Martin_
In April 1900, Charlie Williams scored in a First Division match for Manchester City against Sunderland with a long clearance from his own area, and become the first goalkeeper on record to score a competitive goal. After a solid career as player and a manager, he retired to South America, and perhaps inspired the South American tradition of the goalscoring Goalkeeper. Rogerio Ceni of Sao Paulo holds the record for most goals scored by a Goalkeeper at 83, surpassing legend Jose Luis Chilavert, who has scored more international goals and penalties than any other 'keeper. The Bulgarian Dimitar Ivankov holds the European player record at 37 goals, and in total 18 goalies have scored more than ten goals. Now a new generation of Goalkeepers has emerged to challenge these titles. 36 young hopefuls are taking on the challenge in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico in the hope of surpassing Ceni's 83 goals and maybe, just maybe, hitting the magic 100 number. You can view our 36 hopefuls here: http://img25.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=yomamaw.jpg You can view the sign-up thread here: http://community.sigames.com/showthread.php?t=119047 May the legends begin. Martin_
So far, 8 players earned u21 caps before the game even began on 18th of December, and by the 1st of Jan four players had found new clubs, although bizarrely Rickidinho will have to wait 2 1/2 years before joining his choice of club. Most players already have a few clubs interested in them. First update will come after six months game time.

Martin_
2008/09 Season Update Note: this update does not include players playing in Brazil, as their season runs Jan to Dec. They will get their own season updates. Andrew Jackson Young Andrew has picked up his first Senior cap for Trinidad, coming on as a sub and keeping a clean sheet against Turks and Caicos Islands, and is absolutely delighted. A trial with AFC Wimbledon in January did not result in a permanent move but they are still interested. 08/09 Total Score: 2 points. Brettney Luis Zelador Still without a club in spite of 4 youth caps for Bolivia, interest is heavy and he will probably be picked up during the summer. Brian Woodsanchez One youth cap for Paraguay and Bazanez of Uruguay sniffing. Burnsinho Still no call up or club, hopefully time isn't running out for Burnsinho to get himself noticed. Carlos Chilavert Has signed for San Luis of Mexico on a tenner a week until 2012, the club came second in the closing championship but then went out in the first round of the play-offs. Not yet broken into the first team. Chocaldinho Three youth caps for Cuba and a few clubs are chasing his signature this summer. Cowdinho In spite of being a fixture in the Belgian u21 squad, Cowdinho was unable to find a club and has already retired from football. Cowdinho's Belgian nationality hints that this may be a difficult game for players who are not known in South America. Darren Gilmartin Another victim, same situation as above but for Croatia. Hopefully he will prosper in his new career. Demirinho Has been picked up by Monterry on £10p/w, and is already worth £825k. Edson Renalinho Made his international debut for Guyana, forsaking any chance of playing for Brazil in the future. Conceded 1 goal in a friendly fixture against St Kitts and Nevis. 08/09 Total Score: -1pt Edward di Carpio Two full caps for Wales and already a favourite of John Toshack, di Caprio hasn't broken into the Marseille first team yet, but surely it is only a matter of time. Kept a clean sheet in his first game, a 3-0 win over Azerbaijan, before a 2-1 friendly win over Lithuania. 08/09 Total Score: 1pt El Hijo del Loco 6 youth caps for Bolivia has not earned del Loca any attention from clubs yet. Hugo Chavez In the youth team at Cruz Azul, worth 800k. Like Demirinho, was strangely released by original club. Hulk 5 u21 caps for Singapore and a lot of clubs currently sniffing around the big green man. Jesus Chivas Joined Castilla, the B-team of Real Madrid, but has not aquitted himself well so far at the world's biggest club, conceding 9 goals in 4 games. 08/09 Total Score: -9 Swinhosa da Costa - formerly Jimmy Riddlinho Bagged himself two youth caps for Venezuela, but no clubs look like coming in for him at the moment. Jose Almondinho The pressure of competing with Rofldinho for an u21 place took is toll on poor Jose, causing a nervous breakdown that has landed him in a mental institution and, sadly, ended his promising football career. Liam Ferguson Never got a look in anywhere, and the young englishman has disappeared off the face of the earth. Two more players demonstrate the peril of being a European goalkeeper. Nike A single cap for Spain u19s has got Atletico Madrid sniffing. Pablinho For the monent nobody is looking at the promising Italian who already has 5 u21 caps. PeeWee Hermanandez Joined Tecos on the same crappy deal all the Mexican goalkeepers are getting, now worth 600k. Powellinho No caps but a few clubs are starting to notice the youngster. Rene Has earned an England u19 cap and will be joining Pumas Morelos of Mexico in two years time, who narrowly avoided relegation this season. If he's lucky they'll still be in an active league by the time he gets there. Rickidinho Still playing for Canada u20s, still going to Miami in 2011. Rofldinho Beat away the competition in Portugal and now has 7 u21s caps, Braga are chasing his signature. Sergio Goalscoreo Not been picked up by anybody, club or international as of yet.. Sergio Pacheco ... and neither has he. A bad time to be called Sergio in South America. Shazinho Ali Our fifth victim, has already given up on finding a club, especially strange as neither Bolivia nor Nicaragua are overflowing with talent. Theo Stargarakis Four u21 caps for Greece, but with Aston Villa approaching will the young greek switch his allegience? Tyler Burrows Last seen in an airport bar in northern Spain, saying "If I can't even get a ******* call up for Andorra then what's the point?". Missing presumed disillusioned, victim number 6. Whoopedeenho Absolutely nothing has happened to this player, so nothing to whopee about. Yo Mama Established as Ireland u21s first choice, and attracting the interest of a few Brazilian and Portuguese teams. And that's it for 08/09, not much happening so far but we're slowly getting in gear. Don't worry if your player hasn't been mentioned so far, it means they've elected to play in Brazil and will get their own update shortly. Six players have already given up on football (and some possibly life!)
brettney1980
Brettney Luis ZeladorStill without a club in spite of 4 youth caps for Bolivia, interest is heavy and he will probably be picked up during the summer. 4 caps is good ... now to decide which of the hundreds of clubs chasing me to sign for

Chelsea4Lyf
Rofldinho Beat away the competition in Portugal and now has 7 u21s caps, Braga are chasing his signature. Sweet looks like I won the battle for the Portuguese U21 spot

Martin_
Update: North American Gold Cup 2009 Chocaldinho makes his full international bow for Cuba in the Gold Cup and starts all three games, unfortunately Cuba are hammered and finish bottom of their group with no points and eight goals conceded. Trinidad faired a little better, and Andrew Jackson recovered from conceeding 5 against the USA to help Trinidad to a 2-2 draw against Canada and beat Panama 2-1, allowing them to scrape into the quarter final. Honduras were too powerful however and hit Trinidad for 3 without reply. Points Table Name 08/09 Andrew Jackson -9 Chocaldinho -8 Edson Renalinho -1 Edward di Carpio 1 Jesus Chivas -9 Don't worry too much about negative points so far, its very likely for the first few years as players develop. Martin_
2009 season report Baba Signed for Bacabel EC in the Brazilian Third Division, is yet to feature for the club but has been promoted to the first team since the end of the season. Contract expires in the new year, and 30 reserve games have yeilded 8 clean sheets and 44 goals conceeded, will it be enough to earn a new contract? Babacel came 5th in their Division 3 group, and could easily have made the second group stage or been relegated, so tight was their league. Bo 2 u21 caps for Ivory Coast earned him a move to Rio Branco, where he has only shown glimpses of his potential in the youth team. Rio Branco were relegated, so he may choose to leave when his contract expires at the end of the month. Cesar Maluco Joined Fast Clube, and has had a good season in the u20s, keeping 8 clean sheets in 22 appearances, conceeding less than a goal a game. Ricardo Browninho Broke into the first team of River AC (PI) towards the end of the season, conceeding 7 goals in 5 games, with 1 clean sheet and 1 yellow card. Total Score 2009: -6pts These Brazilian players seem to be getting somewhere, with luck next season we should have a first team regular to talk about. Martin_
Woo! Already got some caps and i'm being chased by a few clubs. Pity about the eight goals, but Cuba have hardly got the greatest football team ever. Bring on domestic football! Chocaldinho has picked up 5 more caps in 2009, so he's not doing too bad Cuba are cack though I'm afraid, he managed to keep one clean sheet in a 0-0 draw, but then let 11 in, in the next four. They aint going to the world cup.
