  1. Thanks for all the suggestions! I've gone for Leipzig but will probably try some of the others down the line too.
  2. Hi all, Looking to start a save with a team matching the below criteria... A good number of U21/youth prospects who can become first teamers in the future Good youth setup (facilities, training, scouting) Mid table or similar expectations (not challenging for top 3/4) Stable finances are fine, not necessarily rich Don't have to be in the top league of their nation, but ideally in one of the top leagues I've been toying with Nantes, Atalanta, etc. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, -TV-
  3. Playing as Tottenham, signed Lucas Lima from Santos for £3.2m, immediately worth £27m!
  4. Might be worth trying this... Offer Sanchez out at £80m on the very first day of the save. Once the £40-50m bids come in, open them up to negotiate. Negotiate the price back up to £70 and put the completion date as 'End of Season' and lock it down to non-negotiable. Should be able to get the best of both worlds.
  5. Congrats on the league win jim! Some of the youngsters are coming along nicely, how are Bittencourt and Dudziak doing? Do you have a screenie of Crisetig?
  6. Just started a save with Dortmund. Only player I have sold is Grosskreutz to Porto for £12m, just because he doesn't have the technical ability I'm looking for in my attacking midfielders and I couldn't see him getting many games. I have signed... Okore (£1.3m) - Will use him as initial cover at DC and hopefully make him a future starter. Del Horno (free) - Just to cover Schmelzer for the first season until I get some more funds. Peruzzi (loan and £3.5m future fee) - More cover at DR as I'm not convinced how well Piszczek will perform defensively and Owomoyela's lack of pace will be exposed by some of the better wingers in the league. Zanetti (free) - Short-term cover for Kehl while Bender is injured and a decent mentor too. Yttergard Jenssen (£1.2m) - Got him at a bargain price so plan to sell him on within 12 months, once Leitner has developed a bit more. Wellington Nem (£3.5m) - Bargain wonderkid. Versatile and fits well in to how I want my team to play. Carlos Fierro (£3.8m) - One for the future really, but will give him game time in hope he performs well enough to potentially be a first team player when I have to sell Lewandowski. Also signed Adryan (£875k) and Luxbacher (£6k) but they won't get much action first season. When I brought in Wellington Nem, I loaned out Bittencourt to Hertha Berlin as I didn't think he would play much. He scored an 'acrobatic effort' 11 minutes into his debut for them, then got stretchered off with a broken leg 10 minutes later and is now out for 5-6 months. Not happy! Lost the Supercup against Bayern 3-0, well and truly dominated, but my preseason results since then have been much better - including a 6-2 victory against Napoli. Won my German Cup 1st Round game 3-0 against Oberneuland, Kuba got 2 and Wellington Nem scored on his debut. I've got HSV in Round 2. Just played my first game of the season against Stuttgart (H). Kehl gets himself sent off after 3 mins for violent conduct, which is hardly the best start! I adjusted my tactics to play direct on the counter, but Stuttgart went 1-0 up in the 20th min. We cleared a corner just before half time, Gotze put Lewandowski through and he smashed one in at the near post from outside the box. But it all went wrong again when Schmelzer picked up a needless second yellow card in first half injury time and it was backs to the wall once more - 11 against 9!! I tinkered at half time and decided to go with no wingers (Kuba and Reus off, Del Horno and Yttergard Jenssen on) and played 4 at the back, 2 MC's, Gotze as AMC® and Lewandowski as FC(l). Lewandowski got hauled down at a corner in the 65th min and the ref gave us a penalty, which Hummels absolutely smashed in! I went even more defensive, then 7 mins later Yttergard Jenssen weaved through 3 Stuttgart midfielders and split their defence with a through-ball to Lewandowski, who nutmegged the keeper to seal the win. What a game!!!
  7. I'm in agreement. This, coupled with the terrible defending in matches, has caused me to revert back to my trusty FM11 for now. Talk about killing the enjoyment.
  8. I sometimes manage two or three clubs - normally a big team and two smaller teams, in order to give player time to my stars of the future. Too many times have I loaned out potential stars so they get game time, to find them not playing at all. For example, I'm currently managing Man Utd, Watford and Hertha Berlin. So I loan out my United stars and it helps their progression whilst saving money at the smaller clubs!
  9. I signed that Cristian Tiboni guy at the end of my first season (his agent offered him to me) and he is tearing up the BSP. Him and Ngo Baheng are incredible. Tiboni's has attributes that would see him succeed in the higher leagues but he joined me on only £700 per week!
  10. Thanks for the heads up on Varane. That's great news about Makengo. He only cost me £1.2m as well. Will have to make sure I give him plenty of cup games and sub appearances.
  11. Cheers. I'm at the start of the first season - editted Carroll out and £35m in! Don't want to go too mad on big transfers and Jones would cost me £10m. I will have a look at the guy from Teplice as I have never heard of him before. I know of Romario and will try to snap him up. Got quite a few in already and some more in the pipelines to build a good future for Newcastle... GK - Smithies DR - Raul (Atletico Paranaense), Seamus Coleman (loan) DC - Rafael Toloi, Agbossoumonde, Senah Mango DL - Dodo DM - G. Fofana (Le Havre) MC - Markus Henriksen AML - T Hazard ST - L Griffiths, T Makengo, Tiago Alves (Jan 2011) Also signed Christian Benetiz (ex Birmingham) for £1.5m..
  12. Thanks for the feedback guys. You were right, Vrsaljko didnt get a work permit and Appiah chose Man Utd over me. I got Agbossoumonde for DC and Raul from Atletico Paranaense for DR.
  13. Can anyone recommend some future prospects for the DC, DR, DL and DM positions??
  14. Start of Season 1 and I am Newcastle... Should I buy: Agbossoumonde for 1.2m, Shane Duffy for 1.9m or Senah Mango for 1.2m?? Dennis Appiah for 2.6m or Sime Vrsaljko for £1.2m?? Also, should I get Daniel Kofi Agyei for £3.2m when I've just got Guieda Fofana for £450k??? Thanks TV.
  15. How does Duffy turn out? Screenshot anyone??
  16. Try offering Nani a new contract if you don't want to sell him. More money might keep him happy.
  17. Thanks foggy. I just beat Birmingham 1-0. I really feel like the tinkering and small changes I make throughout the game from watching the match is really making the difference, especially in these bottom of the table 'six pointers'. I'm up to 13th now but a couple of teams below me have a game in hand. (EDIT - they both got beat )
  18. YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH! First win of the season!!!! I beat Newcastle 2-1 at St James Park in a nail biting game. I just edged the posession with 51% They had 16 shots to my 8 - but only one of mine was off target, compared to 5 of theirs. Crucially, I had 4 clear cut chances while they only got 3. Gilks again looked reliable in goal. Cathcart and Evatt were solid again, and even Eardley had a good game this time round against the pace and trickery of Jonas. Zanev at left back comitted 4 of the teams 10 fouls and picked up our only booking, so I might put him on Easy tackling next game (he has 15 for Aggression). Basham was quiet and only made one tackle all game, but at least he didn't make any massive mistakes. Adam was once again poor and the game completely changed once I took him and Dembele off. I brought on Tomas Horava and Tom Cairney. Cairney went into the Advanced Playmaker role at MC, I moved Vaughan out to AM L and DJ Campbell to the lone striker role as a Poacher. Horava went in at MC with a Central Midfielder [Attack] role. He changed the game - scoring the first and setting up DJ Campbell's winner (after Xisco had scrambled an equaliser for the Geordies). Horava was Man Of The Match but Campbell and Vaughan also played very well. I'm now in 16th, overtaking Newcastle on goal difference. Next up in the league - Birmingham at home then Wolves away. -TV-
  19. Thanks for the advice. Well I just drew 0-0 with Blackburn, although they had 12 shots to my 5. Possession was fairly even, I had 47%. Both Evatt and Cathcart played really well at the back for me, and Gilks didn't make any howlers - thank god! Eardley looked a bit dodgy though. Basham wasn't great at DM so I'm looking forward to Southern getting himself fit again. Vaughan played well at CM and later at AML. Charlie Adam was disappointing yet again. DJ Campbell made some good runs and dribbles but just no end product. Garra Dembele worked his backside off up front on his own, closing down their defenders well thanks to his high Determination attribute. I told them post match that I was pleased with the result and defend Dembele in the press conference afterwards. I need to keep the morale up otherwise we will never get a win. The team are still blending and getting used to the tactics. Away at Newcastle next, which will not be an easy game.
  20. Argh. I'm finding it really difficult with Blackpool.. 6 games played - 3 draws and 3 defeats. I've scored a decent 9 goals but conceded 13! I've extended my coaching staff limits from 6 to 8, and brought in some good coaches to give me as good a chance as possible of improving my current first teams attributes. Gonna try a few things different with tactics. Not of the back four are particularly quick, so figure I will have to defend with a deep defensive line. Set both centrebacks to Limited Defender due to their composure and decisions not being too high. Next up is a home game against Blackburn which I really need to be taking 3 points from. I'm currently 17th in the league. Any tips from fellow Seasiders would be apreciated!! -TV-
  21. Roary.. and chance of a screenie of your players stats for the season, so we can see who performed for you?
  22. Has anyone been using Ben Amos? I sent Kuszczak out on loan then read on here about Van Der Sar's clause for an extension if he plays 30 league games. I could do without his extra £50k per week on my wage bill, especially since his attributes are declining and will be even worse by the start of season two. So I've been giving Amos a few games and he's done pretty well up to now. Played 5 league games. Conceded 2 goals. 3 clean sheets. Both the goals he let in were due to him being stood in the wrong place in the net, so I've got him focusing on his Positioning.
