noikeee
Has not been the greatest of seasons by not capitalizing on the club's financial strength. Do you intend to stay for another year there and try to turn the money into a promotion perhaps, or are you thinking already of the J club?
PaulHartman71
There's currently no J's available (pardon the pun) so as long as I am not sacked I will continue at Irtysh more determined than ever to get promotion!
PaulHartman71
I is for Irtysh I didn't spend anywhere near the budget that I got given, spending £1.8M but I made £425K in transfer sales so in total spent less than £1.4M. Overall the side is quite reasonable and probably should have finished higher than the 7th place finish we actually achieved. I will still spend more money next summer just to bring in more quality and depth, this was somewhat lacking despite the amount of players I brought in. Our new GK was Oleg Nikiforov who is a lot better than our first choice GK from last season. Vladimir Bugakov played on the left hand side of the defence and he had a pretty good season. Maxim Ugarov was on the right and he also had a pretty good season ending up with 6 assists. Sergey Djioev was a key part of the central defence he's a pretty good player and had a decent season. Stanislov Venkov continued as the best central defender at the club, he had a great season. Anatoly Tarasenko ended up as the primary DM at the club, he did pretty decently in the majority of games he played. Dmitry Federov played in the middle of defence and had a decent season. Alexey Sheyakov had an alright season in the middle of midfield, he had a pretty nice pass ratio. One of my best signings was the Nigerian striker Prince Cole, who in 32 starts scored 15 goals and got 4 assists. Mykhaylo Shpak was our top scorer again with 17 goals. Ultimately there's no 'J' jobs available so as long as they keep me in I'll try and make sure we get promoted this up-coming season. PaulHartman71
Don't really have much of a choice tbf, none of the 'J' clubs have sacked their manager yet so I haven't had a chance to even apply. PaulHartman71
I is for Irtysh I spent another 2.5M this year to make sure of promotion, a few of the players were poached from clubs rivalling me for the title which no doubt helped us to finish 2nd. I did make 600K back though so wasn't all spend spend spend. Nikiforov was in goal again, had a pretty decent season with 16 clean sheets. Ugarov had another season at right back, Bugakov played the majority of games at left back, Venkov was the main man in the centre again and once signed Tcherkasov was his partner. Maslov was the main man on the right side of midfield, Akimov did decent on the left, with Kainov and Demchenko in the middle. Prince Cole had another good season with 19 goals, whilst Shpak ended up with 21 as well as 8 assists. Overall a decent season, I'll probably end up having at least a season in the Russian Premier Division as still no sign of a 'J' job. PaulHartman71
A pretty decent start to life in the Premier Division, especially considering we've gone from big fish in a small pond to relative tadpole. We are the 12th richest club in the league despite the tycoon on side.
cerud
It'll probably take a few years to grow. How are the new gate receipts in this league for you? Close to selling out?
PaulHartman71
In the current 9k stadium we're selling out most matches but the gate receipts are pretty terrible, lucky to make more than 30/40K a game from them. The sponsorship deals we have are also virtually non-existent compared to everyone else in the league. There's no real sustainable income at all and if we do stay up and I have to stay as still no J's, we'll only be able to keep at this level without going into debt if he keeps randomly giving £7M every 12 months or so. PaulHartman71
Dropped down another position to 8th, but I'm still pretty happy with how we've never really had to worry about going down this season which was the target the board set. nie jem frytek
That's 16 posts without mention about J-Job? Too much. There are any options this moment? Anyway, really good first season in top league.
PaulHartman71
Nah none of the lesser clubs have sacked their managers yet and Juve are doing really well plus Giovinco is in their fav personnel so seems unlikely they'll sack him any time soon. Just finished the season and we ended up 9th, we're still in the Russian Cup, in the 1/4's, the other games happen at the start of next season, we have Ural so a semi final is realistic. Lower Leagues Rule
Nice finish, 9th of 16 is excellent for a newly promoted side in a tough league. Now to spend your offseason pushing on, hopefully someone in the J clubs stuffs up and you can move on, otherwise another season here is not going to hurt, and you can build towards a continental spot...also CSKA Moscow got Relegated :O
rancer890
9th is a very good finishing position for a newly promoted team. Now hopefully the increase in rep will help you get better players. And like Des said, CSKA got relegated....
