PaulHartman71
I'm in the 2038 season, the table currently looks like this... As we finished 5th last season I'm pretty sure we qualify for Europe again if the Russian Cup winner finishes above of us... The final is due to be played tomorrow, basically if Rubin win then we get Europe, if Dinamo win we don't. At least that's my understanding of it.
PaulHartman71
It seems Dinamo have qualified for Europe despite not winning the Cup. What ********! Damn these stupid foreign rules!
PaulHartman71
3 games later and we're half-way through the league season. We're on a roll as have won 3 out of 3 and sit 3rd. I'm not sure where we'll end up, it is top 2 for a CL place, hopefully we can at least improve on the 5th place finish from last season. We've also made it to the 7th round of the Russian Cup where we face Lokomotiv Moscow.
PaulHartman71
A thumping victory sees us progress to the quarter finals of the Russian Cup, which isn't played until next April...
PaulHartman71
With 10 games to go we're just 5 points off top spot, the league is of course very open so we could finish anywhere from 1st to 6th or 7th really.
PaulHartman71
After dropping points in a 0-0 draw to Dinamo Moscow in our last match, we're still 5 points off the top 2 rather than 3 points which is pretty disappointing. Our final five games are: Krylia Sovetov (away), Spartak Moscow (home), Zenit (away), Luch (home) and away to bottom side Shinnik. Our next game with Krylia is a must win to keep any hope of a top 2 finish/title win, the game away to Zenit will also be a massive one. Also just got linked with a job offer for a 2nd division French team (which sadly isn't a J) after Francis Coquelin was sacked, he's 47! Making me feel very old! PaulHartman71
A hard fought draw with Kryljia Sovetov sees us stay within 5 points with 4 games remaining, this now makes our games with Spartak Moscow and Zenit even more massive.
PaulHartman71
A narrow 1-0 win over Spartak Moscow sees us gain points on Krylja who dropped points. Still 5 points ahead of Rubin, Rubin still have to play Krylja so I'm hoping that game will either be a draw or will see Krylja win. My next game is a must win away trip at Zenit. PaulHartman71
I is for Irtysh A pretty disappointing end to our league campaign saw us fail to reach the top two, only reaching 4th. We were 5 points off the title which is somewhat promising as it shows we are almost there now... A lot of transfers made, tbh since IRL this was like 2 or 3 months ago I can't really remember why people were sold or bought. The key players of the season were primarily - attacking right midfielder/striker Willian, central defender Juan Carlos Aguirre, our new goalkeeper Andrey Kontsedalov, left back Dudu Cearense, central defender Igor Vasyliv, attacking midfielder/striker Miroslav Vlcek, striker Nikolay Kadykov and the fans player of the year, who else, but Mykhaylo Shpak. Due to our league position we qualified for Europe... The core of the squad isn't particularly amazing with no real stand-out player, I will be looking to strengthen in the winter off-season to have a new competitive squad next season unless a J club presents itself to me. 4th place was still a record high finish for the club and a new record was set for average attendance, as for the first time we averaged over 10K fans a game. PaulHartman71
@nie jem - I was devastated not to get the Juve job after waiting soooooo long for it to become available, just so a Sheffield United reject could get it ffs An awful start to the season sees us with just 6 points from our first 5 games, we were also knocked out in the quarter final of the Russian Cup as we finished the game with 9 men due to a red card and an injury in extra time... PaulHartman71
A disappointing start to the season, after being rejected by Juve early on I realized a step down was necessary to finally get a 'J' job. PaulHartman71
Jura-Sud were my personal preference but this job came up sooner, they were only insecure, I registered interest and they immediately sacked their manager to get me in I'm off to Spain to take-over at.... They have a somewhat interesting real life story (which like many of the clubs I've managed in this series, involves going bankrupt ) In the 2008–09 season, Jerez promoted to Segunda División B - the new third level created in 1977 - but, the following year, the team found itself struggling in the league fighting relegation, with the club suffering from financial problems and the players owed wages. Subsequently, a loan of around£160,000 was paid by the Glenn Hoddle Academy (founded by former Tottenham Hotspur and England star Glenn Hoddle) so that the club could pay off debts and continue trading. Eight players from the academy joined on loan in the second half of the season, but it wasn't enough to help Jerez avoid relegation back into the fourth level. Subsequently, a five-year deal was signed in the 2010 summer saving the club from bankruptcy, and Hoddle assumed control of all football operations. The side kept a Spanish coach and assistant, with Nigel Spackman, Graham Rix and Dave Beasant taking turns on the *touchline and rotating on the bench for two matches at a time. The Glenn Hoddle Academy terminated its agreement with Jerez Industrial in March 2011, and its players returned to United Kingdom, leaving the club with only their youth team to play their fixtures. The academy later agreed for twelve of its players to continue playing for the club until the end of the Tercera División season. Following the end of this deal the club continued to struggle financially, and were relegated two divisions to the Regional Preferente de Andalucía. (shamelessly c + p'd from wikipedia) They just finished mid-table in the Spanish 2nd Division B4, onwards and upwards for next season!

noikeee
Brilliant to see this back. That was a great couple of final years at Irtysh, it felt like a couple more steps and you'd make it all the way to a Russian title! Therefore it's a little strange to see you resign and drop back to a considerably lower level but that's the way of the challenge. I felt like we'd gone as far as we could go, it was disappointing to not win the title in my last full season, but after a bad start I didn't see us finishing any better than 4th really, felt like the right time to leave especially after the Juve rejection. If you felt tied to FM12, due to this save, could you (theoretically) start FM13 with Jaen? This is on FM10. I don't really feel tied to it as FM10 is probably my favorite FM, I have an FMO gave on FM13 atm but aside from that I'm not really playing FM13 atm anyway. I'm loving this challenge. PaulHartman71
Ah English/Jamaican, makes more sense now! Has a decent record for the international team, lets hope he can bang some goals in for Jerez next season. Unfortunately he wont bang any goals in under my leadership, hopefully he still bangs them in regardless though! fantastic thread. thanks man appreciate that
noikeee
Good season at Jerez, I am surprised you're leaving, getting rushed now to continue the alphabet? First time so far you've only spent 1 year at a club. My theory is that a really good K job just opened up maybe? Jerez is a familiar name to me because of the F1 track, the closest race finish ever was actually there, 1986 Senna vs Mansell. At a point my choices of FM clubs were based on teams with motorsport links so I managed Modena in Italy due to Ferrari being based there (that career was great fun!) and briefly Monaco. Maybe one day I'll do a full journeyman career only based on clubs like that.

I didn't really see much point in staying, there was an extremely limited budget and their expectations probably would have risen to promotion and I'm not sure it was possible really given the limited resources available, seemed like a good time to leave looking good. I have been linked with some 'K' jobs, hopefully I will get one soon. An F1 inspired career save sounds like a pretty original/interesting idea, would be cool to see someone do that

BazzRose
I'm hoping Kansas City. Just for the fact that when you move to an "L" team you can use the line "I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."
leonavich
I am going to say Kilmarnock as they seem to be in a top league but not really a top team. The Russian adventure would of brought your reputation to a point that premier divisions would be looking out for you now, albeit more than likely in the lower half. Good luck with the K's though! I did look at Kansas City as a team I wanted to manage when I first looked at K jobs, unfortunately it wasn't one of the first that came available to me so I'm not off to the MLS just yet! I would've liked Kilmarnock as I want to go back to Scotland at some point, I was actually offered the Kilmarnock job 2 weeks after becoming manager of the team I've taken over. I'm going to a country I've never managed in before. Think Scotland. But much more to the South and the East. And warmer. A lot warmer!

PaulHartman71
I love this thread.I was just wondering, as you approach the middle of the alphabet, if/when you'll get a stab at a really big club? Man Utd? River Plate? Yeovil? I'm not sure when that opportunity will come up, I've been linked with quite a few big jobs but obviously haven't been able to take them due to letter issues. Hopefully sooner rather than later! - The guys who said Turkey were right
noikeee
I watched this thread this morning and was going to suggest Karsiyaka or Kayserispor, looks I was right, and good move.
