Season Review: 2011/12

Goalkeepers:

Habte Chaha – GK: Apps 18 (1) Goals 0 Conc 30 Ave.Rat 6.87

Not that happy with the number of errors you have made over the season. Its pretty clear that you might need to move on to get a regular place. All I can say is prove me wrong during the pre-season and I might take you off the transfer list.

George Burgess – GK: Apps 22 Goals 0 Conc 18 Ave.Rat 6.80

Will again be Number one keeper next season. The only real threat you have is Mark Wilson. Your overall performance throughout the season has been great and despite a lower Average rating throughout the season than the other keepers you played better.

Mark Wilson – GK: Apps 15 Goals 0 Conc 9 Ave.Rat 6.90

The clubs new number two keeper and all you need to do is continue to improve and George Burgess will have to keep an eye on his number one spot. Your performances when you played were very good however get rid of the errors and you will get more games

Defenders:

Terry Owens - SW, DC: Apps 47 (1) Goals 9 Ave.Rat 7.19

Very solid in defence and cut out some of those silly errors that crept into your game the previous season. Your communication between you and the rest of the team has vastly improved. TTO is now showing the potential that he has been threatening for the past couple of seasons. A return of nine goals for the season is brilliant for a defender. Keep this Up!!! And you could potential be grabbing the Captains armband

Supat Carl Goatsburg - D RLC: Apps 30 (2) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 7.07

Played less than any other defender in the team, but that isn’t a reflection on your performance in fact its because of how your playing. Due to your consistent performances you have been playing regular for your National team. You didn’t score this season but I’m not going to hold it against you

Mike Kowalski - D RLC: Apps 38 (3) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 7.14

The club Captain and deserve all the recognition your getting. When playing alongside T.Owens you work well but when not with him you seem to try and do everything yourself. If you have a problem with not playing you need to speak to me personally and not so everyone else can see. Lead by example. All I ask is to be more vocal with the rest of the team when the chips are down. Apart from that Keep up your hard work

Luca Schnitzel - D RLC: Apps 37 (4) Goals 2 Ave.Rat 6.93

There’s still too many errors in your game. The worst of which is conceding bloody penalties. Your overall performances have been excellent I just need you to stay of your feet alittle more. I will be looking for an improvement from you in the forthcoming season.

Ben Arsenal - D R: Apps 33 (3) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.85

Overall I’m happy with your performances throughout the season. The only complaint I’ve got is that you haven’t really upped your game from last season. Please address this for the forthcoming season

Gavel Spavlachenko - D RL, M L: Apps 35 (1) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.94

Did pretty much the same as last season with you causing no end of problems down the wing. However I’m wondering if you know what the goal looks like, its that thing that you keep scoring in at the wrong end. Like with Ben Arsenal you need to up your game for the next season

Midfielders:

Chris de Bruijn - WB/AM L: Apps 43 (2) Goals 5 Ave.Rat 7.06

Improved on last season however one less goal, but that’s me being picky. Your doing everything I ask by upping your game. Keep it up mate and I’ll be a very happy Gaffer

Steve Stoehr- DM, M C: Apps 23 (2) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 7.00

Like last season you have been very prone to injuries and spent more time in the physio room than on the pitch. Despite not playing much you still performed well and with a run of games that’s not stopped by injury I can see you only getting better. What’s even better is your divarish behaviour has improved as you have concentrated more on football

Stuart Saville - DM, AM C: Apps 23 (4) Goals 7 Ave.Rat 7.28

Mr Saville, Well done sir you have stepped up to the mark and performed brilliantly. In my opinion the Player of the Season but we’ll see what the say. Seven goals throughout the season is a good return for you. Keep this up mate I’ll keep playing you. Well Done

Ashley Marks - M RLC: Apps 21 (6) Goals 3 Ave.Rat 7.00

Mr Vice Captain. You again played well throughout the season and cant really make any complaints. However as the Vice Captain I need you as I said to Mike Kowalski you need to be a lot more vocal to the team when things are going tits up

Marc Samedan - M R: Apps 18 (2) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.83

Like last season you never really impressed enough to give me the urge to pick you. I will be looking to off load you as soon as another club comes in for you. However if you can prove me wrong I might change my mind

Ishu - AM R: Apps 21 (7) Goals 0 Ave.Rat 6.74

You played a lot more than last season and did improve alittle but not enough to excite me or the fans. I may have to look at seeing what money I can earn from selling you. You have had a few season to prove me wrong and have failed to do so.

Chester Fantu - AM RC: Apps 23 (3) Goals 5 Ave.Rat 7.17

Massive improvement from last season and would of played a lot more games if it wasn’t for International duties. You would be first choice for the majority of the time but for this. However I cant find fault with your game. Keep improving and I will be very happy Well done Sir

Gennaro Bear - AM C: Apps 22 (4) Goals 1 Ave.Rat 6.84

Gave you a lot more time playing as I promised last season and you didn’t let me down. The only thing I need from you is to score a few more goals as one goal in the season isn’t good enough for me.

Panpardus - AM C: Apps 26 (11) Goals 4 Ave.Rat 7.07

Did very well again throughout the season and cant complain about anything. You never let the team down when you played and will look for more of the same next season

Attackers:

Arthur Anymoredohnuts - F C: Apps 20 (18) Goals 9 Ave.Rat 6.74

A very inconsistent season as sometimes you played brilliantly and other times it was as though you weren’t bothered. I need you to sort this out for next season.

Fling-Flong Tikle-Wok - F C: Apps 24 (15) Goals 20 Ave.Rat 7.07

Brilliant season from you this year and I am finding it very hard to keep you out the team. Even when you come on from the bench you perfo4rm brilliantly. Twenty goals in thirty nine appearances is a great return. You must continue to improve like this.

Danny O'Toole - F C: Apps 39 (4) Goals 40 Ave.Rat 7.37

Another brilliant season as you nearly got a goal a game. You are becoming abit of a goal scoring legend for the club and I just need you to carry on. Well done

James Scottlee of Hesselink – ST: Apps 27 (7) Goals 20 Ave.Rat 7.15

Another great season for you as you have carried on from the previous season. Your making it very hard for me to choose who to put up front with D.O’Toole. Keep this up mate

August 11th: Bournemouth (A) Coca Cola League Two (1/46)

Welcome to League football, that’s all that can be said. Bournemouth taught us a real lesson in League football today as we struggled to get the ball. On the 14th minute Bournemouth broke clear of our defence with ease but M.Wilson blocked well and S.Carl Goatsburg managed to clear the loose ball. Ten minutes later they had another chance but yet again S.Carl Goatsburg was on hand to block the effort. On the 29th minute we finally had our first chance as D.O’Toole ran onto a S.Stoehr throughball but his effort was poor and the Bournemouth keeper saved well. Just before the break we again failed to deal with an easy ball but M.Wilson was on hand to block the effort.

Half Time Score 0-0

The second half was seven minutes old when Bournemouth finally broke clear of the defence and D.Hollands fired past the helpless M.Wilson. On the 58th minute I made a couple of changes with S.Saville and A.Anymoredohnuts coming on for A.Marks and F.F.Tikle-Wok. Two minutes later S.Saville got himself on the score sheets as he diverted a vicious cross into his own net for a silly own goal. Bournemouth were controlling the game and on the 77th minute added their third and final goal with B.Savage firing towards goal and M.Wilson fluffed the easy save to see the ball dribble into the back of the net.

Post Match Review: We were taught a real lesson as we struggled to get hold of the ball. However lads its the first game of the season and lets learn from this. The Man of the Match Award was going to be decided between two players but because of his error for the final goal I have decided to give S.Carl Goatsburg the award for the way he kept us in the game in the first half

C'mon guys, we're better than this. We've risen through the divisions quickly over the last couple of seasons but that just serves to show how good we are. Let's make sure that even if we can't continue the streak of promotions that we don't spend all season fighting relegation.

TTO is doing a fine job at the Olympics and the boys are missing you, but fine words by Captain M.Kowalski

August 22nd: Nottingham Forest (H) League Cup 1st Round

We began pretty well and on the 12th minute we came close to grabbing the lead as F.F.Tikle-Wok fired the ball with power towards goal but the Forest keeper saved well. Eight minutes later we had another chance with A.Marks curling the ball into the area but D.O’Toole fluffed his header and the ball went over the crossbar. On the 29th minute Forest came close to breaking the dead lock as they broke through the defence but G.Burgess saved well to deny them. With nine minutes remaining in the half we came close to grabbing the lead as C.de Bruijn beat his marker and fired towards goal but again the Forest keeper saved well.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made a couple of changes to the team at half time with L.Schnitzel and A.Anymoredohnuts coming on for M.Kowalski and D.O’Toole. Nine minutes into the half we had another chance to score as A.Anymoredohnuts ran onto a C.de Bruijn throughball to fire towards goal but yet again the Forest keeper denied us the goal. On the 69th minute Forest had their next chance to score but the long range effort was well saved by G.Burgess. Eight minutes later though Forest grabbed the lead as J.Garner headed past G.Burgess. With five minutes remaining in the game we should of grabbed the equaliser but F.F.Tikle-Wok failed to connect his head on a C.de Bruijn cross.

Post Match Review: Lads you all performed well and we deserved a lot more than what we got. Its obvious that you lads listened to your Captains words. Then game though came at a cost after M.Kowalski will miss at least a weeks worth of action after picking up slight concussion. The Man of the Match Award will be going to C. de Bruijn who played brilliantly down the wing

August 29th: Oldham (H) Coca Cola League Two (2/46)

We started the game well as we kept the ball away from the opposition. On the 18th minute we had our first chance as J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired towards goal but the Oldham keeper managed to tip the ball over the crossbar. Eight minutes later we had another chance as C.Fantu came close to opening the scoring with a rasping effort from just outside the area but yet again the Oldham keeper saved well. We were controlling the game with ease and on the 43rd minute we should of grabbed another goal but J.Scottlee of Hesselink failed to score from the spot after D.O’Toole was brought down in the area.

Half Time Score 0-0

At the start of the half I made a couple of changes with S.Saville and A.Anymoredohnuts coming on for A.Marks and D.O’Toole. Three minutes into the half we grabbed the lead as S.Stoehr showed great vision to curl the ball into the top corner of the goal from outside the area. On the 57th minute we grabbed another goal as J.Scottlee of Hesselink ran onto a C.Fantu throughball to fire under the body of the Oldham keeper. It was getting too easy and on the 65th minute we went three goals up as C.Fantu curled the ball in from 25 yards after A.Anymoredohnuts was brought down on the way to goal. Nine minutes later we had another chance with S.Saville firing towards goal but his effort was well saved by the Oldham keeper. With three minutes remaining in the half we had a clear cut chance to score after C.Fantu was brought down in the area for a penalty, J.Scottlee of Hesselink stepped up for the penalty and fired towards gaol but yet again the Oldham keeper denied him from the spot.

Hardly Athletic 3 S.Stoehr 48, J.Scottlee of Hesselink 57, C.Fantu 65

Glad to be back in a winning eleven. I take it the Olympics did not go so well and TTO did not meet a luxuriously beautiful and wealthy female dressage competitor at the Olympics? :D

I would assume not so unfortunately you are back to partnering the luxuriosly beautiful but decidedly poor Mike Kowalski in the centre of the Hardly defence. You wouldn't have it any other way!

September 1st: Wycombe (A) Coca Cola League Two (3/46)

We again started well and on the 9th minute we had our first chance as S.Stoehr fired towards goal but his effort was brilliantly saved by the Wycombe keeper. Ten minutes later we should of grabbed the lead with D.O’Toole heading towards goal from an A.Marks cross but his effort went just over the crossbar. On the 24th minute we grabbed the lead as A.Marks jinked through the Wycombe defence with ease and slotted in under the Wycombe body. However ten minutes later we let ourselves down as some poor defending by S.Carl Goatsburg slipped and H.Dean fired in past G.Burgess. On the 42nd minute Wycombe should of grabbed the lead from the penalty spot after S.Carl Goatsburg brought down an attacker in the area, however G.Burgess guessed the right way and saved the penalty.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made a couple of changes in the half time interval as Ishu and A.Anymoredohnuts came on for C.de Bruijn and D.O’Toole. The second half was seven minutes old when we had our next chance to score as C.Fantu crossed into the area but S.Stoehr didn’t rise high enough to nod the ball towards goal. On the 67th minute Wycombe had their next chance as a great team move saw their attacker one on one with G.Burgess but he bravely smothered at the feet of the attacker. Twelve minutes later we should of grabbed the lead as J.Scottlee of Hesselink rounded the keeper but the Wycombe defence got back and cleared off the line. With three minutes remaining though we conceded the winner as M.Swaibu fired in a thunderous effort from outside the area to give G.Burgess no chance of saving.

Wycombe 2 H.Dean 34, M.Swaibu 87

Post Match Review: We didn’t deserve to lose this game, however this is step up in class we need to take. We must make sure that we finish off these great attacking moves we are making. Not only did we lose the game we lost G.Spavlachenko for around a fortnight after receiving a gashed leg late in the game. The Man of the Match Award will be going to G.Burgess who produced quite a few good saves to save the day.

September 3rd: Injury news sees F.F.Tikle-Wok out of action for around 5-6 weeks after spraining his ankle in training

September 7th: International news sees C.Fantu play for Armenia U21’s in their 2-1 victory over Latvia in the Euro U21 qualifier, he played the full match and earnt a rating of 6.1

Its a long season Pan, your time will come

September 8th: Carlisle (H) Coca Cola League Two(4/46)

Before the game I was informed that we have been drawn against League Two side Chesterfield in the Johnstones Paint Trophy 2nd Round North draw.

We got off to a great start as on the 2nd minute A.Marks sprinted through the defence with ease and fired past the Carlisle keeper. Six minutes later we had another chance as A.Marks curled the ball into the area but D.O’Toole fluffed his header and the ball went wide of the post. However on the 27th minute we conceded a silly goal as M.Samedan slid in on the Carlisle attacker just outside the box, from the resulting freekick D.Liversey fired in past G.Burgess. With nine minutes remaining in the half we grabbed another goal as S.Saville threaded the ball to D.O’Toole to fire under the keeper, however before he had the chance to celebrate the referees assistant ruled it out for offside.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the half with L.Schnitzel and A.Anymoredohnuts for C.de Bruijn and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. Ten minutes into the half we grabbed another goal as D.O’Toole rose highest to nod home an A.Marks cross. On the 64th minute we had another chance as a long ball by S.Stoehr saw D.O’Toole firing just wide of the post. Six minutes later we had yet another chance with A.Marks coming close from outside the area. On the 72nd minute we grabbed the killer goal as A.Anymoredohnuts fired in from outside the area. On the stroke of full time I was forced into a change as G.Bear came on for the injured A.Anymoredohnuts.

Post Match Review: Avery good performance lads in which we controlled the majority of the game. However the game came at a cost as A.Anymoredohnuts will be out of action for around 6-7 weeks with fractured ribs. The Man of the Match Award will be going to A.Marks who was brilliant in the midfield

International news sees S.Carl Goatsburg play the full ninety minutes in their 0-2 loss against Japan in the World Cup Qualifier, he earnt a rating of 5.7

September 12th: Oxford (A) Coca Cola League Two (5/46)

The game started slowly and it took till the 27th minute for the first effort as D.O’Toole ran through the Oxford defence to fire towards goal but his effort was easily saved by the Oxford keeper. Seven minutes later though Oxford grabbed the lead as J.Constable beat M.Kowalski to the ball and fired under G.Burgess. On the stroke of half time though we had our next chance as S.Stoehr threaded a perfect ball to the feet of J.Scottlee of Hesselink but his effort was tipped round the post.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made one change to the team at the start of the half as Panpardus came on for S.Saville who was having a pretty quiet game. On the 53rd minute we had our next chance to score as A.Marks crossed the ball into the area but J.Scottlee of Hesselink failed to connect his head onto the ball. Nine minutes later Oxford had their chance to score with a great team move but T.Owens slid in and cleared the ball. On the 78th minute Oxford again came close as they piled through my defence with far too much ease but luckily for us the effort was pretty poor and the ball went wide of the post. With six minutes remaining in the game we grabbed a deserved equaliser as S.Stoehr beat his marker with such ease and fired past the Oxford keeper. However we let ourselves down as on the 86th minute J.Constable hit a wonderful effort past G.Burgess after making himself free on the edge of the area

Oxford 2 J.Constable 34, 86

Post Match Review: A good performance and we really deserved something from the game. However we must make sure that we keep playing for the full ninety minutes. We have stepped up in the Leagues and must make sure we step up aswell. The Man of the Match Award will be going to S.Stoehr who was magnificent in the midfield

September 13th: Injury news sees G.Spavlachenko resume full training after his recent injury

September 15th: Merthyr (A) Coca Cola League Two (6/46)

It was Merthyr who started the better and on the 11th minute they went into the lead as A.Rush out sprinted T.Owens to the ball and fired under H.Chaha. Ten minutes later though we had our first effort as D.O’Toole sprinted onto a L.Schnitzel cross but his effort went wide of the post when he should of done a lot better. On the half hour though Merthyr had another chance with a thunderous effort which had L.Schnitzel putting body in the way to block the effort. With three minutes remaining in the half we had another chance as S.Saville hit a powerful effort towards goal but the Merthyr keeper saved well.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made one change to the team at half time as C.Fantu came on for S.Stoehr. Six minutes into the half we had the chance of an equaliser as J.Scottlee of Hesselink fired towards goal but again the Merthyr keeper saved well. On the 63rd minute C.Fantu should of grabbed us a goal as he broke clear of the defence but he fluffed his effort in front of goal. With eleven minutes remaining in the game we finally grabbed the equaliser as L.Schnitzel crossed into the area and J.Scottlee of Hesselink headed in past the keeper. On the 87th minute we had the chance to grab the winner as D.O’Toole was brought down in the area for a penalty, D.O’Toole stepped up and fired towards the goal but the Merthyr keeper guessed right and saved the effort

Post Match Review: A very good performance again and in truth we deserved more. However the game came at a cost as we have lost T.Owens for around 3-4 weeks after suffering a pulled hamstring early in the game, we have also lost A.Marks for around a fortnight after receiving a gashed leg. The Man of the Match Award will be going to L.Schnitzel as he dominated down the wings and gave the Merthyr defence no end of problems

September 19th: Grimsby (H) Coca Cola League Two (7/46)

We got off to an unfortunate start as on the 12th minute we went a goal down as B.Arsenal diverted in a Grimsby cross past H.Chaha Eight minutes later we went a further goal down as B.Arsenal again was at fault as he slipped with the ball and L.Daley fired under H.Chaha. On the 24th minute we had our first real chance as a cross by C.Fantu was headed just wide of the post by D.O’Toole. Seven minutes later Grimsby came close to furthering their lead with a great team move which saw their attacker one on one with H.Chaha who reacted well and saved well. With a minute remaining in the half we grabbed a goal back as C.Fantu hit home from the edge of the area.

Half Time Score 1-2

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the half as G.Spavlachenko and Panpardus came on for M.Kowalski and C.de Bruijn. Twelve minutes into the half we grabbed the equaliser as Panpardus jinked through the defence with such ease and fired past the Grimsby keeper. On the 69th minute we had another chance to score as J.Scottlee of Hesselink ran onto a Panpardus throughball to fire past the Grimsby keeper but the ball bobbled agonizingly past the upright. We continued to press forward and on the 85th minute we grabbed the winner as D.O’Toole hit an unstoppable effort past the Grimsby keeper.

Post Match Review: A very rocky start wasn’t good enough however we recovered well which I’m well happy about. We in the end deserved to get all three points. Injury news at the end saw us losing G.Spavlachenko from around a week after bruising his ribs during the game. The Man of the Match Award will be going to C.Fantu who played really well throughout the game

September 22nd: Lincoln (H) Coca Cola League Two (8/46)

We never got started in this game and on the 8th minute Lincoln should of grabbed the lead but a great block by B.Arsenal denied them. Six minutes later they had another chance to score with a great team move but M.Kowalski slid in and cleared the ball. We weren’t really performing and on the 29th minute Lincoln had another chance to score with a powerful effort but H.Chaha saved brilliantly. With seven minutes remaining in the half a rash challenge by S.Carl Goatsburg saw Lincoln awarded a penalty, J.Smith stepped up and fired towards goal and despite H.Chaha’s best effort he couldn’t stop the ball flying into the net.

Half Time Score 0-1

I made one change to the team as Panpardus came on for G.Bear who was having a stinker like virtually all the players. Five minutes into the half we conceded a sloppy goal again as L.Schnitzel and B.Arsenal collided with each other and S.Zaaboub capitalised with a thunderous effort past H.Chaha. I was getting really frustrated with the way we were playing and on the 76th minute Lincoln came close to grabbing another goal but M.Kowalski denied them with a superb last ditch challenge to deny them

Hardly Athletic 0

Post Match Review: Not good at all and a 2-0 loss really flattered us. If it wasn’t for one man it would have been a lot worse and that’s why M.Kowalski has been awarded the Man of the Match Award M.Kowalski

September 29th: Torquay (A) Coca Cola League Two (9/46)

Six minutes into the game we went a goal down as T.Amos broke into the area and fired past H.Chaha with ease. On the 13th minute Torquay had another chance with a thunderous effort which went just over the crossbar. Five minutes later we went two goals down as S.Thompson struck a great effort into the top corner past H.Chaha who was helpless to stop it. On the 19th minute it was 3-0 as R.Purdie easily beat the defence to slide the ball under the keeper. It was becoming embarrassing as Torquay never gave us a sniff of the ball and on the 31st minute we went a further goal as R.Purdie grabbed his second of the game with a simple tap in after the whole team defended poorly. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and with a minute remaining in the half we conceded another goal as T.Amos curled the ball round the outstretched arms of H.Chaha.

Half Time Score 5-0

I made a couple of changes to the team at the start of the half with S.Saville and M.Samedan coming on for C.Fantu and G.Bear. A minute into the half we grabbed a goal back as J.Scottlee of Hesselink firing in from outside the area, but there was no celebrating. After the goal Torquay continued to dominate and on the 67th minute they came close again with a rasping effort but B.Arsenal managed to divert the ball wide of the post. Ten minutes later Torquay grabbed another goal as S.Thompson hit a great ball in off the upright after the defence again went AWOL. I just couldn’t bare to watch anymore and on the 85th minute a rash challenge by C.de Bruijn saw Torquay awarded a penalty, but luckily for us the penalty wasn’t great and it went well wide of the post.

Torquay 6 T.Amos 6, 44, S.Thompson 18, 77, R.Purdie 19,31

Post Match Review: Disgusting is pretty much all I can say about that performance. We just cant perform like that again and you will all be in tomorrow for some intensive training. However one player will not be attending training as Captain M.Kowalski will be missing from action for around a month after pulling his hamstring during the match. There will be no Man of the Match Award today as none of you deserve it

Surely if I don't start in the next game, something is wrong?

I've been great in my two second half starts, surprised I didn't start after near single handedly winning the game for us in my season opener.

Don't make me pull a Tevez!

October 2nd: Morecombe (H) Coca Cola League Two (10/46)

After the trouncing of the previous game I told the players to go out and shut the critics up. We did start well and on the 15th minute we had our first chance as J.Scottlee of Hesselink sprinted into the area and fired towards goal but the Morecombe keeper saved brilliantly. Six minutes later we were gifted the chance to open the scoring as D.O’Toole was brought down in the area, D.O’Toole stepped up for the kick and fired past the Morecombe keeper to send the home crowd wild. On the 34th minute Morecombe came close to grabbing the equaliser with a great effort which had M.Wilson at full stretch to save.

Half Time Score 1-0

The second half was much the same as we outplayed the Morecombe side and on the 56th minute we went further into the lead as J.Scottlee of Hesselink barged through the defence with ease and fired past the keeper. Seven minutes later I made a change as S.Stoehr came on for Panpardus. On the 67th minute we had another chance to score as J.Scottlee of Hesselink made room for himself and fired past the keeper but before he had the chance to celebrate the referee ruled it out for a foul on the build up. With nine minutes remaining in the game we had one last chance to score with J.Scottlee of Hesselink coming close with a thunderous effort which rattled off the crossbar.

Post Match Review: A great reply to the previous game, we performed a lot better and kept Morecombe at bay. Well done lads. The Man of the Match Award will be going to J.Scottlee of Hesselink for his constant trouble making in the Morecombe defence

October 6th: Cheltenham (A) Coca Cola League Two (11/46)

We got off to a poor start as Cheltenham grabbed the lead with O.Hutchkiss heading in past M.Wilson. However nine minutes later we grabbed the equaliser as Panpardus ran down the centre of the pitch and fired in a thunderous 25 yarder past the outstretched arms of the Cheltenham keeper. Our joy didn’t last long though as on the 13th minute Cheltenham s K.Sheppard headed in past M.Wilson again. Eight minutes later we should of grabbed the equaliser as Panpardus threaded the ball to the feet of D.O’Toole but he somehow managed to fire the ball wide of the post. With nine minutes remaining in the half Cheltenham had the chance to add a further goal with a powerful effort towards goal but G.Spavlachenko managed to divert the ball wide of the post.

Half Time Score 2-1

I made a couple of changes to the team with S.Stoehr and A.Marks coming on for C.de Bruijn and G.Bear. Eight minutes into the half we had our next chance to score as S.Stoehr crossed in for Panpardus but his header was poor and it went wide of the post. On the 67th minute Cheltenham had their next chance to score as they piled into the defence but M.Wilson saved well to deny them. With twelve minutes remaining in the game we had the chance to grab the equaliser as Panpardus was brought down in the area for a penalty, J.Scottlee of Hesselink stepped up for the penalty and fired towards goal but the Cheltenham keeper guessed right and saved the penalty

Post Match Review: We really deserved more than this. You all deserved something from this. However lads that’s the difference between this League and the Leagues we’ve been playing in. The Man of the Match Award will be going to Panpardus who ran the show midfield

October 9th: Chesterfield (H) Johnstones Paint Trophy 2nd Round North

We could now have a break from the League as we faced Chesterfield in the Johnstones Paint Trophy. On the 18th minute we had the first chance of the game as S.Stoehr crossed into the area for D.O’Toole to head just wide of the post. Eight minutes later we had another chance to score as G.Spavlachenko ran in from the wing and fired towards the goal but his effort was well saved by the Chesterfield keeper. On the 27th minute we went into the lead as a Panpardus throughball was fired in past the Chesterfield keeper by D.O’Toole. Nine minutes later though we conceded as Dionisio ran through the defence with ease and rounded M.Wilson to fire under the body of M.Wilson. On the stroke of half time we had the chance to retake the lead as A.Marks tried a powerful effort from outside the area but his effort was diverted wide by the defence.

Half Time Score 1-1

The second half saw us continue to control the game and on the 56th minute we had the chance to grab the lead back as S.Stoehr rattled the upright from the corner of the area. Four minutes later I made a couple of changes as S.Saville and F.F.Tikle-Wok came on for Panpardus and J.Scottlee of Hesselink. On the 75th minute we had our next chance to score as D.O’Toole played a quick one two with F.F.Tikle-Wok to fire towards goal but the Chesterfield keeper saved well. With six minutes remaining in the game we grabbed the winning goal as D.O’Toole showed great vision to curl the ball into the top corner of the goal to send us through to the next round
