Saving Football: Frauding A Nation

Malmö

Well, it seems my former mentor has brought me a bit of luck. I caught up with Hakan in the glorious city of Malmö where he's currently attempting to save football by winning the Champions League with Malmö. Fanciful stuff. He's always been a bit strange but that's just ludicrous. I caught up with him over the past weekend and we talked all things football, Rabona Interruptus and ABBA.

It was in a café with himself and his assistant manager Ludwig that I got the call. FC Aubagne wanted me to manage their club! I was back in the game! Shots of grapefruit flavoured liquor all round. They mentioned something over the phone about poor finances or something like that. “Dire straits” was the phrase they used I think. I was only half listening. Beggars can't be choosers anyway.

@BoxToBox - nice squad starting to form - though still miles off what should be winning Ligue 1, shows what an achievement that is! Good to see Laporte tied down.

@Bartrcm - congrats on the promotion and best of luck in the 3rd tier!

@Schiavone - very solid first season - good work.

@wynter - unlucky with the relegation, hope you can bounce straight back. That o.g.......:seagull:

@Fer Fuchs Ake - welcome back to the fraud side!

A few of them, like Flano, have even developed quite a bit since the end of last season.

SC Bastia 2024/25 Mid-Season Update

We go into the second half of the season in 6th position, which i'm pretty happy. We had an indifferent start with losses against Lille, Guingamp and a draw with Le Havre, but we've also had some great results e.g. 5-1 Lyon and some big wins in Europe as well as an away win in Bilbao. We finished just behind Bilbao in the group who finished 5-0-1 and we face Basel in the next round. As expected we've missed the presence of Fogacci, who had the pace and finishing ability to terrorize defences. Julien Romain has had to step back up as our first choice striker, but he's not of the same quality. This will also be Wahbi Khazri's last season with us as he's started to really decline physically. Hopefully we can push on in the 2nd half and do well in the cups, Europe and/or push up the league.

AS Furiani-Agliani 2024/25 Mid-Season Update

We had a dream start to the season, winning 8 in the first 10 and climbing to top of the table, but we were brought back down to earth with a 5 match losing streak. Since then results have been hit and miss. On our day we can destroy teams, on an off day teams will carve us apart. It's exciting for all the right and wrong reasons! Some of our recent youth intake prospects have recently turned 16 and have added quality and depth to our first team. Star of the show? Kenzo Pollet, no question.

If a centipede loses a leg, it does not prevent him from walking

We're hanging in there!

Not far behind a possible 7th place, and we've been showing positive patterns at times.

Our team is, however, still far far far below other teams, but that just makes our grinding out wins so much more impressing.

5700dd36d81b7c930205591f535f54f9.png

The date also reveals, that we've reached the single most important and exciting/depressing time in this save. Youth intake day.

This time we struck some gold!

We hired a new HoyD a couple of weeks prior to the intake to hopefully affect some personalities. That didn't really make a difference, though.

f05790fe6555b9ca5b0ed3c1eaafb74f.jpg

I hired this bald fraud due to his 'Fairly Prof' personality, but then this happens.

ae72506a24bf8d0c722adb7828c2360c.png

I look at Corentin and Abdullah, who he's taking some credit for. Fair enouhg, Simsek is one of the regens with the highest PA in the bunch, but Corentin is  a... 'Slack'... ffs Bertrand, a real fraud doen't take credit for the **** he does, he takes credit of the brilliant work of others and hides his flaws...

37f6129c809a827d0e24f0151b04c582.png

But apart from that this intake looks light years ahead of last seasons. This is of course also impacted by our relegation, so PA, especially, is taken with a bit of a "Eh, we'll see about that" reaction.

Angel Brasseur does no matter what though, look like a star in the making. He has it all for a striker!

8edc79d73c4deaf71c52201998c5443a.png

The rest are looking a bit blend, but we'll see. Don't need much to upgrade from our current bunch. Just don't know if Brasseur will even be here when he turns 16 and can play matches. He'll get snapped up in no time. :(

Halfway through another run round France, and we're after carrying on where we left off last season, and are right up in a surprisingly competitive title battle...

Chucked out of the CL, but drop to the Europa, a result I'm pretty happy with, as we exclusively played youth and backups in Europe.

Flano is the European Golden Boy! Well deserved, as he's been key especially this season.

Same day...

Non-negotiable, full of clauses, and you expect us to continue paying his wages?

Super disappointing. Lad was rated like 10th in PA from his intake(dodn't look like much either, or I'd have made note of him). Just started growing like wildfire, and right now looks a great prospect. Started three CL games and a league one already.

End of Season 2021 Review

Our most successful season yet! We led the league for a good part of the season, before we dropped a few results. Considering we were expected to be solid bottom half this is very positive in my opinion. Decent run in the cup too. As we enter our 5th season in the lowest division I am not that concerned, as once we get strong enough squad I feel our ascension will be further accelerated.

Youth Intake Day!

Time to see how Vinny done with the yutes...

62OB.gif

Well, he done alright, I suppose, if you like amazing intakes that solve almost all of your problems! It's a golden generation, of course...

a72e452a4712aeaf821c204115175196.pnga1c02368aa7f23873c4e244debbf5b95.pnga403710bd8bff5a1381909934d5a655f.png

Lot of depth, lot of quality, we keep getting well rated keepers too. Santamaria is very interesting, and as much as solves problems, adds a few questions...

Added a load of youth affiliates, as much to test as anything, none sent us a player, I don't expect any will(had zero success with this in 17), but I'd like to see if some foreign Basques came in.

298906d868a154c3f6d85cec57a3af34.png428ed6cd6541b8f368797a889ae85255.png22db8a02d016bb4b16d43f1bcf8da79b.png

2b6bd69f0bcb47f81df416e95c1bea0e.png

These four look especially class. Star striker Flano has the hump as we rejected a bit from RB Leipzig, so was chucked in the reserves. It's nice to see if it all goes pear shaped with him, we have a couple of new boys to step up.

Santamaria though, as I said, raises a few questions. He's the DM we need, but could he instead be the BBM we need?

Lots of options to think about long term, Diez was always planned to switch to playmaker, but he's having a fantastic season as a box to box, he could stay there permanently and leave the new fella as a DM.

Arrieta could be our playmaker, long term, or even the box to box himself, as we have young winger Bourgeois coming along super well, but Arrieta is killing it as an Inside Forward.

I've retrained Pereda to be a DM(focusing as an Anchorman as they have a lot of important attributes in common with CB's), but the way he's growing, he looks like he'll be a monster CB.

Aketexe from this latest intake could also be the DM, an either footed DM could be amazing.

178188b205442cad5608d632c57a4792.png

Couple of wingbacks and maybe a more natural RW/IF than using Laporte(who's far more of a striker) would have us super well set both short and long term.

2025 Results ~ League Table ~ Club Info ~ Facilities ~ Finances

We had an amazing start to the season but our form leveled out and we finished in comfortable mid-table. With Kenzo Pollet leaving to play for Wolves U23s we've lost considerable firepower up front - we're now reliant on aging club legend Francois Massimi to score the goals. We've got some promising youngster coming through, however.

Another one in the bag, and on we march.

While it looked like we didn't pull up any trees in Europe, I'm actually quite delighted with how we done, as I pretty much exclusively played backups.

a80124d594c223f5840acee5022bae5d.jpgf8c8383e82319bfec5a1ecfd657631cb.png

You'll notice Flano doesn't appear on the scoresheet in January or February, at the start of January I rejected a transfer to RB Leipzig and he lost his head. Dumped in the reserves until he came to his senses. 36 goals and 15 assists in all comps, despite missing 2 months is bonkers. Even won the golden boot.

Big clubs are starting to eye up our players, might be in for a long summer.

Ligue 1 Results ~ Ligue 1 Table ~ Club Info ~ Facilities ~ Finances

We pushed on in the league and managed to climb into 3rd place and a CL spot on the final day of the season, though only ahead of Monaco and Guingamp on goal difference! We did well in the domestic cups, only being beaten by PSG in the quarters and final. PSG are dominant, getting over 100 points for the 4th season running and retaining the champions league despite swapping out Mancini for Conte. They're going to be so hard to catch. However, the triumph of the season was without doubt the Europa League win! We beat Juventus and Spurs on the way to the final; the latter we overcame a 2-0 away defeat by winning 3-0 at the Cahuzac. It was a proud moment for Yannick Cahuzac, who as assistant manager emulated his grandfather who took Bastia to the 1981 UEFA Cup Final and we managed to win it, hitting Bournemouth on the counter in a 3-0 victory in Bari's San Nicola.
