Bracken
No Hazard in the starting 11 with Mata out with a fever. Great selection. Apparently Benitez cares more about the cup than Top
el sid
Cech; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Terry ©, Bertrand; Mikel,Lampard; Moses, Oscar, Marin; Torres No Mata or Hazard. I've a bad feeling about this
Robokid87
Surely this game is more important than Monday?
JackJCFC
Appears he's given a lot of the players who played internationals a rest which does make sense i suppose given our fixture run coming up.
Bracken
Would rather they had a rest against United than in this game, we need top four a lot more than we need a cup run.
football_master_94
Our results without Mata are dismal but we should have enough about in that lineup to see us through. That being said, massive game for Oscar and Moses to come up with a big performance in the absence of Mata and Hazard.
matt1389
Bit nervous with that line up, although interested to see how Marin and Moses do. Mikel and Lampard in the middle makes it a bit more reassuring.
jaybob
Yeah, happy with defense and midfield two but think we will really struggle to score today with no Ba, Hazard or Mata.
SRL88
Yeah, happy with defense and midfield two but think we will really struggle to score today with no Ba, Hazard or Mata. Lampard will score a thunderbolt.

shanyi
Is Benitez resting players for the FA Cup? Clearly more concerned about getting silverware (won't happen anyway) to fuel his delusions of competence than the best outcome for the club. Urgh. Helarxe
Southampton being made to look like Real Madrid. It's a human rights violation to make a young player play alongside Torres. He may learn from him, ruining his career.
deez0r
We look completely uninterested. The way other results are going we will be under massive pressure.
jaybob
Uninterested is exactly the word. The only players that even seem to be trying at all are Moses, Azpi and Marin. Everyone else wandering around aimlessly allowing them too much space. Such a pathetically toothless performance, devoid of any inspiration so far. Bracken
Hazard just such a great player. Always impressed with the number of times he could go down for a pen but stays on his feet, I know it sometimes might cost us, but it I like the honesty and determination to get a goal instead

Bracken
I'm glad we left Ba on the bench the whole game but let Moses have 90 minutes, and that we brought the fantastic talent that is Benayoun on instead of Ba. It shows some real great management.

jaybob
Ba 3 goals in 2 games against Southampton so far this season. football_master_94
Worst performance in a while. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves as the amount of **** performances on display today was unacceptable.
ReggaeBwoy
Benitez, what kind of dumb **** are you? We are losing 2-1, yes LOSING the ****ing game and you decide to bring on Benayoun when you have Ba waiting????????????????????????? How in God's name does that make sense. You leave Ba on the bench, who already scored 2 on his Chelsea debut against Southampton. What kind of psycho is this manager? This is his way of getting revenge on the fans. So pissed off! At least we have Sunderland at home next week, sure we will win that anyway. Next season we just need managerial solidarity! Order no.1 please
shanyi
Half expected this to be honest, in that hyper-pessimistic (but mostly realistic) mood that I suspect grips most people whose team is under Benitez' management. Nevertheless, I'm sort of vindictively pleased to read that Jack Cork had a fine game.
football_master_94
Today was another fine example of why Juan is the POTY. He, unfortunately, won't win it though.

smgers
So anyone else getting slightly nervous about this top four spot? I have to say, as poor as we've been under Rafa, I have just taken it as a given seeing as we haven't been out the top four this season. Looking at the next eight league fixtures though has got me sweating. Four away games we could potentially drop points in and even the home games aren't straight forward. There's no doubt that with the next two games being at home then six points is an absolute must. If we do take this top four spot then it may well be down to those around us slipping up rather than us doing it the easy way!
ReggaeBwoy
Game against Tottenham is so crucial. BTW, for those who don't know, we do have a game in hand on Spurs. May be crucial.
Bracken
I've been nervous about it for ages, we're just so inconsistent and have to deal with crap team selections and baffling substitutions, as well as a bad atmosphere all around the club. I could easily see us slipping out of the top 4 if we carry on this way.

I can't imagine we're going to make the CL, we've got games against Everton, Liverpool, Man Utd (away) and Tottenham, there's no way we're not going to drop serious points especially with our fixture congestion. If we'd won today and had a game in hand over Spuds, a five point lead over a slightly resurgent Arsenal and seven over Everton, I'd be quietly hopeful. As it is, there's no plausible scenario to me in which we stay in the top four. Wouldn't even be a surprise if Everton overtook us at this rate.
