Up until November 2019 Queen's Park were the famous 'go to' team as a manager who wanted to manage a team that would never be anything other than amateur. But now what?

This is where I come in, to try and keep it to a small-ish database (all players based in the UK & Ireland loaded) I'm going to take control of one club that is listed as always amateur and see how far I can take them, whilst also seeing how the other always amateur clubs in England, Scotland & Wales are doing.

Out of these teams only two are playable out of the box, Cardiff Metropolitan University & Swansea University. I will be using editor files though. I'll be using @Rainbowz Welsh file and loading down to the 4th tier so Aberystwyth Uni will be playable, I'm using @Dan BHTFC English file down to the 9th tier and I'm using @tardisblue81 Scottish file loading down to the 9th tier which is where Heriot-Watt are playing.

And what team will I be managing?

Solent University Football Club are a football club attached to Solent University, and are based in Southampton, Hampshire. The club is affiliated to the Hampshire Football Association, and is a FA Charter Standard club. The club competes in the Wessex League Premier Division.

The club was a founder member of the Hampshire Premier League in 2008. They were winners of the Hampshire Premier League Cup in 2008 and the Southampton Senior Cup in 2009. The club finished runners-up in the Hampshire Premier League in 2009–10 and 2010–11, winning promotion to the Wessex League Division One. In the 2014–15 season, Team Solent were promoted to the Wessex Premier Division, after winning the Wessex Division One for the first time. In 2016 Team Solent won the Wessex League Cup beating Newport IOW 1–0 in the final with a goal from Toby Adekunle.

We have two real players and we're a bit attack heavy.

Now since we're amateur we'll have a lot of players coming and going every season. I could just go out and sign everyone available but that's not going to help the team gel so I'm going to do what I usually do and leave that up to members of staff.

Just a shame they play out of Southampton...

It's a shame for you, but it is by far the closest permanently amateur team to you. :D

Good luck!, I'll be following.

I've just started my own level 12 save with Poole Borough, the side I play for, and I've so far made it up to Wessex League Division One, one below where you currently are.

Thanks for following Talbot, good luck! I take it Poole Town would be your rivals eventually?

Possibly. Poole Borough were actually formed by a group of supporters that were so fed up with the state of Poole Town at the time they decided to make their own club. An FCUoM type, if you will. The closest side to us by a country mile is Hamworthy United (in your current league), which is roughly half a mile away on the same road. We often train directly behind their stadium.

Ah just seen that this goes back to 1999 so an FCUoM before the FCUoM, We've managed the double over Hamworthy this season. :D

Indeed. Unfortunately, we do not get 3,000 a week. Congrats, Hamworthy Utd are currently managed by ex-Oxford and Aldershot striker Tim Sills.

Yay! Love to see my DB being used, even if you're not managing in it currently. This is a very interesting challenge. I remember back in FM 2015 (?) I ran a sim for a future save of the English lower leagues, and Corinthian Casuals made it to League 1 as an amateur team. If the AI can do it, so can you!
