February 18th: Northwich (H) Blue Square Premier (33/46)

We got off to a slow start and on the 15th minute Northwich came close to scoring as they worked there way through our defence but H.Chaha saved well. Six minutes later they had another chance with a thunderous effort which had H.Chaha again saving well. On the 31st minute though we had our first chance as J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired in a superb effort past the Northwich keeper to give us the shock lead. Nine minutes later Northwich had the chance to grab the equaliser but T.Owens blocked the effort.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made one change at the start of the half as Panpardus came on for G.Bear. The second half was a lot better as we started to pull our fingers out and on the 57th minute we went further into the lead as F.F.Tikle-Wok curled the ball into the top corner of the net. Soon after we had another chance as F.F.Tikle-Wok jinked through the defence and fired towards goal but the Northwich keeper managed to save well. On the 75th minute we grabbed another goal as Panpardus hit a powerful effort from 20 yards to give the keeper no chance of saving. With five minutes remaining we added another goal as F.F.Tikle-Wok used his strength to get through the defence and slot under the body of the keeper. To rub salt in the wounds we made it 5-0 as a S.Stoehr cross was diverted past the Northwich keeper by J.Spencer for an own goal

March 3rd: Aldershot (H) Blue Square Premier (34/46)

The first half belonged to us as we dominated from the start and on the 11th minute we had our first chance with F.F.Tikle-Wok firing just wide of the post after running through the defence with ease. Eight minutes later we had another chance to score with F.F.Tikle-Wok again coming close after firing past the keeper but his effort was cleared off the line by the Aldershot defence. On the 34th minute we had yet another chance as G.Bear curled the ball into the area but S.Stoehr couldn’t connect with the ball and it went out.

Half Time Score 0-0

The second half saw the introduction of Panpardus and D.O’Toole in place of C.de Bruijn and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. On the 65th minute Aldershot had the chance to score with a great effort from outside the area but H.Chaha managed to save well. Seven minutes later we had our next chance as D.O’Toole hit the post from the edge of the area. On the 78th minute Aldershot had another chance to score but before their striker had the chance to shoot L.Schnitzel slid in and cleared the ball. With a minute remaining in the game Aldershot grabbed the lead as D.Hylton hit a wonderful effort past H.Chaha who stood no chance of saving. However deep into injury time we grabbed the deserved equaliser as G.Bear curled in the ball from 25 yards to send The Love Shack wild.

Post Match Review:

We really should of killed the game off in the first half as we dominated the first 45 minutes with such ease. We were unlucky not to have won and there’s not too much I can complain about. The Man of the Match Award will be going to S.Stoehr who was quietly dominant in the midfield

March 6th: Wrexham (A)Blue Square Premier (35/46)

We started really well and on the 12th minute we grabbed the lead as J.Scottlee of Hesselink ran into the area unmarked and headed home a C.de Bruijn cross. Eight minutes later we had another chance with D.O’Toole firing just wide of the post when he should of done a lot better. On the 27th minute we went two goals up as C.de Bruijn made space for himself and fried past the Wrexham keeper. With ten minutes remaining in the half Wrexham pulled a goal back as W.Baynes hit the ball past H.Chaha after some poor defending by L.Schnitzel.

Half Time Score 1-2

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the half with Panpardus and A.Anymoredohnuts coming on for A.Marks and D.O’Toole. Twelve minutes into the half we had another chance to score as G.Bear crossed into the area but A.Anymoredohnuts header was well saved by the Wrexham keeper. On the 72nd minute Wrexham grabbed the equaliser as M.Wolfenden rose above the rest of my team to head in a corner after H.Chaha had brilliantly saved an initial effort. Two minutes later though we grabbed the lead back as A.Anymoredohnuts scored from close range after a vicious cross into the area by C.de Bruijn. My joy was short lived as a slip by S.Stoehr saw M.Wolfenden intercept the ball and fire past H.Chaha on the 78th minute. We had one last chance to get all three points on the 89th minute as G.Bear tried his luck from 30 yards after seeing the keeper off his line but unfortunately for us the keeper scrambled back and tipped the ball over the crossbar

Wrexham 3 W.Baynes 35, M.Wolfenden 72, 78

Post Match Review: Silly mistakes cost us again today and it looks like end of season nerves are getting the better of us. We attack as a team and it works but we also need to defend as a team. You are all good enough to do it so go out there and bloody well do it. I was informed by the physio that A.Marks will be out of action for around a month after pulling his hamstring just before the half time interval. The Man of the Match Award will be going toC.de Bruijn who was the star of the show with some great midfield play and got a goal to boot.

We just never got going in the game and on the 11th minute Ebbsfleet had the chance to score as a long ball over the top was volleyed towards goal but G.Burgess saved well. Eight minutes later they had another chance with a rasping effort but G.Burgess was again on hand to block the effort. Its the whole teams fault TTO

March 27th: Dag & Red (A) Blue Square Premier (40/46)

Before the game I was informed that A.Marks has recovered from his recent injury.

The first half started pretty slowly in truth and it took till the 34th minute for us to have the first real effort as D.O’Toole fired towards goal but his effort went wide of the post when he should of done better.

Half Time Score 0-0

During the half time interval I went mad at the players and so did Captain Mike Kowalski. The second half was nine minutes old when I made the first change as F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for J.Scottlee of Hesselink. On the 62nd minute though Dag & Red grabbed the opener as P.Benson beat B.Arsenal to the ball and fired past G.Burgess. However two minutes later we had a clear cut chance to score as F.F.Tikle-Wok was brought down in the area for a penalty, D.O’Toole stepped up and fired home from the spot. On the 75th minute we grabbed another goal as S.Saville sprinted towards goal and hit a thunderous effort from 35 yards past the Dag & Red keeper. Three minutes later we grabbed another goal as F.F.Tikle-Wok ran onto a S.Saville throughball to fire in under the keeper. On the 84th minute Dag & Red were reduced to ten men after A.Ogogo was sent of for a second yellow card . With two minute remaining we had another chance to score as S.Saville tried his luck from outside the area but his effort was tipped round the post by the keeper

Post Match Review: A poor first half but well done to M.Kowalski for rollocking the team at halftime. The second half was a lot better and we in the end fully deserved the three points, Lets keep this up. The Man of the Match Award will be going S.Saville who played a blinder in the second half and scored a peach of a goal

March 31st: Barnet (H) Blue Square Premier (41/46)

We were the better team from the start and on the 4th minute we should of grabbed the lead as D.O’Toole ran onto a Panpardus throughball but his effort went wide of the post. Ten minutes later we had another chance as Ishu crossed In for F.F.Tikle-Wok but his header went wide of the post. On the 29th minute Barnet had the chance to grab a goal as their attack beat my defence but before they had the chance to shoot T.Owens slid in and cleared the call. Nine minutes later we grabbed the lead we deserved as G.Bear fired the ball across the goal and F.F.Tikle-Wok slotted home from close range.

Half Time Score 1-0

The second half was much the same as we continued to press forward and on the 54th minute we should of doubled our lead but D.O’Toole fired just wide of the post when again he should of done better. Eight minutes later we piled forward but before F.F.Tikle-Wok had the chance to shoot the Barnet defence slid in and cleared the ball. We were dominating the game and on the 77th minute C.de Bruijn tried his luck from outside the area but his effort went over the crossbar after deflecting of a defender. Three minutes later I made a change as Panpardus was replaced by S.Saville. With five minutes remaining in the game we grabbed the killer goal as D.O’Toole played a great one two with F.F.Tikle-Wok and fired in off the crossbar

April 1st: The team has been informed that C.de Bruijn has won the Young Player of the Month Award

April 7th: Kidderminster (H) Blue Square Premier (42/46)

We started brilliantly again and on the 8th minute we went into the lead as D.O’Toole ran through the defence with ease and fired past the Kidderminster keeper. Six minutes later we grabbed another goal as G.Bear fired in from close range but his effort was ruled out by the assistant referee for a foul the referee missed. On the 20th minute though Kidderminster fired in the equaliser with the definition of route one football as the Kidderminster keeper punted the ball upfield and D.Knights fired in under G.Burgess. Just after the half hour we grabbed the lead back as D.O’Toole sprinted towards goal and curled the ball round the keeper and into the back of the net. With five minutes remaining in the half we grabbed another goal as C.de Bruijn headed home a Ishu corner after D.O’Toole’s initial effort was tipped round the post.

Half Time Score 3-1

I made one change to the team during the break as S.Saville came on for Panpardus who wasn’t best pleased with coming off. Just before the hour a slip by T.Owens was capitalized upon by N.Hayward who fired past the keeper. However on the 68th minute we regained our two goal advantage as F.F.Tikle-Wok fired in a S.Saville throughball. Eleven minutes later we should of grabbed another goal as G.Bear was brought down in the area by the Kidderminster defence, F.F.Tikle-Wok stepped up for the penalty and fired towards goal but the Kidderminster keeper saved well. We had one last chance as on the 85th minute D.O’Toole hit a thunderous effort towards goal but his effort wouldn’t dip enough and just over the crossbar.

Post Match Review: Well done lads another good performance . Just as a team you need to concentrate in defence a little more. However the result means that we are guaranteed a playoff spot. The Man of the Match Award will be going to D.O’Toole who scored two goals and generally caused problems

April 9th: Gateshead (A) Blue Square Premier (43/46)

Eight minutes into the game we grabbed the lead as Panpardus fired in from outside the area after running through the Gateshead midfield. Nine minutes later we had another chance to score as Panpardus crossed into the area and F.F.Tikle-Wok headed the ball wide of the post. On the 29th minute we had yet another chance as D.O’Toole ran onto a G.Bear throughball and fired towards goals but his effort was well saved by the Gateshead keeper. With three minutes remaining in the half we had yet another chance as Panpardus hit the ball from 20 yards out but his effort rattled the crossbar.

Half Time Score 0-1

We carried on from where we left off and on the 48th minute we came close to grabbing another goal as F.F.Tikle-Wok again came close but his effort was poor and went wide. On the 59th minute I was forced into a change as H.Chaha came on for the injured G.Burgess, I also brought on A.Anymoredohnuts for D.O’Toole. Twelve minutes later we broke clear of the Gateshead defence as Panpardus threaded the ball between the defence and A.Anymoredohnuts fired towards goal but his effort was well saved. Gateshead weren’t getting anything of the ball and with eight minutes remaining in the game we grabbed a further goal as F.F.Tikle-Wok hit home from the edge of the area to give us all three points

Gateshead 0

Hardly Athletic 2 Panpardus 8, F.F.Tikle-Wok 82

Post Match Review: We dominated the game with ease and never gave Gateshead anything of the ball. The performance though came at a cost as G.Burgess will be out of action for around a month after straining his ankle ligaments during the game. The Man of the Match Award will be going to Panpardus who dominated the game with ease.

April 14th: Fleetwood (A) Blue Square Premier (44/46)

We again controlled the majority of the game and on the 12th minute we went into the lead as C.de Bruijn whipped the ball round the keeper from outside the area to silence the Fleetwood crowd. It didn’t much longer after that for us to grab another goal as D.O’Toole barged through the defence to slot home but the referee ruled the goal out for the barge. On the 36th minute we had our next chance as S.Stoehr used his strength to clear the defence but his final effort was pretty weak and it went straight to the keepers arms.

Half Time Score 0-1

The second half was eight minutes old when I made my first change as S.Saville and A.Anymoredohnuts came on for Panpardus and D.O’Toole. On the 68th minute we had another chance for us to score as C.de Bruijn again came close to scoring with what should have been a simple tap in but his effort went just wide of the post. Fleetwood just weren’t good enough and on the 75th minute we should of grabbed another goal but A.Marks long range effort crashed off the crossbar and the keeper smothered the ball. Seven minutes later we grabbed the second goal as F.F.Tikle-Wok ran into the defence to fire home the loose ball after the Fleetwood keeper fumbled at S.Stoehr thunderbolt

Post Match Review: Another good performance by everyone and we really deserved more goals to show for our dominance. The Man of the Match Award will be going to C.de Bruijn who grabbed himself a goal and generally was a pain in the ass for the opposition

April 17th: York (H) Blue Square Premier (45/46)

We got off to a cracking start and on the 7th minute we went into the lead as Panpardus fed the ball to the feet of D.O’Toole who wasted no time in firing past the York keeper. Two minutes later we grabbed another goal as D.O’Toole rose highest to nod home a C.de Bruijn cross. York looked shell shocked and on the 23rd minute we had another chance to score as F.F.Tikle-Wok headed towards goal from close range but the York keeper saved well. Five minutes later we made it 3-0 as D.O’Toole completed his hattrick with a wicked effort from the corner of the area. On the 34th minute it was 4-0 as Panpardus run down the wing, cut in and hit home from a tight angle to beat the York keeper at his near post.

Half Time Score 4-0

The second half saw the introduction of G.Spavlachenko and S.Saville for M.Kowalski and A.Marks. Two minutes into the half York pulled a goal back as G.Spavlachenko didn’t react quick enough to the ball and R.Brodie ran in and fired past M.Wilson. On the 51st minute York pulled another goal back as R.Brodie ran through the defence and fired under M.Wilson. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. York were firing on all cylinders and we just couldn’t cope with them and on the 58th minute they had another chance to score but M.Wilson saved well to deny them the chance of scoring. However on the 64th minute we grabbed our fifth goal as S.Saville hit a thunderous 30 yard effort to give the York keeper no chance of saving. Ten minutes later though York came close to pulling a goal back but again M.Wilson reacted well to deny them. On the 85th minute we had the chance to grab a sixth goal as D.O’Toole failed to finish a great team move.

Post Match Review: A great first half performance as we completely controlled the game but the second half just wasn’t good enough. We need to keep up that sort of play throughout the full ninety minutes. The Man of the Match Award will be going to D.O’Toole after grabbing his first half hattrick. However after the game I was informed that Merthyr have won the Blue Square Premier title after grabbing a last minute winner against Dag & Red

April 21st: Rushden (A) Blue Square Premier (46/46)

Our final game of the League season saw us very lethargic in the way we approached the game. Rushden played the better and on the 19th minute they had the chance to grab the lead but T.Owens blocked the effort. Eight minutes later they had another chance with a great team move but M.Kowalski reacted well and denied the chance of shooting. We finally had our first effort on the 39th minute as D.O’Toole ran onto a S.Stoehr throughball but his effort was easily saved by the Rushden keeper.

Half Time Score 0-0

The second half was much the same as for some reason the players didn’t seem bothered and on the 57th minute Rushden grabbed the lead as S.Smith found space in the area to fire past M.Wilson. Eight minutes later they had another chance as they broke through my defence but T.Owens recovered well and cleared the ball at the feet of the attacker. We weren’t playing at all and on the 81st minute Rushden should of grabbed another goal but M.Wilson smothered the ball at the feet of the attacker.

Post Match Review: Disgusting lads, just because it’s the last League game and we were already guaranteed the playoff spot doesn’t mean you could afford to play like that. You lot need to get back to winning ways for the Play offs. The Man of the Match Award will be going to T.Owens who stopped the scoreline from going silly

May 1st: Barnet (A) Blue Square Premier Playoff Semi Final 1st Leg

Before the game I told the players that we needed to get a decent result in this first leg. We started poorly and on the 1st minute we conceded a silly goal as Barnet broke from kick off and J.O’Flynn hit the ball home past M.Wilson who was very slow to react. Three minutes later though we grabbed the equaliser as J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired in a powerful effort from just inside the area. On the 23rd minute Barnet had another chance to score as we failed to deal with a simple ball but luckily for us M.Wilson reacted well and saved the ball. Just before the break we had our next chance to score as Panpardus tried his luck from distance but his effort was well saved by the keeper.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the half as L.Schnitzel and A.Anymoredohnuts came on for G.Spavlachenko and D.O’Toole. Ten minutes into the half we came close to taking the lead as J.Scottlee of Hesselink headed towards goal from a S.Saville cross but his effort was well saved by the Barnet keeper. On the 66th minute we gifted Barnet the chance of scoring as a poorly timed challenge by M.Kowalski saw them handed a penalty, J.O’Flynn stepped up for the penalty and fired past M.Wilson. Three minutes later Barnet grabbed another goal as L.Medley hit home from the edge of the area to give M.Wilson no chance of saving. On the 85th minute we had the chance to pull a goal back as A.Anymoredohnuts broke clear of the defence but the Barnet keeper reacted well and saved the ball

Post Match Review: Not good enough, just not good enough. We will need a mammoth performance in the second leg to come back. The Man of the Match Award will be going to J.Scottlee of Hesselink just because he scored.

May 6th:Injury news sees the return of G.Burgess after his recent injury, however I’m not sure whether or not he will be playing in the Playoff Semi 2nd Leg tomorrow

May 7th: Barnet (H) Blue Square Premier Playoff Semi Final 2nd Leg (agg 1-3)

With a 3-1 deficit I knew we needed to produce something special. We started well and on the 11th minute we grabbed the first goal as D.O’Toole fired in from close range to make it 3-2 on aggregate. Ten minutes later though Barnet came close to grabbing the equaliser with a great team move but H.Chaha saved well. On the 29th minute we had another chance with S.Saville firing towards goal but his was saved well. With five minutes remaining in the half we conceded a silly goal as S.Manton took full advantage of some poor defending to fire past H.Chaha

Half Time Score 1-1 (agg 2-4)

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the half with Panpardus and F.F.Tikle-Wok coming on for C.Fantu and A.Marks. I also changed the formation to a 4-3-3. Two minutes into the half we grabbed another goal as T.Owens bravely headed in a S.Saville cross to make it 3-4 on aggregate. Twelve minutes later though we gifted Barnet another goal with some poor defending by the whole team that saw J.O’Flynn firing in from close range. It looked like we were going to have spend another season in the Blue Square Premier but with seven minutes remaining in the game we grabbed a goal back on aggregate as D.O’Toole fired in from distance to beat the Barnet keeper. I piled everyone forward in the vain hope of grabbing that important next goal and on the 86th minute we broke clear and F.F.Tikle-Wok fired in the goal that sent the tie into extra time.

End of Ninety Minute 4-2 (agg 5-5)

I made one change to the side with S.Stoehr coming on for J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Extra time flew by with both sets of players looking shattered and with the scoreline still level on aggregate it went down to penalties.

We stepped up first for the penalties and D.O’Toole showed a lethal touch to fire past the Barnet keeper (1-0)

M.Brough stepped up first for Barnet and beat H.Chaha (1-1)

T.Owens stepped up and fired towards goal but his effort screwed wide of the post (1-1)

J.O’Flynn was next up for Barnet and hit towards goal, luckily for us H.Chaha guessed right and saved the ball (1-1)

G.Spavlachenko stepped up next and hit the ball with power towards goal and scored (2-1)

R.O’Neill was up next for Barnet and he wasted no time in firing past H.Chaha (2-2)

S.Saville stepped up and took one step back and hit the ball past the Barnet keeper (3-2)

S.Manton placed the ball on the spot and fired towards goal but H.Chaha saved well (3-2)

B.Arsenal stepped up and hit the ball past the keeper and into the net to send us through to the final (4-2)

Hardly Athletic 4 D.O’Toole 11, 83, T.Owens 47, F.F.Tikle-Wok 86

Post Match Review: We somehow managed to pull it off but for the love of god lads do you have to leave it so late. My heart cant cope with this. Now lets not screw up the final. The Man of the Match Award will be going to D.O’Toole who played brilliantly throughout the game

We have qualified for the Blue Square Premier Playoff Final with a 4-2 penalty victory after drawing 5-5, we will be facing Rushden

May 13th: Rushden (Wembley, London) Blue Square Premier Playoff Final

I didn’t need to do a team talk I let the captain do the talking. We started well and on the 12th minute we should of scored but J.Scottlee of Hesselink failed to get his effort on target and it went wide of the post. Nine minutes later though Rushden had the chance to open the scoring with a well struck effort by L.Tomlin but T.Owens blocked the effort. On the 29th minute Rushden had another chance with L.Tomlin again coming close but H.Chaha saved well. With eight minutes remaining in the half Rushden grabbed the lead as L.Hilliard threaded the ball to the feet of S.Smith who wasted no time in firing past H.Chaha. Virtually straight after the goal Rushden made a change as G.Cox came on for M.Porter. On the 43rd minute we grabbed the equaliser as J.Scottlee of Hesselink ran into the area and fired past D.Roberts in the Rushden goal.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made one change to the team at the start of the half as F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for D.O’Toole. Three minutes into the half the change seemed inspired as F.F.Tikle-Wok ran past C.Hayes to fire under D.Roberts. On the 57th minute though Rushden had the chance to equalise as R.Wolleaston headed towards goal but H.Chaha tipped over the crossbar. Nine minutes later Rushden made a change as W.Gray came on for L.Tomlin. On the 69th minute I made change with S.Stoehr coming on for A.Marks. Seven minutes later Rushden came close to grabbing the equaliser as S.Smith ran into the defence but T.Owens slid in a cleared the ball at the feet of the attacker. With two minutes remaining in the game Rushden made a change as brought on J.Younghusband for C.Osano. Deep into injury time we killed the game off and won promotion as T.Owens headed in a S.Saville cross field pass.

The Man of the Match Award will go T.Owens for his goal and the way he defended and organised the back line when needed
