OVERVIEW

The season kicked off in the Europa Conference again. Unfortunately, we were out at the first hurdle to Icelandic team Fylkir. A 5-2 away loss was followed up with a 2-1 home win, to lose 6-4 on aggregate.

The league season started really well again, and form was good up to the league split. Two wins in the championship conference stage meant that it would have to be via the play-offs to get back into Europe. We beat Camarthen Town 1-0 in the semi, only to be battered by Haverfordwest in the final 4-0. No European football next season.

In the League cup we got to the Semi-final, and then came up against the dreaded TNS. We managed a decent 0-0, only to go out on penalties.

The Welsh cup saw us knocked out at the quarter-final stage to Cefn Druids. Still no cups in the cabinet.

THE PLAYERS

Harry Hill continued to impress at left back, whilst Danny Greaves established himself as the number 1. Osian Rush had a great season at centre back and Kian Hughes managed 17 goals in his first full season.

THE YOUTH INTAKE

Best intake in a long time. Plenty of players who will have an impact on first team football.  Screen 1 Screen 2

OFF THE FIELD

Two more players poached before they made the youth intake, this time by Shrewsbury and a second one to Blackpool.

Joseph Robinson and Bartosz Nowak were both released as they could no longer get game time. Robinson left having scored 173 league goals in 382 appearances.

Youth facilities have now been upgraded again.

OVERVIEW

No European football this year so it was straight into the league season. It was a good league season all told, although we couldn’t get near Barry Town or TNS. We finished the season in 3rd place, meaning another European play-off. We eased past Camarthen 6-2 in the semi-final, then met Haverfordwest for the 2nd year running. Revenge was ours as won on pens after a 2-2 draw to send us back into Europe.

League cup semi-finalists again only to be beaten 5-0 by TNS.

Disappointingly out of the Welsh Cup at the 2nd stage, losing on pens to Ruthin.

THE PLAYERS

Osian Rush, Osian Flanagan, Arwel Sklenar some of the standout performers. Osian Graves came straight in from last years intake and bagged 22 goals in 26 starts.

THE YOUTH INTAKE

Really impressive intake, with 5 or 6 players probably ready to be involved at first team level. Atkinson came straight in and broke the youngest goalscorer record Screen 1 Screen 2

For the third January in a row we lose our best player. Richard Joseph and Marvin Eberwein were key players, but they cannot even compare to Willem Dekker. He will sign for Dortmund and make more in the first 2-3 days than he has in Katwijk for 5 years. For me he is probably the best player I've had on this challenge and I have played this challenge consecutively for a few years now!

There was no chance of keeping him, but I dont regret not cashing in on him this summer. Dekker is by far the biggest reason we won Eredivisie last season and that we have progressed from the group stages of the Champions League this season unbeaten.. in a group featuring Real Madrid. 7,55 in avg rating from an AM position after 14 league games is crazy good. Luckily one of our top talents in the U18 squas is an attacking midfielder, but overall our quality will drop massively without Dekker in the team.

I will have him for 6 more months. In a few weeks time we are facing PSG in the first knockout stage of the Champions League, and our strategy will be the same as always: get the ball to Dekker, the rest of the midfield: tackle and run! Repeat!

@Shankly84Ive been meaning to ask if you're on FM22 (pretty sure you are).  Its only because Bangor City are inactive on my FM22 save and I'm pretty sure there were only 15 teams in the Cymru North.  Are CPD Bangor 1876 in your save?

Yes, I am on FM 22. Not sure what has happened there. I've just checked and Bangor 1876 are in the lower leagues. I started the save back in December '21, so not sure if that makes a difference?

I'm really sorry to bombard with all these updates. I just want to get caught up, then I'll try and post on a season by season basis.

I don't mind at all.

In your save how many years in a row has TNS won the title?  Have they even been challenged yet?

OVERVIEW

This season brought our deepest trek into Europe yet. Not exactly trail glazing, but the 3rd qualifying round the furthest yet. Valletta, of Malta, were up first. Comfortably disposed of 4-1 at home and 6-1 away. Next up was Lithuanian club Riteriai. A closer tie, but a home win 2-1 and 1-0 away win saw us through. We came unstuck at the third time of asking. Again, I fancied our chanced, but Zeljeznicar Sarejevo beat us 2-1 in both legs. An opportunity missed, but progress none the less.

A good league season again, meeting our objectives. Not quite as many points as last year, but 68 points and a 2nd placed finish again guaranteeing European football for another season.

Underachieving in the cups again. Out to Cwmbran Town in the Welsh Cup and out to Aberystwyth Town in the League cup.

Danny Greaves is not the established number 1. Jones and O’Sullivan did well at the back again, while Arwel Sklenar is still performing well at right back. Lewis Jones with plenty of goals again, getting 18 in 31 starts.

Great intake with 3 players with first team potential already.  Screen 1 Screen 2

I've just posted season 20 and they have won every one up to that point without anyone getting close. They've also won around 95% of the cups as well. Its been so difficult to get past them.

If I can remember correctly, yes, but in one of them Bangor City took over before I finally managed to topple them both. This is my horrible memory trying to bring back stuff, something it does not do well, so some solid doses of salt with that answer, please...

OVERVIEW

So close to the 4th qualifying round. Petrocub Hincesti (Moldova) up first. A mad game in Moldova finished 3-3, then we got them back to North Wales and got across the line with a 1-0 win. Neftci Baku (Azerbaijan) next. 4-2 home win and a 2-1 away win saw us through quite comfortably. Next up Kairat of Kazakhstan again. A decent draw. We beat them 2-1 in Wales, but unfortunately went down 2-0 in Kazakhstan to see us out at the 3rd qualifying round again. Consistently in Europe and gaining wins is keeping us tick over financially.

Consistency in the league is what I was looking for. We seem to be getting that now, albeit we can’t seem to get anywhere near TNS (yet).

The League cup saw us defeated by TNS in the quarters and a disappointing 3-0 loss to Barry Town in the Welsh cup in the semi-final.

Haha, yes I had a Holywell save a while back and Bangor became a force. I thought at one point on this save that Barry Town were going to pull away and be the 2nd team, but they haven't done yet.

Good shout, my start date was 4/4/22 (Norway), I bet that's it. If I'd have known I would have started earlier. The 15 teams in the Cymru North triggers me everytime. I really wish SI would just make a call on these things and assume subsequent seasons will be back to normal. Same as the Irish second tier which has 9 teams this season (due to 2 teams merging) but should be back to 10 next season if Kerry's licence is approved.

My Iceland (Njarðvík ) save is on hold. Lacking time recently and since a real life holiday break. Since it is to late for me to start a proper youth only again (like Africanos in Portugal), i'll wait for FM23 ..

I'll have some ideas for next edition.  good luck everybody and i'll check this topic regularly .

Season 2031/32 - Super League 1

The team is starting to fill out with depth across almost most positions, still a little lean on the wings and up top. This meant we were able to consistently challenge each match day with a solid team.  We were in the top 3 for the majority of the season which qualifies for the Champions League qualifying rounds but a couple of blips in the last 3 games meant we finished fourth and straight into the Europa group stage.

We did lose Fragoulis our monster in defence to Porto who triggered his release clause of 4.4m.  The money was used to update both training and youth facilities which are now adequate and average respectively.

Had a new entrant in the NxGn list as my starting keeper got injured for 3 months so played Arapi who came through the last intake.  He is now my starting keeper and sold my other for a small fee.  Fragis took top spot for the third year in a row.  Next year is his last year of contract so nervous times ahead!

Intake was as previewed but i think its two fold, one being our players at a much higher level these days along with the transition from old to new HOYD:

As a bonus i did win the manager of the year award which was nice and my Board decided that we need to move into a new stadium as the current one is old and dated plus we're filling it out just about every home game.

Worthing FC - Season 28 - English Premier League - Mid Year Review & Youth Intake Preview

League - 3rd so far

We are looking very good indeed. We have had a few changes in the team, rotating in the youngsters last year has certainly seen them progress a lot and due to that (as well as not being in Europe) we are having our best season yet. We are still the best defensive team in the league and our attack has improved...slightly.

image.thumb.png.60370b20a8cd9be15aa6093ec2581ed4.png

Tom Rowe (24A) has had time away from the club on loan, been a squad player and now suddenly he scored 6 goals in 2 games and looks like our new starting striker.

image.thumb.png.150372880c7a3bcfc451450addd4ed09.png

Paul Price (YP18A) is our previous Wonderkid (although never in the nxgn) and is now our star player and probably a big reason why our defense is so solid. He just signed a new 4 +1 year deal for 110k per week.

image.thumb.png.49be856e74b929f5c637f4a35f2b72fb.png

Overall our squad is playing very well indeed. This is the current lineup and those average ratings are pretty nice indeed, especially (as usual) our 4 defenders and GK.

image.thumb.png.9d39427e9c5ce3fc80c1a2193d30fb3a.png'

Youth Intake Preview

Not a great one unfortunately. Hopefully it is a lot better than predicted as we need that final push to the title. A new CDM and a prolific striker would be especially nice!!

OVERVIEW

The first qualifying round of the Europa saw us up against Lithuanian opposition again in the form of Penevezys. A 4-0 away win was followed up with a 2-1 home win to see us through comfortably. Next up was Bosnian Sloboda Tuzla who were also comfortably beaten 5-1 away and 3-1 at home. The 3rd qualifying round saw us head to Scotland to play Livingston. We were never in the tie, losing the 1st leg 3-0 at home, followed by a 3-1 away loss. 3rd qualifying round is still the furthest that we have gone.

Another typical league season, finishing in 2nd place. Barry Town are closing in on us though and it took a 3-0 win at their place on the last day to get 2nd place. We need to start pulling away from them and closing the gap to the dreaded TNS.

For the 2nd year running we made the League cup final, coming up against TNS again. It wasn’t to be this year though, losing 2-0.

The Welsh cup saw us pipped in the semi-final by Aberystwyth 2-0.

THE PLAYERS

Marcus Jones and Matthew O’Sullivan have formed a solid partnership at centre back. Kieran Claridge was pushed further forward into a DM role and did well again. Martin Atkinson continued his good form and Joseph Newton smashed it in midfield in his first full season. Oliver Lawrence-Gray broke into the team banging 30 goals in 37 games.

OVERVIEW

The Europa Conference saw get the deepest we have yet, partly due to entering at the 2nd qualifying round this year. A 7-3 aggregate win over Valmiera was followed by a 3-2 aggregate win over Glentoran, getting through with an impressive 3-2 away win. Maribor was the last hurdle before the groups, but it was a step too far. A 2-0 home loss and 3-0 away loss meant we were beaten comprehensively.

Both cups saw us frustratingly lose to Barry Town on penalties in the semi-finals after drawing both 1-1.

Very similar league season again just getting into 2nd place, 1 point ahead of Barry Town.

THE PLAYERS

Marcus Jones went up a level, achieving an average rating of 7.53 over the season. O’Sullivan also continued his form and Gary Tattum did well acting as the back up to the two. Joseph Newton again impressed in centre midfield and the goals were split between Lewis Jones (27) and Oliver Lawrence-Gray (26).

THE YOUTH INTAKE

Quite a standard intake.  Screen 1 Screen 2

OFF THE FIELD

The first time we’ve been picked off by a bigger club. Kieran Claridge moved on for £1.3m, but it was disappointing how it happened. Offers were accepted by the board well below the value I held him at. My main aim was to get a 50% of next transfer clause inserted but it wasn’t to be. The £1.3m is definitely needed though and was reinvested back into the club in the form of academy coaching and the club finally turning professional.

OVERVIEW

4th qualifying round again for the Europa Conference. Sligo Rovers were dismissed 5-1 on aggregate and then we got passed a tricky Beroe with a 1-0 away win. Eintracht Frankfurt were next and it was another step too far. Beaten 4-1 at home, we managed to get a credible 3-2 loss in Germany, but it was the 4th qualifying round again.

The league is becoming very predictable. 1. TNS 2. Corwen 3. Barry Town. 69 points this year and a comfortable 14 clear of 3rd place.

The League cup was short lived as we met TNS in the 3rd round. A shock defeat to Prestatyn Town in the Welsh cup.

THE PLAYERS

Marcus Jones with another great season, also managing 16 goals from centre back. O’Sullivan with another impressive av. Rating and Billy Boyes has made the RB spot his own. Ryan Proctor is now comfortable as our left back and Lawrence-Gray was prolific again, with another 27 goals.

THE YOUTH INTAKE

A good intake, with Ryan Capes ready for the first team.  Screen 1 Screen 2

OFF THE FIELD

It was the turn of Joseph Newton to move on this year, in a move to Newcastle that brought in £2.5m. Luckily, we got the 50% of next sale clause in this one. He looks like a real player and is now valued between £49m and £75m. Hopefully he gets snapped up, as this could be game changing.

Kieran Claridge moved on to Sheffield United in a deal worth £27.5m from Bristol City. We did get £684k from this, but imagine if the board had let me negotiate and we had a clause in this one. Very frustrating.

This season saw me reach 1,000 games in management.

OVERVIEW

Out at the first time of asking in Europe, to Voluntari. A shocking 5-1 home loss was followed by a 4-3 away win, but it wasn’t enough.

Same old in the league. 2nd place, but good progress as we broke our points record. 77 points the most to not win the league.

We managed to make it to the Welsh cup final, but TNS were the opponents. They were far too good for us, and we went down 4-1 on the day.

A poor result saw Buckley knock us out in the League Cup semi-final.

THE PLAYERS

Marcus Jones is the first name in this section every year. 7.45 this year. Lloyd Jarman is starting to find his feet now, replacing Newton in midfield and Levi Jones is doing well, after being converted into a striker. 23 goals from Lewis Jones and a record breaking 49 from Lawrence-Gray. He now has 102 league goals in 108 starts.

THE YOUTH INTAKE

Dan Pope looks like he’s ready to go straight in as first choice keeper.  Screen 1 Screen 2

I mean I may or my not be currently holidaying a couple of countries to have a look around. Seems like not enough time to complete this again before FM23 but I like a challenge and let's be honest this challenge is less about completing it and more about how much we like to punish ourselves isn't it? :D

We are all somewhat masochistic in here, aren't we? :D

OVERVIEW

A decent run the Europa Conference qualifiers. Tricky tie against Astra Giurgiu in the 2nd qualifying round saw us take a 2-2 draw back to Wales where we emphatically beat them 3-0 to go through. Another tricky tie in the next round in Zurich saw us again draw the 1st leg only to blitz them 4-1 in the 2nd leg. The last qualifying round saw us drawn against French outfit Brest. We took a 2-1 lead over to France and was well in the tie until the last 30 minutes of the game, when they took it away from us with a 5-2 victory.

2nd place in the league, as usual, but a little too close to 3rd for my liking.

A shock result to Llandudno in the League cup 2nd round but this was the year we finally added the Welsh cup. A decent run to the final having avoided TNS. We came up against Bala this time out and took full advantage of not meeting TNS, for once. A 2-1 victory saw the cup come back to the Corwen stadium for the first time in our history.

THE PLAYERS

Dan Pope took over the number 1 spot and had a decent season. Ryan Proctor was excellent at left back and Lloyd Jarman had another great season. The front three of Levi Jones, Lewis Jones and Oliver Lawrence-Gray were all exceptional, with Lawrence-Gray adding another 33 goals to his tally.

THE YOUTH INTAKE

Decent intake. American left back Thomas Taylor looks like he could go straight in, 3 goals in his first 3 games as well!!  Screen 1 Screen 2

OFF THE FIELD

Another lad poached before he came through. This time Lloyd Llwyd to Liverpool.

Sky Bet League Two

2028/29 (season 7)

Season Summary

Great first season in League Two. We started very badly and only got the first points in September. However, then we started to play well, and ended up with just 2 points from the play offs.

Before the season we sold one of the best players to Wimbledon and in January the board accepted a bid on my best RB who had developed from 2.5 stars to 4.5 stars in the last 6 months.

image.thumb.png.70959bb6f4e7b40ff003905f389cf1e3.png

Warwick and Siemieniec are my biggest stars. Snodin has great abilities too but does not play as a great star. Unfortunately, Siemieniec's contract are expiring this summer and he does not want to talk about a new contract.

Somehow Walsh is still playing very well, despite his poor abilities.

Warwick is my topscorer and Snodin had most assists.

I expect a lot from the other Warwick (Stuart, but Stuart and Ryan are not brothers) as he developed into a model citizen this season. Moriarty has also developed well this season.

My preview was great with 5 stars.

image.png.3a648959c148db944cb048c03cf8a259.png

Lots of fine prospects. But I am not impressed with the CA. Mullings, Page, Wheeler, Leyden, and Lawrence got game time in the last part of the season.

OVERVIEW

Season 28 saw our best season yet. In the Europa Conference we met FK Qabala in the 2nd qualifying round. 3-1 home and away wins saw us through. Next up was Dunajska Streda, from Slovakia. We made hard work of it, losing the away leg 3-1, butt we managed a 2-0 home win and creeped through on pens. KuPS of Finland in the 4th Qualifying round gave us a real chance of the group stage. A 2-0 win in Finland, followed by a 4-3 home win, meant we had finally reached the group stage!!!

We did far better than expected and managed to go unbeaten in the two games with Besiktas. A 3-0 win in Turkey probably the clubs greatest ever night.

1629200675_Groupfn.PNG.a36da144a85ce85638727c8c0833e7ca.PNG

In the knockout stage we met Dynamo Kyiv. We lost 2-1 in the Ukraine, which wasn’t a bad result as we had two men sent off. It wasn’t to be in the 2nd leg, losing 2-0. Still, what a run!!

In the league it was the usual 2nd place finish, but we did manage to break our points barrier again, gaining 80 points. Once again, the most points without winning the title.

League.thumb.PNG.55d2ca3710e0394059b0083e3ede3db5.PNG

TNS knocked us out of both cups in the 3rd round of the League cup and beating us in the final of the Welsh cup, 2-1.

THE PLAYERS

Dan Pope had a great season in goal, although the bigger teams are circling, and he has a small minimum release clause. Marcus Jones was his usual self and his partner, O’Sullivan, continued to impress. Thomas Taylor made the left back spot his own, at just 16, while Proctor still flourished even as a back-up. Billy Boyes is also impressing on the other side, with a 7.30 av. Rating and 17 assists from right back. Lloyd Jarman carried on in midfield and up front Levi Jones, Lewis Jones and Lawrence-Gray all got goals. Lawrence-Gray not quite as prolific as before and Owen-Dafydd coming in from the youth team, His spot won't be guarenteed next year. Dion Fuller was the first backup striker and managed 14 in 26 in his first season.

THE YOUTH INTAKE

The better the team get, the harder it is going to be to get the good full intakes. Still 3 players with a chance of making the first team. Kennan Owen-Dafydd went straight in and bagged 6 in 5 at the age of just 15.  Screen 1 Screen 2

OFF THE FIELD

£2.49m awarded for reaching the group stage.

This is different for me. only having +- 2 months (and lets be honest, if FM23 beta comes out, we all start here our 'real game' :) ) to play a youth only is not enough for me.. but doing nothing for two months is also a problem.. :o
