Club: Aston Villa

Division: English Premiership

Transfer Budget: Between £15 and £40m depending on goals/wage adjustement etc.

Key Players: Gareth Barry, Ashley Young.

Good Points: Good young British squad, financially very strong.

Bad Points: Very small squad still young & inexperienced, no right back to speak of and in need of a cover left back.

Additional Info: With the right manager, Villa's young lions could become great although not a team to manage for quick success.

Club: Arsenal

Division: Premier League

Transfer Budget: 25-50+M after budget adjustment

Key Players: Van persie, Fabregas, Toure, Gallas

Good Points: A LOT of quality in the reserves and U18's. Many potential stars. Vela, Djourou, Barazite, Merida, Denilson just to name a few.

Bad Points: Squad needs to be bolstered. But you have enough money to do so.

Additional Information: Probably not the best team for the demo, but when the game comes out, Arsenal would be one of the best clubs especially if you are one who likes to nurture talent rather than buy. In the reserves/U18's, you'll probably have almost a full future squad. Definitely the team for someone who doesnt care to buy a lot. You'll probably struggle in the first season a little though seeing as the young ones will need time to develop and gel.

Isn't it always the same. Now that I have the patch installed i'm struggling to choose a team from my own team - Rangers to who in the EPL to be.

Looking for a challenge/career game or do I start with the familiar players from Rangers to get used to the systems. With easier attempt into the Champions league and a squad of players that only need slight adjustment to push on.

Do i try the EPL with a big team for easier ride to find my feet with tactics, etc. Do you pick a team outside the big four & try to gatecrash the big four and get into the champions league places.

Is it the Championship for a team to promote and build for survival in the EPL the following season or do I go even lower to the CCL1 to try to resurrect the fallen giants that are Leeds & Nottingham Forest.

Does anyone else have this FM08 dilema?

Seeking a new challenge. Playing with Valencia (my favourite team) is way too easy. Didnt want to open a new thread, so am posting here.

Anyway i am looking into taking a Championship Club (Small or Sleeping Giant) to Premier League and become a force to be reckoned with.

What i require is a team:

1) With good young players with potential. So that i dont have to replace entire 11 team to compete in the Premiership.

2) At least a bit of transfer budget enough to land a player or two (Maybe around 1 Mill Pound)

3) A bit of reputation so that at least i can attract decent players on loan.

Would appreciate a response to my query.

Club: Worcester City

Division: Blue Square North

Transfer Budget: None!

Key Players: Troy Wood, Craig Wilding, Danny McDonnel

Good Points: Consistent goal scorers, Superb shot stopping keeper!

Bad Points: Defence in general, lack of players at peak age

Additional Information: Expectation is 9th. Promotion is very achievable through the play-offs if you find a decent formation and loan in a strong midfielder and at least one strong DC.

Just finished my Exams, and the first thing i did was buy FM 08. Now im looking who to manage, and im strongly considering leeds. I'm looking to rebuild a team from scratch, develop some homegrown talent, and bring the club back some success. I know its gonna be hard but thats whats good about FM. Now what i wanna know is that go you guys think its a good idea for the first team to Manage in FM 08 to be a weak team, or would it be better if i took over someone like liverpool for while and kinda got more used to tactics and all.

Club: Coventry

Division: Championship

Transfer Budget: 0

Key Players: Doyle, Giddings, Ward, McNamee

Good Points: Good fan base, moderate club expectations. Good challenge.

Bad Points: With the existing team you cant go any further than club expectations. Weak up front, no creative midfielder, no holding midfielder, only one decent right back. In short you may need to ring a lot of changes, but the challenge is you dont have much money, nor will a lot of players will want to come to your club.

Additional Information: If you can get hold of Piatti, Fortune (on free), Aaritalo and Kalla who is free at the beginning of the game, you have the basic framework for promotion.

Arsenal Update for 8.0.2

Club: Arsenal

Division: Premier League

Transfer Budget: £68mil for title challenge

Key Players: Fabregas, Toure, Adebayor, van Persie

Good Points: Young squad, doesnt need too many additions. great youth academy, Wilshere, Nordtveit and Lansbury have all become great on 8.0.2

Bad Points: Weak wide players, Hleb and Rosicky only decent wingers. Ageing keepers, Almunia and Lehmann not too good anyway.

Additional Information: Sign Lloris and Fernandez and you should be OK. Invest mostly in youth such as Sakho, Lulinha, Saivet, Fleck.
