FMX-FACTOR LIVESHOW SEASON 1

September 1st 2008: Update

DONCASTER ROVERS

An excellent start for Doncaster Rovers as they sit in 2nd place in the Championship after four games with a trip to Leyton Orient awaiting them in the League Cup 3rd Round as well.

CCC/01 Sheffield United H 2-1 Canvey, Wellens
LCp/R1 Hartlepool United H 1-0 Elliott
CCC/02 Swansea City H 3-1 Canvey, Lannock, Elliott

LCp/R2 Burnley A 1-0 Williams
CCC/04 Bristol City A 0-2 -

No injury worries or interest for any of the new Rovers players after their excellent start to the league campaign.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

Forest sit in 11th place in the Championship at the end of August and have been knocked out of the League Cup in the 2nd Round.

CCC/01 Ipswich Town A 0-1 -
LCp/R1 Rotherham United A 2-1 Cooper, Cohen
CCC/02 Derby County A 0-1 -

CCC/04 Blackpool H 3-0 Earnshaw, Morgan, Anderson

Ardas Nails has missed the first six games after a twisted ankle was picked up in Forest’s final pre-season friendly at Oxford. He is due back in full training in 1 day so should make his first appearance soon.

SOUTHAMPTON

The Saints sit in the Play Off positions in 5th place at the end of August and are out of the League Cup in the 2nd Round.

CCC/01 Barnsley H 1-0 Tomkins
LCp/R1 Peterborough United H 1-1 Schneiderlin (9-8 on penalties)

LCp/R2 West Bromwich AlbionA 1-3 Lallana
CCC/04 Birmingham City A 2-2 Wright-Phillips 2

Injury worries for three of the Saints FMX players however with Robert Jones, Bryan Danielson and Joe Tomkins missing as August closes. Jones was injured against QPR and is out for 7-11 days with a twisted knee, Danielson is out for 3-4 weeks with a sprained ankle picked up in training ahead of the QPR game and Tomkins is out with a hip injury, picked up against Wolves, for up to 2 months as he sees a specialist.

SWANSEA CITY

Swansea are also sitting in a Play Off position in 6th place as August closes with a particular strike partnership firing them to good results. However, they went out of the League Cup in the 2nd Round.

CCC/01 Norwich City A 1-1 Bigabelli
LCp/R1 AFC Bournemouth A 6-0 Vestergaard 5, Bigabelli
CCC/02 Doncaster Rovers A 1-3 Vestergaard
CCC/03 Coventry City H 3-2 Vestergaard 2, Bigabelli
LCp/R2 Blackburn Rovers A 0-2 -
CCC/04 Cardiff City H 4-0 Bigabelli 2, Tate, Vestergaard

No injury worries for any of the Swansea FMX players and no transfer interest although it might only be a matter of time!

Perhaps using a different colour might help. :)

It might but it would make it more difficult for me as well. So I’m going to leave it. I’m only doing that for the first update anyway and you should start to recognise the forty players involved anyway when they are mentioned. I won’t make much reference to the other Championship players except in the first update as I have there.

Looks like a top start for N'Diaye. Wonder if he'll find himself on some Premiership shortlists by January?

FMX-FACTOR LIVESHOW SEASON 1

October 1st 2008: Update

With another four league games played in September and the League Cup 3rd Round, the eight teams were looking to build on or improve on their starts in August.

Barnsley slipped to 11th in September with just one league win, a 2-1 defeat of Blackpool at Oakwell. They struggled for goals with the 2 against Blackpool the only goals they scored in the league. In the League Cup 3rd Round, they had Premiership Middlesbrough worried with an early goal but an extra time strike from Afonso Alves ended their hopes. Despite playing no games so far, Argentinian youth Ronaldingo is now attracting interest from Manchester City and Atletico Madrid but probably needs to make some appearances before moving.

Blackpool are still without the injured Liam Ferguson but have managed to claw their way out of the relegation zone to 21st thanks to a draw at Wolves and a home win over QPR with Fuzzy Lightning amongst the goals with 3 in 3 games. However, their League Cup dreams were ended with a heavy 4-1 defeat at Derby in the 3rd Round. Ferguson’s hip injury is set to keep him out of action for another 3-5 weeks.

Burnley fall to 14th place in the Championship after heavy defeats to Crystal Palace (3-0 away) and Swansea City (3-1 home) but a local derby victory over Preston North End at Deepdale thanks to a Jack Browne penalty helped them move up. Philip Almeida is still attracting interest from bigger clubs despite a knee ligament injury picked up with the Portugal Under 21’s that will keep him out for 6-8 weeks. Manchester City are also showing an interest in young Canadian midfielder, Mark Millward.

Coventry City had an excellent month with 3 wins over Doncaster, Bristol City and Cardiff that propelled them up to 3rd in the table. Haowan Madridstas continues to be amongst the goals for the Sky Blues as they make their move. However, a dislocated shoulder will keep Moussa N’Diaye out for 2 months which he picked up in training.

Doncaster Rovers dropped down to 12th after their excellent start, three more defeats after the defeat to Bristol City last month. Sirus Lannock and Mitchell Williams continue to score goals for Rovers with two apiece this month but they couldn’t keep them in the League Cup after a disappointing 3rd Round penalty shoot out defeat against League 1 Leyton Orient. The month ended with a 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic before Olympic Lyonnais made a £1.7m offer for Geevus Canvey that is currently being considered. Will Canvey be the first player to move in FMX2?

Nottingham Forest suffered injury woes in September as they fell to 15th by the end of the month. They won 3-1 at Sheffield Wednesday but were disappointing in losing at home to Bristol City and away at Plymouth. Darren Gilmartin (stubbed toe, 2-4 days) and Hermann Schneider (calf strain, 3 weeks) were both forced off against Plymouth.

Southampton powered their way to the top of the Championship with four straight wins over Palace, Swansea, Preston and Sheffield United as they went four points clear. Robert Jones’ return from injury saw him score in each of these victories. Brian Danielson has almost recovered from his injury although a dead leg is now keeping him out (for 1 day) and Joe Tomkins is still out for 2-3 weeks with his hip injury.

Swansea City had a mixed month with two defeats and two victories after the goals of Magnus Vestergaard and Havo Bigabelli dried up (only one goal for Bigabelli in September) and they drop slightly to 8th. Setven Jaa picked up a calf strain in the victory over Burnley and will miss the next 8-13 days.

Remember the aim of Season 1 is to make an impact and help your team overachieve as much as possible against their media prediction. The team with the
biggest impact will be rewarded but the team that has the least impact (possibly even negative) will be in some danger.

Burnley Warnock 18th 14th +4
Coventry City Keegan 21st 3rd +18

Swansea City Robson 20th 8th +12

I will not be publishing a list of appearances any more until the February 1st update but there are now only two players without an appearance: Zac Smith and Ronaldingo. There are still 10 players who have not made the minimum 5 appearances needed.

Great work by Southampton so far, top of the table is a quality achievement even if it is still early. Shame I can't really take any credit for it though with Danielson being injured, hopefully when he's fit again he'll slot into the first eleven.

FMX-FACTOR LIVESHOW SEASON 1

November 1st 2008: Update

With all eight teams out of the League Cup, October would be a month where they would all focus on their league form and try to reel in Southampton who had got off to a blistering start under Sir Alex Ferguson. With five more games to play, who would make the big impact this month?

Barnsley moved up to third in the table with four wins from five games that saw Kyris and Nicolev Cadu getting on the scoresheets. The highlight was a 1-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux but a 2-0 defeat at Forest kept them out of the automatic promotion zone. Kyris was forced off at Molineux with a bruised shin that keeps him out for 3-6 days. Ronaldingo remains on Manchester City and Atletico Madrid’s wishlists but the 14 year old still hasn’t made an appearance.

Blackpool slip back into the relegation places but they started and ended the month with impressive wins over Birmingham City (1-0) and Sheffield United (2-0) at Bloomfield Road that keep them in touch with the other teams above them. Liam Ferguson returned from injury to score against the Blades but Gregory Peck (damaged neck, 5-8 days) and Fuzzy Lightning (twisted ankle, 4-5 weeks) leave the Tangerines with more injury worries.

Burnley continue to miss Philip Almeida with his knee ligament injury and interest in Mark Millward is increasing with Wolfsburg, Atalanta and Sampdoria all joining the chase for the Canadian. The Clarets started the month with three defeats but Cristobal Blanco, Jack Browne and Millward inspired them to victory over Cardiff at the end of the month to raise them back to 15th.

Coventry City won three games to remain in the Play Off places but lost important games against league leaders Southampton and promotion rivals Reading as they ended the month in 5th. Moussa N’Diaye remains sidelined but nothing else changed for City with no FMX player scoring goals in the month. Zac Smith managed his first two appearances of the season for the Sky Blues to end worries of not playing all season.

Doncaster Rovers held league leaders Southampton to a draw, held Reading and beat Ipswich in an impressive month that saw them rise to 9th. A battling defeat to Derby was the low point but Mitchell Williams and Tom Hamilton impressed with goals this month. Sirus Lannock is out for a few days with a strained neck and Geevus Canvey’s transfer to Lyon is now confirmed – the first player to get noticed by one of the big guns.

Nottingham Forest sit 14th at the end of the month where they were impressive at home (beating Barnsley and Wolves) but woeful away (losing at QPR and Birmingham). Darren Gilmartin hit his first Forest goal and Mark Cooper scored another for the Tricky Trees but they will be hoping to move upwards next month.

Southampton remain top by five clear points after an unbeaten month that saw them beat the three Cities – Coventry, Norwich and Cardiff. Robert Jones is scoring goals a plenty but they have some major injury concerns with three of their FMX stars out injured for over a month: Joe Tomkins for two months with a hip injury, Matt Ferguson is out for 5-7 weeks also with a hip injury and Brian Danielson broke his leg against Doncaster and is out for 5-6 months. How long can the Saints hang on to their lead at the top without three of their stars?

Swansea City have problems with Adam Holmes interesting Chelsea but they continue to hold their own sitting just outside the Play Offs in 7th place. Magnus Vestergaard scored his tenth of the season and Bob McBob scored three in four games as the Swans managed victories over Ipswich and Watford in the month. Setven Jaa returned for the Welsh side after his recent injury.

Remember the aim of Season 1 is to make an impact and help your team overachieve as much as possible against their media prediction. The team with the
biggest impact will be rewarded but the team that has the least impact (possibly even negative) will be in some danger.

Good start up to November by Barnsley & Mourinho. The good distribution of FMX stars clearly helped the team to have a balance in the squad. Kyris performing well on the wing. 3 goals and an assist up to October and some more goals in October as well. Let's bring down the Saints while they are 3 stars short. KUTGW Andy & KUTGW José!
