Cole and Robben would be first choice, but with Robben frequently injured, we would need a stable and efficient backup. Kalou could be an option but he looks better up front. Shevchenko is debatable and I don't think moving him to the flanks would be a good thing to do if we want him to recover his goalscoring form.

I would prefer we kept Sweep, but if it's a choice between him and say, Alves, I would prefer the latter.

Obviously not that simple though. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I would prefer we do both - keep SWP and get a new RB. However, Jose doesn't seem to be urgent for a rightback though..

This has been quiet so bit of an update.

so Jonas Elmer has been transferred to FC Aarau

And lots of news of Lampard possibly leaving to Barça or Juve, with the barça deal possibly including Deco. Still can't see it happening.

Oh and the new away shirts selling really well in the first day, doubling the sale from the white one last year on day 1 icon14.gif

Also in the news was Arnesen interested in bringing Bosko Jankovic over. probably just speculation, first we wouldn't need another offensive midfielder (unless he's a winger icon_confused.gif)

and Malouda claims he's told Lyon he wants to come to Chelsea, would like us to have another left footed attacking player so icon14.gif

Jurgen snubbed Blues offer

Sunday 01 Jul 2007

Former Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann claims to have turned down the chance to take charge of Chelsea this summer as he didn't want to move his family back to Europe.

The 42-year-old former Germany boss was concerned at the effect that taking the Blues job would have on his family, who are currently based in California.

His decision not to take up the offer has left Jose Mourinho's position more secure than it appeared to be earlier on in the summer, despite his trophy-laden three seasons at Stamford Bridge.

See... Speak... Surf... Get Sky Sports, free UK evening and weekend calls plus broadband. Create a combination that's perfect for you

Klinsmann told the Sunday Mirror: "I realised that as a family we had to move back to Europe if I was going to take such a big job. I did not want to do that to my family.

"For me personally it was not the biggest problem if I had to go back to Europe. But for my family it was not a healthy situation.

"In California my wife and children are who they are. In Europe they would be the wife and children of Jurgen Klinsmann.

"There would be constant attention, media focus and pressure that I would never want to put on them.

"It's a family decision why I decided not to take up one of the biggest jobs in football.

Frank Lampard has reportedly rejected a new contract offer at Chelsea, fuelling claims he will join Claudio Ranieri at Juventus.

The media in England suggests that the wages proposed would be higher than the £121,000 per week given to Andriy Shevchenko and Michael Ballack.

However, the delay in making the offer has reportedly angered Lampard, who under FIFA rules could buy himself out of his two-year contract.

The midfielder had already been heavily linked with a summer move to Juventus and these reports will prompt negotiations to intensify.

Coach Ranieri has named Lampard as one of the prime objectives for his new-look Bianconeri, who return to the top flight after a year in Serie B.

"In an ideal world, it would have happened three weeks ago but it is not an ideal world," said the England international.

"It feels strange. It is something I am trying to keep my mind off. You get on with it. I am not surprised by it, because nothing surprises you in football."

I see La Lampard is now saying £132k per week isn't enough for him and he is disappointed with the club for not getting it sorted sooner. Poor diddums. Must be so hard for him struggling by on only £12,857 per day.

Which makes this story from the Guardian all the sweeter, really.

"Il est un wazzock" is the phrase in my head. Lord only knows why.

Radio Marca claim that Chelsea have tabled a 23 million bid in order to sign Daniel Alves.

The Blues upped the ante to land Sevilla wing-back Daniel Alves late on Monday evening.

The discussions between Sevilla and Chelsea began over the transfer of Khalid Boulahrouz, with the Uefa Cup winners looking to seal a 5-6m euro move for the Dutchman.

And agreement over the former Hamburg man is said to be close, but the Blues took the opportunity to make a 23 million euro approach for the Brazilian wing-back.

Sevilla have refused the bid for the moment, insisting that they want 25 million euros. However a difference of 2 million euros is unlikely to stand in the way.

Peter Kenyon tried to make Boulahrouz a part of the deal, but Sevilla president Del Nido wants to keep the two deals separate, supposedly because should Daniel Alves leave, he would rather sign a specialist right back, and not the Dutchman.

However, what seems clear is that Chelsea have decided to move for La Liga's best right-back. The radio report seems to be consistent with Del Nido's rather public 25 million demand for Alves, made a while ago.

Is this the only money Roman will let out his pocket this summer?

Would be so so chuffed if we signed Alves, only seen him in a few games but has looked very good, and we're pretty desperate for a right-back imo.

Lampard has been a hero for the last few years, poor for the last 3-4 months of last season but would still like him to stay.

Oh and Juni - I used to be 'Go-Go' but for some reason my account stopped working so have become 'Didier' - a far better name...anyway - don't let anyone ban me!

Would like Lampard to stay for at least 1 more season. Just have the bad feeling though that his poor form looks very unlikely to go away even when the new season starts. Well, shall have to see what formation Jose plays then, and how Lamps fit in.

****ing new money twats, you just don't know how good we've had it.

God it's depressing.

What, so we should accept him playing well below the level he needs to be playing at for a team chasing 4 trophies for 5 months of the season, and not only accept it, but reward it with the biggest contract in the club's history?
