Hi besty... impossible to say... you don't list what A10 the processor is.. there are a few.

Also it's always a question on how well it with run the game for the money you are paying for it.. and if there are better options..

Details are needed either way.

Hi, one final question about laptops.

Is it worth spending an extra 50 quid on i5 processor over an i3?

Laptops are otherwise identical, SSDs, 6GB Ram, HD graphics 520 2.3-2.8 GHZ.

Not necessarily. A good i3 might be better than an average i5. Needs more information.

Both described as latest 6th generation.

I5 is i5-6200u with graphics stated above

I3 is i3-6100u with graphics as above

I5 is marginally better. Same clock speed, benchmark has the i5 at 3916 and the i3 at 3523. Not a huge difference, but there is one. Probably worth the extra 50.

I went for the i5 one lol. Hopefully that was the better choice lol. I only want about 5-7 leagues medium base. What you guys think?

Genuinely no way to tell!

Littlewoods are truly awful and I can't see any details on what i5 it is at all.. there are dozens of i5's of many generations... so it could range from really low spec, barely capable of running your 5-7 leagues to top of the range which could run almost anything...

Why are people buying from Littlewoods and the like?!

That laptop Clarkie is here directly from Dell....

http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-5559-laptop/pd?oc=cn55907&model_id=inspiron-15-5559-laptop

At over £200 cheaper

But to answer your question.. it would run the game fine.... there`s not a lot more we can say as performing fine for me, might be completely different to performing fine in your eyes...

I've got nothing to go for in terms of how big a database you want to run, how quickly etc.

Link to post

If it's a 6200, you'll be fine, it will run the game just fine for a few leagues etc.

Sound mate cheers for the help. Every Lenovo 500 I've seen on other sites with the i5 come with that processor from what I've seen. What's a few leagues to you btw? Recent years I've managed two at a push lmao. So 5 or so with no lagging processing would be amazing to me, probably ***** to most lol. Like you say everyone's preference differs.

Thanks Welsace but as Besty said, the cash up front price is too much for me, can handle the installments much better. Reckon it could handle 8 countries with 3 leagues in each country well? Probably getting a season out of the way with 4 hours of solid gameplay?

Generic laptop recommendation request...

I'd like to pay monthly, and think £750 usually comes to around £20ish pm?

It'd be primarily for FM/streaming media files to my TV, but also would love it to have an Nvidia card to stream better to my Nvidia Shield - and I'm sick of the noise the fans on my Dell Inspiron N5110 make when I load up FM!

That being said, I'd be happy to play other games on it - I've just never been able to!

That one above comes to £624 ... but you can obviously upgrade and swap around components as you see fit on pcspecialist... I suggest you take a look on there... it's great.

Hi Guys, been searching for a laptop for around £850 and found this. Can anyone see a reason not to get it, or know of anything better for around the same price? Ideally I want to run at least 30 leagues and have a long career save.

That's a laptop from PCSpecialist.co.uk, so I would check the price of a similar spec'd machine on their site, before buying.

I configured the same laptop with the specs from the original link and it came out £50 quid more on PC Specialists site. Seems like a bargain (relatively speaking).

I'm not computer illiterate but my knowledge of processors stopped being up to date when the Pentium replaced the dear old 486 I used to play CM2 on...

Is an Intel Core i3-5157U processor and Intel Iris Graphics Card sufficient to handle FM16? (the machine has 8GB RAM which I know is more than enough on the ram front...)

What about an AMD A10-8700P APU with an AMD Radeon R6 graphics card (again, with 8GB RAM which doesn't worry me).

Any advice much appreciated. I know the minimum specs recommend an Intel 4 or AMD Athlon 2.2, 2.2 ghz cpu and various graphics cards but have no idea how these compare to the above.

Hi Welshace

I am looking at the laptop spec you have provided. Will this one enable me to load a fair few leagues etc OK? Sorry but am a total novice at all this and am prepared to purchase this one today if given the OK.

Thanks

Yeah, you'll be able to load pretty much anything you throw at it.. obviously that's a matter of perspective though, it's all about how fast you like to play and how fast you like the game to process...

But it's a great spec computer... and will play FM great.

would this be able to run fm16? im only really looking to have england playable and the rest of the major leagues as viewable and i don't plan on using the 3D viewer. thanks a millon

Yes would run fm fine for that, but for the price of that refurb, you could get a newer spec brand new laptop...

Like this maybe:

What are your opinions on the following laptops? I'll be interested to hear what one people think is the best.

I mainly will be using it for playing FM 16 and a few other games. I want to try and get the best processor and graphics card I can within my budget.

would that run it better then i take it?

There isn't a huge difference between the two in terms of pure processing, but the one you linked is a few generations old now and newer tech will always be more efficient. The on board graphics are also vastly better, which helps... All in all, i'd always go for a newer gen laptop.

Depends on your budget....

You can customise the Cosmos to your needs, which is always great, but if you try and match the Dells specs, you'll find it will likely be more expensive...

So it really depends on what you want to spend and what you need.

Welsh ace I have made a few adjustments on the Cosmos, I have the same processor a weaker graphics card but an SSD. This comes to £669. I think for my needs I can have weaker graphics card and gain an SSD as a NVIDIA Geforce GT 940m 2.0gb will be fine for FM 16 3D and the games I play aren't really graphics intensive.

The graphics accelerator is fine on it... the processor itself isn't super strong though, you'll only be able to play a few leagues at most I would imagine.. it's the equivalent of say an older gen i3 ...

That said... for the price, it's a wonderful little machine for everyday tasks etc.

Hi Welshace

Thanks for all your help on this thread - that's kind of you to take your time to help people.

Now, I think I have narrowed my choice down to either this PCSpecialist spec you have here, or the http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/80EW0...0_1906726.html you suggested later.

I adjusted the Hard Disc memory on the Cosmos to a 1tb Serial ATA (is that worth doing compared to the 240gb v300 you have?) Totals £615 with VAT.

Now, the other one (the Lenovo) is £400. I'm guessing that like for like the Cosmos is better, but would you say it's £215 better? (I know that's very subjective!) The only game I'll be using either for is FM.

Thanks a lot.

Has anyone played FM on the new version of the 12" Macbook? Any idea if it runs well on it?

  • OS: Mac OS X 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, 10.10
  • Processor: Intel Core 1.8GHz+
  • Memory: 2 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVidia GeForce 7300 GT ATI Radeon X1600 Pro Intel GMA X3100 256MB VRAM OpenGL 2.0 compliant
  • Hard Drive: 3 GB available space

As far as I can tell the 12 inch macbook only does something like 1.3ghz -with turboost to 2.8ghz.

Does it have to be a Mac?
