SRL88's FM12 Journeyman Career

SRL88

Recommended Posts

So we're 6 days on from the final game of the season and I receive this:

StevenLongstaffNews_Inbox-16.png

Now what the **** do I do??!!! Liverpool have just sacked Alex McLeish (why the hell he was in charge I will never know), and despite finishing above them in the league, this is the club I love and my dream job. That transfer and wage budget is fantastic and I could work wonders with them.

Putting all personal feelings aside, what would you do? Or have I already made up my own mind?

SRL88's Career - New Club Update - Liverpool FC

Name: Liverpool FC

Nickname: The Reds

Stadium: Anfield (45,362 all-seater....this will be changed)

Status: Professional

stevenlongstaffnewsinbou.png

So on Sunday May 24th 2020 I left my position at Villa Park and officially took charge as the new Manager of Liverpool Football Club. I am now in charge of the club I love, the club I have always supported (you will continue reading tomtuck :p) and aim to get them back to where they belong.

I have moved around pretty quickly in my managerial career with my longest post being the 3 1/2 years I had in charge of Darlington. I am now at a club I cant ever see myself leaving. I am 41 years old (not really, but in the game I am), and I can see myself being at this club for at least 10 years. I want to reshape this club from top to bottom and make them consistant contenders for trophies.

Finances:

In excellent shape. It just shows the difference between Villa & Liverpool.

Squad:

A pretty good squad but there are some ageing legs which I will look to replace.

Key Players:

Kyriakos Papadopoulos - Beaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssst!!!

Josh McEchran - Developed into a nice little player. Will be a perminant fixture in my starting line-up.

Alan Dzagoev - At 29 he is going to start going downhill soon, but I will look to get the best out of him while the quality is still there.

Sebastien Corchia - By far the best full back at a club. Looks a solid player.

No Board Expectations etc because of taking over at the end of the season. Will be included in a season preview.

I'd stick with Aston Villa for another season  You'll probably get bored of managing Liverpool.
I'd go. Could be the big stage for you to show what you can do. You've essentially saved Villa with the finances and took them forward. How far can they go? How fan can you take Liverpool?
Take it. It was one of your goals in the beginning, plus it's your favourite team and like Dejay said, you've saved Villa, so no hard feelings

Cheers for all your suggesstions, but as you can see, I had to take it.

Good luck with Liverpool, SRL88. Tough job to do
Villa are doomed

Good luck with Liverpool. Feels dirty saying that...

Gutted for Villa

Good to see you've landed your dream job though. Hope you can achieve everything you aim for there mate

Good luck with Liverpool, hope you give Man Utd several beatings
Don't think you could turn that Liverpool job down, looked very tempting. Good luck

Cheers for the comments lads . Looking foward to sinking my teeth into the challenge.

You did a great job with Villa, well done!

Good luck at Anfield; I took over from McLeish there too. I think I'd kill myself if was ever in contention for the Liverpool job though! #YNWA :)

Cant believe he was in charge of them. What were the board thinking!!! I probably wouldnt take over in real life because I would hate myself if I done a bad job ha.

Nice move, great to see Josh McEachran turn into a good player he is usually a let down on my saves. Does this mean we will not see a move from Liverpool for a long while?

I want to win at least everything and at a certain point a clean sweep. I havent managed Liverpool on FM for 3 or 4 years so I want a decent shot at it.

Good luck at Liverpool

Cheers mate!!!

Good luck at Liverpool. They got a very good manager in you :D Cant believe you only cost £2 million

Unbelievable isnt it. I was thinking I would be worth Villas Boas money at least :p.

SRL88's Career - Season Preview - 2020/21 Liverpool FC

Board Expectations:

Premier League:- Qualify for Champions League

Europa League:- Reach Quater Finals

FA Cup:- Reach Semi-Finals

League Cup:- Not Important

My Expectations:

Premier League:- Champions League is a must

Europa League:- Not to bothered

FA Cup:- Three years in a row would be nice

League Cup:- Win it

Budgets:

Transfer:- £83m

Wage:- £2,207,153k

Balance:- £118,217,620m

Squad:

Pretty thin at the minute but I have been getting rid of a few and aim to replace them. There is a lot of quality in the side and Im really looking forward to seeing them in action.

Key Player(s):

Hernan Ojeda - Signed for £11m from Sporting and will most likely force Pepe out the side. I wanted someone younger in and he fits the bill.

Stevan Jovetic - Best attacker at the club by far. Will be my main source of goals most likely.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos - As mentioned.......beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasssssssssssssssst :D.

David Alaba - I signed him on a free transfer and what a free transfer he is. Quality player.

Alan Dzagoev - Still a great player. Looking forward to seeing him in action.

I'd take it if approached, sod Liverpool. ;)
Yeah I would as well. You applying ??
Tough decision but I'd think the Barca job would get boring after a couple of seasons.
You can't leave your dream job without ever managing a single game. You'd instantly fall from Kop Hero to Anfield's Most Hated person... ;-)
Well, I'm not a fan of Liverpool, but it is your dream job, so if I were you, I'd stay at Liverpool and win the league with them, do well in Europe etc.

I'm sure that the Barca job will come up again :)

I don't know. I'm coming around to the Barca job and using it to unleash their youngsters

Im not leaving . Just nice to be linked!!!

Always nice to be linked with Barce

Not something worth complaining about anyway .

That's quite a balance :p

I bet you're looking forward to this season!

Cant wait. Really looking forward to it.

Not for my team sorry dude. Nice to be linked with Barcelona, if you were at any team that wasn't Liverpool would you have left?

If I was still at Villa I would have. If I had just joined a team and they approached me I would probably have stayed.

SRL88's Career - Pre-Season - 2020/21 - Liverpool FC

Friendlies

liverpoolfixturesfixtur.png

A perfect pre-season. Builds up confidence and fitness levels. The team bedded nicely together and I couldnt really have asked for more. A great way to go into the season.

A lot of players brought into the squad during the window for big fee's. It was needed to make the squad fresh and also to bring some younger players into the side to replace older legs.

Hector Solbes - Brought in to replace a 33yo Lucas who is in talks with a few clubs. Will hopefully justify his price tag.

David Alaba - An excellent free transfer. Brings a lot of quality and experience to the side.

Christopher Ord - A huge player signing which smashes Liverpool's transfer record. Will need to start scoring quickly to justify his fee, but I have every bit of faith.

Hernan Ojeda - The clubs new number 1. Will replace Pepe between the sticks.

Rob Wilson - A player I signed for Villa, from Liverpool and I have brought him back to the club.

Sergio Diaz - Cracking signing. Well worth his transfer fee.

Marcelo Chafer - Signed for just £5m and looks a bargain. Really pleased with bringing him in.

Stjepan Anicic - Signed when Jack Robinson handed in a transfer request and a great replacement for him.

Transfers - Out

Sold a lot of players, especially ones ageing or not good enough. I would have liked to keep Robinson but he wanted a new challenge.

Awesome pre season

Cheers mate.

 55M on Ord?! Good pre season as well  Hernan Ojeda looks very good

It needed to be done. Complete lack of English players at the club and he was valued at £30m anyway. Should be a big striker in the coming years for us.

The one that annoyed me is Solbes. I had him scouted by 3 scouts who all rated him at 3 1/2 stars. When I signed him he is rated no higher than 2*.
