  1. Training schedules from previous editions won't transfer, due to the changes in match prep and set pieces.
  2. Press conferences/Pre-match interviews I just leave to my assistant. They are boring in real life and so are boring in FM. I would much rather this be boiled down to one or two questions per match where the answer has a guaranteed effect on player/fan morale & player/board/opposition manager relationship. Interactions are okay once I learned that there is a very specific way to do them, which is not ideal but prevents the level of aggravation I see on here. It still has players moaning but it's often better just to peace out at that point and leave it for a while. I think part of the problem (aside from the logic) is that most players go into these interactions blind. This is the one area in the game where you get no help from your assistant for example, which is unrealistic.
  3. Width effects the positioning of the players when in possession in both build up phase and final third. Wider width, more spaced apart. Focus play effects build up. Players in that zone are more attack minded and will often receive the ball more during the build up phase.
  4. This was in FM23. If a player was a top target for another team they always wanted to leave. That said they would normally try and match the players value though. If there is enough time left on his contract you should be able to wait it out. Which players would logically move to Saudi is going to open a can of worms this year.
  5. Image rights and trademarks can be part of licensing issues. You can change the name in the editor but it's possible you will need a real name fix db file as these often prevent real names from appearing in the game.
  6. I'd be interested to know how this looks in 2043, when the real life players are all but retired.
  7. FWIW in FM23 the wonderkid players with high CA did still exist, however you will only see these players at smaller clubs. Barcelona, Man City youngsters developed much slower and the highest PA newgen in my current game has 170CA/190PA by age 20 playing for Mainz. I also think this is a factor. Real life players have high CA/Natural fitness, very few weaknesses and at least average personalities compared to Newgens, who have much more variability.
  8. Were you taking part in transfer deadline day? I think I've seen this happen before if you aren't participating due to the short timescales.
  9. In addition to a lot of good points above, the other issue I have is the lack of variety. The previous format meant you could play against unique teams every year at the group stage level, and then encounter the usual suspects at the later stages. You would think the league format would have more variety but in my current game I seem to play Real Madrid in the league stage every year without fail.
  10. I wonder if attribute changes for staff will come with other additions for developing staff. It's a nice addition though. Fixture scheduling improvements are also welcome, hopefully that means an end to matches with only a day break between. I downloaded a club world cup db to move it to December and it has caused absolute chaos in my save.
  11. As an example watching Newcastle this season, Howe definitely has a couple of favourites he likes, including playing a low ball to the edge of the area for a player to ghost in. I'm interested to know how short corners and free kicks will work. Teams in real life love using runners to deliver a ball into the box rather than directly from the kick, I wonder if we'll get more of this variety in FM24.
  12. Transfers would be unsustainable once newgens become prominent (4-5 years in.), which is the exact time I would argue the AI begins to struggle against the human. Hopefully the new AI squad building resolves these issues. SI could certainly look at the tactical meta and adapt the AI in updates. I think that would add some challenge but then you run into the danger of every team in the league playing 4-2-3-1 gegenpress. I would love to see tactical trends implemented into football manager though. Fluid Counter becomes the popular style, and then other teams adapt to compensate, then as a result gegenpress becomes more popular, or the 4-4-2, and so on.
  13. It would depend on what you would define as a ceiling. If you mean attributes then there is a difference in the ceiling between two players with the same PA depending on their two footedness/positional ability, so a one footed ST will likely have a small advantage in attributes compared to at AMRLC/ST with two good feet. That said, I don't think it has much of an actual impact on the game.
  14. I imagine the clubs will be made to be extremely rich and able to make huge bids. A couple of Saudi clubs go for older players on decent money in FM23, so I don't think it would be hard for SI to implement despite no league.
  15. I believe these values have been discussed before and have no actual bearing on the game itself but I could be wrong.
  16. I definitely think scouting improved in FM23 but recruitment focuses are still a bit funky. I set the CA/PA to be max 3 stars. Anything higher never seems to work. Are you getting no near misses either? Sometimes I see good players in there and disagree with the reason the scout rejected the player.
  17. SI clearly don't like micro tweaking of a tactic, which is why we also lost sliders, position arrows, and player roles were locked down. I'm sure realism comes into their thinking but it's also noticeable how FM doesn't really suffer from outright broken tactics as much these days, even if there still a meta. The blog outlines a new role designed to make City's tactic possible in FM. Player roles and mentalities are now supposed to be the on the ball/off the ball instructions
  18. You should take a look in the skinning forum. Plenty of skins have made their custom versions of the report card that includes attributes.
  19. Massive overload on the right hand side, with Yusuf moving into the channel being backed up with a winger makes things difficult for the opponents left hand side. Add the mid-block with pass into space and you've got a good team on the counter. Also the 4-4-2 has been a great formation for years. Two strikers is just very difficult to defend against.
  20. If you don't have a U18/Reserves manager you can make him manage one of those teams, and make sure he uses your default tactic. They tend to change their formation preference to yours over time.
  21. Level of discipline effects the coach rating so it is very important.
  22. Wow. That's good to know. Nista was also terrible in my save for failing his coaching course.
  23. Will it be possible to add the J-League to a save you are migrating from FM23??
  24. I hope the J League is included, as I will absolutely be doing Uwara Red Diamonds as my beta save. I might transfer my existing save to FM24 but if there are significant changes to youth development I might make up a new save.
