January 11th: Tamworth v Hardly Athletic: FA Trophy 2nd Round Replay

Before the game we have found out that if we beat Tamworth we will face Grays away from home in the 3rd Round of the FA Trophy.

We started well again and on the 3rd minute we should of taken the lead as C.de Bruijn curled the ball into the area for F.F.Tikle-Wok who headed wide of the post. Ten minutes later we had another chance as D.O’Toole fired into the keepers arms. I was beginning to get frustrated but on the 34th minute we took the lead as C.de Bruijn curled the ball past the outstretched arms of the Tamworth keeper to silence the home crowd.

Half Time Score 0-1

I made a couple of changed to team at the start of the half with G.Bear and A.Anymoredohnuts coming on for C.Fantu and D.O’Toole. We carried on the pressure and on 59th minute we had the chance to kill the tie off as A.Anymoredohnuts ran through the defence but yet again the Tamworth keeper saved well. Eleven minutes later we were punished for our poor finishing as Tamworth grabbed the equaliser, with S.Lake-Gaskin firing past G.Burgess.

End of Ninety Minutes 1-1

Extra time pretty much came and went as the players didn’t really pile forward as much as the previous ninety minutes and the game went into penalties.

Tamworth took the first penalty with G.Hurran firing in past G.Burgess with ease (1-0)

B.Arsenal was up first for us and he hit home off the upright after sending the keeper the wrong way (1-1)

R.Tait was up next and he hit to the left of G.Burgess who just couldn’t get enough onto the ball to save (2-1)

C.Fantu stepped up for our next penalty and cheekily chipped the ball down the middle to beat the keeper (2-2)

T.Shaw was next for Tamworth and thundered the ball past G.Burgess (3-2)

G.Bear stepped up and hit the ball towards goal, but the Tamworth keeper saved well to deny him (3-2)

L.Graham was next up and hit the ball past G.Burgess with ease who had dived the wrong way (4-2)

T.Owens stepped up next and hit a powerful effort past the Tamworth keeper (4-3)

S.Nicholson was next up for Tamworth knowing if he scored they would be through to the next round, he steadied himself and fired to the left of G.Burgess, however he went right and its Tamworth who go through to the next round (5-3)

Tamworth 1 S.Lake-Gaskin 70

Hardly Athletic 1 C.de Bruijn 34

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, Panpardus, S.Saville, C.de Bruijn, C.Fantu (45-G.Bear), D.O’Toole (45-A.Anymoredohnuts), F.F.Tikle-Wok

Post Match Review: Cant really say much to that, we need to finds that bloody net more than what we are doing. The Man of the Match Award will be going to C.de Bruijn who grabbed the goal for us and really deserved to be in a winning team

January 15th: Tamworth v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (27/46)

Our third game against Tamworth and we again dominated much of the game. We had the first chance of the game on the 12th minute as D.O’Toole tried a curling effort from the corner of the area but the Tamworth keeper acrobatically saved it. Eight minutes later we had a second chance as G.Bear crossed into the area for F.F.Tikle-Wok who managed to send his header into the arms of the keeper. On the 24th minute we finally broke the deadlock as D.O’Toole used his strength to get through the defence and fired past the Tamworth keeper with ease. Three minutes later we doubled our lead as G.Bear hit a wonderful effort from well outside the area to beat the keeper into the top corner. We were looking good for our lead and on the 42nd minute we had another chance with B.Arsenal making his way down the wing and crossing in, but F.F.Tikle-Woks effort went wide of the post with the open net gaping for him.

Half Time Score 0-2

The second half was much the same as we continued our forward pressure and on the 59th minute we had our first real effort with along range effort from G.Bear which nearly caught the keeper off guard, unfortunately he managed to react well and save the ball. On the 75th minute I made our first change as A.Anymoredohnuts came on for F.F.Tikle-Wok. With eight minutes remaining we had our final chance as A.Anymoredohnuts came close with a rasping effort but the Tamworth keeper again saved well

Tamworth 0

Hardly Athletic 2 D.O’Toole 24, G.Bear 27

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, G.Bear, C.de Bruijn, S.Saville, Panpardus, D.O’Toole, F.F.Tikle-Wok (75-A.Anymoredohnuts)

Post Match Review: We finally got a win against Tamworth after three attempts. We again dominated the game and found where there net is. Keep this up lads, that’s all I ask for. The Man of the Match Award will be going to G.Bear who was a constant menace to the Tamworth side

January 22nd: Hardly Athletic v Gateshead: Blue Square Premier (28/46)

We started brilliantly as on the 3rd minute we grabbed the lead with D.O’Toole using his strength to barge his way through the defence and firing past the Gateshead keeper. Ten minutes later though Gateshead grabbed the equaliser with G.Armstrong barging past G.Spavlachenko to fire past G.Burgess. On the 35th minute we had our next chance as F.F.Tikle-Wok rounded the keeper to fire towards goal but his effort somehow managed to go wide of the post.

Half Time Score 1-1

The Second half saw the introduction of C.Fantu who came on for Panpardus. Ten minutes into the half we had the next chance as D.O’Toole ran onto a S.Saville throughball but the Gateshead keeper reacted well and smothered the ball. Just after the half I made a couple of changes with Ishu and A.Anymoredohnuts coming on for G.Bear and F.F.Tikle-Wok. Soon after Gateshead had the chance to take the lead with a great team move which saw G.Spavlachenko halt with a crunching tackle. On the 77th minute we retook the lead as A.Anymoredohnuts hit a great effort towards goal which the Gateshead keeper failed to hold onto and it bobbled into the net. We were looking good for the lead but with three minutes remaining Gateshead grabbed the equaliser with I.Armstrong doing the honours from close range

Hardly Athletic 2 D.O’Toole 3, A.Anymoredohnuts 77

Gateshead 2 G.Armstrong 13, I.Armstrong 87

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, G.Bear (61-Ishu), C.de Bruijn, S.Saville, Panpardus (45-C.Fantu), D.O’Toole, F.F.Tikle-Wok (61-A.Anymoredohnuts)

Post Match Review: A good performance in truth with a lot of great possession football. We could of done slightly better with the goals we conceded but I’m not going to dwell on that. Keep on performing lads. The Man of the Match Award will be going to D.O’Toole who was a constant menace to the Gateshead side

January 24th: Injury news sees A.Marks resuming full training

January 25th: Grays v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (29/46)

We started well and on the 9th minute we had our first chance as A.Anymoredohnuts hit a powerful shot towards goal but his effort was diverted wide by the Grays defence. From the resulting Panpardus corner D.O’Toole headed into the keepers arms. On the 21st minute we again piled forward but Grays countered us and D.Robson beat the offside trap to fire past H.Chaha. Just after the half hour we again came close as S.Saville crossed the ball into the area but A.Anymoredohnuts headed wide of the post. With seven minutes remaining in the half we grabbed the equaliser as D.O’Toole headed in off the upright.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made one change to the team as C.Fantu came on for C.de Bruijn who was having a quiet game by his standard. On the 61st minute we had our next chance as a long ball over the top by G.Bear was fired just wide of the post by D.O’Toole. On the 75th minute I made another change as F.F.Tikle-Wok was brought on for A.Anymoredohnuts. Three minutes later the change paid dividends as F.F.Tikle-Wok fired in past the keeper after playing a quick one two with D.O’Toole. With ten minutes remaining we killed the game off as C.Fantu curled the ball in from just outside the area after D.O’Toole was fouled on his way to goal

Grays 1 D.Robson 21

Hardly Athletic 3 D.O’Toole 38, F.F.Tikle-Wok 78, C.Fantu 80

Players: H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, G.Bear, C.de Bruijn (45-C.Fantu), S.Saville, Panpardus, D.O’Toole, A.Anymoredohnuts (75-F.F.Tikle-Wok)

Post Match Review: A great performance again by you guys. Fair enough we conceded a sloppy counter attacked goal but all the great teams do occasionally. The Man of the Match Award will be going to D.O’Toole who again caused nothing but problems for the Grays defence

January 29th: Injury news sees T.Owens out for around six days after picking up man flu, also we have lost G.Bear for six days after getting food poisoning

Great managerial skills you see minisav

February 5th: Southport v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (30/46)

An excellent start saw us a goal up on the 2nd minute as J.Scottlee of Hesselink ran into the area and fired with ease past the Southport keeper. Eight minutes later we had another chance as James Scottlee of Hesselink showed his strength to barge past the Southport defence but his effort went just wide of the post. On the 23rd minute we had another chance as a vicious cross by S.Saville was diverted just wide of the post by the Southport defence. We were controlling the game and on the 40th minute we grabbed the second goal as J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired into the top corner, to give the Southport keeper no chance of saving.

Half Time Score 0-2

The second half was much the same as we continued to control the game. On the 55th minute we had another chance as Panpardus curled the ball into the area for D.O’Toole but his header went just wide of the post. On the 62nd minute we had yet another chance to score as James Scottlee of Hesselink was brought down in the area by the Southport defence, J.Scottlee of Hesselink stepped up and fired the ball past the keeper to complete his hattrick. A minute later I made a couple of changes as G.Spavlachenko and F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for S.Carl Goatsburg and D.O’Toole. The game continued in our favour and with two minutes remaining we grabbed a fourth goal as Panpardus hit a wonderful effort past the keeper with ease.

Southport 0

Hardly Athletic 4 J.Scottlee of Hesselink 2, 40, 62 pen, Panpardus 88

Players: H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg (63-G.Spavlachenko), T.Owens, M.Kowalski, C.Fantu, C.de Bruijn, S.Saville, Panpardus, D.O’Toole (63-F.F.Tikle-Wok), James Scottlee of Hesselink

Post Match Review: Another great performance as we dominate the game with no trouble. Well done everyone. The Man of the Match Award will be going to J.Scottlee of Hesselink who controlled the attack with ease and of course grabbed a hattrick

February 9th: Hardly Athletic v Chelmsford: Blue Square Premier (31/46)

On the 5th minute we had the first chance of the game as a long ball over the top by Panpardus was volleyed just wide of the post by J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Eight minutes later we had another chance with Panpardus coming close from the edge of the area but the Chelmsford keeper saved well. It was becoming too easy for my team as we controlled everything. On the 37th minute we had another chance S.Saville threaded the ball to the feet of A.Anymoredohnuts but his effort went just wide.

Half Time Score 0-0

On the 58th minute we had yet another chance as Panpardus tried his luck from 25 yards but the effort didn’t dip enough and the ball clipped the crossbar. Four minutes later we took the lead as C.de Bruijn crossed the ball into the area and C.Holloway diverted the ball past his own keeper for an own goal. However on the 63rd minute Chelmsford grabbed the equaliser as T.Mooney hit a thunderous effort past H.Chaha who stood no chance in saving it. On the 74th minute I made a couple of changes with A.Marks and F.F.Tikle-Wok coming on for C.Fantu and A.Anymoredohnuts. We had one final chance in the game with J.Scottlee of Hesselink heading wide of the post from a Panpardus cross.

Hardly Athletic 1 C.Holloway og 62

Chelmsford 1 T.Mooney 63

Players: H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, C.Fantu (74-A.Marks), C.de Bruijn, S.Saville, Panpardus, A.Anymoredohnuts (74-F.F.Tikle-Wok), J.Scottlee of Hesselink

Post Match Review: A dominant performance again but we failed to capitalise. However I can’t really complain too much. The Man of the Match Award will be going to Panpardus who controlled the midfield with ease

February 12th: Hardly Athletic v Ebbsfleet: Blue Square Premier (32/46)

An entertaining game for the fans as we shared five goals with Ebbsfleet. On the 12th minute we had our first chance J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired just wide of the post after running onto a great throughball by Panpardus. On the 25th minute the first goal flew in as K.McDonald barged his way through the defence to slide the ball past H.Chaha in goal. However a minute later we grabbed the equaliser as J.Scottlee of Hesselink rose highest to head home a S.Saville cross after some great work down the wing. On the 38th minute we came close again with D.O’Toole firing into the keepers arms when he really should of done better.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made one change during the break with A.Marks coming on for C.de Bruijn. Ten minutes into the half we took the lead as J.Scottlee of Hesselink broke the offside trap to curl the ball past the Ebbsfleet keeper. On the 58th minute though a slack piece of defending by T.Owens saw M.Viera running in to grab the equaliser. Soon after Ebbsfleet had another chance with a rasping effort which saw H.Chaha brilliantly saving at his far post. With thirteen minutes remaining in the game the winning goal was scored as J.Scottlee of Hesselink unselfishly passed the ball across goal for D.O’Toole to slide into the empty net.

Hardly Athletic 3 J.Scottlee of Hesselink 26, 55, D.O’Toole 77

Ebbsfleet 2 K.McDonald 25, M.Viera 58

Players: H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, C.Fantu, C.de Bruijn (45-A.Marks), S.Saville, Panpardus, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink

Post Match Review: A great all round game as we entertained the fans. However one player shone in the game as J.Scottlee of Hesselink played brilliantly to win the Man of the Match Award

Stoehrst your still a game or so away from a return...

February 16th: Histon v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (33/46)

We started well and it wasn’t long till we had our first chance as D.O’Toole ran into the area and fired just wide of the post. On the 14th minute we had another chance as D.O’Toole again showed some skill to beat his Histon marker but he somehow managed to fire wide of the post when he really should of done better. On the 29th minute though we lost our concentration for a split second and N.Knight-Percival. Ten minutes later we should of grabbed the equaliser as T.Owens launched a thunderous long ball up the pitch but J.Scottlee of Hesselink failed to connect with his volley and the ball went well wide.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made three changes at halftime with A.Marks, G.Spavlachenko and G.Burgess came on for S.Carl Goatsburg, S.Saville and H.Chaha. Within a minute of the restart we took the lead as D.O’Toole ran onto a Panpardus throughball pass to slide the ball under the Histon keeper. On the 54th minute Histon were reduced to ten men after L.Oyebanjo was sent off for second yellow card. Eight minutes later they were reduced to nine men as A.Tann also received a second yellow card. On the 68th minute we took full advantage of the numeral difference as A.Marks showed some silky skills to get into the area and fire past the Histon keeper. Histon just sat back for the rest of the game and in truth we never really pressurised them.

Histon 1 N.Knight-Percival 29

Hardly Athletic 2 D.O’Toole 46, A.Marks 68

Players: H.Chaha (45-G.Burgess), B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg (45-G.Spavlachenko), T.Owens, M.Kowalski, C.Fantu, C.de Bruijn, S.Saville (45-A.Marks), Panpardus, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink

Post Match Review: Another confident performance lads. Histon never really caused any sort of problems even before they were reduced to nine men. The game did come at cost as M.Kowalski will miss around 6-8 weeks of action after twisting his ankle jumping for a ball. The Man of the Match Award will be going to D.O’Toole who again worked his socks off during the game

February 26th: Hardly Athletic v Crawley: Blue Square Premier (34/46)

Crawley got off to the better start and on the 16th minute they went into the lead as A.Quinn showed his pace to beat T.Owens to a loose ball, where he then fired past H.Chaha. Six minutes later they had another chance as again my defence let themselves down but H.Chaha saved well with an acrobatic dive across his goal. Just after half hour though we managed to level the scores as D.O’Toole sprinted onto a Panpardus throughball to fire under the Crawley keeper. Our joy didn’t last long though as on the stroke of half time Crawley retook the lead as C.Ademeno headed in from close range after some miscommunication between H.Chaha and C.Fantu.

Half Time Score 1-2

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the second half as A.Marks and F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for S.Saville and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. We started this half a lot better than the previous half and on the 53rd minute we should of grabbed the equaliser as D.O’Toole headed wide of the post from a Panpardus cross. On the 63rd minute we levelled the scores as F.F.Tikle-Wok played a one two with A.Marks and fired past the Crawley keeper. We kept on pressing forward and on the 75th minute we had the chance to take the lead with Panpardus hitting a powerful effort just over the crossbar. With six minutes remaining in the game we conceded the winning goal as J.dos Santos curled the ball round H.Chaha from outside the area.

Hardly Athletic 2 D.O’Toole 34, F.F.Tikle-Wok 63

Crawley 3 A.Quinn 16, C.Ademeno 45, J.dos Santos 84

Players: H.Chaha, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, L.Schnitzel, C.Fantu, C.de Bruijn, S.Saville (45-A.Marks), Panpardus, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink (45-F.F.Tikle-Wok)

Post Match Review: Not the best of games defensively as we seemed to struggle with Crawley’s constant attacks. The Man of the Match Award was a difficult one too choose, as it was between H.Chaha who did well in goals or Panpardus who was a constant menace to the Crawley side. I decided it would go to H.Chaha who saved our bacon on numerous occasions during the game

March 3rd: Kettering v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (35/46)

An excellent start saw us a goal up on the 5th minute as Panpardus fired in a wonderful freekick from just outside the area after D.O’Toole was brought down on the way too goal. Six minutes later we had another chance with J.Scottlee of Hesselink coming close from just inside the area after running onto a S.Stoehr throughball. On the 18th minute though we conceded silly goal as C.de Bruijn’s loose pass was intercepted by D.Spencer who ran through the defence and fired past M.Wilson in goal. On the 32nd minute we had another chance to score with D.O’Toole firing in from close range but his effort was easily saved by the Kettering keeper. Just before the break though Kettering grabbed the lead but before there players had the chance to celebrate the referee ruled it out for offside.

Half Time Score 1-1

The second half was ten minute old when we had our next chance as J.Scottlee of Hesselink headed wide of the post from a Panpardus cross. On the 62nd minute I made a couple of changes as C.Fantu and F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for S.Stoehr and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Soon after the changes Kettering nearly took the lead as M.Wilson’s poor kick out of goal was half volleyed back towards goal by the Kettering attacker but his effort went well over the crossbar. With seven minutes remaining we had the chance to win the game as C.Fantu hit a thunderous effort towards goal which the Kettering keeper fluffed but D.O’Toole didnt react quick enough and he failed to slot the ball home

Kettering 1 D.Spencer 18

Hardly Athletic 1 Panpardus 5

Players: M.Wilson, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, L.Schnitzel, A.Marks, C.de Bruijn, S.Stoehr (62-C.Fantu), Panpardus, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink (62-F.F.Tikle-Wok)

Post Match Review: Another decent performance but we still need to concentrate a lot more than what we area doing. The Man of the Match Award will be going to Panpardus who played an important part in the midfield.

March 8th: Hardly Athletic v Eastbourne Boro: Blue Square Premier (36/46)

We started well enough and on the 12th minute we had the chance to take the lead as D.O’Toole fired towards goal but his effort was easily saved by the Boro keeper. Ten minutes later it was Boro’s turn as they piled forward but there attack was thwarted by a great sliding tackle by S.Carl Goatsburg. On the 36th minute Boro had another chance with a thunderous effort but M.Wilson was quick enough to save the effort.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made a couple of changes to the team at half time as C.Fantu and F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for C.de Bruijn and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. On the 54th minute we had a chance to score as Panpardus crossed into the area for F.F.Tikle-Wok who somehow managed to fluff his header wide of the post. Just after the hour Boro had another chance to score as a great team move saw the attack round the keeper, but S.Carl Goatsburg slid in and cleared the ball off the line. On the 77th minute Boro had another chance with a thunderous effort but the ball was well saved by M.Wilson. We had one last chance in the game as F.F.Tikle-Wok tried an cheeky lob over the Boro keeper but the ball wouldn’t dip enough and the ball landed on the top of the net.

Hardly Athletic 0

Eastbourne Boro 0

Players: M.Wilson, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, L.Schnitzel, A.Marks, C.de Bruijn (45-C.Fantu), S.Stoehr, Panpardus, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink (45-F.F.Tikle-Wok)

Post Match Review: We didn’t do ourselves justice here. Not one of our better performances in truth, hopefully we’ll improve in the next game. The Man of the Match Award will go to S.Carl Goatsburg who kept the Eastbourne defence at bay when they could of over ran us

The recent form is pretty damn poor, Hopefully thinks will improve

March 12th: AFC Wimbledon v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (37/46)

We just never got going at as Wimbledon dominated us with ease. On the 19th minute they took the lead as a loose ball by T.Owens was intercepted by L.Moore who wasted no time in firing the ball past M.Wilson. Eight minutes later they had another chance with some more poor play by my team, however the Wimbledon attack failed to score. Just after the half hour Wimbledon grabbed another goal as L.Moore fired in from close range after barging his way past L.Schnitzel. Just before the break they had another chance but this time M.Wilson saved well to deny them.

Half Time Score 2-0

I made one changes at the start of the half as G.Spavlachenko came on for the less than impressive L.Schnitzel. Ten minutes into the half Wimbledon grabbed another goal as P.Rapson curled the ball past M.Wilson. On the 63rd minute Wimbledon were reduced to ten men as M.Joseph was sent off for a rash challenge on Panpardus. Eight minutes later we again came close to conceding but T.Owens slid in a denied the Wimbledon attack. Despite having the numeral advantage we failed to get anything more from the game

AFC Wimbledon 3 L.Moore 19, 32, P.Rapson 55

Hardly Athletic 0

Players: M.Wilson, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, L.Schnitzel (45-G.Spavlachenko), A.Marks, C.de Bruijn , S.Stoehr, Panpardus, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink

Post Match Review: A p!ss poor performance by the you all. I am far from happy with everyone of you, due to that none of you will be getting the Man of the Match Award

March 19th: Hardly Athletic v Altrincham: Blue Square Premier (38/46)

Altrincham started the better and on the 9th minute they had the first chance of the game with a thunderous effort but S.Carl Goatsburg slid in and cleared the ball. Ten minutes later we had M.Wilson to thank as he saved well from a curling effort. On the 21st minute we grabbed the lead as F.F.Tikle-Wok caught the Altrincham defence nabbing and fired in from close range. Three minutes later we doubled our lead as A.Anymoredohnuts ran onto a Ishu throughball and wasted no time in sliding the ball past the keeper. Just after the half hour Altrincham had there next chance with a great team move which was thwarted by B.Arsenal sliding in and clearing the ball.

Half Time Score 2-0

The second half again saw Altrincham dominating and on the 53rd minute they had another chance with a long range effort which was diverted wide by L.Schnitzel. On the hour I made a change as Panpardus came on for S.Stoehr. However six minutes later I was forced into a change as J.Scottlee of Hesselink was brought on for the injured A.Anymoredohnuts. On the 79th minute we had the referee to thank as he ruled out a goal after L.Schnitzel was fouled in the build up. Just before the end of the game we again came close to losing another goal but T.Owens came to the rescue

Hardly Athletic 2 F.F.Tikle-Wok 21, A.Anymoredohnuts 24

Altrincham 0

Players: M.Wilson, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, L.Schnitzel, M.Samedan, C.de Bruijn , S.Stoehr (60-Panpardus), Ishu, A.Anymoredohnuts (inj 66-J.Scottlee of Hesselink), F.F.Tikle-Wok

Post Match Review: Again we never really turned up for the game as we struggled with everything to do with the game. However there more serious matters as A.Anymoredohnuts will be out of action for two months after spraining his ankle badly during the game. The Man of the Match Award will be going to S.Carl Goatsburg who somehow managed to keep out the Altrincham attackers

April 6th: Hardly Athletic v Barnet: Blue Square Premier (39/46)

We again struggled to get going as Barnet came out the blocks the quicker. On the 2nd minute they had there first chance with a rasping effort but M.Wilson saved well to deny them. Four minutes later they had another chance but T.Owens put his body in the way to block the effort. On the 17th minute they again piled forward but yet again they were denied with a thunderous challenge by T.Owens. Five minutes later though Barnet went into the lead as J.O’Flynn rattled the ball in off the upright after they worked there way into the area. On the 37th minute we finally had our first chance as D.O’Toole fired just wide of the post.

Half Time Score 0-1

During the break I had a few words to say about the first half performance. I also made a couple of changes with C.Fantu and J.Scottlee of Hesselink coming on for Ishu and F.F.Tikle-Wok. We started the half well and on the 48th minute we should of pulled a goal back as J.Scottlee of Hesselink threaded the ball to S.Stoehr who fired past the keeper but the ball bobbled just wide of the post. On the 59th minute we grabbed the equaliser as a long ball over top was brought down by D.O’Toole who then fired it past the Barnet keeper. Six minutes later we had another chance to score as M.Samedan crossed in for J.Scottlee of Hesselink who managed to head it straight at the keeper. Barnet then came close to retaking the lead as a slip by C.de Bruijn saw the Barnet attack pile forward but M.Wilson sprinted out and smothered the ball. On the stroke of full time the game was won as S.Stoehr crossed deep into the area where J.Scottlee of Hesselink was waiting to nod in over the keeper

Post Match Review: A game of two halves as we struggled in the first half and dominated in the second. We just need to be able to do it over the full ninety minutes. The Man of the Match Award will be going to T.Owens as he kept us in the game during the first half

April 9th: Welling v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (40/46)

We again started poorly and on the 18th minute we went a goal down with L.Blackburn showing B.Arsenal a clean pair of heels to sprint into the area and fire past G.Burgess. Nine minutes later Welling had another chance to score with a rasping effort which had G.Burgess struggling to tip round the post . On the 34th minute we finally had our first chance to score as D.O’Toole headed just wide of the post from a S.Stoehr cross. With two minutes remaining in the half we grabbed the equaliser as J.Scottlee of Hesselink volleyed past the Welling keeper from a C.de Bruijn cross.

Half Time Score 1-1

The second half saw the introduction of G.Spavlachenko and Panpardus for B.Arsenal and Ishu. On the 56th minute we had our next chance of the game as Panpardus threaded the ball to the feet of S.Stoehr who fired wide of the post from close range. Just after the hour we made the break through as D.O’Toole played a quick one two with J.Scottlee of Hesselink to fire past the Welling keeper. On the 69th minute we killed the game off as J.Scottlee of Hesselink capped off a good game for himself with his second of the game. Welling just weren’t with it in the second half and on the 87th minute J.Scottlee of Hesselink should of grabbed his hattrick but he fired his effort well over the crossbar after making room for himself in the area.

Welling 1 L.Blackburn 18

Hardly Athletic 3 J.Scottlee of Hesselink 43, 69, D.O’Toole 62

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal (45-G.Spavlachenko), S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, L.Schnitzel, M.Samedan, C.de Bruijn , S.Stoehr, Ishu (45-Panpardus), D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink

This could be my last post for quite awhile as I've got a hectic few days coming up

April 13th: Wrexham v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (41/46)

Our erratic form continued as Wrexham controlled much of the game. On the 9th minute they had the first chance as a slip by T.Owens saw the Wrexham attack one on one with the keeper but G.Burgess saved well. Eight minutes later they had another chance but S.Carl Goatsburg was on hand to block the effort bravely. It was all Wrexham and on the 35th minute they took the lead as M.Wolfenden fired in past G.Burgess as some poor play by the majority of the team saw the Wrexham team break through with easy.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made a couple of changes at the start of the half as C.Fantu and F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for M.Samedan and D.O’Toole. On the 56th minute Wrexham had another chance with a great team move but S.Carl Goatsburg slid in and cleared the ball. We just weren’t performing and on the 78th minute they had yet another chance but this time G.Burgess tipped the ball over the crossbar. With three minutes remaining Wrexham had one more chance but S.Carl Goatsburg and T.Owens sandwiched the attacker and cleared the ball

Wrexham 1 M.Wolfenden 35

Post Match Review: We yet again didn’t perform. We need to be a lot more consistent in our play. The Man of the Match Award will be going to S.Carl Goatsburg who kept the scoreline respectable

April 16th: Hardly Athletic v Mansfield: Blue Square Premier (42/46)

Mansfield began the game well and on the 4th minute they came close to grabbing the lead with a powerful effort which had G.Burgess acrobatically saving. Eight minutes later Mansfield again piled forward but they couldn’t get past T.Owens who stopped the attack with a thunderous tackle. On the 27th minute we had our first effort as S.Stoehr crossed the ball into the area but D.O’Toole headed the ball wide of the post. With a minute remaining in the half we had the chance to take the lead as S.Saville was brought down in the area after a jinking run, A.Marks stepped up for the penalty and fired towards goal but the Mansfield keeper managed to save the ball.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made one change on the stroke of half time as F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Nine minutes into the half Mansfield went into the lead as B.Wake powered past my defence and fired under G.Burgess who was alittle slow to react. I made a change straight after the goal as Panpardus came on for A.Marks. On the 68th minute we had the chance of an equaliser as D.O’Toole knocked the ball to the feet of S.Saville who fired just over the crossbar. We were starting to dominate and on the 77th minute we had another chance with a long range effort by S.Stoehr which went wide of the post. Deep into injury time we finally grabbed the equaliser we deserved as Panpardus curled the ball past the keeper to send our fans wild

Hardly Athletic 1 Panpardus 90+4

Mansfield 1 B.Wake 54

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, L.Schnitzel, A.Marks (54-Panpardus), C.de Bruijn, S.Stoehr, S.Saville, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink (45-F.F.Tikle-Wok)

Post Match Review: We performed pretty well and deserved a point especially after the second half. The Man of the Match Award will be going to T.Owens who played brilliantly to keep the scoreline down in the first half

April 19th: Cambridge v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (43/46)

Straight from kick off we had our first chance as S.Saville sprinted down the wing and crossed the ball to the head of D.O’Toole who managed to head wide of the post. On the 16th minute we had the next chance as D.O’Toole ran onto a C.de Bruijn throughball but his effort was wild and went well wide of the post. Seven minutes later we had yet another chance with D.O’Toole fluffing the chance to open the scoring. On the 37th minute we finally broke the deadlock as J.Scottlee of Hesselink firing in off the crossbar. On the stroke of half time though Cambridge gave us a warning as they broke clear and fired towards goal but G.Burgess saved well.

Half Time Score 0-1

I made one change at the start of the half as C.Fantu came on for S.Stoehr. On the 54th minute we had another chance to score as A.Marks curled the ball into the area but D.O’Toole again headed wide of the post. On the hour we grabbed the second goal as A.Marks jinked into the area and curled the ball past the Cambridge keeper. However on the 73rd minute we let our concentration slip as P.Carden headed in past G.Burgess after the defence failed to deal with a simple cross. Cambridge began to get hold of the ball more but on the 84th minute we killed the game off as S.Saville completed a good game for himself with a thunderous effort past the Cambridge keeper

Cambridge 1 P.Carden 73

Hardly Athletic 3 J.Scottlee of Hesselink 37, A.Marks 60, S.Saville 84

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, A.Marks, C.de Bruijn, S.Stoehr (45-C.Fantu), S.Saville, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink

Post Match Review: Avery good game as we dominated much of the game. All of you did brilliantly and can’t find anything to complain about. The Man of the Match Award will be going to S.Saville who was the dominant player in the team

April 21st: Stevenage v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (44/46)

Again we got off to a good start as on the 13th minute A.Marks crossed a vicious cross into the area which was diverted into the goal by Stevenage’s C.Day. Ten minutes later we had another chance as D.O’Toole headed wide of the post from a S.Saville cross. We were controlling the game and on the 36th minute we had another chance with D.O’Toole firing over the crossbar when it was easier for him to score.

Half Time Score 0-1

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the half as Panpardus and F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for C.de Bruijn and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Eight minutes into the half we grabbed another goal as D.O’Toole fired in a powerful effort from just outside the area to give the Stevenage keeper no chance of saving. We carried on the forward pressure but on the 70th minute we conceded a silly goal as a mix up between G.Burgess and M.Kowalski saw J.Byrom firing in into an empty net. However nine minutes later we killed the game off as D.O’Toole curled the ball past the keeper from the corner of the area.

Stevenage 1 J.Byrom 70

Hardly Athletic 3 C.Day og 13, D.O’Toole 53, 79

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, A.Marks, C.de Bruijn (45-Panpardus) , S.Stoehr, S.Saville, D.O’Toole, J.Scottlee of Hesselink (45-F.F.Tikle-Wok)

Post Match Review: Another great performance as we again controlled a lot of the game, just wish we could of done this for the majority of the season. The Man of the Match Award will be going to D.O’Toole for his two goals and general play

April 23rd: Hardly Athletic v Kidderminster: Blue Square Premier (45/46)

The first half was again controlled by us as we kept the ball away from the Kidderminster side. On the 13th minute we had our first effort as J.Scottlee of Hesselink headed the ball onto the crossbar from a S.Stoehr cross. Nine minutes later Kidderminster had their first chance with a long range effort which was diverted wide by M.Kowalski. On the 26th minute we had our next chance as A.Marks tried his luck from outside the area but the Kidderminster keeper saved well. Just before the break we had one more chance as J.Scottlee of Hesselink rattled the upright after breaking clear of the Kidderminster defence.

Half Time Score 0-0

The second half saw the introduction of C.Fantu and F.F.Tikle-Wok for C.de Bruijn and D.O’Toole. Nine minutes into the half we broke the deadlock as substitute F.F.Tikle-Wok fired in from just inside the area after some woeful defending by the Kidderminster defence. After the goal though Kidderminster’s players started to up the gears and on the 59th minute they came close to grabbing the equaliser with a great team move which was thwarted by a M.Kowalski and T.Owens sandwich. Three minutes later Kidderminster were reduced to ten men after L.Dolman was sent off for a second yellow card. On the 77th minute Kidderminster had their next chance as S.Saville crossed into the area but F.F.Tikle-Wok headed wide of the upright. Just before the final whistle the away team had the chance to grab a point with a powerful effort but G.Burgess saved well.

Hardly Athletic 1 F.F.Tikle-Wok 54

Kidderminster 0

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, S.Carl Goatsburg, T.Owens, M.Kowalski, A.Marks, C.de Bruijn (45-C.Fantu), S.Stoehr, S.Saville, D.O’Toole (45-F.F.Tikle-Wok), J.Scottlee of Hesselink

Post Match Review: A good performance but a few errors are beginning to slip in. We gave Kidderminster too many changes but at the other end we wasted too many chance. The Man of the Match Award will be going to M.Kowalski who saved us on numerous occasions during the game

April 25th: Hereford v Hardly Athletic: Blue Square Premier (46/46)

The final game of the season and we still have a chance of a playoff spot. We must however win and hope other results go our way. We actually seemed to start alittle nervously and on the 11th minute we went a goal down as J.Brown fired in past G.Burgess. Seven minutes later it we nearly conceded again as a long ball over the top wasn’t dealt with but G.Burgess saved well. On the 25th minute we pulled back onto level terms as J.Scottlee of Hesselink jinked through the Hereford defence to slide the ball past the keeper. Just after the half hour Hereford had another chance to score as there attack broke clear but G.Burgess saved well after making himself big.

Half Time Score 1-1

The second half saw me making a triple change with G.Spavlachenko, Panpardus and F.F.Tikle-Wok coming on for S.Carl Goatsburg, C. de Bruijn and D.O’Toole. Six minutes into the half though we went conceded again as P.Younghusband showed his strength too out muscle T.Owens to the ball and fire past G.Burgess Just after the hour though we got back on level terms with D.Jones diverting a wayward effort by F.F.Tikle-Wok past his keeper for an own goal. The joy didn’t last long as on the 68th minute P.Younghusband fired past G.Burgess. It didn’t get any better on the 74th minute as S.Gwynne curled the ball past the unsighted G.Burgess to make it 4-2 to Hereford and dash any chance of a playoff spot for this season.

Hereford 4 J.Brown 11, P.Younghusband 51, 68, S.Gwynne 74

Hardly Athletic 2 J.Scottlee of Hesselink 25, D.Jones og 65

Post Match Review: A disappointing way too end the season but hopefully next season we will bounce back. The Man of the Match Award will be going to G.Burgess who kept the scoreline respectful.

Season Review: 2010/11

Goalkeepers:

Habte Chaha – GK: Apps 16 Goals 0 Conc 29 Ave.Rat 6.66

Did well during the season, however was prone to quite a few errors during games. Hopefully though with more game time next season and a good pre-season you will get rid of these errors. Keep improving and I’ll be a happy manager

George Burgess – GK: Apps 23 (1) Goals 0 Conc 28 Ave.Rat 6.91

Number one keeper throughout the season and will probably be the same next season. Cant really complain for your performance’s throughout the season. You will need to keep up the good standard otherwise you could your place being compromised during next season

Mark Wilson – GK: Apps 12 Goals 0 Conc 14 Ave.Rat 6.75

The back up keeper for the season but has impressed when called upon. Both G.Burgess and H.Chaha will have to keep on there toes otherwise you could see M.Wilson taking your spot.

Defenders:

Terry Owens - SW, DC: Apps 40(4) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.92

Again was solid in defence but this season saw a few alittle errors creeping into your game. You may be one of the best defenders in the team but you need to communicate better with your fellow team members. Just remember TTO there is no I in team.

Supat Carl Goatsburg - D RLC: Apps 38 (3) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.90

Good to see you improving and will hope you continue this throughout next season. I will be looking for you too step up in the absence of T.Owens if he picks up an injury. Your National manager has been looking into getting you into the team but you will need to keep up the good form of this season.

Mike Kowalski - D RLC: Apps 31 Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.88

Played solidly in defence when called upon and never really let the team down. Will need to communicate better when playing with your other defensive team mates. Again keep up the good form into next season and I’ll be a happy gaffer

Luca Schnitzel - D RLC: Apps 24 (2) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.89

Another defender who played well throughout the season but was prone too a few silly errors in vital games. Will be looking for an improvement next season. If you give me a good pre-season you will be guaranteed more play time on the pitch.

Ben Arsenal - D R: Apps 39 Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.81

Played brilliantly during the season and was one of the more consistent performers. Deserved the praise that has been given during the season, however I will be expecting you to up the game a lot more during the next season.

Gavel Spavlachenko - D RL, M L: Apps 32 (5) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.86

Another solid season with some great play during the games. Caused a lot of problems like B.Arsenal down the wings. However you still haven’t found the bloody net. Its that big rectangle thing that the ball needs to go in.

Midfielders:

Chris de Bruijn - WB/AM L: Apps 47(1) Goals 6 Ave.Rat 6.90

Played the majority of games this season and never really let the team down. You got yourself on the score sheet a fair few times. Cant really complain about your performance all I ask for is that you continue to keep this form

Steve Stoehr- DM, M C: Apps 27 (7) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.92

Despite having a few injuries this season you still racked up a good number of game. You performed well during the games you were in. However you only grabbed two goals during the season. P.s Less of the divarish behaviour

Stuart Saville - DM, AM C: Apps 20 (3) Goals 3 Ave.Rat 7.04

Starting too show what a good player you really are. Keep up the good performances and you will be getting more play time. I will be looking for you to perform well during the pre-season. S.Stoehr could have serious competition in the defensive midfield role for next season

Ashley Marks - M RLC: Apps 29 (4) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.79

Another good season with some more solid performances. The only thing that let you down was the goal return. During the pre-season I expect you to improve on your lethal final touch.

Marc Samedan - M R: Apps 12 (1) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.80

You never really impressed me during the season to warrant a permanent place in the team. If you can impress during the pre-season I might give you more of a chance. However you are way down the pecking order. If things don’t improve a place on the transfer list is a definite

Ishu - AM R: Apps 9 (4) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.41

Another one who again failed to live up to his billing. Like M.Samedan I will be looking at you during the season and if things don’t improve you will be guaranteed a place..on the transfer list

Chester Fantu - AM RC: Apps 24 (9) Goals 3 Ave.Rat 6.93

Had a good season but in truth I never really gave you as much playing time as I should of. I will be looking to remedy that next season. Despite this you have been you have been fully capped for your country and this will only better your play. Keep up the hard and patient work and you will be rewarded

Gennaro Bear - AM C: Apps 8 (6) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.84

Never really used as much as I should of, however when you did play you never let the team down. Despite being only a bit part player you never complained about being out of the team unlike some. Also two goals for the few games you played is a reasonable return

Panpardus - AM C: Apps 28 (9) Goals 6 Ave.Rat 6.98

A great season for you as you upped your performances and was rewarded with six goals and plenty of praise by the media and myself. Keep up the good work and you will be getting more play time on the field

Attackers:

Arthur Anymoredohnuts - F C: Apps 17(12) Goals 6 Ave.Rat 6.54

Spent a lot of the season injured but still managed six goals in 29 appearances. Keep yourself fit and I promise you’ll get more time on the field next season.

Fling-Flong Tikle-Wok - F C: Apps 23 (17) Goals 10 Ave.Rat 6.79

A better season as you played the majority of the games. Your goal return was good but not great however your general team play was great. Keep it up and find that lethal touch and I’ll again be a happy manager

Danny O'Toole - F C: Apps 39 (5) Goals 26 Ave.Rat 7.12

A brilliant goal scoring season for yourself. 26 goals in 44 game is a great return. However its not so good for the team as we tend to rely on your goals too much.

James Scottlee of Hesselink – ST: Apps 23 (7) Goals 15 Ave.Rat 6.98

Your finally beginning to show your class and with 15 goals as a return for 30 games proves the point. The only thing I want from you is too keep improving and show me why your beginning to be the second strikers name on the team sheet week in week out

Another solid season with some great play during the games. Caused a lot of problems like B.Arsenal down the wings. However you still haven’t found the bloody net. Its that big rectangle thing that the ball needs to go in.

Oh, the thing with the net draped over it? I think I've been getting it confused with the electronic scoreboard in the corner of the stadium. :D

Great season review, Mark. Looking forward to the new campaign.

Thanks for the postive words, boss. I hope you live up to your promise of playing me more. As a full international I can only warm the bench for so long........

August 6th: Hardly Athletic v Mansfield Town: Blue Square Premier (1/46)

We started off slowly as we struggled to get our passing game going. On the 17th minute I was forced into a change as S.Stoehr pulled up on a run towards goal, I replaced him with Panpardus. Six minutes later we had our first chance as A.Anymoredohnuts sprinted into the area and fired just wide of the post. On the 38th minute Mansfield had their first chance of the game as a long ball over the top wasn’t dealt with by the defence but luckily for them G.Burgess saved well.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made one change to the team at half time as J.Scottlee of Hesselink came on for F.F.Tikle-Wok. Eleven minutes into the half we opened the scoring as A.Anymoredohnuts fired past the Mansfield keeper who was alittle slow to react. On the 65th minute Mansfield had their next chance with a powerful effort which was diverted wide by M.Kowalski. Four minutes later they had another chance but yet again a combination of G.Burgess and M.Kowalski saved the day. Mansfield were controlling much of the game and on the 76th minute we had the referee to thank as he ruled out a goal for offside. Three minutes later I made a final change as C.Fantu came on for C.de Bruijn. Just before the final whistle we had the chance too kill the game off as J.Scottlee of Hesselink ran onto a Panpardus throughball but his effort went wide of the post

Hardly Athletic 1 A.Anymoredohnuts 56

Mansfield Town 0

Players: G.Burgess, B.Arsenal, G.Spavlachenko, M.Kowalski, T.Owens, Ishu, C.de Bruijn (79-C.Fantu), S.Stoehr (inj 17-Panpardus), A.Marks, F.F.Tikle-Wok (45-J.Scottlee of Hesselink), A.Anymoredohnuts

Post Match Review: A good start to the season with three points. However we did struggle with the basics of the game, but maybe that’s down to early season rustiness. The three points did come at a cost as S.Stoehr will be out of action for around four months after tearing his hamstring. The Man of the Match Award will be going to M.Kowalski who controlled the defence well and kept Mansfield out during the second half
