I was all set to go FC United.. but I'd already done them in I think 2006? (Whatever the first year they were eligible to end up as a playable team) and I never play the same team twice (have done Guiseley, Burscough, FC United and Ebbsfleet iirc), and Nantwich's stadium is so crap, they have no facilities, good challenge. Thought about using a downloaded Evesham but I don't like using a team I haven't managed to get in my save/reloads.

Season 2010/11 Hastings United - Blue Square South

Oh that hurts...

So, we finished 6th. Yes that is one place below the playoff places. Distraught about covers it - ok that's being melodramatic. What cost us the playoffs? Stats fans will see that scoring 63 goals whilst conceding 61 goals is a surefire way of ensuring that you stay a) part time and b) where you deserve to be.

Finances

152k in the red. Red is the bad one.

Top Scorer

Tommy Amos - 17 goals in 32 starts for the Irishman released from Wigan pre-season. He also grabbed 12 assists and the most man of the match awards in the league with 9. He's going to be gutted that he's not getting promoted...

Player of the Season

I'm not going to go with the fan verdict here - there's only 12 of them. Michael Ricketts can have this award, just because I feel like I may have slated him a little in previous updates.

Goal of the Season

I'll have to give this to centre back Andy Parry. He only scored 3 goals all season but he sure scores good goals when he makes the effort.

Parry Vs Burgess Hill in the FA Cup 2nd Qual Rd

I can't say I enjoyed not getting promoted but it should give me a summer to strengthen and clear out some dead wood.

Oh, and just to make it worse I've been voted Manager of the Year. Thanks guys, rub it in.

Just a quick pre-season update for the Tiverton Town 2012/13 BSS season:

If we don't win this bloody league this year I will be an INCREDIBLY unhappy manager!

Preseason results:

v Exeter 1-1

v Plymouth 1-0 :D

v Bradford PA 1-1

vTorquay 2-0 :D

v Crewe 2-2 :D

As I said: We don't win and I will be really unhappy, looking at those pre-season results.

FC United of Manchester Season review 2011/2012

Well well well, low and behold we got promoted via the playoffs after finishing 4th. After having a very rough Christmas and February, we managed to steady the ship and string together a long list of wins. Our fantastic GD was shot to pieces during the awful run of Christmas and Feb, which was slightly disappointing. However, winning Manager of the Year award was a good thing!

So, to the playoffs:

Loosing 1-0 in the home leg to Wrexham was a pitter pill to swallow. We had to come out fighting in the return leg and we did, beating them 0-3 in the away leg. Chris Fagan hadn't scored in 20 hours of football going into the final. He put that hoodoo to rest with a stunning performance against Histon in the final winning 2-0.

Financially we are stable. Last season we were given a transfer budget of 6k, but I removed that instantly and pumped that into wages - giving me the chance to sign higher end players and keep my overall finances in check. Finances.

Goals of the season:

I have a few, which are still uploading now.

1.

2.

3.

Star players:

1. Chris Fagan - Started great bagging goals left right and centre, but it was his support work that puts him on this list. Running at defenders causing all sorts of problems, freeing up space for wingers and other strikers. Top player

2. Christian Montano - Simply phenomenal. Dont need any more on that

3. Samuel Ameobi - Suprisingly did very well. Stats aren't fantastic but scored a heap this season. Crucial goals too!

4. Ozyakup - The creative force in my midfield. Fantastic player.

5. James Gilpin - A ROCK between the sticks.

Target for next season

Survive. Work on putting as much financially behind the team as possible. From there to establish FC United as a BSP team and maybe a late push for promotion. Need to remove some of the deadwood and bring in some experience. Definitely need to bring in a dead ball specialist. Only signed 1 player so far, in Cedric Evina.

Will do my pre season update later this evening.

A crash and a failure to save has meant that i am back in January! at this rate im never going to finish my first season! now i need to remember the name of the awesome DC that i must have signed sometime after January as he isnt in my squad now :(

On the Upside i was on a 10 game losing streak so every cloud and all that.

FC United of Manchester - Blue Square Premier - 2012/13 Season

Another poor start to the season meant we were playing catch up all the way through, but again we did this superbly. At home we were nearly unbeatable, losing only twice all season, but our away form nearly cost us. After losing our penultimate game to rock bottom Solihull Moors, only a win against Wrexham on the final day would be good enough to win the title. We just about managed it.

League Table

League Positions Graph

We were in playoff contention for the entire second half of the season, but when we won a few matches and seemed to be about to overturn the leaders, poor form hit us and we droped back. Luckily, no team ran away with it this year so our often indifferent form wasn't punishsed too badly.

The cups were dismal again, and unless I get relegated, promotion means I'll never win the FA Trophy :(

Squad

The squad was almost completely overhauled in the summer, the strikers the only area to remain intact and they were the weakest part of the side. The midfield was superb, real depth and a variety of player, most of whom will hopefully be able to cut it in the division above. At the back we were fairly solid, Cameron Lindsay was a rock when he played. Again, hopefully I won't have to bring in too many new faces here.

Finances

Somehow we still have money in the bank, but we're shipping upwards of £20k a month now, so I'm not sure how long that'll last. Board still won't let me have training or youth upgrades though.

Transfers

New first XI basically, the standouts were Kaby, Lindsay and Cassidy. Out went the promoted side from the year before.

Best XI

I'd agree with this in every position, except maybe Akpan instead of Hewson.

Onwards and upwards. I hope to keep the core of this squad the same, but I feel we'll need some more quality up front and at fullback to keep us up.

1. Type your text. wrap the text in {code}texthere{/code} (replace {} with [])

2. go to advanced message, type your text, highlight it and click on the hash (#) mark

Thanks MikaelS - I was thinking of putting it into my signature so it's always there for people to see when I post..can you do that? (if so how do I do signatures on the forum? sorry I'm not internet savvy) :O

I seem to be falling into old habits here - I now have 10 different nationalities in my squad.

I must also admit that I haven't actually heard of one of the countries - 10 points for anyone who can point to Comoros on a map.

I seem to be doing some sort of repeat of last year! Looked set to struggle and get relegated mid-season, then suddenly we surged up the table! I've went from 21st to 2nd in 20 games?! And in all comps, we're on a 23 match unbeaten run?!

10 games to go, this could all go wrong yet...

Just a quick update on my game. Sorry no screenshot since I am posting from work. Only 4 games in with Canvey and sporting an 0-4 record. We do have 4 losses but every game has been 1-0 except for the second where we conceded 3 penalties. We have had more chances and more possession each game but just cannot find net. It doesn't help that both Chris Fagan and Nathan Rooney went down for 2 months at-least in our 2nd to last pre-season game. Callum Bagshaw has been disappointing in his lack of finishing. Just signed Christian Montano before I stopped playing last night so hopefully he will brighten the attack until Fagan gets back.

On another note has anyone else had completely useless scouts? I have two on the Blue Square Premiere and have yet to receive even one player report.

I know it has NOTHING to do with this year's challenge. But this man is a complete fruitloop, but at the same time a complete GOD.

Bedlington Terriers Billionaire Investor

If this man can make Bedlington Terriers available in the Dafuge Challenge in the next 5 years, I will worship him.

I read about that. He's basically doing a real life Dafuge's challenge!

My scout in the BSN found Michael O'Halloran, who scored two goals in Colwyn Bay's first (and only so far) game of the season.

Hello everyone,

I have put the ddt. file in the folder just as the instructions say but it isn't showing up in the game for me to tick/untick? Any ideas?

I have restarted game ect and reloaded skin to see if that works but no luck

Thanks

Jim

Where did you put the ddt file? Are you on a mac or pc?

The dates on these all put them as FM 2010 kits. It was my understanding (and in the Skinning forum sticky) that face-packs and logos from 2010 worked OK in FM 2011, but that kits did not. Can you confirm that these kits are actually working in-game for fm2011?

Still catching up on the rest of the thread and should have a feedback post up soon.

Borini seems like quite a signing, Jordan. He's currently worth £2.5m and playing regularly at Sporting Lisbon on my save.

Currently scored 8 and conceded 8 in my first 15 League 2 games.

*Quietly approaches Borini who is on a free and hiding from my scouts*

Played a few friendlies, done my best in the transfer market, brought a few staff in, Progress so far before the season begins....

Roll on the start of the new season!

I was highly impressed by Jordanswinburn and his graphical display of stats, so I'll be "borrowing" his idea :)

Edit: - I need to figure out how to increase the size of my screenshots! :o

Darren1983: So close! Playoffs can be a toss-up and 3 penalties conceded in one match probably would have the neighbors checking in to make sure I was OK. 20th to 2nd in one season is quite the improvement though and I'm sure you can get promoted next season!

Gypsum: Congrats on promotion! How did you manage to have a 610 average attendance with Chippenham? I think I'm averaging about half of that :( With that kind of average how do your finances look? I'm currently bleeding money horribly.

GeeGeezOrz and davidbowe: Welcome to the challenge and GL!

KLH84: 6th is still a good result! At least you didn't miss the playoffs only on goal difference. That would also have the neighbors asking questions about me! Congrats on manager of the year however! I've yet to even pick up a manager of the month yet in my first season.

Yidd0!: Congrats on promotion. I'm jealous of your finances! I've seen James Gilpin on quite a few peoples list this year. I'm glad hes doing well for you and wishing I'd picked him at the start instead of Mr. Butterfingers!

BennyD81 and Terras-FM: Welcome!

Willy Wonka: Congrats on another promotion. Back to back promotions is some feat. 550k is a bit more than somehow having money in the bank :p Even if you blow 20k/month (which I'm already doing in the BSS lol) you have enough for 2 full years of losses with no incoming coming in!

Re Billionaire thing: If I somehow become a billionaire, I'd do a IRL DFC :) Of course, it would take slightly longer than ours and I'd probably be a grumpy, ranting, old man before getting anywhere close to the Prem, but I'd love to try it! either way its a moot point however, as I don't see myself ever being a millionaire. Heck, I'd probably do it with a few million though!
