FC United of Manchester - Barclays Premier League - 2020/21

Bernard Brennan – I never thought I’d live to see a player to the 100 goal a season mark under my management, but the living legend that is big Bernard Brennan proved me wrong as he smashed in a ridiculous 123 goals at an average of 1.92 goals a game  What a player, he must surely be one of the best players that has ever graced the game!

*

congratz on a season which can only be described as incredible

i am still on awe of bernard brennan, 123 goals  im lucky if my top scorer can get a 100 less than that in a season :o

Thanks to both of you, MikaelS and hrbfcrule

No need to be embarrassed by Brennan, he's probably the best regen striker, and possibly best regen that FM09 has ever seen!

It was my best season yet by some distance, we didn't lose at all and to win all 7 competitions that we entered is brilliant! The only reason(s) i'm still going with this save are: 1. The "Golden Generation" and 2. Brennan could/should break the 1,000 goal barrier! :D

'Mon Bernard you living legend, to those magical 4 figures and beyond! :D

So, this season, I appear to be the bane of teams in the bottom 5 of the Premiership - all three of my wins in the League Cup (for some reason, I got a bye in the first round) have come against teams in the bottom 5. The best thing is, aside from the 2nd round match against West Brom, who're bottom and I beat on penalties), I've scored legit wins. The Villa result I posted above, with the 1-0 away win, and a 2-1 win at home against Blackburn.

Unfortunately, my quarter-final is against Arsenal, who are top of the Premier League. I hope their back-ups don't kill me too badly...

Finally, after seven months without an international job I have found my ticket to the 2034 World Cup. I initially jumped when I saw the Scotland job had become available, but then I realised the reason why. The World Cup holders had failed to qualify, finishing 4th in their qualifying group.

Then, with just four months to go until the tournament started, two World Cup nations became available, Nigeria and Ghana.

It took a while for me to decide, but based on the current squad I went for Ghana.

They expect me to get to the second round, which could be a little ambitious with this group.

after trying for a million years to get hemel hempstead, i finally gave up and went for Tiverton. I completed my first season yesterday, Paul Wyatt had a stellar year coming top of the league goalscoring charts with 24 goals, I finished 2nd, 1 point behind Havant & Waterlooville and automatic promotion. Thinking I would be a shoo-in for playoff success, we promptly got knocked out by bloody Woking 1-2 on aggregate. A disappointing end to a great first year, although now I've just started the second season and I'm coming 12th after 5 games, and I'm a little worried that if Wyatt doesn't back up his good season, I might just be spending a little more time in BSS than I thought.

Dartford FC - Barclays Premier League - 2033/34

Last season we suffered the heartache of a Champions League final loss so once again, the aim was to regain our European crown.

League Table

League Positions Graph

It was a really weird season, after 31 games were were undefeated but in 2nd place (we were two games ahead in the middle of the season). Just as we lost our first game of the season, Arsenal imploded, allowing us to win the title with two games left.

Community Shield - cracking match, six in a row for us now.

Carling Cup - the scoreline was a bit generous but we played well.

FA Cup - was a bit of a shock to go out in the 3rd round.

UEFA Champions League - the group stage was easy enough but things got interesting towards the end. The final was a simple affair, dominated by Even.

Transfers - a few youngsters were brought in, along with a solid midfielder.

Squad - there is a real mix of ages at the moment, I will be looking to bring the average age down soon.

Key Player Profiles:

Allan Arnold - brought in to toughen up my midfield, he did a good job.

Oswaldo Even - he's equalled his best ever goals total and done it scoring just over a goal a game. We really are not the same team without him.

Marco Emonts - the record signing had another good season but he's getting on a bit.

Goodbyes:

For the first time in this career, I have a couple of long term players retiring.

Patrick Keil - History - he was well past it this year and was only brought on in the CL final to go out on a high.

Saifallah Zitouni - History - a true legend at the club, made nearly 500 appearances and sparked the beginning of our success.

Next Season

I think now is a good time to start making a bit more of an effort to bring my own youth players through, I'm going to try not to sign anyone more and rely only on my youth system. No idea how long this will last.

This is not good news, after waiting so long for this stadium it is annoying to hear it will not be as big as I need.

England European Championship 2048

I Took my first International job this year and i came in the European Championship predicted to end in 2nd place.

The group stage was pretty straight forward as i won all three games Group

Quarter Final Again, no goals conceded and a narrow win!

Semi Final Again again no conceded goal but terrible finishing and we had to take it home with penalties.

The final was a copy from the last European Championship. England won that game 2-1.

But my team wanted it different this time. Once again we didnt concede a goal! Pretty impressive record not to concede even one goal in the European Championship.

Once again we had the cool in penalties and my first trophy as an International Manager was in the bag!

So, uh... about that. :D

That's probably my best moment on FM09, bar none. I mean, I can't believe we managed to win that game. We pretty much had all of one attack, which ended in the penalty, and then just held out as they utterly dominated us before and after that one glorious moment. In one way, I'm kinda disappointed, though. My defence and 'keeper (former Arsenal 'keeper Vito Mannone, bet he was pleased :D) were absolutely immense. But they only managed ratings of 7.4, 7.4, 7.1, 7.0 and a 6.2. I think they deserved better - I mean, they were perfect on tackling (29/29 as a unit) and made 31 interceptions between them. But meh. That's only a minor point. Semi-Finals, here we come!

Farnborough 2011/2012 Blue Square Prem

Media expectations: 14th

My expectations: Play-off place

Actual Position: 2nd

Overall i have to say i'm disappointed with how this season finished despite reaching my aim of a play-off place. With 5 games to go i was 5 points clear at the top of the league, where i had been since Xmas. I then proceded to collapse by conceding dodgy goals, (straight from a corner being my favourite) which lost me points whilst my forwards missed chance after chance. After beating Bournemouth, (who eventually won the league) 2-0 to open up the 5 point lead, i was confident of winning the league.

Having blown it my Wembley finals bad performances continued - i have now lost 2 FA trophy finals and now a play-off final on penalties!

The only positives are that my squad is staying pretty much the same and they are of a reasonably good quality, and that my finances are now close to the £1 million mark!

This season wouldn't have been bad at all if i was not at the top of the table for so long, it makes not getting promoted very difficult to accept!

One point to make is that my pitch is in such a bad state that games keep getting arranged so that i have like 5 games in 10 days, so i need a big squad, but this leads to unhappy players in other times of the season, something i desperately need to balance for nexst season!

Star players: None really that i can point out, Josh Payne in defence got quite a few headed goals, while Neilsen proved a resaonble signing, but i lack strikers who consisitently score enough to get me that automatic promotion spot

Aims for next year:

Promotion, hopefully through 1st place, or a may have a disaster at Wembley again!

Buy or find a consistent striker - possbily Shaun Harrad from Burton

Good cup performances again to keep finances up

Oh also i forgot to mention, i'm struggling to make my own tactics, managed one which has worked reasonably well, but have othwerwised struggled, if anyone would like to lend me their tactics i would appreciate it very much, as i don't really have the time to develop my own at the moment.

Thanks!

It's a brilliant run financially, and great for morale... not so good for maintaining fitness, though. I'm having issues up front, with my strikers managing to get injured all at once. It's probably my fault for only carrying three out and out strikers, but I only ever play one of them at a time, and I don't even include a specialist striker on the bench except for FA Cup and League Cup games when I get the full seven man bench. The semis are over two legs, so I doubt I can pull off a miracle against City.

The final might, just might be on... :-O

I'm pretty much praying that Man City don't work out that, while I'm perfectly capable of beating their back-ups, their first team will probably rip me apart and win by, like, 10 goals. To be fair to them, they seemed to have a few injuries, else I think they wouldn't have been playing Craig Bellamy or Paul Marshall, who were making their first appearances of the season and I doubt I would have pulled it off against a stronger City side. Now I just have to survive at the City of Manchester, and we're Wembley Bound!

Somehow, I feel I should start singing Que Sera, Sera. Awesome, awesome moment for me. To score the goal that sent us through 3 minutes into injury time is beautiful, whether we would have had extra time or not. The best thing is, the goal scorer is one Andy Johnson, whose a regen who spawned at Tonbridge at the season update point that I took over the team. He's surprisingly good for where he was generated, and were it not for a broken leg that held him back last season, I'd probably have sold him during the last January transfer window, since before his injury, he was getting looks from some decent sides.

Ghana - World Cup - 2034

Qualification for the 2034 World Cup in Germany was managed by the previous manager of Ghana and they made it with ease.

Japan vs Ghana (group stage)

The stats didn't really tell the whole story here as we looked the more dangerous of the two teams. The late equaliser was a killer and will make qualification from this group very difficult now.

Ghana vs Portugal (group stage)

This was a superb result as we twice came back from a goal behind. Assuming Portugal beat Japan, this means we need a draw against France to qualify for the next round. A win and we are definitely through.

France vs Ghana (group stage)

We took an unexpected lead and tried to sit back and waste time. France bombarded us but just couldn't find a second goal.

Final Group Table

Japan managed a 2-2 draw with Portugal which left an interesting scenario. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure how we qualified.

Ukraine vs Ghana (second round)

It was a fairly even game until we took the lead, we then shut up shop and protected it for the last 20 minutes.

Cameroon vs Ghana (quarter final)

For the first time this tournament we dominated a match but despite playing against ten men just couldn't find a winner. The penalties went to sudden death and thanks to one miss, we went through.

Ghana vs Belgium (semi final)

Once again our opponents found themselves down to ten men and once again we dominated the match. This time we were in complete control and made sure of the result with a late penalty. Truly amazing stuff as Ghana reach the World Cup final.

Czech Republic vs Ghana (final)

Wow. We took the lead with a stunning strike from around 20 yards and continued to push for the rest of the half. The Czech Republic came out in the second half and absolutely battered us, it really was 45 minutes of frantic defending followed by huge punts up the field. Somehow, we managed to hold on for the most unlikely of World Cup victories.

Next Season

This really was the most unbelievable win in my career with a team that was supposed to just be a three game run out in the group stage. There's no way I can possibly follow up this feat with Ghana so I have resigned on a high. There's a number of high profile jobs available with at least four that I am interested in so it will be interesting to see where I go next.

Well you say that. but considering what you've managed to do all the way through the competition, i wouldn't be too supprised if you won it tbh! :D

Of course, if I'd read the results properly, I'd have realised that I'm playing Liverpool in the final. They'll kill me, I can't see them playing anything other than a full strength team in the final and I don't see the same combination of sky-high morale, tactical and strategic superiority, match practice and pure, unadulterated luck carrying me past their first team. I have injuries, tired players and a fixture backlog to deal with before then, too.

Having said that... if I win, would I get into the EURO Cup despite being in League One or the Championship? I know it'd happen if I won the FA Cup, but I recall the rules being diffeent with the League Cup...

England – Confederations Cup – 2021

After having won the World Cup the year before and the European Championships 3 years earlier, we came into this as massive favourites. I expected us to reach the final, as did the FA and the fans.

USA Vs England (Group A):

We played awfully, nowhere near the standard that has seen us top the rankings for the last 3 years, but a moment of pure brilliance from Carr won us the game.

England Vs Spain (Group A):

We were in total control in this one, we should have scored more and, believe it or not, the scoreline didn’t do us justice at all!

New Zealand Vs England (Group A):

I put out a weakened team and this was the result. A fantastic display from everyone all over the park

This was how the group stages finished.

England Vs Mexico (Semi-Final):

We scored early and never looked back as we booked our place in the final with ease against a poor Mexico side.

USA Vs England (Final):

They gave us a run for our money in the groups, but the final was a completely different story as we dominated from start to finish to clinch the Confederations Cup for the very first time! :)

Awards & Other:

I was offered the Brazil Job just after the semi final, which I obviously turned down.

Rapid Wien 0-1 Dartford

It may not sound like a great result but this was a monumental moment in Dartford's history. All eleven players that featured for Dartford were products of our own youth system. There's no way this team could cope with stronger opponents but I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come as I look to promote home grown players at Dartford.

AngelsshatterLiverpoolatWembley.jpg

I'm pretty much speechless right now. That wasn't a full-strength Liverpool team (Reina was injured, Carragher, Gerrard and Torres were all rested, for example), but it was pretty strong. All of the starting line-up bar the back-up 'keeper had made double digit starts for Liverpool this season, and of the subs, only a youth striker (who picked a hell of a game to become Liverpool's youngest ever player :(), the reserve goalkeeper and a 27 year old former Argentine youth midfielder hadn't played that many games. So, it's not like they played their reserves. To be fair to them, they utterly destroyed me for most of the game, but my defence magnificently held them off. Basically all I got was a goal from a corner with 2 minutes to go when I was throwing everything at them since I has nothing left to lose at that point, and a wonderful goal from the edge of the box after a route one hoof clear left Mak with just the 'keeper to beat.

Awesome. Plus, I got a cool million from winning, the supporter's club trying to get me the key to the city, a very happy board and... European football next season, I think! That'll teach those Premiership teams for treating the League Cup like a joke... :D

Having posted my profile a good few pages ago Ive been playing un-officially at Hitchin. Just didn't have the motivation to do the big season reports, will start afresh on 2010 though.

Anyway 2016 and have just got Hitchin to the championship! I finally got a stadium expansion but it was only from 3800 to 4000. And it cost me £1 million! For 200 seats?

Anyone else been shafted as badly?

Izzy’s Angels – 2012/2013 Season

Coca-Cola League 1

Media Prediction: 24th

Final Position: 4th

Final Table

Playoff Semi-Final 1st Leg: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Tonbridge Angels

Playoff Semi-Final 2nd Leg: Tonbridge Angels 1-1 Huddersfield Town (Agg: 2-2, Pens: 5-4)

Playoff Final: Blackpool 1-3 Tonbridge Angels

Game of the Season: Blackpool 1-3 Tonbridge Angels – The smug Scouse git Peter Reid’s Blackpool side denied me automatic promotion and knocked us down to fourth on the last day of the season. This was part of a 13 match unbeaten run that I ended by beating them by the same score line they beat me to win the playoff final. It’s also notable for being the game when I finally had one of the players I’ve signed take a major record – skipper Dominik Hofbauer marked his record 103rd league appearance for the Angels by lifting the play-off trophy. A minor record was also broken, as Shane Lowry’s assists for all three goals took him to 32 for the season, a new club record.

League Cup win in League 1

That's almost as crazy as Hamilton's game :D

Hah, well... none of the teams I played put out full-strength teams, so that helped. Plus, if you watched the games, you'd wonder how the hell I managed it. Aside from the one truly great performance against City when I won 3-2, the rest of them pretty much consisted of me playing like the AI when people are convinced it cheats, getting absolutely hammered by teams who just wasted their chances whilst taking one or two of the few opportunities that came my way. The best example being the second leg against City when I equalised, thus winning on aggregate, 3 minutes into injury time.

Frankly, I'm terrified that the luck from that run is going to come back and bite me in the ass this season. Especially since I appear to have lost my mind and just broke my record transfer fee by almost £3.5m by spending £3.5m on an 18 year old regen 'keeper who might not even be available for my first European match because he's on international duty at the U-19 Euros...
