Its good to finally see this on FM, but promoted to the prem with just 50 points seems a little low to me!! daf was talking about FC United, not Wycombe

dafuge
Portsmouth - Barclays Premier League - 2059/60 With a league and Champions League double last season my squad had finally made it big. Could we add to that? League Table League Positions Graph Not as many points as last season, but a bigger winning margin. It was also great to see FC United's lack of ambition let them down. Community Shield - it was pretty even, but we managed the win. UEFA Super Cup - another even game, and another win. FIFA Club World Cup - a dominant display as we took another friendly cup. Carling Cup - I rotated the squad but they kept winning, all the way to the final. FA Cup - another great cup run followed by a dominant final. UEFA Champions League - I rotated the squad in the group stage and still managed to take six wins. The wins continued until an almost meaningless semi final against Arsenal. The final wasn't so easy, it took a last goal to get us into extra time where we showed our class to win. Squad - I like the balance of this squad, and it is only going to get better. Transfers - not a huge amount of action as a few squad players were shipped out in favour of a new defender. Key Player Profiles Horacio Canteros - a bad injury held him back, but he still did well. Gianluca Taddei - he seems to get better with age! Paul Reid - the homegrown wonderkid was given a leading role in the team and took it, winning an England cap in the process. Eduardo Castellano - with Canteros injured, he got a chance to shine. Dagoberto - looks like that £90m was a waste! dafuge
Portsmouth - Barclays Premier League - 2060/61 Last season we won the lot, so there wasn't really a lot to aim for this season. League Table League Positions Graph We completely dominated, but fell just short of 100 points by losing our final game! Community Shield - we threw away our lead but managed to hang on to win on penalties. UEFA Super Cup - an easy win. FIFA Club World Cup - it could have been a lot more in this feisty encounter. Carling Cup - it was a simple enough run, but the final was a bit tight. FA Cup - not a goal conceded along the way as we dominated the final. UEFA Champions League - the group stage was easy, especially this match! We were unstoppable in the knockout stages and made easy work of the final. Squad - strength in all areas, and still pretty young. This squad could dominate for years. Transfers - just a few kids brought in to cover a few positions. Key Player Profiles Paul Reid - he's getting better and better. Horacio Canteros - still banging them in, even as a support striker. Gianluca Taddei - his legs may be going, but how could I possibly drop him? Eduardo Castellano - not bad for a third choice! Courtney Barlow - he's become a makeshift winger, but a pretty good one! Ideally I'd like to see Paul Reid's career out, but I may need a side project. Perhaps if I get some decent youth players I could start to bring them into the team? In other news, it looks like my tycoon chairman may be thinking about leaving. That isn't really a bad thing as the club is pretty much self sufficient now but I may renew a few expensive contracts now while I've got the money available. dafuge
Argentina - Confederations Cup 2061 I wasn't really that aware that I was going to be managing in this competition, but by winning the World Cup in 2058 we qualified. The group draw looked fairly generous, with Brazil and Germany the big threats in the other group. Cameroon vs Argentina (group stage) Despite a few missing players we won easily. Argentina vs Mexico (group stage) They hit us with early goals as we struggled to get back into the game. Shocking result. Argentina vs Australia (group stage) We rested a few players and still came away with a big win. Final Group Table Not really what I was expecting, but it could mean a final against Brazil if we can beat Germany. Argentina vs Germany (semi final) We were almost back to full strength and it really showed. Argentina vs Brazil (final) We dominated the match and raced to an early lead, but we nearly let it slip away. Next season brings the World Cup, which we have already qualified for. dafuge
Portsmouth - Barclays Premier League - 2061/62 After two clean sweeps we looked to do it again. League Table League Positions Graph We finally broke the 100 point barrier. Community Shield - we won a close match. UEFA Super Cup - this one was a bit more convincing. FIFA Club World Cup - we made hard work of this, needing a lot of luck in the penalties. Carling Cup - another good run, the final wasn't a great game but at least we won. FA Cup - another decent run with a convincing final win. UEFA Champions League - the group stage was simple enough but we made a shaky start to the knockout stages. Following a 3-1 home win, we hit the self destruct button in the second leg and threw it away. Squad - a lot of players are reaching their peak now, so I'm starting to think about replacing a few of them with youngsters. Transfers - an expensive signing, but good wingers seem to be difficult to find. Key Player Profiles Paul Reid - the local lad has become a star. Horacio Canteros - an injury disrupted his season but he still did well. I may consider cashing in soon. Gianluca Taddei - his contract expires next year but I'm really hoping he'll retire. Courtney Barlow - the signing of the winger meant he finally got to move to AMC to fill the gap left by ageing Taddei. Kensuke Yamada - the big money signing had a decent debut season. dafuge
Argentina - World Cup 2062 The qualifying group was easy work as we had a perfect record. The draw for the group stage wasn't exactly kind on us though. Ivory Coast vs Argentina (group stage) We started slowly but turned on the style as the game progressed. Elsewhere, Mexico beat Holland 3-1. Argentina vs Holland (group stage) This was a good solid win. Mexico vs Argentina (group stage) Once again, Mexico got the better of us. Final Group Table Luckily the defeat didn't matter as we topped the group. Tunisia vs Argentina (second round) It was a convincing win, but that red card could come back to haunt us. Uruguay vs Argentina (quarter final) This was an easy victory. Argentina vs Spain (semi final) It was a thrilling match as the extra bit of quality seemed to give us the win. Argentina vs Italy (final) It was a tight match that didn't look as if it was going our way, but a late goal sealed it for us. It was well and truly job done with Argentina, so I resigned from the job. I doubt I'll take another international job but I can't rule it out completely. dafuge
WOW what striker. He is immense, and was scoring for fun for me with Argentina. I must have been in the lower leagues with FC United when he started to make it as I completely missed him, I think he was 29 when I first found him. The thing that jumps out to me about that is that they survived with just 26 points last season - mental.

dafuge
Portsmouth - Barclays Premier League - 2062/63 Last season we missed out on the Champions League, we had to win that back. League Table League Positions Graph We took a few more chances with squad rotation but still won it easily. Community Shield - not exactly convincing, but a win. Carling Cup - no problems at all as we cruised to an easy final. FA Cup - bit of a surprise here as we got dumped out early. UEFA Champions League - the group stage was easy, but the knockout rounds were even easier. The final was frustrating, but we came away with the win. Squad - pretty happy in all positions, all I'm looking to do now is shift older players on for big profits. Transfers - I've been active looking for the next generation, with more players likely to leave. Key Player Profiles Paul Reid - his stats are a little misleading as he had numerous four goal matches, but he's still a star. Horacio Canteros - he's been a legend, but I'm thinking about moving him on to give the younger lads a go. Diego Falanga - the rock in midfield. Ricardo Figueroa - he was used sparingly but he's ready for the first team. Martín Castro - with Barlow injured he finally got his chance, and took it.
