I've been getting a lot of niggly injuries but not many long-term ones, fortunately. I have seen around the forum people getting a ridiculous number of injuries. It may have something to do with it being harder to keep players fitness levels up this year. Leaving a player out for a few games sees their match fitness drop to about 50%.

Certainly wouldn't blame anyone for starting again if they get too many injuries.

Isn't this a common bug with ever edition of the game? Always seems to get lots of injuries until the first patch.

A 4-2-3-1. Two Inside Forwards flanking an Advanced Playmaker, spearheaded by an Advanced Forward. I usually get one of my full backs to go forward, too. Creates some good play down the sides and gets my wide players involved a lot.

Like a few people, though, I'm not getting the most out of Ramsey in a B2B role. Good average rating, but assists, goals, pass success and average amount of tackles way too low.

It's because your set up is quite narrow. Your wide men come inside, your AMC stays central and your striker will stay high and central. So its no shock that Ramsey won't score much because as a Box to Box Midfielder he needs gaps in front of him to attack and exploit to be effective.

SO just finished my first season with Arsenal, inspired by this thread I might add.

Here is the league table. As you can see we won the league. Looking back it was quite comfortable. However we didnt do so well in the Champs League or the FA Cup; being knocked out by Madrid and United respectively

Competitions_Competitions_zpsc110a665.png.

The players and their contributions,

Squad_PlayersPlayers_zps30c950ff.png

Podolski Killed it! Golden boot and player of the year. Good contribution from the young lads too, Munir, Tielemans.

The tactics that got us there!

Tailed off towards the end of the season. Being hammered by Madrid didnt help! Then the loss at Spurs was a kick in the balls. Completely out played them too!

Finally the wonder that is Ajer

Getting there! Will be more in my plans in the next two coming seasons. Might loan him out to a championship club this season to get first team experience.

Will post more soon this is all I have accessible.

What CM role are you using Saul as a backup for?
He is normally used as a CM/D. I occasionally move him to my b2b role depending on the game. He scored a 30 yard wonder goal for me last night. I have also used him as a backup left sided CB due to injuries.

Anyone managed to sign Reus? I spoke to him and said he could win trophys with us, but unfortunately it was rather unsuccesful and he didn't wish to talk to me any more :( he is out for a few months so I may play the long(ish) game and butter him up and have a go again...maybe offer him the VC

Yeah, his versatility is awesome. I'm worried about someone with his potential just becoming a utility player though. I seem to have found a settled role for him at half back and he's been performing exceptionally there. Touch of the Busquets about him...

Have you got an updated screenshot of him?

I'm still in my usual beta/demo mode of playing pre-season, tinkering with tactics, then reloading and playing pre-season again until I'm happy with the tactics I'm playing with. So he hasn't really progressed since the start of the game yet. Still want a screenshot anyway?

Don't bother speaking with him. Just start with an offer of around $100k and $7.5m as a one off to him and his agent. Afterwards, agree to most of his terms, but raise the player of the year bonus to $1m and lower his wages to around $130k. You should be able to get him for $145k.

Fantastic! I will try this approach!

I'm also going to take my HoYD from negotiating contracts, missed out on both Munir & Sergi because of him!!

Signed Thiago as replacement for Arteta second season, 30 million euros. Muniain to replace Podolski for 47 million euros. Muniain has been deadly as inside forward attack. Thiago has only played easy matches as DLP, because Wilshere is performing better.

Expensive signing but I don't want any bad players and my prospects are not good enough yet.

Hmmm. I've got £5m left in the bank and really want Saul.

I've tried £4m upfront and £6 over 36 months but that doesn't trigger the £10m clause. The squad is pretty much there now, so my only option (with 4 days of the transfer window left) is to try to sell Diaby but no-one wants him because he's still injured. Flamini is the next option but replacing him with a 19 year old seems like one heck of a risk. Especially as Flamini has an average rating of 6.9 at the moment.

Does the clause last through to January 2015 (assuming he doesn't sign a new contract)?

Season 1 - Pre-Season

Finished pre-season, and overall I feel like we did ok. I don’t take control of the friendlies but we won 6 and lost 2, so overall I was rather pleased. I’ve spoken to the board and managed to get both my Youth & Training facilities improved, get a new affiliated club (They only gave me 3 Russian options, but Shakhtar are better than nothing!) and I’ve managed to get more coaches & scouts allowed, further mention of staff movements will be in the ‘Transfers’ section.

I’ve told the board I intend to win the league, which I don’t think is an unreasonable goal given that I think I only need to sign a DM and a couple of CB’s to have the makings of a solid, championship winning team, so that’s where I’ll spend most of my efforts in the transfer market.

Tactics

My 3 main tactics are – 4-2-3-1; 3-3(1xDM, 2xCM)-3(AML, AMC, AMR)-1 & 3-2-5(AML, AMC, AMR & 2 x ST).

I’ve got for a variety of team instructions across the three, but the shape & mentality remains the same, we’re going to be quite a fluid team, but looking to control the game.

At the moment, I’ve got training on 100% match preparation to get accustomed to the formations as quickly as possible.

Transfers

Now, I had a budget of GBP 70mil as I said I’d win the league, and it’s safe to say I’m not Mr Wenger and I’ve blown pretty much all of that (and more!) on some, what I think, is real quality that will add something to the team and help with that title push.

In

Munir – ST© / AM (RLC) – Barcelona – GBP 10.25mil. One for the future, but also, who I hope can have some kind of involvement in the first team this season. Minimum release clause made this a no brainer.

Sergi Samper – DM - Barcelona – GBP 10.25mil. Sergi will have more of a role in the first team than Munir this season as I see him as my natural DM. As above, the minimum release clause made this a no brainer.

John Hou Sæter – M© / DM, AM © – Rosenborg – GBP 11.5k (compensation). One for the future, plan to loan him out in January, may play in the CC.

Valentino Lazaro – AM © / M (LC), AM (RL) – FC Red Bull Salzburg – GBP 1.2mil. HoYD signed this one, seems to be one for the future, already out on loan at Heerenveen.

Marco Reus – M/AM (L) / M ®, AM (RC), ST © – Dortmund – GBP 21mil. This was the one that I targeted, and I got him on GBP 140k a week wages with a few other clauses, but I think he will be the one of my main men. At GBP 21mil he was a bargain!

Iñigo Martínez – D © – R. Sociedad – GBP 25.5mil. He was a bit expensive, but he scouts rated him at 4* (gold) with an additional black star. I needed a CB if I was going to play with 3 at the back and he was solid, if not unspectacular (isn’t that what you want from your CB?) on FM14 for me.

Éder Álvarez Balanta – D © / D (L) – River – GBP 7mil. Signed him on last year’s reputation. Will act as cover for the main 3 until I get a better look at him. Needless to say, if he’s half as good as he was for me on FM14, GBP 7mil is a bargain!

That’s all the traffic coming in, a total of GBP 75mil spent, I got most of the transfer targets I wanted, only unsuccessful targets were Khedira & Coric (Chelsea & Bayern respectively) and Marquinhos (PSG wouldn’t accept an offer and he signed a new contract with them).

I signed Meulensteen (coach), Vales (scout), and Tuchel (HoYD) as staff, and got rid of Jonker (I made him sign a new 1 year deal and the cancelled it so I didn’t have to fork out GBP 6.75mil compensation!)

Out

Joel Campbell – AS Monaco – GBP 20mil – Don’t really rate him, offered him out and Monaco came in with silly money.

Natxo Monreal – AS Monaco – GBP 15mil – Again, Monaco with the silly bids!

Mathieu Flamini – Southampton – GBP 4.5mil – With signing Sergi, Flamini will be limited in playing time. Better to get his wages off the books (although he did demand GBP 10.5k a week until 2016 to leave!)

Abou Diaby – AC Milan – GBP 11mil – Very pleased to get this amount for the injury prone Diaby, I do like him as a player, but he isn’t reliable enough.

Gedion Zelalem – AEK Larnakas – Loan

Renny Smith – FC Lorient – Loan

Yaya Sanogo – RC Lens – Loan

Dan Crowley – Plymouth – Loan

Valentino Lazaro – Heerenveen – Loan

Total coming in = GBP 50.5mil.

Future Targets - In

I definitely want (and probably need) a specialist left back as I don’t rate Gibbs that much and Balanta will do a job as cover, but that is the main area I think I need to improve on. I was playing a fun game to annoy United and I’m currently unsettling Januzaj (he’s already unhappy and wants to move to Arsenal) and I’ve had an enquiry go down from GBP 66mil to GBP 39mil, so hopefully by January it’ll be around the GBP 30mil mark and I’d probably be happy to pay that.

Players to leave

I’m thinking about getting rid of Santi Cazorla &/or Lukas Podolski in January, I will wait and see how they perform in the meantime, but at the moment, those are the only two I’ve got on the theoretical “Chopping Block” from the first team. Francis Coquelin is listed but he’s in the U21’s!

With that, it’s about time to start August and play City for our first bit of shiny!

I must say, I think for those looking for left backs you could be better off developing someone like Targett of Southampton, and keeping Nacho as backup to Gibbs until he matures. He is a useful player to have around the squad.

Munir is my favourite player. Leading goalscorer in my second season with 28. Leading the way on 100 pointa only drew one game this season. Munir is described as a hreat tutor being a model pro! Good as i just had a gold four star gold and one nlack star potential striker come through. That and i purchased Malcom from Corinthiens. Going to be another dominant season.

Just hit the January transfer window, having a good season now after a rocky 2 months, almost missed out on getting out of the group stages of the champions league where I had Monaco, basel and athletic bilbao, in the league after august I was bottom with 2 points, but after getting the team to adapt to tactics I can safely say im working my way up the league in 3rd place, spurs are somehow 1st with only 1 defeat this season...to me a wonderful 5-2 victory at the emirates!

my line up goes like this

szczesny

debuchy koscielny reid gibbs

wanyama

wilshere ramsey

oxlade alexis

Walcott/welbeck

I sold mertersacker, cazorla, monreal, flamini and podolski for a combined fee of £60 million, all the germans were unhappy when I sold santi so sold two of them and kept ozil for now.

brought in:

balanta = 7.5

reid = 6.75

berahino = 9.75

wanyama = 18

So it's been a few years since I got involved!

Started a career with Arsenal!

IN's

- Foday Nabay 175k

- Sergi Samper 10.25m

- Dele Alli 2.6m

OUT's

- Coquelin 2.5m

- Podolski 7.5m

- Flamini 4m

- Campbell 8m

- Dele Alli (loan)

- More Loans

Had a good pre-season, played 9 games scoring 89 goals. I have the team playing as follows.

Chambers Per Kos Gibbs

Ramsey Wilshere

Sanchez Oz Cazorla

Welbeck

My plan was to have ozil on the left and bring in Eriksen in the middle, but they want to much! Plus Cazorla is playing great! 4 in 4 competitive games. All convincing wins apart from a 4-3 defeat to City in the CS. I was winning on the 89th min and it didnt go to extra time!

Quick January update from me:

Premier League

LeagueTableJan2015_zps10a26045.png

With the way we're playing currently, it'd take an implosion of epic proportions for us to not win the title. Our quality and consistency has been higher than anyone else in the league and maintain those levels in the second half of the season will be main challenge.

December was a very long month, with the Boxing Day and New Year's fixtures clogging up the fixture list and giving us very little rest before we're playing again. Having a deep squad, particularly a good number of attackers, has helped us get through this period with good results.

We kicked things off with a comfortable 3-1 win at Stoke, then four days later drew 1-1 against Man City at the Emirates in a game we really should have won given the number of chances we made. A trip to Leicester, after they had won their last three games, saw us play some of the best football we've played all season and race into a 5-1 lead before half-time; the game ended 5-3 as we got a bit complacent in the second half. 19th placed West Brom visited the Emirates the week after and though we won 4-2, the game was a real struggle after Koscielny got sent off after just 20 minutes. The traditional Boxing Day fixture pitted us against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. In a very tight game with precious few chances, we took an 85th minute lead thanks to a Cahill own goal. However, a Szczesny blunder allowed Hazard to equalise in the 92nd minute. The ended the month with a 4-1 win over Sunderland.

It's great that we've yet to lose a game and we're scoring plenty of goals, but I would like us to tighten up at the back (difficult given the issues with goalkeepers and defender in this current ME) and I'm disappointed we couldn't get maximum points against City and Chelsea.

We've got some difficult trips in the second half of the season - Man Utd, Man City, Newcastle, Southampton and West Ham - so I'm not sure we'll finish the season unbeaten.

Champions League

After we lost to Anderlecht in Belgium, we managed to win our three remaining group games and qualify as group winners. We were drawn against Porto in the last 16, so I expect us to reach the quarter-finals at the very least.

Capital One Cup

Our quarter-final tie at Everton was successfully negotiated without too much trouble (a 30 yard chip from Barkley notwithstanding). West Brom are our semi-final opponents, and should we get past them, we'll play one of Spurs or Watford in the final. I'm pretty confident we'll win this.

Players

PlayerStatsJan2015_zps6138867d.png

I'm very happy with how the players are performing. I've managed to rotate well up to this point and it's resulting in a great spread of goals and assists. Podolski has been outstanding in front of goal, while Walcott is starting to come into form with a hat-trick in his last game. Ozil was short-listed for the Balon d'Or and was named in the Team of the Year, but his performances in the last month and a half haven't been too good so I'm going to give him a rest for two or three weeks; Cazorla has been bugging me to play him more, anyway.

A few people have asked about left backs. Kieran Gibbs has been nothing short of brilliant for me as either a Full Back (S) or Full Back (A). His stats don't look like much, but he really does perform well and I recommend you give him a go. There aren't a lot of good left backs around, either. Monreal, too, has done a good job whenever I've played him.

With the January window opening, I'm not looking to do much in the way of transfers. Diaby has asked to leave, so I'll see if I can get someone to buy him now instead of signing him on a free in six months time, and Flamini will certainly be offloaded. A few youngsters may go out on loan, too. I can't see anyone coming in right now.

can fully agree about gibbs, 1 goal 6 assists in 22 appearances for me. in all honesty there is only 3 transfers needed for arsenal at the start, a cb, lb for cover and a dm and the team is set to win the league
Gibbs has done well for me so far he's got 4 assists & an average rating of 7.46 over 9 games

on another topic Giroud has got 2 hat-tricks in 2 games playing as a poacher!!!!!!

Link to post

I would bring 2 DC's so we have 2 players for every position in defence too. At least for me players tire easily this version and don't recover as fast, so rotation is needed.

Played my second season and won premier league! Won 11 matches in a row, which was nice but ManU won 13 which made us even on February. Then we played against ManU and lost. Then away game against Chelsea and lost. I was sure we lost the title. But 3 matches before the season ended I noticed I was leading ManU by 3 points! Nice surprise.

Best players:

Chambers has been amazing. Current ability is 4 star and all important attributes are over 15. Phenomenal on the right wing!

Özil just keeps getting assists when playing Attacking playmaker support/attack on AMC. Best player.

Muniain on AML as Inside Forward attack was voted best player in premier league by journalists. Great season.

Welbeck (advanced forward or complete forward support) was much better this season because I started playing higher tempo and more attacking. Did really great job actually. Girould started to struggle with my faster tactics. I may sell him and start giving playing time for Brazilian attacker Café, who was on loan and averaged 7,50 rating.

Im not getting good rating from my MC (Wilshere/Thiago and Ramsey) no matter how I play them. But I guess it does not matter because I keep on winning. Tried playing them Ramsey as B2B and Thiago/Wilshere DLP Def. Then I changed to Thiago/Wilshere DLP sup and Ramsey CM def. Did not notice much difference. I prefer the first choice and have one playmaker in the deep and one pushed forward (Özil).

Walcott and Sanchez both had lots of injuries, but Ox did great job covering right wing.

Future transfers: High-profile left back to replace Monreal, who just is not good enough. Also Tielemans(?) from Belgium is joining us as a free agent. :) 4-5 star potential. Had to offer him crazy wages though because all big teams were after him. I also have Ruben Neves as 4. midfielder, and after Tielemans is joining I have 5 MC's. Will probably sell Cazorla because he only has 1 year to go and move Wilshere to cover for Özil as AMC.
