Month kicks off with a tricky cup tie. The cup is fully dedicated to a full rotated 11, Gives players a chance to break into the main 11 and it has been the case some cup performances have shifted players into starting 11. Squad depth this year has allowed it to be cut throat in the first team if a player has a bad game he is simply out next game.

Rosenborg is a true revenge match after they robbed us of our first title! Then its bogey team Bodo/Glimt that Nesselquist has failed to beat since taking charge.

We make hard work off it but into the next round. Safe to say the shooting boots need some polishing.

cd364985e4ef490c9edcfa171d5d822d.png

A very favourable draw at this stage in the competition, Home tie and lower league.

Dominated the relegation battlers, The fresh players pays off. second goal is my goal of the month!

6f7a5d65c2ee6e57c1cea3aa7f3bc488.gif

Jorgensen (RPM) plays into Lauritsen (DLF) lays of to Aas (SS) who knocks wide for Johnsen (WB) who slides in Lauritsen to slot home! Fantastic movement within our right hand side overload. Delighted to see the plan coming together.

1f8a6ed95a5cbbb99ace76501d65af52.jpg

To say that felt good was a understatement. Very very tight game but we just shade it with two great goals from our front men. The shift to our second tactical options in the second half worked wonders. Lauritsen moving to target man allowed him to set one up and score one.

(The Second Option)

The Bogey Team Strikes Again!

74d194c8830e80fe936399e24b847994.png

Today Odd seen there remarkable unbeaten run come to an abrupt end!

Ole yet again you fail to beat Bodo/Glimt is there a phycological factor to this?

"I wouldn't say so, we prepare the exact same way. I think if we look closer it was the fine margins"

"we loose a goal from a corner which is really disappointing think its the first one we have conceded from all season"

"Then Sondre Fet scores the goal of the season a mean what a strike just stop the competition"

"We pull one back and in the end get caught late on chasing the game"

 510e34f9da3b623eaea0300baccf8b3a.gif

Sondre Fet take a bow! That up for the puskas award!

fa76ea01fa8d67a30358b003eab9dabc.png

Albert Braut Tjåland wants to follow in his cousins footsteps! What a hatrick, great header for the first, Second lovely movement and finish, The 3rd a sentential lob on the counter from a corner.  but it was the second for me due to the tactical aspect!

fc3cead094b55ba8daede9d61ef91dee.gif

This is our second option coming into work. The DM winning the ball back offloading to the RPM who lifts it into the TM who flicks it onto the poacher! Poetic football. Nothing better when your ideas come to life!

c7605192ba3dcd5af4288acaf3ad82b0.png

Nearly the perfect month.

51a2722a3ef7c78b4d504f72f2c8eb4d.png

Kristiansund are flying as the halfway stage approaches, The Bodo/Glimt loss deals us a blow but we are hanging onto there tails and looking to break away from Molde in 3rd. As always its pleasing to see Rosenborg struggle! The giants have had a awful time of it recently.

190efe821263f6bdfc5ad0ddb111bc33.png

The stats make for good reading.

Outscoring our XG which has us just under a goal a game and we are a lot more aggressive going forward than in the last two seasons but still taking our chances.

Defensively Nesselquist's side keep there mantel as being the best defence in the league, But at this point its actually down to the team defensive effort, rather than just Rossbach saving lots of shots, Now opponents are restricted to little shots.

8b9ad40f396b3475c0ac050ebb8fcb74.png

Am not sure what Ole Martin has to do to get an A. Good to see the tactics have everyone enjoying our play.

Adios Amigo!! the Turmoil is fantastic

Former long term Odd manager lasts 3 seasons in the capital!

76db64605649012f3dd53fc04cbd299c.png

A nice news article to start the month. Odd are by some distance the leading development team for the league!!

80510b1ed63cecee27b9cce9bc43bff0.png

Trip to the Artic to get June up and running. The Cupen game begins a run of 3 home games. The last one being a real table top clash with Kristiansund and then a really tough away trip to Drammen to take on Stromsgodset. Huge month that could prove to be season defining.

dd673a249e6ba7a26929e5659c1deb7b.png

Sigurd Gronli came back to haunt the club he grew up at. Turning in man of the match performance, getting the first goal and setting up another. His goal is my goal of the month.

11eb261af7b87b2580047128d10ba4e4.gif

Fantastic reverse pass from Rønningen Jorgensen to find the sublime movement of Gronli in the SS role, Lovely neat finish from the young man on his return to the Artic.

eb2a69bc2aa4d674aab1afd5eb02bc9b.png

The second string demolish the lower league opponents!

ce0fcd1bc95ed8db2902cc4b6a7a520b.png

Big draw for the quarter final! Good thing being Nesselquist's side are Molde's bogey team! Again its another final defeat to revenge the 2014 this time. Second time on this cup run we have faced someone who beat us in a final.

be81a63e13198fe331c73120ecac8856.png

Odd go top!! Just in time for the Kristiansund tie. After a poor first half switching to the second option and moving Rønningen into the mezzala role paid off. as he get the first and sets up the other two. He really has stepped up this season and started to realise his potential.

960f4c0a507b1a4ad0abe6525e6975b5.png

One of the old guard moved on. He wouldn't sign a new deal as a squad player and with his deal running out it was time for him to leave. He goes back to Denmark he had brief one season spell at Brondby before returning to Odd.

65d94992bcaf2a389ef0a300d7cb4221.png

Our first venture into Europe under Nesselquist will be in Bulgaria, His task it to try and Qualify for Europe's newest tournament and in doing so will be the first manager to take Odd to Europe proper!

239d1795c23ccf126fe3ac5190ad7e43.png

Really dominated our title rivals, Just couldn't get the ball in the net.

4c3d18daedca7570376c0d839e686a2c.jpg

The one time we did score Aas blocked the keeper in a offside position.

6d630d730535667a620baab6e8a18052.gif

Lovely set play but Aas just drifts off.

Norwegian_Football_Cup_logo.jpg.9fa005115a524d5d1c5a51d5bcf36ed2.jpg

b6d1f6d452f98e0da118c6c6a66ac05f.png

The run goes on! Molde must really hate coming up against us. Nesselquist's side flew out the traps and soaked up the dominance and after half time snatched what proved to be the winner.

863187680bcf24c74e3f1281a684c406.jpg

Few of the second string toiled this time around but they will continue in the cup till the very end. Most have also bobbed in and out the first 11. Bjørtuft had to step in as the young under 19 boy had a knock. This time using the second system which is more robust helped frustrate Molde.

cb3a3602103ffec93d29ceadced6b61d.gif

Our first goal comes directly from the kick out. Having players stacked on the left allowed Egell-Johnsen our attacking wing back to get 1v1. Both strikers have to be commended for there build up play. Great direct attacking.

3de73b009bd533393c8ad81957461c84.png

A trip to the capital hopefully not for the last time in the Cupen.

b841ba5f3adf16669999d5d8ec03168c.png

You guessed another one that has beat us in the final! its the revenge cup run! Suppose 9 times runner up will do that. 12 times won but only once since 1930.

league.jpg.e5c17216e5239b530ef6fc7bd2e7b420.jpg

1db0410bb4d32dbce5bc5123f3c8bde8.jpg

Poor 0-0 on the road. But I certainly would have accepted it before the game. We never really created much clear cut but still had chances to win it.

7199395355b76c7e8eba02858418094d.png

Its tough at the top they say! Only one point buffer to Kristiansund, Who had a horror month. Molde and Bodo/Glimt still lurking as well, Ranheim are the surprise story and Rosenborg's appointment of Gaute Helstrup has seen him win his first 4 games!

b4bd922f251bf32eff6a4661901695f8.png

Our shooting improves, Other than that much the same as the month before. Really getting everything we want from the side at the minute. Over half way now. League is priority but with the ECL coming into play it will pull us into some rotation.

Brann up first then the boys will get some much needed rest in before the schedule becomes hectic as European football kicks off.

23b7b0e98a2a780e18b6830a8eb59f7a.png

Some game for big Tobias, Scores a pen then gets himself a straight red card, However his pen proved decisive.

7e56d4f0189c9fe0f88e89bbee7ca35e.png

Timing is brutal! Rønningen "Ronny" has be a key cog in the Odd machine, Having really stepped up his game. Sigurd Gronli now has a chance to grab the RPM role.

409c1bcf784fea4e205d17d291d1be5a.png

Red card for Sofia on 9 minutes opens the game up for us. Gronli grabbed his chance with two hands grabbing a goal and setting up Tjåland for his second goal.

3048913b023e10407ed6131f5e06bd7c.gif

Odd's first goal in Europe under Nesselquist, A typical goal, The though ball finding the poacher breaking in behind. Lovely building out then hitting direct at the right time.

c254b8d7b5edced9de9eccc8d1f0e6a5.png

The huge victory comes at a price. Lauritsen has really excelled in being our offensive pivot, 6 assists with 6 goals. Of course not as many goals as he was getting playing as the TM(a) in our more direct approach, but he really has added another dimension to his game and is now a more complete player for it. it does give Sannes a chance to impress in the role now.

f936f39b68981df2af0790638c914046.png

Our set plays this year are really paying off and again here the first two goals come from them. Hagen gets on the end of a nice deep Gronli freekick, young Haahr finished off a lovely corner routine again from Gronli. Aga responds from being dropped in Europe with a goal. He is really the classic number 9 poacher.

24c29167b0bd7e4e549e21ebb8488166.png

Complacency nearly costs us. However the boys hold on to take us into the next round. First game we have lost at the Skagerak this season.

Trip to Belarus, Soligorsk dispatched IFK Goteborg in the previous round so they do like to turnover the Scandinavians.

A 0-0 in a battle in Baerum rounds off a good month.

Sitting top of the pile with ten to play! Nice cushion between 3rd, Kristiansund had a mixed month so allowed us to open the gap. Valerenga appointment of Kjell Rekdal for his second spell has provided a up turn in fortunes as they look to break into the top 4.

35e326a91773c0a2ed5eb48081aaced6.png

Statistically the trend remains the same. Defence on top which to me is the biggest thing, The greatest teams are well know for being solid at the back, Rossbach is really facing very little. Of course that doesn't mean its just from dark art defending being on the front foot more as you can see in the attacking stats allows us to dominate our opponents. Its the perfect balance at the minute.

August 2022

What a month! Kick off with a journey to eastern Europe, Aalesund my city of work in real life separates the European ties, Then the a massive double header in the league. Valerenga are the form team and Molde will always provide a challenge albeit we love beating them.

c1f080faa28addb8b22004faaf0c0c0b.png

Great win in Belarus. Yet again a set piece pays off. Gronli from wide finding Sandberg. Who is not only mirroring club legend Hagen at the heart of the Defence he is also matching him in the opponents box.

Big offer for Wallem! To be honest attributes wise he really should be incredible for us. But trying to shoe horn him into the shadow striker role has not worked. He is a wide man and we don't use them. Id love to persist at watch him fight Aas for the SS role. The Issue now is finding someone to rival Aas.

e68e8c0411bbb10623d0a188be67eb6b.jpg

A very solid home performance this time. This time full Strength that was fit and available. Egell-Johnsen linking with Gronli is just as good as Rønningen in that overload.

29eff2f948f8fc64fb920c195464a6d9.png

Great draw on a personal level. Another city I have worked in Baku and a team I have always wanted to Manage due to the fact they are established by oil and gas workers. Down to the point where the club logo is a Rig. In game they have disposed off Slovakian side MSK Zilina and eastern European giants Red Star Belgrade.

029982219360121b888effc604f5340e.png

Total destruction! The fortress shows its true powers in a stunning showing. A real statement of intent!

f64f4cc56736db00d86a8d679770d6ec.png

Stalemate in Baku. I would have liked to nick a goal, but fancy ourselves at home against anyone at the minute.

b9fc7202c351f9dcd62839854a832b4d.png

All good things must come to an end. The run against Molde is over 7 games unbeaten is a nice little feat against arguably Norway's second best side in recent times.

4b320b94b17194b700c885428d5261ae.png

Job done like I said I fancy us to beat anyone at home!

dee5e376d6174008110b287b0ffe776a.gif

The 3rd goal is the goal of the month, beautiful team move. Ball Recycled out into the right overload and then Rønningen slips Aga in with the space left.

A little bit of history made in Skien! As Ole Martin Nesselquist take Odd into Europe proper for the first time in there large history. I caught up with Ole Martin today for a short interview.

Ole were you aware of the feat you achieved when the final whistle went?

"I was aware of the clubs record, But we prepared for the game the same as every game. and I think the achievement shows the great progress everyone at the club is working so hard to bring"

3 trips to eastern Europe not a easy place to go and get results! is there any teams you fear in the upcoming draw?

"Yes very tough places to go, our home form did allow us to go to these places and express ourselves. The draw I wouldn't say we fear anyone but some sunny destinations would be nice haha"

How far can Odd go this year? you are chasing a league title, a domestic cup, and now have the group games.

"The group stages was our target but now we are here we have to be optimistic but also realistic so we can look after the draw is made and work out what games will take priority due to us fighting on 3 fronts. the league will always be my main aim"

Transfer business Ole 3 arrivals and an unusual loan move for Albert Braut Tjåland?

f9478379f0510905541dcf5992db093c.png

"Albert has come to me and said he wants to be playing every game and is happy to go on loan to do so, As much as he has impressed in his appearances this season I am happy to allow him to go and play every week as in the long run it will benefit us"

536f69d93030b7fab6a9db1d8afbae10.png

5c03b4a5ad03c664ad1c2468860d1368.png

"That takes us onto Henrik, adding to the frontline which now sees us have 5 high class options, more in the same fold as Tobias, Henrik has the ability to be a real playmaking forward for us and am sure Tobias well help give his game more cutting edge He could easily move into the ten as well to give us options in there"

71fa48b59fffbdfb8b502382dadb294a.png

ac5a61f9feb9c1bb3b1db55212bedf46.png

"Oliver comes in to bolster the middle of the park, Sivert has had his fair share of injury problems this year which has left Bonke holding down the fort defensively on his own. Oli will give us a good alternative he is a exceptionally bright young footballer who is already well developed physically"

9e1636a610527600496d4d305ac22ef2.png

66bf5e4a4a7faf6127d6dface4c8458e.png

"Simen is a goal scoring midfielder who plays right across midfield, I will look to employ him into the number ten role that Aas has really dominated for us, so it will be some welcome competition in the role hopefully he will find the back of the net"

2fed8fad850425dcebf42a7c2a5a050e.png

Really solid month again, in what was a really packed schedule with massive games.

ad2a83e5f9ac9341e01e2476f576be2e.png

8 clear as we arrive at September. Molde are firing on all cylinders, Kristiansund have caved from early season and Bodo/Glimt are starting to kick on! 7 games to go, we are in the driving seat and its in our own hands so we need to really keep the focus.

Just checking out your updates @SixPointer and like your posting style. I particularly like the match play graphics you've included.

It caught my eye that you have Conrad Wallem, a player who played a big part for me in a long term Bolton Wanderers save on FM20, although I see you are selling him  Understandable, though given your tactical set up.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Thanks man. I try to give a bit of a story as well adds to it all. The graphics are a must as am all about tactics really so I like to show people how there working out. Will no doubt do another big tactical thread over on the other section of the forum.

yeah wallem attributes wise is incredible. I think he’s probably one of the best bargains in the game along with Aga. So many people know of him. But just doesn’t suit the tactics. I had started my intentions of a 343 but never worked out how I intended

September 2022

The draw is made! Couple of really big clubs in Fiorentina and Olympiacos. Shkendija the Macedonian side will provide a different challenge to the other pair. Dortmund are probably the biggest club Odd have came up against, So the Italian and Greek giants will be another couple of great spectacles.

Club Legend deciding its time to call it a day at the end of the season!

Month is jam packed! Nesselquist will have to be on the ball with his squad rotation. Rosenborg wedged in between the two huge European ties in itself will prove to be a challenge.

Nordli fires up the fans.

IK Start, feel the wrath of Odds Bk as they are hit for 5. Another two goals from corners, Fast becoming a real weapon for Nesselquist's Men. Gronli has really filled Rønningens shoes superbly.

Henrik Rasmussen introduces himself to Europe with a hatrick on his debut! Another 5-0 as Odd take to the top of the group.

Could have played for hours and hours and still not found the back of the net. Euro hangover allows the chasing pack to close the gap!

Bad month to loose Jesper. Been a rock at the left hand side of our back 3.

The rotated side put in a great performance but were unfortunately unable to get the result. The league remains my priority, especially when it comes to playing Rosenborg and having a chance to win it. So fresh legs required. A think the first choice 11 would have beat them but needs must.

734dd97b367028a80f12908e745aa802.png

Grogaard will miss the majority of the rest of the season. Leaving Tonnesson to carry the LWB slot himself. Maeland can fill in there but is doing Daland's job at the minute.

a096845896dfd7cceacbaa9c2c22f453.png

5 to go as we close in on the clubs first ever title. Rosenborg next for us and Bodo/Glimt up next for Molde.

f207646f37301926cdd0b80c7f03386d.png

What a Comeback! Couple of LEAGUE goal of the month contenders. Aga Running form his half to finish, And Aas chipped the keeper. I couldn't decide so you can watch both.

Aga with a lovely run and finish to give us the lead!

Rasmussen knocks it down and Aas does the rest, making up for his mistake for Rosenborg's first goal in some style!

"Would be the perfect present to win in arguably the clubs biggest European game to date"

It wasn't to be. The Italians just too strong in the end. There 433 narrow formation killed us.

Tonnesson Equaliser was worth the 100 games wait! Goal of the month by some distance and more than likely goal of the season! what a hit what a moment it was!

b29988d793be73a04718a4c24dccd246.png

Mixed month. But two 5-0 wins beating Rosenborg and enjoy our first big ties in Europe proper. Cant complain to much! We are now on the Cusp of winning the league one more win will do the job.

October 2022

The big games keep coming thick and fast! Cupen semi final gets the huge month underway. Bodo/Glimt who we have failed to beat since my time in charge provide us with a chance to win the title at the Skagerak, if not won there am sure it will be won between either Haugesund or Sarpsborg ,but its football anything can happen. Fiorentina arrive at the Skagerak what a huge occasion for the club.

Season Review and Analysis

I find looking at the end of the season totally key if I am to improve at all, it helps me identify areas of weakness and strength in my tactics and players. Last season away results and a lack of goals killed us big time. Add in a lack of good creation in particular from our centre midfield. These are things along with set plays I looked to address at the end of last season lets see how I faired.

fa67cf6a8674a70b860085cdd4b7d805.png

Final league table makes for great reading! Scoring more goals, getting results on the and cutting down the draws which were big issues in previous seasons gives us our first league title.

Most goals scored again was a big issue identified last season great to see us top the pile for that. Least goals conceded by a fair distance as well even though our defence was strong we have made it even tighter as well.

Rosenborg struggles continue the giants are really struggling, Molde, Bodo and Valerenga join us in Europe. Kristiansund had a horrendous second half of the season after being in the driving seat.

Start fall straight back down, Sarpsborg and Tromso join them in the Obos-Ligaen.

b7d7184619c26e1bb56c5279ece8cf47.png

Fredrikstad one of Norway's most decorated clubs are back in the big time after back to back promotions. Can they do the incredible and start chasing down Rosenborg's titles. They currently have 9. Sogndal bounce right back and Sandnes Ulf return for the first time 2014.

04a8ff75fbe96a5ce0df1f2f174fd39d.png

Our home record is breath taking the Skagerak Arena really is a fortress. Unbeaten with only 2 draws, scoring 32 and only one goal conceded!! Well worth the season ticket money!! The fans of course play there part!

f5de0ddf35dd59988e516ca251353fee.png

Our away record far better than before! Matching all the other top 4 teams. It was an area identified last year as being a problem so good to see we top that table. The plan worked and the home record takes us miles a head.

League Season Analysts Review

da4aa4709723aedbcc3e04d21a287df0.png

+19 on our XG is remarkable the boys finishing on another level! -5 On XGA is a good showing again for Rossy mainly. XPTS +14 the boys digging out some major unexpected results!

02e27d075ffec763758954e35b986480.png

Defence is the key to any great side and proved the case. This year it wasn't just down to having the best keeper in the league, it definitely helps but our team as a whole isn't allowing our opponents gets shots in. As someone who loves a clean sheet this is magic. I love the tactical aspect of the game and making a solid defence is a tough ask but have it mastered it.

3e19c0312b7feed5fe9978b43357e423.png

Defence is key, But without any attacking prowess its pointless. Balance is key we now have that balance. We are aggressive enough in attack without it costing us goals defensively solid but not so much that we are toothless. The sweet spot!

e197d35bf560541921c8232d48043c2c.png

Good to see we held onto a key value of winning the ball back and making sure we win our headers. We have topped both these areas since Ole Martin Nesselquist was appointed so its good to see us stick to these principles.

563752ca70a464b09bee51743a4c7802.png

Defending corners is another area of speciality as well as scoring from them at the other end which ill get to later. Ole Martins two setups work wonders half man half zonal with guys on the post for one setup up and guys off them for the other.

Wing backs had a really productive season and this is mostly down to them with the RPM chipping in from set plays and some nice crosses from the edge of the box. Our overloads help create fantastic crossing opportunity's so its great to see the boys doing the damage with them.

d3d82ae04fadacfaf47c38d37dcff0b2.png

be84d599ea22320a6b24c2f469ec6976.png

Passing the ball very nicely, I would say its mainly down to building from the back as we are more direct in the opponents half, especially when turning over and hitting them instantly. Again Its in that perfect balance not keeping the ball for the sake of it but also not letting teams dominate us.

620371b2abaf488a491141c45af737a9.png

This stat only backs up more what I saying, not giving the ball away needlessly but having a purpose with it.

78563cd3a3ec728ae19ea690bb81e948.png

A poor statistic yet again not making enough clear cut chances but then again its probably because the guys are finishing off the half chances, The strikers are doing there job superbly so can't be to critical at the minute. But something I would like to improve.

Just pipped by the passive Aalesund! But we lead the way at the aggressive end of the scope.

e71408e3e47fc684464b7a52bbc3a343.png

5 goals from corners am really delighted with! I done a major overhaul of attacking set plays at the end of last season and they have proved decisive. Not only in the league but the cups as well which ill touch on later.

Tonnesson Our LWB who more often than not was on the attacking side being left one on one had a stellar season! Leading the way as the best player in the league. Someone who I signed all the way back on FM17 for my Aalesund save yet again he has proved to be a star out playing what his attributes suggest he is capable of. Now tipped for a Norway cap which would see him emulate his FM17 performance.

Rønningen Jorgensen someone who I challenged to step up this year gets himself into the top 5, bar a bad injury at key team which kept him out the team due to Gronli keeping him out probably cost him keeping closer to Tonnesson.

Aga keeps up his reputation as the fox in the box! Expert penalty box striker the poacher just seems to finish at ease with one one ones. Great news for him is Albert Braut Tjåland who done well before a even better spell on loan is now going to be fighting him for the starting slot as a poacher! Great problem for Nesselquist to have.

a28b5d20e2780d2f426d36caf431d3b0.png

It was Syver Aas our shadow striker who proved to be the most efficient 9 goals from midfield. Another area that I knew needed work. I needed more from the the 3 CM's last season shifting to a SS really paid off massively and young Aas has made it his own!

The area I'm definitely most pleased with the improvement, I really lacked creativity from the CM and switching to the RPM (with more direct passing) and giving Rønningen the step up and selling Hoff and Kaasa worked a treat he stepped up and repaid the faith, Gronli then came in after the injury and carried on were Rønningen left off so totally chuffed with how this adjustment worked. Tactically was on the money.

82b094f8609ebd5f0fb519c0bcd48ad0.png

Nice to see the CB's highly rated in here, Our simple early build playing its part. The big one is Innocent our hardman in the middle of the park going about his work nicely winning the ball and laying it on to the creative guys. Aga is a major shock being the poacher suppose its a simple role.

The attacking left wing back loves to get track back and get a last ditch tackle in. Either that he joins in the press and wins it back higher up with his great reading of the game. Its very impressive when you consider he is one of our best attacking outlets!

Innocent the destroyer is no surprise for him being there he does the selfless task in the middle. Really breaks up play well, even when teams look to counter our attacking corner, having him lurking on the edge he normally stops it before they can break.

Rønningen Jorgensen pitching in with Innocent, he is more complete and rounded player than Gronli. Hence why the numbers are still good.

Rossbach yet again tops the charts, Norway's number one now! of course all the team has a hand in these great stats.

fecabc1b0a49d09c49c2f34ed2849469.png

But its this one that really proves he is top of the pile! The quietest of all the keepers but still has the highest ratio of saves made, Probably why there is a host of top teams chasing him.

d95c5b3ace2a86058708ba797a9b6b49.png

Aga tops the goal scoring charts again this year with 17, Lauritsen drops off but gets more creative with 6 assists.

Sannes, Tjåland and Rasmussen have stellar debut seasons.

Sannes both scoring and providing really pushing Lauritsen for a starting slot, he can play all the roles I use up front so is versatile.

Rasmussen looks like a world beater and to be honest looks like he will be given the nod ahead of Lauritsen and Sannes because he just epitomises the DLF role and am sure he will add more assists. Again a fantastic problem to have provided we can keep hold of them all and keep them happy.

Tjåland started of great, but wanted a loan move which he excelled in. He will challenge Aga next year.

Aas getting 12 from AMC is a pure delight couple that with his 6 assists and its a superb return from his first season in the Shadow striker role.

d999a364f5cbb5d1e1d5490b55983412.png

Tonnesson with 14 assists and 5 goals from LWB! when you think off how good his defensive stats are in the league, you can see why he is being touted for a Norway cap. Flourished in that LWB where he is often left 1v1.

Rønningen Jorgensen 12 assists like a said earlier is a massive plus point this year, had it not been for a bad injury I think he would have easily got 20. Gronli filled in for him when he was out and notched 11 so the RPM role really did fire in a special way compared to our DLP/AP last season.

Reitan with 11 assists from RWB (our overloaded more often than not) is a magic number in his first season at the club, He was rotated a lot more with Egell-Johnsen who go 6 as well so a very productive RWB slot.

Small Tactical Analysis

a25f0ca371002a627b34ce1a303a8ff2.png

Nearly everything is finished off in the centre of the box, A little bit more so towards the left off it than the right which is expected with the 1v1 wingback or poacher. Certainly score more in the first half, maybe due to the fact if we are winning the second half I try to dominate the ball a lot more and suffocate the opposition. Strikers tend to place it rather than power, good number of headers as well, mostly from set plays.

c6dd6970924b0b8598618c855542c002.png

As you would expect more assists from the right hand side than the left with the overload, But left still holds it own for the cross assists, The golden zone that the playmaker does his work with all the lovely through balls matches up with the right side, if that box was to be split again it would favour the right more as well. 7 goals from corners and 5 from freekicks is a remarkable return from set plays as well. Crosses and through balls just pure penetration.

68a7f0c08d2bb18a19afb9bb602f9e28.png

1 header conceded in 50 games is impressive stuff from the back 3.

c82d34771e57337137fdcda94e02ecc8.png

5 goals from set plays I can live with but i would like to lessen that being the perfectionist that I am. 3 goals from crosses again just cements how well we defend our box.

Tonnessen had the goal of the season locked down the minute that one hit the back of the net like I said at the time. two 5-0 victories take the limelight but for me beating Fiorentina at home was match to remember huge result!

Simply put I totally agree with everything that has been voted on. Good number of records broken again this year!

Medals are handed out. You needed 10 apps for one. Jacob Haahr and Legend Espen Rudd miss out had I know this Rudd would definitely got some cameo appearances to get the medal in for him before he retires.

Summary

Well a superb record breaking season at the club. Address all of the issues from last season and it paid off. I really enjoyed this season mostly because the tactical plan worked out perfectly and the real improvement came in the areas I had to address.

Hopefully we can hold onto the core of the team and retain the title, Champions league qualification will take priority as that's where we need to aim for. of course we still have the ECL to carry on which starts again around pre season and with our home form I think we can beat anyone only issue is being among pre season.

Thanks for reading as always I try add some context to make it story like with videos to help your immersion see you next season. SixPointer

Well done on the Eliteserien success with Odd! It's been a while since I caught up with this as I try to just read a couple as it's too much to follow everybody. Always a good story and well written, keep up the good work and hopefully defend that title.

Thanks very much man!

The Off Season 2023

6dc3a59edee89cc7a677370cee518cf2.png

The board now requests some club culture, which come from Nesselquist's tactical philosophy! Nice to see that he is starting to have a long term effect on the club!

1dde8fb865af3fd2c80fcdefdf327459.png

The construction should be complete just in the time for the league kicking off.

Nesselquist rewarded with a new deal! A few of his players would follow suit!

7e3a4c48bab086eaf210fd2af9ecc593.png

Rønningen Jorgensen lead the way with a new five year deal, Aas, Hetle, Aga, Mannsverk, Sandberg, Deland and Reitan all signed new fiver year deals.

34b2142c0c3f0db0728db1bba8109d46.png

Kitolano First cap brings in some extra cash, but leads me onto another scary stat about the players we develop at the club.

de9848561df4b75834300bd29ac2cd38.png

The club is in there with some incredible company! Matching Real Madrid for players. Of course there is context we are not filling La Liga or the EPL but still nice to be recognised along with some of the worlds best academy's.

transfer-logo.png.bae373b68485cb7234dd7334f434c9bc.png

There was a vast amount of interest in our players from all over the globe, Everything from giants of the game to the oil rich Saudi clubs or the filthy rich Chinese. here are some of the rumours, Offers and done deals.

First move for Odin came from AIK in Stockholm. 2 million simply wasn't enough to persuade me to sell. Odin has been a solid consistent performer but has become unhappy at the size of the club which does baffle me considering we just won the title. 5 million is more what am after.

38407290dbd83e0240502226e76fd1a5.png

Money from china now on the table and with a shrewd bit of negotiations it looks like a deal will be done.

1ced3de5d552a7ca3f8b3de19ba67e57.png

Not the 5 million but close enough and with a decent sell on so happy. Especially with his value rocketing to 7 million! Of course he needs replaced now.

3714dd28284daa33e6a0d8d53e622882.png

A player I looked at when buying Daland and Sandberg. Bodo previously out bid me, but he failed to make the grade there but am willing to take a chance. Much like Sandberg and Daland give him his break and full first team games. Sandberg had a big injury I gave him a chance after, Daland was relegated before arriving and both have excelled. Lets hope Heggheim can have the same effect.

b29b5192cf96c9df05687a5e8e4cf46a.png

By no means the finished article needs to work on his fitness and his work rate. But on the whole its pretty much like for like but 3 years younger and a small amount of work needing done and a nice profit. Now with 3 under 21 internationalist as our back 3 if they can knit together hopefully they can be the pillars of the side for the next 5 years.

Again keeping to the philosophy, every time an academy player leaves for good money the club looks to invest in the infrastructure that produced the player.

e94178f903701a9397deb3d6e278fd05.png

What move it would be for the Norwegian number one! He really has kicked on since Nesselquist arrived and being linked to the biggest club in the world is testament to that.

7eb918b72dc0aa593586beba7e63f241.png

However it was only the Saudi club Al-Nassar that bid at it was a far cry from the 6/7 million required! Rossbach stays for now! If Barcelona arrived I would accept a lower offer provided we had a good sell on clause. Because I would love to see him go there.

36095c750a772a9197572b28fb18cea0.png

Another Saudi side try to tempt our star academy product but fell way short of the 10 million asking price. If Rønningen has another wonder season he will no doubt be attracting top European clubs.

d8c4654a2ef1fd3de5bcb909e334537c.png

Brann Looked to break up our new look back 3 already. But Sandberg is going nowhere. He is a real rock and now takes Hagen's role as the main man back there destroying everything. As a said before a player ive always loved on the FM series!

b3234830eaca5626c02ef11a9251f051.png

What a fight back! Never deserved to be behind but the (young) boys dug in and got us through to the next round. Extra time required after dominating the visitors. That man Rasmussen does it again though! He just loves European football!

036283386dddc16b77e70342adfcfbca.gif

Again the short throw results in a goal, Lovely cross from Mannsverk to pick out Rasmussen! Mannsverk can hopefully stay fit this year and give us more of these moments!

Another journey to eastern Europe! Very tough draw and a big ask in the Russian capital!

Big Blow as Aga the assassin looks set to miss the second half of pre season and the start of the season. A real chance for Albert Braut Tjåland to nail down a first team slot.

Season start up next!

Is there a post where you described the tactics in detail - I want to develop something similar for my next save having only played 433 or 4231 so far.

Thanks Man. Em the start of last season there is a few screenshots. Am planing on doing a full tactical post like the Atalanta one I done for fm20. But it won’t be out till mid March when am home from Norway on my rotation from work.

Yet again the league seasons starts away from home. But 3 of the first 4 league fixtures are kind ones. Two home games to newly promoted teams. Valerenga will be a tough test early on.

01047dff5c84129ecc91a3cd83f5c94d.png

Off to a winning start! Both strikers grabbing important goals. Really hoping for big things from the pair of them! Rasmussen and Tjåland both showed glimpses of what they can do last season but now they are set to lead the way, and keep Lauritsen, Aga and Sannes out the side.

cb83c132c824bcf71605952d56404ddf.png

Sheer domination in the capital but really lacked any real cutting edge. Passing the ball is all very well but goals win games luckily we found one late on.

a2f1d95d1399701fe4332d78437a32ab.png

The second string will be given the Cupen again! They take care of business. The thing is at this point both 11's aren't settled. Aga and Sannes stake a claim after a poor showing in Oslo from Rasmussen and Tjåland. Tonnessen returns to fitness with a man of the match as per!

f48e726a696ce0f9863b019011267632.png

Favourable draw in the Cupen!

571681ccef70f5eaf904ebfd836f2994.png

Alarm bells starting to ring now! Lacking a real cutting edge. Teams are really not offering up the space in behind like they did previously.

06ed8092bc4724625ffc4fd74c96e4a5.png

Aga really just knows how to find the back of the net! A real true poacher! Nordli showing he can now challenge Aas for the shadow striker role! Nice to see us break down a parked bus!

15aefd1cf3015156a6431751f78c88f6.png

Solid start nonetheless! Need to start finding the back of the net again.

May 2023

May starts with a win in the Cupen. Penalty done the job but again the cutting edge really is lacking!

cd2741c15e01d6ccea4bed1279cd3fa1.png

Tjåland keeps picking up silly little injuries and its really hampering him kicking on and taking Aga out the side. Lauritsen hasn't been fit all season at this stage! In and out again with silly knocks as well.

0927d30982280f94a907fe8d29d4f16f.png

Home tie! But the quality of opponent increases.

220061d053d7219223c069ff6da10ca4.png

Finally a really clinical performance puts us top! Away from home which tells its own story. An area of struggle before but now it seems teams park the bus at the Skagerak these days.

1227213339272d6c43fb66ca761efd35.png

A deadly showing from the backups! The goals look like they may just be starting to flow for us now! Really need the momentum to carry on into the league!

9520838166c7f45af17dffb41b7c550b.png

Away tie but one that I expect to get through trouble free!

45162314ed1a1b19942e5ce24b6363cd.png

Yet again a real toothless display! I'm scratching my head now tactically. Ive tried a couple of small tweaks but its starting to feel like an overhaul is coming! will ride it out for now keep tinkering.

0f39b20fc624eff80438a6affcc9fcdb.png

Groundhog Day!!

21e71d896c1c67cf9d93c5ee22bb4f38.png

Great result! Truly battling performance down to ten men and take the lead! Of course Aalesund gave us space in behind them which really helps with our style. Maybe better going down to ten men more often!

f3aa88e9ed98d6f52dde27ceaffb6f18.png

10 unbeaten and its mad to think am thinking of a tactical overhaul! I'm still not happy with what am seeing on the pitch. Our killer instinct isn't there like last season. teams do sit in more which means we may need to look at playing higher up the park. Time well tell at the minute small tweaks are working and both set ups still give us a good base of what we want.

174dda5026b171504fd1a6068e6a8dc7.png

No surprises here! Solid at the back but really lacking that aggression in attack which we discovered lasts season!

d3cb9ea08948fc828507ce5263f7cab7.png

Molde set the pace at match our unbeaten start! Kristiansund have found there rhythm, Rosenborg look like they could really challenge this year as well!

June 2023

f6621ec52b31c433875b0be74c66f66e.png

The month to rule all months! Unbeaten thriller at Molde, Cupen separates the televised trip to Trondheim to take on the mighty Rosenborg and it doesn't let up after that Kristiansund are in town at the Skagerak and its rounded off with bogey team Bodo/Glimt at our patch. A real make or break month!

46997b9b12c60fac7a7d8da6d035aca3.png

What a rollercoaster! In the end we couldn't hold on! hard enough with 11 players never mind 9. The unbeaten record goes!

e2e58b7c8ef4cd285fd24fc1dd36154a.png

Id stat I would really like to lead. I feel its not far away. Rønningen, Aas and Tonnessen are really knocking on the door now!

45a8d7e6997286f682782c12758a391e.png

Yet again Tjåland is out! this time from an Odd 2 game when trying to build his fitness.

d52404f0e4fddbe9ec9798aa5bd18207.png

Enough is enough! Our own player who is out on loan sends us out the Cupen! But more frustratingly both from set plays an area that is normally so solid for us. Tragic to go out at this stage. A real disappointment.

214fe6f6ddda36e7cc26f704b09a07d8.png

Sucker punch!!!! Fought our way back in front and chucked all the hard work in bin with the last kick of the game! Big blow in the title hopes!

9ca98fdb474ae807b8f1d73814c4f8a3.png

Our first ever champions league journey begins with Icelandic champions.

2d187c58a0feb95815a7e3e234feed7b.png

Its time ive now conceded defeat and it time to look at the tactics again. So blunted going forward its scary! Even our trusty set plays have lost effect!

88ca56cde2805171ea8ecaeb3cfcf6d9.png

Switching to a 4231 just to see out the month gets us a huge 3 points! Now ill go back and look at the 352/343 systems and come up with the long term plans now! Bare with me on updates as it may take some time get the tactics sorted. Much like the off season before our double winning season ill analyse everything and start building and hopefully we can turn the corner. It wont be drastic but defo needs looking at!

9d5ad7d9d4bc7367117b6242d97f5fff.png

Think the stats back up my thinking that things need to be addressed. For the first time in a long time we are not the best defensive side in the league and its not as if its cause we are blowing teams away in attack. so adjustments need to be made!

912dd2684f7a8a447412bc5726ad6a28.png

6 points of the pace now! Rosenborg are flying and look likely to top the pile shortly! Which is even more reason to turn it around! Cant have the giants taking a title!

Hopefully some analysis and tactical changes wont take too long. Thanks for reading hopefully wont be long till am back. Feel like Liverpool in real life right now so its time to sort it!

Managerial challenges after winning the league aren't nice :herman: but probably realistic.

I guess teams are either respecting you more (looks like it is harder to break them down) or have worked you out. I am sure you will find the right subtle tweaks to get back on track. Great updates as usual and cool to have a comment left by Jon Tveit Rønning

Very realistic! That’s why the game is great! I’ve not looked at it yet. Think overhaul may have been in frustration the principles never change nor will the back 3. But there definitely will be a change and variation in strategy. Mainly in attack.

ano!! Very cool to have a player get involved!

I have to agree with @Jogo Bonito.

The AI is changing it tactics more often and has probably changed it estimation of your team.

I think you still have a chance....a couple of tweaks...don't try a Major Overhaul during the season.

very much so! It definitely a case off most teams sitting back and allowing us to have the ball. Possession numbers through the roof being denied that space that we crave in behind. Maybe a case of a few ideas

tempo increase with a Higher loe and catch them out in transition closer to there goal.

or the opposite slow it down and camp on them. I’ve got a few ideas. Planning to delve into tonight after work so should be good to go for finishing the season over the weekend.

New Tactical Tweaks & Systems

c25ac77fddd18a91ff80027783494fc9.png

First up is our league winning system. Teams seem to have sussed it out and sit back and give us the ball in less threatening areas. Therefore I made some Small tweaks. I didn't want to rip the system apart as it has been lethal up till now.

  • Tempo is now maxed out, in order to move our opponent around a lot quicker and disturb there stubborn shape.
  • Counter has also be added, as I look to attack as soon as turnovers happen trying to catch the opponent before they park the bus.
  • Line of engagement has been lowered in order to draw out the parked bus and leave the space in behind for the LWB,SS and poacher to attack.

cabec45744cb6ea9fe54081bd7424704.png

This system is more like the original 343 shape that Nesselquist first used at odd. Only this time with a flat front 3.

  • Left hand side overload with the BPD told to stay wider, IWB RPM and DLF all make up the overload and the RWB, PF and Poach look to exploit.
  • The IWB lends a hand in the middle of the park if turnover happens before he retreats to WB. Just giving a little bit more security.
  • With a higher line of engagement increased to standard and prevent short Gk added to try force our opponent into long balls into our back.

8f67ae9b373be7b5a5eca05e28d7ebf5.png

A Tuchel inspired system. Even more like what Nesselquist tried to deploy when he first arrived at Odd.

  • Dual central playmakers taking the ball from the back and building centrally to overload with the PF and F9 who draw the Full backs out of position.
  • Poacher used to pin the centre backs down and be a threat in the box
  • Flying wingbacks to exploit the space left in behind the flanks. Stopper duties used on outside CBs to cover the space left and press wingers.
  • High Press with build up focused centrally. Early crosses may be added if wing backs refuse to cross.

I just wanted to give some tactical insight into Nesselquist's latest innovation. It worked a treat last season when shifting to the first system hopefully these extra systems can give us more power against parked buses. Three up top should cause havoc with the movement and pull the bus apart. Two in midfield can be over run but with dominating teams I'm happy to go with it.

Thanks for reading next month update to follow closely.

Two really big away ties to start the month! Must win if a league challenge is to happen! Every game is a cup final now! our first foray into champions league football is lodged into the month as well. On the whole its a month of huge stature if its to be a successful season.

bff36853da64c5aa21b2f1e97f1d58cd.png

Winning start with the new system! The media billed it as a drab match!

a5fcc55e85e8adbe6c6c53bd2c942cae.png

I beg to differ! I really open game! Both sides making clear cut chances. 6!! for us is brilliant with it being our biggest problem this season. A real solid display in the first game back, just need the strikers to take the chances.

Still leading the way! our intakes haven't really produced that one star that can make the first team yet. Some look decent but none yet to make the breakthrough there is however a centre back with real promise.

He could be the first to step up. Perhaps when Hagen retires. Physically and mentally already very strong at 17, Technically needs work. But showing signs of a good player. Hagen will of course be helping nurture him. A big bonus is he is capable with his left foot. Distinct lack of it in Scandinavia.

9eed6d43c5e235a4b8a88806a60f33b3.png

Rasmussen double and Daland heading home from a freekick seals the 3 points at the newcomers patch! Another 7 clear cut chances, teams parking the bus are being cut wide open now, with our front 3's movement.

You really do have to admire then 10 away fans! haha!

Goals Goals Goals Goals! can't get ahead of ourselves not great opposition, but can only beat what is in front of you. All the front 3 get on the score sheet and the usual complimentary goal from set play is there this time from corner. What is mad is even the set plays were proving ineffective before the tactical switch.

The money spinning champions league is here!

3d8caada962d526f7e3b43dc5de70772.png

The back of the net is bulging! poor to concede two as I still value my clean sheet record. But at the minute the best form of defence is attack. The clear cut chances are now becoming goals and when averaging 5 chances a game it can only be positive!

25fa3118597dd3742ff169309a1f41ea.png

The back ups get us over the line! But it proved to be a very wasteful performance! Is it the beginning of slump!

7fe45eba04b336654f40ca7d9f4158a0.png

Croatian powerhouse up next! Playing at home first is vital, as our record at the Skagerak is phenomenal.

8d7878280233ffbfd51a2d5f0181ca58.png

It was a blip in the champions league! A breath taking Sannes performance as he delivers a first half hatrick! Aga gets the goal of the game with a neat volley!

In all honesty it was mainly a strict man marking system that allowed us to stop Viking in there tracks early. With wing backs told to tight mark wide men, The wide forwards told to man mark full backs allowed scuppered there plans. Sorenson completely man marked there danger man Auklend out of the game!

So on the face of it, it looks like a huge attacking ploy but it was really the high press with players being given disciplined off the ball jobs that worked and forces Viking long.

2e30672b9878514c961ee0bef9bd2e75.png

The perfect result! The fortress passes yet another test! 3 really well worked goals as well and more importantly at good times. First 5 minutes allowed us to build and one not long after half time killed Zagreb. Third goal came just as they looked to claw there way back in.

19c6d8e85f6721a89b151714cdb7e7b7.gif

Reitan smashes home the 3rd after nice work from young Olsen down the left. Lethal strike certainly the goal of the month!

Money, money, money must be funny in champions league world!

7539bc80cc55becd6879cee972428ba8.png

The attacking stats have improved remarkably! Only Molde really top us! Defensively it really could be better and shows a sign of the times! Normally leading the way. But am sure those days will return all in good time! 16 goals is a great return! 6 more than expected!

ff9d16afac04cf023eb03543082c1204.png

Almost a perfect month! if only the back ups could have taken there chances, couldn't hit a barn door that day. All in all great return to from with a blend of the 3 systems working a treat. I can live with conceding 5 goals when scoring 21 at the other end and winning all but one game.

02b4f0c3387f2ba3879d4979f1d3eac9.png

Still six points off the pace, which is incredible after recent results. Molde really are on fire and remain unbeaten they will take some stopping this year. Outscoring everyone and remaining very tight at the back, when you have that combination it usually secures titles!

Investment in some really high potential targets in areas lacking in the under 19's or actually in the first team squad

2d6b4aa1a15c937fc9b191ebbaa8161b.jpg

A really aggressive defensive midfielder and under 500k is bargain. A key component of all 3 of Nesselquist's systems meant its key to have a future star coming through in that area. Wasn't first choice but only because the other player is really special. Kristian will soon be ready to challenge Innocent, Sorenson and Mannsverk, Mannsverk in particular really hasn't hit the heights expected of him. He shows glimpse then gets injured or suspended so Kristian will be chasing him.

55f6847e2149248df2cb31f45a8831b7.jpg

Poached from Molde a real talented lad! probably the signing of the window so far. A real balance of technical and mental attributes and some strong physicals at 18 he looks a top top prospect. He will be trained to become a roaming playmaker due to the nature of his lovely spread of attributes. Can't believe he only cost 600k with potential performance bonus of 1million on top of that.

486ee2c3bfe1dfd1b494b6acc3088cf0.jpg

With Hagen in serious decline physically, it made sense to bring this young powerhouse in. At just 17 he is so complete physically, He does need work mentally, this is where Hagen the model citizen will pass his wisdom on, show the kid the ropes. He does have a good personality but lacks some work rate and determination which Hagen's mentoring will help. Technically he has surpassed Hagen and he could well go on to being one of the best! Vindfjell now has a friend for the right hand side of the youthful back 3.

16d6b7d00f71aac56e527ca94d894a24.jpg

Shot in the dark this one. Has some really great basic attributes but at 18 he is more of a cover option. Dennis Gygyer our academy product has been on loan for two years and probably shades it at the minute. So will be an interesting battle to see who can break into the first team squad.

0dcaafec3bde7ebb3d9502c384afe0c8.jpg

Another great looking Dane! to join our growing ranks of potential Danish stars. This one will be trained to become a shadow striker, but in the deal I agreed to loan him for some first team development so he should come back even stronger. Mentally he is very strong for the role he is going to play, physically could do with getting his acceleration upped and technically he needs to work on shooting but again 18 years old with bags of potential and snapped up on a free transfer!

Thanks for Reading See You Next Month

@SixPointerThe new tactics are bit aggressive for my taste, but they certainly seem to have solved your goal-scoring problem :D. I shall ponder my own position on the risk-reward scale!

To be honest they are probably to aggressive for my usual taste. But if you can’t beat them join them type idea. I much rather a solid base. But to be honest with my back 3 I do have that!

Very good win in CL.Dinamo Zagreb is a very difficult opponent in summer quilifiers.:applause:

Timing of the goals was massive. Getting an early one really set the tone. At home I think we could beat anyone on our day!

The new tactical ideas have seen a massive change, and very well explained. Great to see that.

Thanks man! I really love the tactical side off the game. Probably why it takes me so long to get though the seasons. Watching everything on comprehensive looking to get an edge on the AI!

Systems are really aggressive but with so many Parked buses I needed to fight fire with fire.

August 2023

Losing start to the month, but the great result in the first leg carries us through. Tjåland scores and doesn't get injured, its a miracle people!

a8f20564dca3be67936c1c3fe44881e1.png

Swiss champions up next! Good draw at this stage but, away tie up first may prove tricky! I great side spectacle is the draw sees two members of the Club of Pioneers. Oldest club in Norway vs oldest club in Switzerland.

bbb7f34a772108f68d9fefbf4a080c85.png

Sannes 10th goal of the season secures a 1-0 win away at Sandnes Ulf, Making it 6 league wins on the spin! Goals flying in and only two clean sheets, times have changed at Odd!

7560be07d30ba49fc66c81453b990591.png

Almost perfection. High press delivered the first goal and set the tone for the rest of the game. Tjåland looks to be finding some solid form! Sannes is also cemented his place as a starter. Rasmussen's volley is a potential goal of the month takes it really well! only down side was a late goal for the home side. In the driving seat now, So much so I may go with the back ups for the home leg.

88dbd915592d5d576cff609b70df3254.png

Clinical finishing and a clean sheet, Its like the good old days! 7 wins on the spin in the league equals the club record previously set last season! Sannes makes it 7 goals in 5 starts a real rich vein of form! Tonnessen yet again in sensational form this year!

50cfad3652ec79a1b915ae1e21ff83b1.png

Would bet your house on him breaking that with so much of the season left.

Job done in front of a record crowd. The back ups take care of business. Great game for the neutral but, Odd win the battle of the club of pioneers and sail into the next round! Aas playing in the DLF role smashed home a volley identical to Rasmussen in the first leg another potential goal of the month. Aga gets his first goal in 4 games. Egell-Johnsen smashes one home that is a mirror image of last months goal of the month.

3c399c1e273560d72efa0ea412e65223.png

As a Scotsman this is a mega draw for myself. Tough tie Celtic have won 12 league titles on the bounce and will be more than a challenge but, We have beaten big sides before!

3e35b0537ecb159c5be97f11e508eb63.gif

Rested the first 11 for the big Celtic game coming and it cost us 2 points. Tonnesson to the rescue, with the goal of the month and record breaking man of the match performance!

1aee7f6727aea0437555c911e86cfa0f.png

The champions league dream is over! Sivert Mannsverk has to take a large portion of the blame, a ridiculous two footed tackle and after that its a uphill battle. It sums up his performances since signing, has real promise. But for every good game there is 3 bad ones. Second half battled well but a late goal really pushes us to the limit.

c019e32c3f0676cba8484d55322c9a0b.png

I used the first team in the thinking that the Celtic tie is dead and buried! 4-0 against sogndal is a different animal to Celtic but does spark some hope. Sannes is in a real purple patch and passes Aga as the top scorer this season no mean feat. Gronli score yet another great volley, That is 4 great volleys this month.

88ef3436f555d4c306d98f82fd613702.png

The dream is dead! for this year anyway. I great effort one tie short of qualifying. Celtic came and played on the break as expected and stuck to there task. Damage was done in the away league. But Odd will be back!

92d3023eea7330e37a3b0d8ceef0beda.png

will need to settle for this! softens the blow and gives us some more experience in European football.

6180f8bb13d941fde76460e7c412d29c.png

The most efficient attacking side in the league now, along with being one of the best defensive sides. Its all starting to click for Nesselquist!

e540bfad5280765397db01601490c9f5.png

The gap now closed to two points! Poor draw at Haugensund costs us top spot! The title race looks like a three horse race and Odd are the form team but there is a long way to go! I sense a great finale!

22fdf1071a75ffa99b585dac2e0aa21f.png

Nesselquist is recognised for a stellar month!

Special Update

retina_thumb_Varden_logo.jpg.e682d4fe6f392f2ebd0c4a1aca4caecb.jpg

Today we have a special interview with Ole Martin Nesselquist from Odd. We will talk tactics, transfers and future!

c08115e52a32961cdfb840fd833437cc.png

Ole Martin your being billed as being a bit of a tactical genius how do you feel about that?

"I think genius is flattering"

Do you agree that switching to a high press system has be a masterstroke?

" to be honest our core principles are the same to say its Gegenpressing is extreme. We do engage our opponent a lot higher up but, we still like to play the same way"

Moving too three strikers has seen the team become a real attacking threat do you feel the praise for that is just?

"Again I have to credit the players being versatile and applying my ideas perfectly in my years here we have adjust to the current climate tactically and each time my players have responded perfectly. At Odd we all play our part and everyone should be credited for it"

It was suggested that we may see you switch to a back 4 in future is that possible?

"never say never but I prefer the base of a three man defence I find it lets us be more aggressive higher up the pitch while not leaving ourselves exposed"

d18e7fbb18ba10c0a49e8a4e5053edca.png

Simen Nordli the record signing for Odd has been moved on after only making 20 appearances can you tell us the thinking behind that Ole?

"Vitesse expressed a interest in Simen and it was clear he would like to make the step up, We have seen on occasion how good a player Simen is but its fair to say he really hasn't played enough. Its a good deal for the club as we make a profit and with the arrival of some younger players in the same area it made sense"

d08d1d5f9312c7908b99b4bdd8f9bf09.png

Another big departure as Sivert leaves for Lillestrøm who are chasing for promotion with a small profit for the club. Ole Martin you were a huge admirer of the player where has it went wrong?

"I am still a huge admirer of Sivert he is a great pro for his age and I believe he will still go on to do great things in Norway there is no hard feelings between us whatsoever only respect but, He didn't settle here with us"

"He came from sogndal were he was a very young captain and played week in week out as their star player. Here he didn't really do the same, injuries and suspensions haven't helped and he has grown frustrated with a lack of game time"

93161583fa2c60c1d81cf9638866f2c4.png

Ole you have completed a huge signing in young Nino Moi who is being touted as one of the next big things to come out of our lands. How happy are you to get the deal over the line after being frustrated in the closed season?

"I am delighted to get Nino on board. I really believe he is the brightest talent in our country along with Syver & Rønningen who he will join up with in our midfield three"

What kind of player is Nino? and how will he fit into the side?

afd26e3d8d73a6a546f56dfd30f5906d.png

"He is a real workhorse, Never stops running and working hard for the team, A player in a similar mould as Bonke. Great in the tactical but its mainly his ability to read the game that makes him a class above others his in the league. At 17 he is already head and shoulders above so many players in the league. Like all young players he has to work hard to improve and has areas that he know he needs to work on but he is more than ready to challenge Bonke"

83e3e267fa8ccd6bc9e88f00e106ed30.png

Solid Business from Ole Martin.  Thanks for your time today Ole
