Cinnabon09
Stekelenburg Ramos-Puyol-Lucio-Lahm Schweinsteiger-Xavi Müller-Sneijder-Kuyt Villa Subs: Neuer/Casillas Maicon Friedrich Carvalho Coentrau Annan Meireles Özil Messi Honda Forlan Actually not sure who would've won; the first-team or the subs I picked. The first-team would probably win because of having more defensive cover though. Somehow I felt obliged to put some Dutch players in the team, although I really didn't feel like it. joe__the__man
Funnily enough I caught myself thinking about this earlier haha. Going with 4-2-3-1 purely because it's been the most commonly used formation. Stekelenburg Lahm Lucio Mertesacker Coentrao Xavi Schweini Muller Sneijder Villa Forlan Subs: Casillas Eduardo S.Ramos Juan Boateng V.Bommel R.Meireles Honda Messi Kuyt Robben L.Fabiano

Cinnabon09
Oh btw Cinnabon your first side is almost definitely better, mostly because they have an extra man i have been going all nuts with the editing so must have happened sometime without me knowing it. your side is great btw. only change i would have made is mertesacker out. been going nuts with the editing because i can't get myself to seperate between having a great tournament and being a great player
joe__the__man
Haha yeah mine changed about 50 times as well. Our teams are really close tbh, both the XI and the 23. Not enough love for Mertesacker in this thread though tbh, he's been fantastic!

Crazy_T
only problem I had was the second centre back. puyol and piqué have looked shaky at times, mertesacker has done ok but looks like a disaster waiting to happen. maybe should've picked lúcio or one of the portuguese pair. tomtuck01
Everyone picking Casillas, purely on reputation surely? He's been very poor this tournament, looks so unsure all the time.
Crazy_T
wouldn't say he's been very poor at all, but you're right, there have been better (neuer, stekelenburg, eduardo for example)

JBC#1
Everyone picking Casillas, purely on reputation surely? He's been very poor this tournament, looks so unsure all the time. Definitely wouldn't say that. Made a crucial penalty save in the Paraguay game. Made one or two handy blocks in the Portugal one and hasn't conceded a goal in the knockout stages. To me that seems pretty good.

brett.spurs
Just noticed mines the same as Crazy T's, didn't copy you, honest. Casillas and Muslera have been poor for me, quite a few including Lugano aswell but from what I've seen, Godin has outperformed him.

I don't think he's been particularly outstanding this WC. Yeah he's scored 5 but two of those were deflections and another was awful goalkeeping.
