Thanks for clarifying. Assuming this is a 1 season test, RNG could factor in. Such a significant reduction in cards is worth chancing it i feel.

Is it though? For smaller squads I'd say yes but for the bigger clubs, perhaps not.
I mean, who cares what happens on the pitch if, at the end of the season, you still get more points with 'get stuck in'?
The only risk is perhaps for those cup/European games where a red card could cost you the game.
Not having a go at you, just trying to see it as an end that justifies the means.

Lower mentality was done using Instant Result only

I see.
And it's already been reported that a slightly lower mentality with IR works better anyway.
But that was just moving it down one notch, not all the way down to cautious.
Meh, we are 3rd in the table and only expected to finish 9th so what harm can it do us to try cautious for away games? 😄😏

Cautious was done as an experiment because my team was a heavy CL away underdog. I decided to stay with it for a stretch of games to see what would happen.

FM 20.4 and 20.3 me 2040  Tactics  (includes FM 20.2 Beta tactics and FM 20.2.4)

TACTIC LINKS AND TACTIC RANKINGS FROM THE INDEPENDENT TESTS (MR L & FM BASE) ARE NOW ON GOOGLE DOCS LINK BELOW

http://bit.ly/knaptactics

Because I test with top, the pts total in tactic name will give an idea of what is best for top club, Top Clubs should be able to use all of the tactics.

Elite  Club say 1-2in League (Lpool MC etc) Top  3-7 in League

Top 3-  7 in League

Good  8-11

Average 12-16

Poor 17-20

Can also use Top and Sub Top a Home Tactic Underdog Away or

Top Favourite Sub Top Evens Underdog if Underdog

FOR SUS AT END OF GAME TRY - REGROUP AND HOLD SHAPE

How is Tactic Testing done?
We test each tactic over a 90 game season (11 months in total) with 5 teams of varying levels of both ability and reputation. Each team is in a self-contained league that mimics real-life (majority the same level, but some are in the level above or below). This means that our test teams should be around mid-table level.

To make the test balanced transfers, internationals, injuries and fatigue are turned off for all teams.

What are the levels and how are they calculated?
Levels of teams are based on club reputation. The levels are as follows:

Elite - Barcelona, Arsenal

Top - Borussia Dortmund, FC Krasnodar

Good - CEC, Rangers

Average - Malmo FF, Newcastle United Jets

Lower - Al-Rayyan Sports Club, Southport

We worked out the average reputation of each of the levels, combined with taking a set of 5 clubs (2 top reputation, 2 lowest reputation and 1 in the middle) to find out the Top and Bottom CA for players, as well as the Median.

My journey with Maidstone:

I have to blame myself, not designing and playing from 1 match with 20.4.0 TEA FOR ONE VOL4 4411 P103 ALL CUPS.

I have designed my team to play with Black Echo 442.

If someone plays at Vanarama, they know that finding players is PITA.

Three defeats with 20.4.0 TEA FOR ONE.

Rest defeats with Black Echo.

Now.

The more serious things about the game.

I am taking responsibility of training.

I am using 2 Match from FM Korea and Chance Creation & Score More Goals from Passion4FM.

https://www.passion4fm.com/football-manager-training-schedules-megapack/

I am also using training sche. for youths from Passion4FM.

Not so much for comment about those, I have started to use it 8 months (in game) now.

Chance Creation & Score More Goals sche. really helps. I haven't checked Youths.

SHOTS

Demand More when we are winning by 1 goal.

Show Some Passion when we are back at score.

Praise when winning 2 or more goals.

--

FA Trophy and if we make League 2 promotion, who knows.

MRr Hough recommended shouts

Use shouts Show Some Passion and Demand More. Also concentrate if leading by a few goals

Knap is pure genius!! no tweaks, no signings. all instant used original tactic but changed mentality depending on opposition tactics. before every match i check opposition and checked their mentality...if they play cautious, i play on control. i used cautious away against the top 6. if oppo mentality is balanced/control/attacking then i played attacking. removed "get stuck in" in away games and cup games.

The SPs are set up including corner and throw in takers

Thanks @knap should I assign set-piece takers then? Like my MCR to take the corners or just leave it? If I leave it my LB, who is my best corner taker, appears to be taking them.

@michaelblak

If Malmo top team in league then use a top or sub top tactic and in Europe underdog.

A tactic like PILGRIMAGE 4321 OXFORD P107 can cover both top and under. However you also have option of changing mentality like RDF has done with MU.

Just started as unemployed in a new save.

After half a season, managed to get Alfreton Town.

They are 22nd in the Vanarama National North...

Any suggestions on which tactic to use for a team thats expected to get relegated from the lowest league in game? xD

So are we saying now all tactics away from home should be Take "get stick in " off instructions and this will help??

Has this been been shown to work yet or not ? I will try it. !??

My opinion, no. This shouldn’t be a rule. Removing this option, for me, has worked in certain situations.

if you are Man Utd and playing Brighton away, removing the “get stuck in” wouldn’t improve results as you are heavy favourites and Brighton will be defensive and you won’t be defending much but you still want to win the ball back urgently. If you are Brighton and playing most teams away, yes, I would remove “get stuck in” as you will be defending a lot and likely to give away free kicks, penalties and yellow/red cards.

my opinion, it’s best to remove that option when you believe you will be defending more than usual away from home. Or if opponent have many skilful players

Hey guys, what formation works best this year between 4-5-1 (DM, 2 CM and AML/AMR) or 4-2-3-1? With 4-5-1 my attacker seems to do nothing and barely scores and with 4-2-3-1 my AMC has this problem.

The only formation that has worked for me last couple of years is 4-4-2 and I'm so tired of using it every year...

@kagi

Kashmir was set up for elite teams and probably not even 1st season.

I would say the original high scoring Kashmir after the update. It is now nowhere near as prolific and I would not even say it was a good tactic.

II an tweaking the tactic to see if the goal scoring can be improved

Has Kashmir 433 been affected since latest update as it does not seem to do what it used to !! it is now playing differently in my opinion !?

Also what would you now say is a good high scoring tactic between all your tactics , i have found another tactic at the moment but its not as good as your tactics .

I did a quck test with several tactics 20.4.0 playing the same game 4 times with each tactic

I wanted to see the impact of RNG on a specific game.

My line up was Always the same (the 2 AMs can also cover CM position) except when playing with 2 forwards, in that case i had to replace a midfielder with a forwarder

It's the second season running.

My Team is Ross County, we are predicted 3rd (last year i've got the 4th spot) but the gap with Rangers and Celtic is very wide.
