Two more months down, and we're put on what must be the most sparkling run of the save so far, including taking a massive scalp. I should probably do a screencap of the starting 11 as it stands, some of these guys are turning into fine young players.

I don't even.... A weakened side, no doubt, but still a hell of a result.

Even the backups have been near flawless.

Ayoola's development is grinding to a halt, but he's still brutally effective. Sheldon is becoming a real star, no surprise that some Premiership sides are chasing him. Owusu-Ansah's finishing is coming along better than I expected, a good physical player.

Cooney and Lee are quite the dynamic partnership, and again little wonder they're being chased. Lee especially interests Premiership sides. Fede has been a revelation, especially that it's actually incredibly rare for him to pick up cards, only has two this season.

Ogilvie and Martin man the flanks, though Martin is very handy in defence and midfield too, even if we had an upgrade there, his versatility is enough of a boon that there'd always be a squad space for him.

fb3c09cd9890367245ee3e5cdf90abe1.pngcb0c87b436adda80ee4e19ad292bdca9.png

Ouedraogo and Fisher are a very well rounded pair, both quick and strong.

a9f870cf590d660c6d551f56b9e4934f.png

Gomes has become outrageously good for this level. I'd happily start him in the Premiership.

Special shout out to Yvan Wassi too, who's started in the National League North with us, and whilst not a starter this season, hasn't missed a beat 4 divisions higher, putting in great performances whenever called upon.

Seems like Sheldon has an axe to grind with City judging by that performance :brock:

Hopefully he has a few more in him yet!

What a result against city!!! Also great as one of there discarded gets a win agasint the team that let him go at one stage. With the career rules you set hopefully we see a lot of this in the future!!!

I think it'd be an absolute highlight of the save if we could get Sheldon to put Arsenal to the sword.

4 hours ago, tajj7 said:

Sheldon looks quality, if he has some more PA he'll score for fun in the championship and would probably be solid the PL.

The staff already rate him as Championship level. Think he could at least make it as a reasonable Premiership player.

Two more months in the bag, and we're flying along, barring one very nasty week where we lost three games in a row. Now, on to the vipers pit that is the winter transfer window.
Also, youth recruitment has been upgraded again, to Well Established, almost maxed...

Spurs finally halt our magical cup run, but it's fine, good earner.

Managed to navigate January without losing O'Leary, which is fantastic news, felt like every side in England wanted him.

Did make one sale, a club record 1m(+50 of profit and friendly) to Palace.

f94792fa1b9be85ea7b96638e9d09a25.png

We also picked up 85k via a sell on clause, as Bristol City sold Lee Davies to Swansea.

He's developing pretty well and all.

Winter was fantastic, we happily march on league and cup.

The FA Cup proving just as fruitful as the league cup did, and coincidentally, up next is Man City, away.

7677fd4a0563ea2f1ba89c070aec8b25.png

We've such a lead we can afford to rest players for the cup games, though I doubt we'll put in a repeat performance against City regardless.

Also, this is a thing that happened.

Then the youth intake comes along, and we've got a golden generation....

They're very excited by Thompson-Hull, and with good reason, but most of the rest don't look especially golden.

ce382ea8dc9bb0b5bc8489ed01825615.png

Look at that! If he has a lot of room to grow he'll be an absolute monster. If not, well, he's already good enough to start for us....

Probably not a lot of PA, but I like the look of this guy a lot too, could be a tidy defender.

Haha, @oriole01 will be happy to see Wagner's fall from grace.

Thompson-Hull looks brilliant.

I was thinking of him as I saw the notice pop up.

In other news, intake may be a tad more golden than previous estimates. Danny and Shaun Lloyd have both jumped a star in PPA to 5 and 4.5 respectively.

Start MTH immediately and see how many goals you can get out of him before he retires, a nice little side project for the manager

He's got 4 already. :D

Now that's a player..

Just the right time too, we were short up front with injuries and call ups.

Thompson-Hull looks good enough for the Championship already.  Some amazing regens people are producing in these career saves, never seen so many players that have such good starting attributes.

Think he'll be in the starting 11 straight away next season.

You've got a great transfer budget there. If it was any other manager I'd say it should help you stay up, however with you, it should help you win the Championship.

I won't be spending any of it, but it'll certainly help with wages.

A pretty quiet transfer window in the end, well, in terms of completed deals at least, it was the busiest by far in the rejecting advances stakes. Pretty much every side in England wanted Thompson-Hull and O'Leary.
I thought we had the Wolf Cup in the bag after smashing 5 past the first ever returning champions in Bournemouth, but it wasn't to be. Overall presesason was a mixed bag, as we were missing a good group of first teamers to the U-19's Euros. Settled into form once they were back and the season proper started.

EDIT: Facilities are also being upgraded, something we've never really had the spare cash to do so far. Also, Recruitment finally hits Extensive.

Transfers, mostly quiet, we had one notable departure.

2836d598321ee04c4042e6e803f8b1d9.png

Ogilvie moves to Bristol for 500k on deadline day, after kicking up fits that we didn't accept a 200k bid(he was valued 250k) to join Reading in League 1, as they're a bigger club. Well rid anyway, constantly asked for new contracts, and was behind O'Leary in the pecking order.

Incoming was pretty quiet too, by my standards at least.

McFarlane is ex-Chelsea, and looks like he could be a handy mid in a number of roles.

ac361adb21631cdb461ccffb809e23e2.png

Richard, released from PSG, was planned as backup/depth at DM, but has proven far more important early on as Fede tore his hamstring in the season opener.

4d45d31c9d79e2fc5e71d0357c411ef4.png

A Samdoria castoff, Tripadelli was a deadline day signing to replace Ogilvie. To be honest, I like him better despite his lack of offensive skill.

Good stuff. I don’t live to far from Bradford shame that there won’t be a derby next year, although with the rate your going I would imagine it would be six easy points if they were in your league

Cheers! They're not doing too well in League One this year, down in 19th last time I checked, so you're probably right.

City game was amazing, Ayoola proving why he's already a club legend.

If anything the Everton game was crazier, with Sheldon chucking in an 8 minute hat trick to turn a 4-2 loss into a 4-5 win in the dying minutes.

Sheldon..... the new Michael Owen, apparently.

Another two months down and we're marching on well. Picked up a few bad knocks, but the team has coped well with them.

The Chelsea game continues a run of ludicrous cup games. Giving up a 95th minute peno to force extra time, taking the ET lead, only to lose, brutal.
What makes this especially standout is that 4 goal man Owusu-Ansah is a Chelsea castoff.

One player, who's deal was arranged in the summer, arrived in December, as we had to wait for him to turn 18.

fb8e7aab1c70913ada153d1bc40dd8d3.png

Lot of wages for a youngster, but it'll be worth it in the long run, I had to offer the lad a deal he'd accept on the spot to fend off some massive clubs who were interested in the ex-Setubal lad.

I did arrange two more, similar deals before this, without realizing Brexit, etc, but luckily after agreeing I saw the (must be new?) option to allow the players to join on trial until the full deal goes through, so they'll stay match fit, training and can play friendlies.

From Milan and Roma, respectively.

One big thing coming up this winter, is Thompson-Hull.

I'm thinking of selling him... He hasn't developed at all(if anything he's slightly declined), despite regular football, which is a sign of low Professionalism, something I can't fix as we have no tutors. Chelsea(who can screw off after Simeone giving us crap before and after the cup game), Man Utd and Man City are after him. They were bidding 3m+ last summer, so if a really good deal came in, I'll have to consider it.

Thats a bummer, considering he looked so good on day 1.

Aye, he looked like something special. Still it might just be a bad few months development wise, and he's playing fairly well.

Enjoying reading this tbh. No idea how you’re doing so well though. Obviously some form of tactical genius.

I like the fact you’re giving castoffs a chance of a career in football still.

Cheers!

I think a great deal of it is just playing aggressively against sides expecting to show up and turn us over without any hassle.

So, two more months down, and on we go. Winter window was unremarkable, didn't fancy any of the bids for Thompson-Hull, Chelsea got close, but screw 'em.
League Cup insanity continued, and ended in a completely bonkers moment. FA Cup, well, I guess we used up all our cup magic in the League Cup, as Arsenal dumped us out quickly and easily...

7135cb8f279524aa25d3869734a399b0.png

Bored of end to end shootouts, the boys seemingly decided to just muller Stoke in the first leg, on their own ground. Ayoola notably scoring against his old club. Second leg was a 2-1 win, for an 8-2 agg score.

Liverpool in the final...

f41d9ad6949767270202be16e8993f2f.png

I'll not lie, Liverpool played quite a few terrible players against us, and we took advantage of that, eventually... 120th minute screamer from a 17 year old left back to win the cup is outrageous, though!

Gotta love that we also cracked biggest overachiever, best match, and were the reason Man City got biggest underachiever.... We also broke the records for most goals(31) scored and most goals conceded(15)!

Kinda drifted away from it a bit the more I got into this save. Still tipping away at it a little bit, mind.
