsaber
I think its mainly done to stop pre-release piracy because i think a Russian shop released FM 2011 early and then it was all over the internet in every language nearly 2 week before release. DivineOne
Translate for him, if your fluent enough to play the game in another language from your own this should be no problem at all. Then you're more busy translating the game than actually playing it. You're right about the piracy reason though. That's the reason this happens. DrIgz
I remember posting on a similar thread last year about the Turkish language, and I'll repeat here again. The game is not released in Serbian. That's unfair. There is a reason for that. SI would not profit from paying translators for the minimal extra sales (if any extra sales). There was a similar issue with Turkish before. Now, they've decided to give you Turkish, but you must choose, Turkish or English. And again, people complain that this is unfair. If SI did it this way, it's what suits them best. There are so many languages that aren't included in FM at all, should all those people complain? I really don't get what the issue is.
Smurf
Yes I think that's what it was. The sales in Turkey didn't warrant them converting the language to Turkish.
Smurf
http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/302291-Why-do-not-you-support-other-languages?p=7678193&viewfull=1#post7678193 Miles Jacobson There's quite a bit of misinformation in here, so thought I'd clear a few things up. Firstly, the game is no longer banned in China as far as I know. The reason for no official Chinese translation is the same that is given for many other countries - we do not sell enough games in China to justify the cost of making a translation. Because of the huge amount of text in the game, it costs a lot of money to not only translate, but also test the translation, for any country. We have a set threshold internally of when we'll start looking at official translations - our sales in China are way off this target, unfortunately. We'd love nothing more than to be able to translate the game into every language in the world, but also have to do cost benefit analysis, and the number of extra sales that would be gained according to experts in the market in the territory are also nowhere near where we'd need to be to justify the cost. As for unofficial translations, we don't offer support to these, nor have suggested they are possible. Nor am I allowed, legally, to comment on this subject any more than I have done already - hence the message I sent out on Twitter the other week about how I won't talk about translations on Twitter any more. I/we can't talk about them here either. http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php/276541-Turkey-%28Official%29-League-Specific-Issues?highlight=turkey+language

The wrong is not to include English. The same situation is with former USSR territories in Steam. Would you be happier if they just didnt release a Russian or Turkish version? For me personally - yes, original version is better (I can't imagine playing Russian or Ukrainian lang. version). I understand the explanation regarding 'local only' release in Russia/Turkey. But only when we talk about CDs/DVDs and other real media. Not about Steam. Box version of the game in Russian only - ok, I don't care. But Steam?.. I work for TV (in Ukraine and did the same in Russia) and know how iditic piracy war is. All the legisaltion/licensing limitations imposed by EU/US only make things worse. I can't get BetaCams, DVDs (with promotional material or just screeners of UK/US shows) without problem. Can't liberate them - I have to prove that those discs are not porn/contrafact. It's hard to license product hot-from-US (series) for TV and impossible to do it for SVOD. Not to mention usage of original sound-track. Thus, people can't get quality product fast and without crazy obstacles and go pirating. P.S. Will pre-buy a normal English-language Steam version in Europe while on business trip. Crazy.
DivineOne
And that's why piracy must be fought: it only hurts the small companies and the honest buyers.

Oguz Kagan
Something awkward situation going on about Football Manager 2013 Turkish version. If you logging in or going on Steam from Turkish IP address you just have "only one" option to buy FM 13 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/216590) there is no way to buy UK or Europe version (http://store.steampowered.com/app/207890). If you try to buy 207890 coded normal version game on Turkey, Steam directs you to buy 216590 coded only Turkish available version. That seems very unfair for foreigners living in Turkey or people who want to play English in Turkey.

SI, please come up with a solution to offer the option to the residents of Turkey to purchase the game in English too (not necessarily in English and Turkish both, couldn't care less about that).
