The slightest bit of snow and ice and the headteachers have to close the school because if a child sleeps over the school would most probably be sued. Back when I was at school, we never closed for ice or snow. And I'm sure before that schools rarely closed for ice or snow then either. It's basically the potential for someone to fall over at school. Then you also have teachers. Most teachers travel in and if the weather is bad, alot of them can't make it in.
