Nobby_McDonald
Sod it, I'll do the goalkeepers now... GOALKEEPERS Stjepan Bekavac Age: 22 Born: Kastel Stari, Croatia 22 youth caps, 0 goals Signed for £50,000 from Hajduk Split in July 2042 Season: 0 games Club: 0 games Career: 58 games, 0 goals Joining Celtic on a free transfer on 1 July Mark McDonnell Age 23 Born: Liverpool, England 9 youth caps, 0 goals Signed for £475,000 from Exeter City in July 2041 Season: 4 games, 0 goals, 6.88 average Club: 75 games, 0 goals Career: 76 games, 0 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? No. Simple. Vincent took over as number one when he arrived and is a much better goalkeeper. Jamie Vincent Age: 29 Born: Manchester, England 10 youth caps, 0 goals Signed on a free from Manchester United in July 2042 Season: 42 games, 0 goals, 6.95 average Club: 103 games, 0 goals Career: 245 games, 0 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Definately, he was a regular for Manchester United for a number of seasons before being demoted to number two and then leaving. He has been a big reason why our previously leaky defence has become solid.

Nobby_McDonald
FULL BACKS Diego Britéz Age: 33 Born: Ciudad del Este, Paraguay 30 caps, 0 goals Signed on a free from Livorno in July 2043 Season: 12 games, 0 goals, 6.66 average Club: 49 games, 0 goals Career: 444 games, 19 goals Britéz retired at the end of the season. Mike Brown Age: 27 Born: Billericay, England Uncapped Signed on a free from Nottingham Forest in July 2042 Season: 45 games, 0 goals, 6.78 average Club: 133 games, 0 goals Career: 212 games, 0 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Doubtful, but he's likely to play as I am weak in this area and have not been able to sign anyone better. Adam Ennis Age: 23 Born: Long Eaton, England 3 youth caps, 0 goals Signed on a free from Arsenal in July 2039 Season: 38 games, 1 goal, 7.02 average Club: 112 games, 3 goals Career: 167 games, 5 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? I'm hopeful. He was a fringe player until he went on loan to Sheffield Wednesday two seasons ago and really made the step up and performed well in the same league as us. He maintained that form for us in our promotion season so if he can step up again, he will be very useful. Daniel McKenzie Age: 31 Born: Glasgow, Scotland 11 youth caps, 1 goals Joined on a free transfer in July 2034 Season: 11 games, 0 goals, 6.75 average Club: 259 games, 1 goal Career: 343 games, 11 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? A great servant to the club but he is now understudy to Brown and frankly isn't good enough for the Premier League. Todorin Mihov Age: 28 Born: Radomir, Bulgaria 15 caps, 0 goals Signed on a free from Lokomotiv Sofia in July 2035 Season: 17 games, 0 goals, 6.73 average Club: 369 games, 5 goals Career: 398 games, 5 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? As a squad player yes. He won't be a regular starter.

Good luck with it Nobby. Even if you end up in the bottom 3, you should have a solid base in terms of finance to build again and get back up. Back in FM10 when I was managing Derby, the relegation I suffered in my first crack at the premier league turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Anyway, hope it doesn't come to that. Nobby_McDonald
Thanks guys. We shall see. In the mean time... CENTRAL DEFENDERS Gary Lee Age: 20 Born: Smethwick, England Uncapped Graduate from the club's Academy Season: 0 games, 0 goals, 0 average Club: 0 games, 0 goals Career: 4 games, 0 goals Lee didn't do well in four games on loan at Cambridge United and was released at the end of the season. John Ondo Age: 22 Born: Franceville, Gabon 25 youth caps, 1 goal (for England) Signed for £850,000 from Anderlecht in July 2044 Season: 44 games, 0 goals, 6.79 average Club: 44 games, 0 goals Career: 95 games, 3 goals Ondo was sold to Everton for £3,800,000 in July 2045 Dennis Pedersen Age: 24 Born: Sønderborg, Denmark 21 youth caps, 0 goals Signed for £1,000,000 from Southampton in July 2041 Season: 5 games, 0 goals, 6.74 average Club: 62 games, 0 goals Career: 127 games, 9 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? On his day he can be, but he is too inconsistent and cannot be relied on for a run in the team. Valentin Simeonov Age: 28 Born: Krivodol, Bulgaria 13 caps, 1 goal Signed for £500,000 from Fulham in July 2042 Season: 45 games, 0 goals, 6.87 average Club: 132 games, 1 goal Career: 336 games, 10 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Murrayzoster
Fantastic career Nobby. Along with a couple of other threads I have followed since the beginning as a long time viewer of this forum. The patience you have shown to stick with this game despite all of the newer versions of FM released is fantastic (so much so that I have dug out my old FM11 to reload one of my careers on it to continue). I have to ask, what has made you stick with FM11 (beside this great long term save)?. And also I assume you will be hopefully continuing this game until you either make Newcastle Town as successful as you can?. Glad to also see you managed to get your save fixed despite problems posted above. Keep up the good work and great thread. Cheers
Nobby_McDonald
Thanks Murray. There are two reasons I am still playing FM11. One is because I don't have much time to play FM these days. Full time job, a wedding in September and upcoming house move doesn't give much free time, and some of that is spent on the golf course. The other ties in with that. I like to have to long term career saves and so with not having much FM time, it takes me a long time to get through them.
Nobby_McDonald
WINGERS Gary Smith Age: 23 Born: Forest Gate, England Uncapped Signed for £10,000 from Coventry City in July 2042 Season: 38 games, 13 goals, 6.94 average Club: 80 games, 25 goals Career: 137 games, 36 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Enjoyed easily his best season for the club last season, having started as understudy to Tonks, he became a regular striker by the end of the term. I doubt he'll make the next step up though. Jack Smith Age: 26 Born: Darlaston, England Uncapped Signed on a free transfer from Reading in July 2038 Season: 43 games, 13 goals, 7.17 average Club: 290 games, 72 goals Career: 335 games, 85 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Had a great season and has been consistently very good for the club. He might make the step up, and without doubt he certainly deserves the chance to. Steve Tonks (vice captain) Age: 30 Born: Sidcup, England Uncapped Signed on a free transfer from Tranmere Rovers in July 2039 Season: 42 games, 7 goals, 6.96 average Club: 222 games, 25 goals Career: 432 games, 73 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? A no nonsense player who puts in a shift and plays for the team, he won't have the class to turn games.
Nobby_McDonald
CENTRAL MIDFIELDERS Mike Ashton Age: 26 Born: Doncaster, England 6 youth caps, 3 goals Signed on a free transfer from Liverpool in July 2043 Season: 26 games, 13 goals, 7.44 average Club: 69 games, 27 goals Career: 226 games, 60 goals Ashton was sold to Newcastle United for £7,250,000 in January 2045 and still ended up joint top scorer for the season! Richie Beresford (captain) Age: 32 Born: Sheffield, England Uncapped Signed on a free transfer from Motherwell in July 2036 Season: 42 games, 0 goals, 7.15 average Club: 377 games, 24 goals Career: 540 games, 33 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? He would have been a couple of years ago, but age is beginning to catch up with him and he might find it a bit of a struggle. Ben Green Age: 20 Born: Cheltenham, England 2 youth caps, 1 goal Signed for £1,800,000 from Birmingham City in January 2045 Season: 19 games, 2 goals, 6.67 average Club: 19 games, 2 goals Career: 19 games, 2 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? He has potential but I expected better from him given his ability. James Hull Age: 20 Born: Wednesfield, England Uncapped Progressed through the Youth Academy Season: 0 games, 0 goals, 0 average Club: 0 games, 0 goals Career: 0 games, 0 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Yet to play a game for the club but has impressed for the reserves. Doubtful he will cut it at the highest level in England. Paul McQueen Age: 25 Born: Falkirk, Scotland 8 youth caps, 0 goals Signed for £325,000 from Falkirk in July 2036 Season: 24 games, 2 goals, 6.76 average Club: 151 games, 12 goals Career: 151 games, 12 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Has been a loyal club player and capable of playing in the middle or on the right in midfield and in a more advanced position. Doesn't have the quality for the Premier League though. Richard Newton Age: 21 Born: Bradford, England 1 youth cap Signed on a free transfer from Manchester City in July 2041 Season: 14 games, 0 goals, 6.78 average Club: 22 games, 0 goals Career: 25 games, 0 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Is improving but can't see him making an impact.
Nobby_McDonald
And finally... STRIKERS Vedran Brajkovic Age: 20 Born: Stobrec, Croatia 6 youth caps, 2 goals Signed for £200,000 from Hajduk Split in July 2042 Season: 3 games, 0 goals, 6.73 average Club: 4 games, 0 goals Career: 19 games, 5 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Bought at the same time as Bekavac as they both showed potential, but like his countryman he has yet to fulfill any of it. Unlikely to get his chance and unlikely to be good enough. Daniel Copeman Age: 24 Born: Deeside, Wales 9 caps, 1 goal Signed for £240,000 from Swansea City in July 2042 Season: 30 games, 12 goals, 7.00 average Club: 117 games, 37 goals Career: 136 games, 42 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Still getting better, but form dipped when Ashton left the club. Question marks if he is good enough for the top league. Ritchie Hunt Age: 20 Born: Forest Gate, England Uncapped Signed on a free transfer from Manchester City in July 2041 Season: 5 games, 0 goals, 6.70 average Club: 5 games, 0 goals Career: 5 games, 0 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Clearly his best is yet to come but he's not good enough at this time. Marc Kaiser Age: 22 Born: Verden, Germany Uncapped Signed for £1,000,000 from Newcastle United in January 2045 Season: 5 games, 1 goals, 6.88 average Club: 5 games, 1 goal Career: 81 games, 18 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? Was just finding his feet at the club when injury ruled him out for the last three months of the season. Best striker at the club now, we'll have to see... Nikolas Stavrou Age: 35 Born: Larnaka, Cyprus 89 caps, 10 goals Signed on a free transfer from Anorthosi in July 2029 Season: 35 games, 9 goals, 6.81 average Club: 565 games, 326 goals Career: 628 games, 349 goals Will he be good enough for the Premier League? A few years ago he would have been. Now he is past his best and is only likely to get the odd cameo appearance. He is the best signing I have made and has been an asset to the club for a decade and a half. Colin Tiernan Age: 37 Born: Southport, England 74 caps, 22 caps (for Republic of Ireland) Signed on a free transfer from Bohemians in July 2037 Season: 7 games, 2 goals, 6.84 average Club: 235 games, 132 goals Career: 391 games, 230 goals Tiernan retired at the end of the season and like Stavrou, he has been key to the rise of the club. Nobby_McDonald
We were superb with Ashton in the side, he scored and created so many goals and we built up a big lead at the top of the table. When he was sold, our form dropped dramatically and we were clinging on to top spot by the end. From a relative struggle in the Championship to the Premier League is a massive step. pezza1
Are you going to carry on with the save?!
Nobby_McDonald
I have split the game into two saves. 1. Retired my manager and set up a new one, to run the game and see how Newcastle Town do after my departure. 2. Saved the day after relegation. My intention is to start a new game on FM14 but if that doesn't go well or I don't enjoy it, I may go back to this.
Dexter_Morgan
I don't think i've commented on this thread often but it has been fantastic and a real shame to see you step down Hope you come back to it at some point.
chile_paul
Sad this might be at an end but will be interested to see how the club get on after your resignation if you're planning to post updates from your 'holiday' game. I fear it might be all downhill though?
DavidBeckham
Sad to see you decide to end this legend. On a positive note, looking forward to your new save
crouchaldinho
Sad to see an amazing save like this come to an end but also intrigued to see what you might do next on FM! A great achievement to bring them all that way to the top. Shame it was only a single season in the top flight but in a way that makes this story even better! Sadly, I have a feeling that Newcastle Town won't bounce back without you Nobby. The AI will surely make a mess of it even worse than you could yourself! Great effort Nobby! kevhamster
Sad to hear about the last season. That jump to the premier league is incredibly difficult. But to have got there, bearing in mind the level you started is an awesome achievement. Well done! Look forward to hearing of your exploits in FM14.
