sammayel666
Still don't understand why FIFA insist on bringing in a new ball a week or so before the WC. I understand its down to marketing, but surely you can bring the balls out at the start of the WC season and give the players time to get used to them. That way we might actually see some accurate passing...

I understand its down to marketing, but surely you can bring the balls out at the start of the WC season and give the players time to get used to them. That way we might actually see some accurate passing... Think the bundesliga have used it all season, and all national teams have had access to it for ages. Further proof that the problem is not the ball, it's the altitude. Are footballs not a regulation weight anyway? So how can this be lighter?

Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted June 13, 2010 Administrators Share Posted June 13, 2010 Are footballs not a regulation weight anyway? So how can this be lighter? Ball has to be within a range of weight iirc so can be variation.
dafuge
Is John Paintsil's name spelt wrong in this above post? I just went by the BBC spelling, I can never remember which one is right. This is a new one though.
ham_aka_stam
Are footballs not a regulation weight anyway? So how can this be lighter? Quick Wiki search specifies that the ball is an air-filled with a of 68–70 (27–28 ), a 410–450 (14–16 ), inflated to a of 0.6–1.1 (59–108 8.5–15.6 ) "at sea level", and covered in or "other suitable material". The weight specified for a ball is the dry weight, as older balls often became significantly heavier in the course of a match played in wet weather.
