Hemel 1 - 1 Edgware Edgware 3 - 3 Hemel (4-3 pen win to Edgware AET) Given Edgware are literally my most local team I am ever going to have on this game, I dont appreciate being beaten on penalties by them. joshpmilton Posted November 24, 2007 Share Posted November 24, 2007 Maidstone United - Blue Square South - 2009/10 - End of Season Review So, having started with nothing and survived a takeover, I was delighted to end up finishing 7th in the league. What was most pleasing though, was the fantastic end to the season, where we went on quite a run, and was only denied a play-off spot by results going against us on the last, despite a 5-1 win away for the Stones. We spent most of the season hovering in mid-table anonymity, as can be seen here. Signed almost anyone that the Ass. Man rated better than a 'good signing' who was interested, which meant there were a lot of signings, which couldn't really be helped. However, it was the loans nearer the end of the season having boosted the clubs reputation that ultimately shot us up the table. To be honest with the squad at our disposal I'm delighted we managed to finish as highly as we did, and was really anticipating relegation at the start. Key player(s) for Maidstone this season were the three strikers I managed to pick up on loan: Scott Wagstaff (Charlton Athletic), Fredik Ljungstrom (Southend United) & Fred Sears (West Ham United). All contributed massively, being able to bring on one for another when a goal was needed was a key part of the late run. Confidence in my (profile) ability is high, having reached all but one of the targets I was set, only missing out on progressing in the FA Cup. Despite the lack of cup runs, our finances weren't too badly affected and the clubs coffers look quite respectable for a former Ryman Premier outfit. No improvements were made this season, as can be seen on the club information page. As expected for a team with no prior matches played, club records were broken. Manager Information. Fixtures: Part 1 | Part 2. Next season I'm expected to avoid relegation. Personally I'm aiming for the play-offs, and hopefully higher. On top of that I'm hoping to reach the FA Cup 1st Round, although breaking the clubs record of making the 4th Qualifying round will do. Come on the Stones! Radon Posted November 24, 2007 Share Posted November 24, 2007 Whitby Town - Blue Square Premier - 09/10 - Pre-Season Report and Season Preview After another poor pre-season results-wise (although matches against bigger teams were organised as cash-cows), featuring only one win, Whitby Town begin their assault on the first tier below league football. Transfers from manager Matt Hornby this season have been promising, including a few players from Premiership youth ranks who are promising, as well as getting rid of some of the riff-raff signed last season when we were playerless. Whitby have, at time of getting screenshots, already played two matches, a loss and a draw, and have followed those up with another loss. It looks like we'll be aiming for consolidation this season. Elito Snow And my best player once AGAIN (3rd season in a row) Arthur Team Screen Pretty green eeh ?: Confidence Finances Information And beside the triumph in the league i won the setanta shield cup as well ( look a couple of post up) Finally league footy for me I will be looking to strengthening my defence as i think thats where im weakest.. although i only conceded very little this year. Just started the league matches, and although promotion is clearly a long way off this season, the signs are promising for sustained BSS football! Pre Season: I signed 21 free players to give me a healthy squad of 28, a lot of youngsters but a couple of old guards to help steady my potentially sinking ship. Pre season I failed to record a win, but it wasn't all doom and gloom. For the first two, please inspect the shots/shots on target stats, for the 3rd, feel free to ignore it! Pre Season Game 1 was at home to St Albans, an intriguing test first up. Despite the resulting loss, the score only told half the story, statistically I should have pumped them... Clicky Next up was Hucknall, again same story, a loss, but again, shots wise I was ahead. Whats the missing ingredient? Do my players need time to gel? Clicky 3rd friendly was vs Birmingham Reserves, no excuses they thrashed me, too quick and the strikers just left my defenders dazed and confused. Thrashed! Finally, I arranged a friendly vs my reserves, so I could try out what I thought my first team was vs youth players id signed and trialists I was still unsure over. It proved to be key as my reserve 16 yo striker scored a hat trick and proved he deserved a place in my first team squad, and they beat me on pens! Humbled! Now my first 3 league games, up first I got taught a lesson on the road against mid table hopefuls.. Welling 4 -0 Mangotsfield. Although I lost by 4, 48% and 8(3) shots was an ok return. The sending off of my captain was a bad note though, I warned him and he accepted. Next up, St Albans, the very team who beat me in my first friendly match. They raced to a 2-0 lead and I thought here we go... But thanks to a great effort, we managed to... Well... click and you'll see! Even had the luxury of a missed pen! Then next up against Thurrock, welcoming back my captain, we sunk to an admirable 3-2 loss. Click Sadly my captain was sent off again, 2 games, 4 yellows... This time I fined him and some team mates have complained, so I could have a mini up rising on my hands. Tactically i dont think im being aggressive, will have to try and tone down his temper though! Well thats it for now, bit of a long post, they will be less frequent, just wanted to get on the way! Encouraged by the possession and shots im having in games. Dons Posted November 25, 2007 Share Posted November 25, 2007 Season 08-09 With the usual no staff, no players, no finances and no hope - the hunt for an ass man begun. Wasnt to picky about it and took the first one that would accept an offer. Got 2 coaches, 3 scouts and 1 physio as well. Now for the bargain hunting for new players. Following ss, shows the transfers for the whole season. 3 notable players for the season: Anthony Mason (free transfer) end season stats: End Season Lloyd Saxton (loan) End Season Cherno Samba (loan) Season started off really bad and quickly found myself at the bottom of the table. Was starting to get worried that i had suggested a mid table finish. But it seemed the players just needed to adjust to each other. Not really much fun to report from the season, as the graph will show Tiverton rose steadily to the 3d place in the league and kept that place all season. The 2 teams in front of Tiverton (Billericay and Dorchester) just played to good to be able to compete with them. Managed to get into the playoffs. The playoff semi final was against Bath. With a 0-0 home the odds were firmly against us on the replay but we managed a 2-1 win. Final was against Dorchester - a team we had lost to and drawn to during season. The summary says it all. Dorchester was on a 11 run unbeaten and going strong to the final. In a hard fought match where both teams had a goal disallowed. Dorchester won 1-0. Beat the expectations and my own to what i thought i could achieve the first season. The final league table shows we had a really good defense, and especially due the young Lloyd Saxton. On the midfield and attack we lack alot. Going optimistic onto the next season though. Cup runs almost fulfilled the expectations the board set. leth4l87 Posted November 25, 2007 Share Posted November 25, 2007 Bedford - Championship - Season Update After a great season in League One I got promoted, now there are a lot of "big name" clubs in the league so it definitely wont be an easy task staying in the division. At first couldn't find suitable players but then I made some great signings(my opinion). Had a dream start, 2 wins 2-0 away with Southampton and 4-0 with Blackpool The game with Blackpool was one of the biggest dominations by my Bedford My defense is really solid right now and the rest of the team is playing 'Arsenal-like' football, a lot of short passes and many shots on goal, unfortunately not all shots are made by strikers but the other players are scoring too. Mangotsfield United manager Frank Gregan has named a sixteen man squad ahead of Monday nights league fixture at Merthyr Tydfil. It's normally not until the first game of the season until my scout finds anything so right from the start I'm stuck with some 16 year olds and a couple of loanees from parent clubs. dafuge Posted November 25, 2007 Author Share Posted November 25, 2007 Season 2009/10 Review - Tiverton Town in the Blue Square South After last season's disappointment of losing the playoff final on penalties, I was looking for promotion this year. League Table League Positions Graph My defence were solid again, making me a hard team to beat. Unfortunately my attack couldn't deliver the good which resulted in an unbelievable 22 draws from 42 games. Squad Transfers Pretty much the same squad as last year, the only major loss was the goalie I had on loan last season, I just couldn't find someone to replace him.
