Bloody disappointed with my overall performance this season, a below 7 av is useless. Can't keep my shots on target at all and seem to be generally inefficient. I'm scoring but not enough or as much as I need to to keep the team in it.

Think I'm not with it mentally, just hope the rest of the strikers such as Dean can keep us at it.

KUTGW!

Sorry for the absence. Its been a while since I last posted. My internet has been playing up. I bloody hate technology sometimes.

March was a good month. The game against Leicester was particularly amazing. The mach ratings were brilliant. I still managed to get a 6 however. Lovely. Can't finish anywhere lower than 13th. Thats a great achievement. Promotion is on.

Great updates as ever The Lambs. Keep it up!

Stick me out on loan too please, no mention of me in the last update other than that..

Cheers

You are on loan, but not happy at Stevenage.

Yeah and I'm dropped after 2 games :( I thought you didn't want to get promoted this year? If I'm not gonna be playing until next season could you send me on loan to Stevenage please?

You are currently in the squad for the last 2 league games of the season.

I don't want to go to Stevenage.

Awesome updates.

Wicked @ my internationals, finally and 6 at the time!

Played brilliant too, and has allowed me to carry over that form to my league games.

I'm crawling up there!

Why am I unhappy??? Stevenage is lovely this time of year....

The players that went on loan there must of upset the way the stevenage team performed because they had a dreadful run of results, every ones morale plunged to poor or very poor. It looks like it is settling down a bit now.

I need both keepers at the club, so no danger of you going on loan, your return from injury coincides with the last few matches of the season, so I do not think you will be fit in time to play.

In other news, all of the 18 year old and over players signed new 5 year contracts, Haowan is on a huge weekly wage now, he is probably looking at Aston Martins as I type this. He is still favourite to leave.

April 08/09 Key Matches and Events

It now looks like a tall order to get auto promotion, Leeds are on fire and have only dropped 4 points in the last 7 games, Leeds do play both Luton and Leicester in their final 5 games. So this could go down to the wire if Luton win all their remaining games. Southampton are un-catchable having a 5 point lead over 2nd place.

League: Hartlepool 2-2 Luton

Our first task is to try and take 3 points from a Hartlepool team rooted down in 23rd place with nearly all of the squad having poor moral. Hartlepool have not won a game in the last 10 matches.

5 mins. And Hartlepool are ahead from a free kick that deflected in off the wall. Great start there Luton. 1-0

40 mins. This is not going to plan, Hartlepool are getting far too many chances and they look likely to put another one away soon.

45 mins. Hartlepool get a very soft second goal from soe terrible Luton covering.

66 mins. Haowan scores to restor some Luton pride after some very good midfield build up. 2-1

79 mins. Luton are back on level terms after Dean holds the ball up for Dawson to run onto. 2-2 Gazza’s substitutions are looking inspired again, can they go on and get one more?

4 minutes of injury time is still not enough for Luton to score, this game was lost by Spuckler, he had two very average shots to save and failed with both.

This was the game in hand and Leicester won theirs.

We are now 4th, 5 points behind 3rd and 7 behind 2nd.

League: Luton 4-0 Rochdale

Unless the teams above us slip up we are just concentrating on getting a play off place. Rochdale are down in 20th place.

27 mins. Luton are lacking self belief in front of goal, Griffiths-Smith goes down injured with a head wound and is replaced by McCarthy. He will be out for a week.

34 mins. Gazza switches to the 4-4-2 that seems to be popular with the team at home, almost immediately Soder is played through by Haowan and he keeps his cool to score. 1-0

49 mins. Chopper plays a nice ball to Haowan who tries to rip the back of the net out with a fireball of a shot. 2-0 Soder was off side and in play when the pass was made, so I can see Rochdale being un happy about that goal.

66 mins. A Haowan corner gets clear back out to Haowan, he plays the ball back into the box and Dawson scores. 3-0

84 mins. Stig plays a nice ball for Haowan to latch onto, he turns and hits it into the goal. 4-0 There were hints of offside in that goal as well.

How the heck Haowan was not given a 10 is beyond me, fantastic contribution.

all the teams above us win to keep the same gap.

Team of week.

League: Leeds 2-2 Luton

Second place Leeds need to win this to keep their automatic promotion place, a win by Luton will change nothing, but may keep some pressure on them in the closing stages of the season. This is going to be almost impossible to win.

5 mins. The Leeds boss tried to unsettle Haowan in the press build up, so Gazza retaliated back, hyping the importance of this match to both sides. Luton get the better start and Haowan forces a good early save that is tipped over the bar.

6 mins. Haowan steps up for the corner and sends it to the far post where Stig heads it home. 0-1 Leeds protest hand ball, Gazza doesn’t care and just cheers with the travelling fans.

16 mins. Leeds are growing in confidence and it is taking increasingly desperate defending to prevent them getting shots in.

18 mins. Stig plays forward to Hopper who spots Dawson in space, the through ball is weighted perfectly and Dawson has the presence of mind to take it round the keeper and into the goal. 2-0

40 mins. Luton have been playing Leeds off the park, so it is completely against the run of play when a Stig clearance finds one of their players who drives it home from 30 yards out. 2-1

69 mins. Stig gets injured in a corner challenge and has to be taken off. Frith takes up his role.

86 mins. Leeds get an equaliser when a free kick deflects off the wall. 2-2

That was a poor result, Leeds were out played all match and did not deserve a point, sloppy keeping from Sanchez is the real culprit in the second half, his rating of 6 reflects his poor stopping power, he only had to cope with 3 chances and 2 of them went in.

Luton are guaranteed a play off place regardless of the remaining 3 games results.

Stig has broken his nose and is out for 2 weeks, he should of kept his crash helmet on.

League: Luton 6-0 Rotherham

16th place Rotherham got promoted with us this season, over the 3 matches played between us both have won once and draw once. With a play off place guaranteed and only a disaster for Leeds giving us second place, this is a purely cosmetic game.

12 mins. The team head out in the new home 4-4-2 formation and immediately look dangerous. Hopper is the first to score when his 25 yards shot barrels into the goal. 1-0 Good play by Sanchez to spot his run.

15 mins. Proctor is becoming a bit of a corner specialist as he gets in another goal from Haowan's cross. 2-0

24 mins. Proctor scores another corner. 3-0 I had to go and check at this point that he was not set to challenge keeper, he is on attack far post.

39 mins. Proctor is taking the mick now as he heads in another corner and becomes only the 3rd player to score a hat-trick. 4-0

54 mins. Dawson gets in on the action when he heads home a Small cross. 5-0

74 mins. Brilliant right hook from Harrison on Hopper to earn him a red card. Hopper is fine.

85 mins. A Griffiths-Smith forward free kick into the box is met by a jumping Holt who heads it into the goal. 6-0

A great victory, with 4 of our goals coming from defenders.

Victory for both Leeds and Leicester means we will finish in 4th place regardless of any other results.

Team of the week

League: Southend 1-7 Luton

The only important thing about this result for Luton is that we need to keep our morale up for the play off matches. Southend are in 5th place but their play off position is not safe, so a lose here would be terrible. Gazza gives a few of the fringe players a start and rests a few first choices.

1 mins. An early Luton corner is cleared and the ball falls to Dawson lurking on the edge of the area, he hammers it home. 0-1

37 mins. Another goal for Proctor from a corner, he is on fire at the moment. Crawford earns an assist for his corner ball in. 0-2

40 mins. Crawford goes down like there is a sniper in the stands and earns a penalty, Southend are furious. With no Stig in the team, Proctor steps up to take it and scores. 0-3

47 mins. Southend start the second half with speed and go close, down the other end Dawson works a fantastic effort to get to the edge of the box and shoot. 0-4. Soder picks up an assist for his selfless pass.

53 mins. Crawford pushes the ball forward for Dawson who takes it into the box while holding off a defender and shoots past the keeper. That is his hat-trick. 0-5

68 mins. Southend get a goal to ease their pain. 1-5

70 mins. The ball bounces clear of the box and finds Frith in space. He scores from 20 yards out. 1-6

83 mins. Dawson pops a ball forward to Dean who takes on the keeper and wins to make it a landslide. 1-7

That was a cracking away result, where was that form earlier in the season?

Dawson gets a MoM, but no 10 rating, so that elusive club only has 3 players in it still.

Delgado received a 5 rating, yet I could see nothing wrong with his performance.

Player Stats

Overview

So one game left, but we are in 4th place regardless of a win or loss, this is exactly where Genie Scout predicted we should be when I ranked the League 1 teams by ability.

I am still bemused by our away form this season, how we can go from 2-2 draws against poor sides to 7-1 victories against league leaders is beyond me. The most puzzling factor is our total domination of the games we drew, the home side would have at most 2 or 3 shots on target and they would get 2 goals from them. Luton on the other hand would often enjoy 60% possession and 7 or 8 shots on target for the same return. The goals concede rarely came on the break or from fantastic work and annoyingly many would be that players first goal for his club. The statistics for games we won and games we drew would be almost identical, it is as if the defence just switches off for periods when away, but not at home.

We are in the play-off in the next update, I think we have a squad that can scrape survival in the Championship, so I will try my hardest to get us promoted, but the play off games are a bit of a lottery. Ironically we have a good record against the other teams we will meet.

My real need for Championship football is to keep the players at the club, if we stay in League One we will lose some of you during the transfer window, promotion and the increase in reputation should allow us to keep on to the majority of you.

First person to break 1 mil mark =D

but probably gonna leave =(

Will I get reported on as much?

and do I have the highest rep?

I am hoping your new £22,500 per week wage and key player status might keep you here for another season.

Players who leave will have a monthly report of their performance, it will only be one screen and a few comments, but it should be about the same level of info you get now. You will also still get the same level of feed back at the season end.

I will be including a screen shot of players ranked by reputation from now on in the season updates. (You currently have the highest current rep and world rep).

I am also adding a few more, such as ranked by CA.

Good stuff. I see that in the last 2 games when we demolished Rotherham and Southend I had stepped in due to Stigs injury. I think there is obviously a trend there. lol.

Also with regards to my pre-season prediction, I got it very wrong. We have 15 points more before the last game of the season, and finished in a play-off place. Its all very exciting. Lets see if we can do a Hull, and hover in the championship for a couple of seasons, then push from Premier League football.

Nice stuff.

I have got a selection head ache now, the teams performances in the last 3 games have been excellent, I can not decide if I keep the same squad or make a few alterations.

You or Stig are my biggest head ache.

We have got Southend in the play off, so lets hope for another 7-1 demolition.

Poo! I think that half of my squad are going to be called up for internationals when the play-off match is being played!

I was away with work yesterday so I've only just had a chance to catch up. What a great last few months it's been, a 4th place finish is a good result. Hopefully we won't have to many games classed as away games in the playoffs ;)

I'm pleased with Hoppers season, 8 goals from midfield and an average of 7.33 isn't bad. He does seem a little up and down at the moment though, playing a blinder one week and much more average the next week.

Can't believe I'm still top scorer, given the high scoring games we've been in I should have been better. How many assists have I done so far this season?

Anyway, good work of the rest of the team, atleast we've got a good squad understanding and some really good performances from everyone else.

I agree that a rep boost may be needed, sadly a play-off promotion may not be enough (the increase in rep is usually very small compared to direct qualification) unless our rep is already very low. Not sure if its low enough. But you never know.

Lets go and win playoffs now!

Well, I'm torn between wanting us to win promotion, or spend another season in League 1, as I'm still not sure how we'll do in the Championship with such a young squad.

Delgado received a 5 rating, yet I could see nothing wrong with his performance.

The game just doesn't like me. Even when I'm not playing the game myself, it still finds ways to shaft me. :thdn: But at least the team is doing well. Better than I can say for any of my games when I play...

Have to agree, not sure but I like winning so I'm hoping for promotion! That way we can be tied to long term 5 year contracts which gives some leeway until we hopefully manage to raise enough to make it into the premiership and then sign new contracts again.

Lets hope for another update tonight then! :)

May 08/09 Key Matches and Events

League: Luton 4-0 Leyton Orient

Half time. An uneventful first half, both sides have had chances to take the lead, including some absolute howlers which should have been certain goals.

45 mins. Gazza must of built some self belief in the players at half time as the score in 35 seconds of the restart. McCarthy crosses for Soder to head in. 1-0

50 mins. Dawson collects a ball rolled out by the Orient Keeper for an Orient defender and burst free of goal, he dummies his way past the rushing out keeper and fires it into the empty net. 2-0

65 mins. Dean collects the ball short from a corner and rolls it across the length of the box to Smith in space, Smith scores with a great shot. McCarthy was a few yards off side, but the goal was allowed to stand.3-0

71 mins. Holt gets onto the end of a Crawford corner and scores. 4-0

Luton's second half display was beautiful, Orient were completely shut out. Vice Captain Holt gets a well deserved MoM.

The last 3 games have been a nice confidence boost for the team.

Leicester scored a late goal to pinch 2nd place from Leeds, this meant Luton missed out on an Auto spot by 5 points.

The other two places went to Southend and Carlisle, poor Huddersfield missed out on goal difference.

Luton get Southend in the play-off.

Play Off: Southend 0-3 Luton

We hammered Southend at home 7-1 only 15 days ago, so confidence is high in the Luton dressing room for the first leg of the play-off matches. Southend start with Home advantage in their favour.

This Match is on TV.

22 mins. The Southend keeper is having a fantastic game, all of Luton's shots have tested him and he has not failed to cope yet. Down the other end our Defence has had to put in some good tackles to prevent shooting oportunities.

Half-time. Luton look the most likely to make something happen, but I have a feeling that this game will be won in the dressing room half time speech. Let us hope that Gazza's words of wisdom inspire the team.

47 mins. Luton get the breakthrough. McCarthy picks up yet another rebounded shot out wide and crosses for Dawson to nod in. 0-1

51 mins. Fantastic play, Luton pass the ball around in the Southend half a dozen times before Hopper fires it in. 0-2 Proctor gets an assist as he was the last person to make a pass, he was in a very advanced position.

60 mins. 0-3 Luton continue to apply pressure and Crawford plays a lovely ball in for Hopper to apply the finish.

A fantastic game by Luton to put them in the driving seat for the return leg, Southend have got to come out with guns blazing.

Carlisle beat Leeds 1-0 in the other match.

Team of week.

This is no surprise as only 2 games were played.

International round up.

How do I field a team with all these players missing?

Don't you just love this game sometimes?

Play Off: Luton 4-1 Southend

Well the game is trying to stack the odds against us, 8 of our players get called up for international duty with no offer of with drawing them and the game is not postponed, I have no idea if we can win this and any injury to our Defence would be a disaster as we have no cover.

6 mins. Throwing caution to the wind Gazza lines the team up in a very aggressive 4-4-2. It pays off almost immediately when Dawson spots that Haowan has lost his marker on the edge of the box, Haowan slots the ball into the far right of the net. 1-0

26 mins. Smith puts in a vicious tackle that leaves his opponent lying on the floor and takes the ball forward, he slots it forward for Haowan to run onto, Haowan lets rip from 25 yards out and scores. 2-0

30 mins. Dean makes some space and Dawson passes for him to shoot from the edge of the box. 3-0

44 mins. Hero to villain for Dawson as he gives away a foul right on the edge of the penalty area. 3-1 Southend only need another 5 goals to get back into the game.

66 mins. Frith receives the ball from wide and passes forward to Dawson in space, he hammers it home. 4-1

75 mins. Page makes a brilliant reflex save to deny Southend a 2nd goal.

The team play brilliantly to remind Gazza that even our fringe players are pretty awesome, considering 4 of the back 5 were replaced, they performed fantastic.

Luton are in the Play Off Final and will face a Leeds side that had to use penalties to get here.

Gazza congratulates the squad on getting this far, the international players should be back, so he is faced with the luxury of a full team to choose from.

International round up.

International round up.

Play Off Final from Webley: Luton 5-4 Leeds

So it is off to Wembley to face a Leeds side that has never beaten us.

I chose the team by sorting on Form and slotting them in, this also selected the best players by Average rating as well. The only exception being Sage in goal as Spuckler has buckled a few times in big matches.

1 min. Luton kick off and Dawson has an early chance tipped over the bar for a corner.

2 mins. With the first corner knocked behind goal by Leeds Haowan steps up for a second attempt, the ball is weighted perfectly and Proctor is there at the far post to guide it home. 1-0

7 mins. Smith passes to Haowan who runs unchallenged to the edge of the area and rockets it home. 2-0

27 mins. Another Haowan corner to the far post is met by Holt. 3-0

37 mins. There is no way back for Leeds as the Luton midfield play some one touch football with the final pass from Dawson to set up Haowan for his second. 4-0

45 mins. Leeds get one back after Sanchez and Holt miscommunicate and Beckford is there to pounce on the loose ball. 4-1

Half time. Can the Leeds manager mastermind a come back?

46 mins. Sage is called into action to make a great save.

55 mins. A Haowan free kick almost earns him his hat trick, great reflexes by the keeper.

56 mins. Dawson hits the post and the rebound falls to Haowan who stabs it into the net from close range. 5-1 That is his 3rd goal.

65 mins. A Snodgrass shot deflects off Holt to beat the keeper. 5-2

68 mins. Leeds are engineering the great escape. Beckford is completely unmarked and scores from 25 yards out. 5-3

91 mins >beckford scores another 30 yard shot to record his hat trick. 5-4 they have 2 minutes to force extra time.

Luton hold on to gain promotion to the Championship, but it was a close match with Leeds making the most of Luton's many defensive errors.

I don't suppose I have to tell you how much brown adrenaline there was in the second half of the Leeds game.

I will try and get the end of year report and the players reports up by tomorrow afternoon.

We have one person who has not posted so far this season, so we may have another drop out, he is in a highly contested position, so I will not look at replacing him.

Can you show the stats for how the loanees played at Stevenage as well please??

I love the way that some FM matches are just so terrifying... you must have been s***ing yourself when the third Beckford goal went in...

Great updates as ususal, looking forward to your season summary

Nice work. Think Haowan sealed the player of the season award with that one, 17 goals, 25+ assists and a hat trick in the playoff final? Truly amazing :)

Anyway, will be interesting to pick the others, same with Turkey and such.

Next season will be very crucial to see if we can keep hold of the players, battle against relegation and still strive to improve.

Gents,

I have a small problem, I have used all my allotted space on Photobucket and I am short of a few pictures to up load.

When I can find another hosting site, or create a new false account for Photobucket, I will be posting the season updates.

I will need to reduce the quality of the images to prevent this happening again, so expect a few test images to pop up first.

Hopefully this will be sorted by tomorrow.
