He managed to keep them on distance while they played there first few matches in the formation which Samir had given the very beautiful name, "Le Baguette".

I'm annoyed at myself for choosing such a hard team. :seagull:

Instead of going for a team with low expectations where all I would have to do was avoid relegation, I was greedy and went for a team who had good facilities. This in turn comes at a price in terms of increased expectations/ I gave by save a proper go and still couldn't survive. You would think that I would have learnt my lesson by now.

Well done to all who are still battling away. :applause:

The guy who looks like he should be on a watch list has landed in the south of France after frauding his way into a job.

They won a Ligue 2 title way back when and have a 10,000 capacity stadium, should do us for a while!

Time for Claude van Fraude to fraud his way up France.

We commit penalties, and we're good at it.

That's really impressive! Maximuss is proud!

We got our third win of the season as well!

Against the then 5th placed Nimes Olympique res. at that.

We're still doing horrendous, and the board are no longer liking it.

We have four more games to get 5 points. Should be easy, right?

April 2, 2019.

Dear Diary,

Today was a big day.  A new cellmate could mean so many different things.

I did not want a repeat of the experience when I first arrived, so I made sure I was prepared.  I filed my toothbrush into a shiv, snorted some of that powdered seahorse Luc gives us before matches, and worked myself into a proper rage.  I wasn't going to take it from anyone.  Never again.

Turns out, my new cellmate was about my size.  Armed with my toothbrush and in the red mist of a seahorse-induced rage, he was no match for me.  I made him my ***** within 5 minutes of lights-out.

On the pitch, I'm finding this harder lifestyle suits me.  The lads love to train, so we train.  7 days a week.  4 hours per day.  There's nothing like it.  No distractions.

Especially not with the imminent kickoff of the intra-prison league, which only runs through the summer months.  At first I thought we would going to annihilate the opposition, until our keeper got put in solitary for a month and our best winger was paroled.

Lots of jokes about how the transfer windows are always open here, but we need a miracle.  We're away to Fleury-Mérogis 'A' first next week.

Rumor has it that 2 former Marseille lads play up top for them, having been sent up for plotting to fix matches.  But that could just be a rumor.

I'd better bring my toothbrush, just in case.

Dear Diary,

I've been pushed to the edge.  Fleury-Mérogis destroyed us.  It was awful.  Our reserve keeper was beaten with bars of soap in socks for his awful showing.

I was forced to do something I feared doing.  I had no choice.

When we returned to Clairvaux, I went to see the man called "Le Rouge" in the yard.

And uttered those fateful words.

"I understand you're a man who knows how to get things."

"Yeah, I've been known to locate certain things from time to time."

TA Rennes - proving Zinedine Fraudane wrong

Mid-season update 2019/2020

Transfers

This year we lost fullback/centerback Daouda Gérard who got poached by USON Mondeville, after DM Boubacar Diawara had retired. We're now down to 15 players from the original squad, including 3 keepers. All kids beyond them (at least some of them are now thankfully 16 and can start playing), are completely useless. Fun times.

This had started pretty damn great. With 6 wins in the first 8 matches, we looked set for a promotion bid, even if annoyingly Brest B just kept on winning every game and opening a margin upfront. Nevertheless, we toyed with 2nd place. That is, until we progressively lost form, and by now look pretty far from 2nd place nevermind 1st. We sit 4th at the turn of the calendar year again.

There was another glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel, in the shape of a cup run, which could hopefully give us a bit of money or reputation or hope or anything. Two huge wins over lower league amateur sides (5-0 then 9-0) made me think we could go far in here. But Blois Foot 41, who are top of another National 3 division, quickly killed our hopes in the 7th round.

With Jealous by Labrinth playing Maximuss sits and cries.

Alone. Abandoned.

No one wants to help him.

Not even Samir

@Makoto Nakamura's Aubagne properly thrashed us. Meaning we need to win both of our next 2 games otherwise Maximuss is OUT.

Great. Thanks, Mako!

Just after having our first ever Ligue 1 match, and it was a victory!

A well earned one with an injury time scorcher by (now) club legend Oumar Diaby, assisted by future legend Yannick Laporte.

2020/21 Mid-Season Update

Le Fraude Noir

e3ba172847309ab22ce62e0a34bcb58a.png

Romain ~ Rocchi ~ Mustivar ~ Vincent

I've gone against the purist rules and signed players (though a purist would have thrown me out the door with my manager attributes/experience and signing Cahuzac). I am now Le Fraude Noir, as I have allowed myself to sign players that have come through our academy. Two years after his £750k deal to Lens, Julien Romain is back where he started. Rocchi gives us a quality left wing option while Haitian Soni has been superb for us. Vincent has just joined us. I have others on my list.

Ligue Deux

aa0aace8c645e8a43824dae5f5fe6141.png

We've taken the Ligue 2 by storm and but for a monumental bottle job we should be looking for promotion at the first time of asking.

Les Cupes

feae6737ed3606ee3587651c1c7a2a68.png

We've had a good run in the League Cup and face Toulouse in the final 8. Lyon await us in the French Cup 9th round after we beat the Reunion champs and a National 3 side.

Bassole has forced himself into the side as our first choice striker. For what he lacks in technical ability he makes up for with physical dominance.

May 17, 2019.

Dear Diary,

The day has finally arrived.  My rock hammer is here, so that I can hand-carve a subbuteo board and players, to give the lads tactical advice on.

(We're not allowed to have magnets after a recent incident involving a can opener and 3 industrial-strength magnets.)

Give it a few months, and our set piece routines are going to be off the hook.

I also managed to befriend one of the guards, who coaches his niece's U16 side.  Turns out they'd inverted the libero the wrong way.  Once I set him straight, I began to live in relative luxury -- safe from beatings and the like, favored with choice portions of the prison "stew," etc.  It isn't life on the outside, but it is a few shades better than it was a month or so back.

(It isn't a stew.  Not by any measure or definition.  But this Irish lad in here with me calls it a stew and we're all terrified of him...even the guards.  One of these days, though, we're going to have to set him straight on what a stew is and isn't.)

May 25, 2019.

Dear Diary,

The Irish lad, Drake, has finally accepted what a stew is and isn't.  We don't see eye to eye on much, but on that we can agree.

I wonder if this is the start of a beautiful friendship?

He even offered to help me carve the subbuteo players.  He's quite handy with the rock hammer and even managed to add a crest and numbers to the players' kits.

You'd never know it by looking at him, but he's in here for murder.  He won't talk about the details, though...doesn't want to dwell on the past.  Just makes a life for himself in here, where he's an important man.

I made the mistake over dinner tonight of talking about my plan to return to managing upon my release.  He was outraged.  Resentful.  Bitter.

"Hope? Let me tell you something, my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. It's got no use on the inside. You'd better get used to that idea."

And with that, he left.  Didn't even finish his stew.

End of 2019 Season Review

I wrote this season off as soon as lost players, and just focused my efforts on avoiding the drop and keeping my job.  In hindsight I probably should've ticked add players to playable teams, but what's life without a little difficulty?

Key Players

3ba4c63eb2ea886fe4339e2dc27ee5d3.png

He was our best player, but will likely only be here one more season.

db2a4259eaa590b8fa9d16312feb3f25.png

It's hard being a goalkeeper when you only have 6 players for most of the season.

3a733190ecf9e6fcc00070ec1c141d04.png

Will likely be gone after next season as well.

Next Season

Our second youth intake was amazing, so once they begin to turn 16 our team should be reasonable. I think we have one more year of struggle, and I think mid table is still too much to ask.
