FAQ

* Can you explain the English Non-league system?

The BBC Sport website has an excellent guide to how the English non-league system operates - LINK

This file includes levels 1 to 8 activated, which is down to step 4 in the English Non-League pyramid:

Capture3.png

* Why is my team in the Northern Premier League, shouldn't they be in the Isthmian League?

One of the qwerks of the English non league steps is how much change there is every season. This all depends on which teams are selected for promotion from Level 9 that may not easily fit into the regional geography of Levels 7 and 8. For Football Manager this is a problem as whilst rules have been set for each league and the vast majority of teams, unfortunately you can't programme common sense into the data editor. On the rare occasion you may find a team sorted into the wrong division, be rest assured that when the first opportunity arises to place them back into their correct division the game will sort them correctly.

* Why do I need to add All Key Staff?

I recommend you tick 'Add key staff'. That way all the staff you need, i.e. a physio and assistant manager will be generated for the clubs where there is not one set in the database.

* Is this release compatible with my save game?

As with all other editor data files, this release is not save game compatible.

* Are you planning on providing a data update for these teams so they have the correct players and staff etc?

This is not a player data update, no players have been added or their stats amended and I have no intention of adding this information.

* What is the rulebook?

The editor is limited in what match and competition rules can be input. As an example, clubs in Levels 7 and 8 are only permitted to give a player a contract, known as League Forms, for one playing season only.

I've reviewed the Isthmian, Southern and Northern League Handbooks and Rules and I have devised a simple rule book for gamers to follow (if they wish) to help make playing these leagues more realistic. The Rulebook PDF is combined within the file download.

* There's something wrong with your file/I'd like to help you with this release, where do I go?

If you want to help with this project and others please check out FMUpdates.com.

Finally, Please Note:

By downloading this file you agree to not re-release it or host it in its original form, or in any edited form, without first seeking and obtaining express prior permission from FMUpdates.com - this includes redistribution of this file in 'Megapacks'. Please PM me if you wish to discuss link the download to your site.

Gripper @ SI

The place to post any data issues you may have with any level 7 and 8 clubs is as follows:

Isthmian League (Ryman) Data Issues thread

Southern League (Evo-Stik) Data Issues thread

Northern Premier League (Evo-Stik) Data Issues thread

Each of those leagues has a dedicated Head Researcher, who will consider all posts for any future data updates. Also, if you are interested in helping with the research for your local level 7/8 club, please let the Head Researcher know via either Private Message or a post in those threads. The level of data is only as good as the amount of quality support the Head Researchers get, as you would appreciate how difficult it is to get good data for all 60-something teams in each of the three regional set-ups.

On behalf of SI research team, I welcome uncle ron's work as a great addition to the FM portfolio.

This database last year was amazing guys! its a shame you're not taking it further, but i will deffo download and have a saved game with it guys, good luck, How many weeks will it be after release will it be avaliable?

We may be taking it further.

We plan to perfect Levels 7 and 8 first and then see whether it could be taken further.

We'll only be able to confirm potential release once FM2012 is out as a lot of checking is needed within the new editor.

I love this database due to the care and effort put into it. It really does feel like something that belongs in the game from the start, unlike most other databases which are just thrown together and fixed until they work and that's that.

Going to download this as soon as it's available.

Thank god this is still in the pipeline! Fantastic work last year getting everything as close to real life as possible! Personally I would stick to what you did levels wise. There is no need to go any further. I say this because I find most people end up getting promoted in levels 11 to 7 at Tue first attempts so would be pointless. Stick to level 8, don't fix what ain't broke!

I can't imagine playing FM without this database anymore. I'm a big fan of FA Cup rebuilt to include Extra Preliminary, Preliminary and 1st Qualifying Rounds and FA Ground Grading Requirements implemented into the game and I know it can't be done without the advanced panels in the editor. All I really want is to have a bug free and stable databse in March 2012 after the 3rd patch when I will start a long-term save because that's what I do every year.

Also a big fan of this database, if you could go one or two levels lower that would be amazing, but this is the database I always load for playing in England, even over some of the level 10/11/12 databses that are out there, simply for its high quality. Keep up the good work :)

Quality takes priority over quantity, so just stick to Level 8 as this is the lowest level which includes real players for most of the teams. Thanks for providing us with one of the most solid FM11 databases Ron. KUTGW!

Looking forward to this as this is the most professional DB in FM. I am still playing FM2011 version with Truro and have reached 2029 and still enjoying it. Will probably wait until this is released before buying 2012

Ron and the boys will no doubt produce an excellent database again.

Thanks for all your kind words about this project. I'm glad you have all enjoyed your previous FM saves with this League Update.

We will be concentrating on perfecting Levels 7 and 8 before even considering taking this any lower.

As for a potential release date, until the FM12 editor is released and we can check the compatibility of the existing data, we're unable to offer any specific dates.

All I can say is that as usual we'll take our time to get things working properly and tested before releasing. So for now continue to enjoy your FM11 saves.

For anyone who has played with this update previously....

Are there any improvements, information missing or enhancements within Levels 7 and 8 that you would like to request for FM2012?

Not level 7&8 per se, but how about correct reserve and youth set-ups incorporated into your already excellent file?

Hi guys, it's great to be working on this file again this year. I've been hard at work implementing all the league fixtures for every league since they were announced. Rest assured that once I release the activation for the Advanced Rules I will concentrate on releasing this file.

You can find more information about FMUpdates in the 2nd post. Come have a look around if you wish :)

Sorry if this has been mentioned but will you be doing a version with the County's cup disabled? Havnt made up my mind if i want to be involved in these cups when im in the championship/prem (if i ever get there).

Thanks

The answer is yes

The complete lack of info does suggest the editor won't be very different to the last one. Hopefully the problem with not being able to load up 2 league files will be solved. I'd love to combine uncle ron's file with a lower league Scottish file.

Assuming little difference, do you estimate 2 or 3 days, or 2 or 3 weeks?

It'll be ready when it's ready.

Lots of things to check, plus Mr Magic needs toget the advanced panels working for FM2012.

Stay patient and you will be rewarded....

Plus I'm working on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so won't get as much time initially to work on this until the beginning of next week.

Rest assured I will assess the data as soon as I can and figure out what needs to be done. Until then, there's no point in speculating. It'll come out when it is ready :) and it will be great!

Brilliant! As an AFC Totton fan I can't wait to download this! I'm new to FM so I don't really know anything about it or what you do with these updates. Are all the players and information on clubs correct? E.g. On FM this morning I go to AFC Totton and the players are all just random made up players and there is little or no information about the club in the 'Information' section. When you do these additions are all those sort of things correct?

Off-topic, so apologise.

If you are interested in improving AFC Totton data for any official SI releases in future, please let me know and I'll put you in touch with the Head Researcher for the Southern League.

Interruption over, back to waiting for uncle ron's inevitably superb update.
