Angélique Sessègnon: Good evening, Djibouti, can you hear us?

Djibouti: Loud and clear, Angélique!

Angélique Sessègnon: Your country is doing well at the moment.

Djibouti: Let’s hope we can keep it up. Here are the votes from Djibouti.

7: Mali

6: Sudan

5: Burkina Faso

4: Chad

3: Morocco

2: Niger

1: Tunisia

Djibouti: And here are Djibouti’s three biggest votes:

8 points go to…Algeria!

10 points go to……Egypt!

12 points go to…

…Nigeria!

Djibouti: This is Djibouti, over and out!

Angélique Sessègnon: Thank you Djibouti. Des Tiny’s Nigeria get maximum points there, and Robert Boyle’s Algeria keep up their strong form with eight points. Leaders Mali keep strong with seven, but are knocked off the top by Egypt.

Algeria.png?t=1280153672

Angélique Sessègnon: Good evening Algeria.

Algeria: Hello Angélique!

Angélique Sessègnon: What do you think of your country’s performance so far?

Algeria: I would like to say, “we can do a little better” but we probably can’t. I am very happy!

Angélique Sessègnon: Could you please give us your nation’s votes?

Algeria: Here are the votes from Algeria:

7: Cape Verde

6: Djibouti

5: Niger

4: Tunisia

3: Mali

2: Mauritania

1: Senegal

Algeria: And Algeria’s biggest votes;

8 points go to…Egypt!

10 points go to……Nigeria!

12 points go to…

…Sudan!

Algeria: Thank you Angélique.

Angélique Sessègnon: Well, Algeria reward Jeremy English’s Sudan’s kindness by giving them back 12 points. But Des Tiny’s Nigeria and Tyler Burrows’s Egypt are still going strong, despite not picking up the maximum there. Let’s look at the table.

SF1-4.png?t=1280153663

Angélique Sessègnon: Jeremy English’s Sudan leap up to fourth, but Des Tiny’s Nigeria lead the way. Unfortunately, Kleen Shavern’s Gambia are still waiting for votes. Mali and Eritrea are up next to vote.

Semi-Final 2: Central Africa

Okay, let’s continue with the next 16 nations. Those in this Semi-Final will be voting for each other, and iacovone will also be voting.

You should know the drill by now; give 12, 10, 8 and then 7 through to 1 points to these nations based on their performances. You could also use things such as shared borders, shared manager nationalities or just plain preference to help you with your voting. Votes should be PMed to me, and there is a 6 point penalty for incorrect voting and a 12 point one for not voting at all.

Be careful not to give points to nations listed as your neighbours, but not in this Semi-Final. Also, remember not to give votes to one nation two times. There’s also the option on the voting form to add a spokesperson, who will give the votes to Angélique Sessègnon. This could be a real or fictional person, such as a celebrity from your nation. Change this, leave it as it is, or add one if you didn’t have one last year.

Angélique Sessègnon: Hello, Egypt?

Mohamed Al-Fayed: Good evening Angela.

Angélique Sessègnon: Ooh, it’s Mohamed Al-Fayed! Tell me, Mr Al-Fayed, how’s the search for a new Fulham manager going?

Mohamed Al-Fayed: Not as well as Egypt’s Afrovision campaign is.

Angélique Sessègnon: Oh, bye bye Mr Al-Fayed! Jeremy English’s Sudan pick up 12 points but the real surprise is Hryhorii Zahorchak’s Chad taking 10 points, putting them in positive figures. How do the teams measure up now, maintenant?

SF1-8.png?t=1280320509

Angélique Sessègnon: There are no major changes, and Des Tiny’s Nigeria still lead the way, but everyone has positive points now, which is nice. Mauritania and Cape Verde vote next.

Angélique Sessègnon: Tyler Burrows’s Egypt are the new leaders, and Edward Still’s Senegal climb up into the qualification places. Sadly, Hryhorii Zahorchak’s Chad and Mentho Latum’s Tunisia are no longer able to reach the Final. Neighbours Niger and Nigeria vote next.

I hope Sao Tome's Central African friends are remembering our votes in the first Afrovision contest. With no results (again), we are reliant on our friends. Who we love very much.

EDIT: Hang on. Why've we been moved out of our region? It's a blooming conspiracy this! We've built up relationship because we play no games and then we get moved out? We've got no chance! :(

Angélique Sessègnon: Benin calling Niger!

Ouwo Moussa Maazou: Hello Benin, hello Angélique!

Angélique Sessègnon: Good evening Ouwo Moussa Maazou. Now, if you’d hold on one second…

Angélique Sessègnon: Benin calling Nigeria!

Rashidi Yekini: Hello Benin!

Angélique Sessègnon: Mr Yakini, good evening. Right, now, guys, we’re going to try something a little different. Ouwo Moussa Maazou, if you could give us Niger’s first votes.

Ouwo Moussa Maazou:

7: Mali

6: Burkina Faso

5: Sudan

4: Egypt

3: Senegal

2: Morocco

1: Tunisia

Angélique Sessègnon: Thank you Niger. Now, Nigeria, your seven smallest votes…

Rashidi Yekini:

7: Cape Verde

6: Eritrea

5: Djibouti

4: Egypt

3: Morocco

2: Sudan

1: Algeria

Angélique Sessègnon. Thank you, Rashidi. Okay, guys, give me your eight-pointers.

Ouwo Moussa Maazou: 8 points go to…Algeria!

Rashidi Yekini: 8 points go to…Mali!

Angélique Sessègnon: Now, finish off your votes, please.

Ouwo Moussa Maazou: 10 points go to……Chad!

Rashidi Yekini: 10 points go to……Chad!

Ouwo Moussa Maazou: 12 points go to…

Rashidi Yekini: 12 points go to…

Ouwo Moussa Maazou: …Nigeria!

Rashidi Yekini: …Niger!

Angélique Sessègnon: Aw, isn’t that sweet?

Ouwo Moussa Maazou: Thank you Nigeria, and thank you Angélique!

Rashidi Yekini: Thank you and good night!

Angélique Sessègnon: Niger and Nigeria reward each other with 12 points. And Hryhorii Zahorchak’s Chad pick up 20 points, but it’s too late for them. Let’s look at the penultimate table, Nigeria are surely through now.

SF1-12.png?t=1280572449

Angélique Sessègnon: Des Tiny’s Nigeria take top spot and qualify for the Final, but Tyler Burrows’s Egypt and Mikael Schøler’s Mali are also through. Morocco, Djibouti, Eritrea, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and the Gambia are all eliminated, meaning there are five nations fighting it out for two places. Morocco are the last nation to vote.

Jamel Debbouze: Bonjour Angélique! Ca roule, ma poule?

Angélique Sessègnon: C’est chouet, Georgette! Pouvez-vous nous donner les votes du Maroc?

Jamel Debbouze: Oui, bien sûr. Felicitations pour une cérémonie très belle!

7: Le Sénégal

6: Le Burkina Faso

5: Le Cap-Vert

4: L’Algérie

3: L’Égypte

2: Le Soudan

1: Djibouti

Jamel Debbouze:

8 points vont…au Mali!

10 points vont……à la Mauritanie!

12 points vont…

SF1-Final.png?t=1280674150

Angélique Sessègnon: Well, the challengers couldn’t catch up and so Jeremy English’s Sudan and Edward Still’s Senegal make it into the Final with Nigeria, Mali and Egypt, and of course with Benin. Don’t forget to join me tomorrow night, demain soir, where another sixteen nations will battle to reach the Final.

Writer’s Notes: Mali got 12 points from three nations (Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Mauritania). Egypt didn’t get any 12-pointers.

Sigh, no points. Niger miss out again (even without the 6 point deduction).

To be fair though, of the five qualifying sides, two reached the African Cup of Nations Final, one reached the World Cup 2nd Round and finished 3rd in the ACN, and the other two at least played games. Better luck next year.

Benin there, done that. Now let’s do it again!

Angélique Sessègnon: Hello and welcome back to Porto Novo, where we are hosting the second annual Afrovision Managerial Contest! Welcome also to our viewers across the world, who are watching via BATRACER: the Broadcasters, African Television, Radio and Complete Entertainment Revolution.

Angélique Sessègnon: If you were watching last night, you’ll have seen Nigeria, Mali, Egypt, Sudan and Senegal qualify for the Final, where they’ll compete for the grand prize alongside Benin. Tonight, another sixteen nations want another five spots in the Final, but who will get them? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s by farming their votes! The nations in this Semi-Final have given points to their competitors based on how well their national football teams did in the past twelve months. They gave one through seven points, and then eight, ten and twelve points to the best performers.

Angélique Sessègnon: Unfortunately, not everyone played ball. We didn’t get votes from Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya or Somalia so they will all be deducted 12 points. Rwanda didn’t vote in last year’s Final so I’m afraid they lose 12 points too. Both Uganda and Equatorial Guinea gave incorrect votes last year so they lose 6 points, and the Central African Republic are also deducted six points for incorrect votes this year. However, so many deductions means that a deduction won’t stop you from qualifying!

Angélique Sessègnon: So let’s see where that puts everyone.

Angélique Sessègnon: This is Benin calling Sierra Leone!

Mr Giggs: Hello Benin.

Angélique Sessègnon: I’m sorry, I’m afraid I can’t see your face. Could you move out of the shadow please?

Mr Giggs: No can do, Benin.

Angélique Sessègnon: Okay, well, I suppose I’d like your votes then…

Mr Giggs: Here are the votes from the Republic of Sierra Leone:

7: Gabon

6: São Tomé and Príncipe

5: Togo

4: Uganda

3: Central African Republic

2: Ivory Coast

1: Rwanda

Mr Giggs: And here are our three biggest votes:

8 points go to…the Congo!

10 points go to……Equatorial Guinea!

12 points go to…

…Liberia!

Mr Giggs: Goodnight, Angélique. Have a good show.

Angélique Sessègnon: Thank you Sierra Leone, and thank you…Mr Giggs? Was that Ryan Giggs? Well, Tomaldinho’s Liberia pick up, just like last year, 12 points from Sierra Leone.

Angélique Sessègnon: Porto Novo calling Brazzaville!

Congo: Good evening Benin! What a lovely show you put out last night. I must say I was hooked to it!

Angélique Sessègnon: Thank you Congo! You’ve already picked up eight points so have made a good start. Could you give us your votes?

Congo:

7: Sierra Leone

6: Equatorial Guinea

5: Rwanda

4: Ghana

3: Ivory Coast

2: Kenya

1: Liberia

Congo: And the most important votes;

8 points go to…Uganda!

10 points go to……Gabon!

12 points go to…

…Central African Republic!

Congo: Thank you Benin.

Angélique Sessègnon: Thank you to the Congo. Ricky Nakano’s Central African Republic pick up maximum points from the Congo, which clears their six-point deficit. And Ken Co’s Gabon pick up the 10 points. Let’s see how the table looks after the first two sets of votes.

Angélique Sessègnon: Ken Co’s Gabon lead the way at this early stage, with Tomaldinho’s Liberia second. Albert Holstein’s Ivory Coast, despite a good World Cup, make a shaky start, and are the joint-worst of the nations without points deductions. But things should pick up for them, as we travel to Rwanda and the Central African Republic!
