It was supposed to be a nice touch but wasnt thought through if the penalty was critical and the guy on a hat trick had rubbich penalty attributes. Granted usually if I have a guy on a hat trick and a penalty I've got the game won but I don't like that it ignores your normal penalty takers just to give the guy a chance to get his hat trick. Nocuous Posted October 13, 2012 Share Posted October 13, 2012 I think I've only had it cost me a game one time before (and I think it's been in the game since FM 08), but nevertheless it's a silly feature. If a player gets a brace and you want him to take a penalty should you get one, then you should have to do it manually. Either that or perhaps a prompt for when you get the penalty. Fair enough, players can ignore our instructions on the pitch (as they currently do with this feature), but we should at least have the ability to have a word with them afterwards to make sure it doesn't happen again. I had it cost me games,the 1 that springs to mind and still annoys me is when we came from 2 goals down to make it 2-2 and a penalty with 10 minutes to go,my CB who scored both goals with headers from corners and a penalty rating of I think 7 stepped up and promptly put it wide.Things got made worse when the opposing team got a penalty in injury time and scored...I was pretty livid. It's a nice thing the potencial hat-trick guy got the chance to score the penalty... but when you are 2-2... you want your best penalty taker... not your central defender who score two goals from corner kicks! Like drogba lampard a few seasons ago irl when chelsea had a pen and were well ahead, drogba was chasing golden boot but lampard insisted he took it? A pop up override would be good. Pop-up come up, you said is player A to take the penaltie, but player B dont follow your order and took it anyway! This happens sometimes irl. Last season Bojinov overwrite the order from Sa Pinto and took the penaltie in a Sporting game. He missed, and Sporting draw the game. Winto Posted October 13, 2012 Share Posted October 13, 2012 I think sometimes, even in a crucial situation, it can be realistic that a player will step up despite not being the penalty taker if they are on a hattrick. Often we see players argue over who takes what, and I am sure the manager has no control over plenty of decisions like this during a game. Perhaps there could be a way to speak or even punish a player after the event. I certainly think the personality of the players and the captain especially should affect what happens, and at no point should a centre back (unless a specialist) be allowed to take one, hattrick or no hattrick. But this might be far too complicated to implement so perhaps it should just be removed. I have always wanted the ability to change the penalty taker at the last minute, maybe that option would be better. Say when you get a penalty, you can have a menu pop up and chose your player, perhaps a striker in a dry patch or if your penalty taker is having a torrid game. "Leandro scored an hattrick before the penalty" The guy had already scored a hat-trick before the penalty. Hehe, When you put it like that it is quite strange. If I was to say "I am on a date" well I am indeed on a date. If I said "I am on top of the hill" I am indeed on top of the hill. I'm not english so i won't debate the language with you english fellas ofc, but i guess it should be onto an hat-trick? or simply when they only have 2 goals lol, i mean if they are On whatever they ARE already there. Anyway i didn't meant to look like a smart ass with the screenshots before just from what i got from the OP the player had already 3 goals lol. With that said, although i never noticed, the managers should indeed have the option to choose which player takes the penalty, or at least it should stick to whom the manager chose to do the penalty kicks. I do agree, I wouldn't like it defaulting to a player, a hatrick is only a description of 3 goals. I try never to put individuals above the team and frequently sub players who have two goals if I have or need to. Its never caused me any problems... yet.
