jayahr
After just reading this thread http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=173184 I started wondering what else might have happened to players which were really big in earlier versions of CM/FM, but actually never made it to the bigger football stages irl. Maybe some people can shed light on this (note, this is not a quiz, I really don't know) and maybe have a few more people to talk about. I'll start with dropping two names into the ring, both from CM93: Simon Funnell Richard Goulooze edit: I should apparently add that by 'FM-only legend' I do NOT mean players to made it into the EPL or played at Barcelona or other big clubs, including Porto or Ajax, for any considerable time. I mean the ones who were never anywhere near up there irl. Cherno Samba or Andri Sigporsson are great examples
poiston
I think Cherno Samba or Moses Ashikodi is playing in the Icelandic league! Brilliant
Russ_WWFC
I remember Florin Batrinu being a great freebie in CM3 for my Wycombe team. Last heard of playing for Teuta Durrës http://www.footballglory.com/players/player_transfer_history.php?id=16098

pnefc22
Yeah, Cherno Samba's career went drastically downhill He got too cocky and stopped training apparently because he thought that he was going to be like the next mega-star, and his move to Liverpool broke down I believe. Tommmm
Daniel Braaten who was one of the best in CM 03/04 moved to Bolton at one point but had little success and now he's playing for Toulouse in France.

aw083
And I'm pretty sure this is the same Adrian Mihalcea of CM3/CM99-00 fame.
aw083
Okay last one. My Polish is basic, VERY basic, but it appears that Andri Sigporsson played for Molde up until the end of 2004. Maybe he retired after that.

spankie
I think Cherno Samba or Moses Ashikodi is playing in the Icelandic league! Brilliant Moses Ashikodi is giving non-league football a stab. He's at Kettering Town in the Conference.

matt_neil41
Didn't Cherno Samba have a trial at Pompey in the summer? No it was the Gambian media (if you can call them that!) trying to get him a big move!
Dale Gribble
Julius Aghahowa has returned to Shakhtar again on a free transfer, still only aged 27. Isaac Okoronkwo, also once at Shakhtar, is now at FC Moscow after a fairly unsuccessful spell at Wolves, which I didn't know. Kim Kallstrom of course turned out to be a success in real life and features regularly in the Swedish squad and has been at Lyon since 2006. Another Swedish FM legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic () has of course gone on to be one of the worlds best strikers and plays for Barcelona. Tommy Svindal Larsen has returned to his first club Odd Grenland. Thats all I can remember from people that haven't been mentioned.

sven78
I have got a few: Jonas Lunden. Was a cracking striker around FM2006 however never got a move IRL and never left Sweden. Still playing in Sweden for GAIS. Ivica Mornar - Awesome striker in CM98. I believe he did pop up at Portsmouth......(although my guess is that many a player we mention on here will have come across Harry Redknapp). Retired in 2006. Ended up a journeyman despite some early promise in his career. Sandro - In the CM Spain version he was unreal. Had 20 for basically every worthy stat. I actually don't believe he even registered on footballs radar IRL. I remember signing him for about £500k from a second division spanish side and he was by far the best player at Barca. Amazing avg ratings, loads of goals from midfield. Made the legend guardiola look like a donkey Sharbel Touma - Awesome teenage left winger around CM99/00. Never got the big move people thought he would. Still playing in Greece.

pnefc22
Lunden was awesome on 01/02 And, Tommy Wirtanen, anyone know what happened to him? Supat Rungratsmee is still on FM10, probably still 15 hes been that age for about 5 FM's now.
jayahr
I think also an easy one: Kennedy Bakircioglü currently plays for Ajax, although he is not really a starter. Yeah, I was more looking at players who never made it to the top level rather than those who are just not the world-beaters they were in CM/FM
HowBloominAnnoying
Cristiano Ronaldo has moved to Real Madrid now i believe. But did he ever quite make it on the world stage ?!!? Iddi Alkhag - I think he even turned out for Norwich but alas IRL he was Pony !! Damian Luna - IRL I think he changed his name to Lionel Messi Dagoberto - He's gotta be playing somewhere !!!!
Vic Taylor
And, Tommy Wirtanen, anyone know what happened to him? He was at IFK Mariehamn until 2008. In 2009 he transfered to Orebro SK, where he's got a 2 year contract.
baker.simon
I think also an easy one: Kennedy Bakircioglü currently plays for Ajax, although he is not really a starter. Dagoberto plays for São Paulo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagoberto He used to be seen as a promise in Brazil but I don't remeber he being a legend in past FMs.
aw083
I think it was FM05 that Dagoberto used to be a good enough player for the Premier League, Serie A and La Liga. Could be mistaken though. I know I signed him a couple of times.
Dead Kennedy Bakircioglu
What about Philippe Christanval. One heck of a loser. One of the best young defender in CM01, played for Monaco, Marseille, Barcelona, ended at Fulham I think. He stopped his career before 30. I heard he owns a jewelry in London. Super Striker
Funniest is probably Justin Georcelin, was a 15 year old in CM 01/02 who regularly became an international superstar. In real life he got released at a young age, and is now serving time in prison after attempted robbery of a cab driver to feed a crack addiction.
