It's... Ackter's Overall Best Eleven Longevity Challenge 2013!

Recommended Posts

Hi there, and welcome to Ackter's Overall Best Eleven longevity challenge... 2013!

The challenge is simple - who can get the most total appearances in their overall best eleven. The best thing about this challenge? It can be done alongside pretty much any challenge you're already involved in if you so wish. Any version of FM is allowed.

All you need to do is post a screenshot of your overall best X1 screen and add up all of the appearances - the obvious (if slightly mental) aim, is to fill the screen with 1000+ appearance players. You're welcome to post, at the end of each of your seasons, an updated Best X1 screenshot and total.

Here's the previous thread:

So let's get this challenge started!

604008_10152235064015268_886755483_n.jpg

First X1 appearances: 1,001

Sub appearances: 280

Total Best X1 appearances: 1,281

From that list, both Jeff Kitson and Craig Smith have just turned 17, and I have a few more U18 players running around in the first team this season so hopefully more will start appearing in next season's Overall best X1. I'm expecting a minimum of 600 appearances from each of them.

First X1 appearances: 1,467 (+466)

Sub appearances: 408 (+128)

Total Best X1 appearances: 1,875 (+594)

Good improvement over last time as you can see. Special mention has to go to Craig Smith, who's topped 100 games at the tender age of 17, including winning his first England cap. New entrant Jens Eide joins the list, has mega promise but is already 19 so always runs the risk of being replaced by a younger model should one turn up. 3/4s of my starting X1 are now U19.

Have signed a new youngster called Manu, from Saville, who will be taking over first team duties from Immobile, who will in turn share the second striker spot with Cisse.

Right, are you adding up the sub appearances separately, or is there an option to have it list starts and subs?

Also, I guess the best time to do it is at the end of each season when it updates?

Here's mine from Jan 2016, some of these players (Whichelow and Trotman) haven't played for me since season one, and 4 of the players (Whichelow, Ranger, Amalfitano, Bignall) were only on loan, though Bignall had 2 seasons with us.

Total = 1258 (including subs apps).

No regens in there yet, though this may change after this season. Also, sort of proud that my fullbacks have a combined 250 apps without scoring :D

Picture broken for me, anyone else? It worked to start with :(

First 11:- 2651 appearances.

Subs:- 964 appearance

Overall:- 3615 total appearances.

My best eleven from my Dafuge challenge, I doubt I will get high with any other save as I don't tend to stick at one club but you never know.

How have you already played 15 seasons?

First X1 appearances: 1,896 (+429)

Sub appearances: 496 (+88)

Total Best X1 appearances: 2,365 (+490)

Slight slow down in appearance increase this season as some younger players replace the old, but there's a lot of promise going on there with new 18 year old wonderkid signing Manu replacing Shola Ameobi after only one season at the club.

Craig Smith and Jeff Kitson are on course to hit 200 appearances well before they hit the age of 20.

Poli and Immobile have both left the club after demanding double their current wages for a new contract. Netted me a nice £30m combined.

First X1 appearances: 2,215 (+319)

Sub appearances: 628 (+132)

Total Best X1 appearances: 2,843 (+478)

Another good season, with some of my youth breaking through. Fiorentini and Houghton make it to the subs bench and it shouldn't be long until they take over. Sub keeper obviously letting me down, but I doubt there'll be another name there until Krul retires.

After a slow start, Manu has really upped his performances so shouldn't be too long until he hits the main list.

Craig Smith makes his 200th appearance shortly after his 19th birthday and is now my captain.

Jens Eide has dropped off the list after I offloaded him to Dortmund for being a drama queen.

First X1 appearances: 2,541 (+326)

Sub appearances: 827 (+199)

Total Best X1 appearances: 3,368 (+525)

Youth players are starting to take over now, with the subs bench almost full and a few more displaced first teamers. As you can see, Manu pulled off an amazing season to burst his way through, knocking Immobile entirely off the list. New entrant Danilo is already 20, but I should still be able to get years out of him.

First X1 appearances: 2,940 (+399)

Sub appearances: 992 (+165)

Total Best X1 appearances: 3,932 (+564)

Another good season of appearances. No real changes in personnel, though Houghton has replaced Poli and special mention has to go to Roni for slightly increasing my sub goalkeeper appearances \o/

Yep,there is. So I just times the total by 5?

Do a normal total, then add a second total showing the x5 value as well.

Surely as there's no leaderboard or criteria to complete the challenge people doing international teams can just judge themselves against each other?

No harm in it, though

Oh and I've arrived at the x5 value based on the following:

An exceptional club career total is 1000 apps

An exceptional international career total is 200 apps

21742_10152264490035268_532143573_n.jpg

First X1 appearances: 3,321 (+399)

Sub appearances: 1,145 (+153)

Total Best X1 appearances: 4,466 (+534)

As mentioned above, Kitson and Palmer have left the club for massive fees, opening the way for youth players who continue to show improvement. Tiote has left the club after wanting a ridiculous wage for what equates to a backup player, and Cisse has hung up his boots after an amazing Newcastle career. HBA has signed on for another season where he continues to deputise on the left wing when needed, while also providing much needed experience and tutoring for the youths (I have not yet decided if that's a good idea...)

From the above list, the following are still at the club and show no signs of leaving:

Krul (32)

Fiorentini (24)

Smith (22)

Houghton (22)

Ben Arfa (33)

Manu (22)

Roni (22)

Danilo (23)

Lykke (21)

Rodriguez (23)

Burke (20)

First X1 appearances: 3,593 (+272)

Sub appearances: 1,336 (+191)

Total Best X1 appearances: 4,929 (+463)

Another good increase, about to break the 5,000 apps mark. First the bad: Lykke has stopped improving, so will be heading out the door soon. His replacement is already in the team so shouldn't be a problem. Craig Smith should break the 500 apps marker this season, and he's not turned 24 yet. Unfortunately he still has no love for the club so chances are I'll only be able to get a few more seasons out of him before he wants to move on.

Update to my overall best XI, now 17 seasons in.

overallbestxi.png

First XI: 4,128 appearances

Subs: 1,759 appearances

Squad of 18 Total: 5,887 appearances

Progress has definitely slowed. Only 3 of the First XI are current first team regulars and just two of the subs.

I have a great crop of youngsters in the 18-21 age range already hitting international status, but yet to crack this list. Once they do, numbers should pick up!

First X1 appearances: 3,844

Sub appearances: 1,463

Total Best X1 appearances: 5,307

Yet more insurgences of my youth team into the overall best X1. Johan Rodriquez has now left the club for a record £42m - not bad for a £1.5m backup signing who scored a hattrick on his cup debut and never looked back.

In stranger news, Matthew Palmer has rejoined the club after four years in Spain as I've changed formations to a 442 as 8 seasons with one tactic is more than enough.

Well, you could try with a journeyman save, but the chances of you staying at one club long enough to make a dent are slim.

Though I suppose it could work if you keep signing the players from your previous clubs.

First X1 appearances: 4,114

Sub appearances: 1,613

Total Best X1 appearances: 5,727

Lots of changes happening at Newcastle this season. Krul has finally gone, meaning Tom Slade is now getting in some major appearances. He'll only be long term if I can't find a much younger keeper with higher potential.

Charlie Burke joins Juventus for £30m+ to make way for a 21 year old English winger that's ready for the first team. Already has a good bunch of appearances under his belt as sub and cover.

Richie Harwood can't be far off replacing Jeff Kitson in the starting X1.

Players still at the club:

Martin Fiorentini (27)

Craig Smith (25)

Danilo (26)

Andrew Houghton (25)

Manu (26)

Tom Slade (23)

Matthew Palmer (25)

Keon Smits (23)

Richie Harwood (23)

And lots more talented youth waiting in the wings if these don't shape up.

Still having problems finding a proper class young keeper, preferably with a really high free kicks rating...

10 seasons into my youth challenge, and the squad have racked up a decent amount of appearances so far, it'll probably plateau after a few more years but that's a while off yet.

Dardanelspor_HistoryBestEleven.png

First XI apperances: 2867

Subs appearances : 880

Total combined : 3747

First X1 appearances: 4,362

Sub appearances: 1,754

Total Best X1 appearances: 6,116

Continued improvement again, though there aren't really any young players making a proper stake for the team at the moment. New entrant Ozgur Sahin will probably be moved on in the next few weeks to make way for better, younger players.

Forgot this after last season so here's one two seasons on:

Linky - http://gyazo.com/db9b2a29d8e7cf52593c08d93b63d427

FIRST XI - 3578

SUBS - 1392

TOTAL - 4970

Up from 4729. Only the front 3 and Leitner are still at the club from the starting XI and only 3 from the bench are still here and playing.

Out of interest, what's the highest total you've reached in previous versions Ackter?

224890_10152324641185268_1533775439_n.jpg

First X1 appearances: 4,744

Sub appearances: 1,858

Total Best X1 appearances: 6,602

Another good season sees almost 500 appearances added in total. My oldest player is now Fiorentini at 29, but there should still be another 6 seasons in him. Tiote is still resolutely holding on to his midfield place, despite leaving the club many seasons ago.

First X1 appearances: 5,145

Sub appearances: 1,922

Total Best X1 appearances: 7,067

Another 400+ appearances sees the team pass 7,000 combined apps

6 players have now passed the 500 appearances mark, 5 of which are still at the club and one of which accounts for over 10% of all the club's appearances

First X1 appearances: 5,487

Sub appearances: 2,057

Total Best X1 appearances: 7,544

Craig Smith now on 773 career appearance and has just turned 29. Will he be able to make it to 1,000 club appearances? He already has almost 150 appearances for England, so total career appearances should easily surpass 1,000. Willie Harper has finally made it into the X1, but annoyingly it still insists on placing Harwood on the right wing, despite being a left winger for most of his career, and thus keeping Harper out of the main squad while Kitson gets to faff around in there, making it look untidy. Tiote yet again holds on to his place, but a few promising midfielders are sure to take his place in a few seasons' time. Celiz finally breaks into the subs bench but he's the only "old" signing I made so only has a few more seasons at the club. I already have his replacement so he may be moving on sooner than he thought.

Harwood has also left the club, moving to Man C in a massive £35m deal. Keeper Tom Slade has left the club to make way for a 19 year old Spanish wonderkid I've had for a few seasons. he joins Real Madrid for £18.5m.

Here is my attempt on FM12

2012122300002.jpg

First XI Apps: 3610

Sub Apps: 872

OVR Apps: 4482

Nearly the whole ovr XI is still at the club bar Rodriguez. The squad still has about 7-8 seasons left before they start to retire. Also the squad only cost 10m which was all for the guy called sotiris something on the bench.
