In the 4th Round of the FA Cup, we finally get that plum away tie...

SimonBaileyNews_Inbox_zps8296d92a.png

Not only do we put in a fantastic effort and trouble Tottenham, the just over £1million share of the gate money puts our bank balance into the black for the first time in years. Briefly.

2035/36 - Newcastle Town (League One)

It's where we avenge last season and finally make it \o/ x about 20,000 who were at Wembley

Board: Playoffs

Media: 8th

Bookies: 25-1

Season tickets: 1497 (up 59) £505,986

Club value: £1,600,000

New kit sponsor: 1 year, £82,360 (up £9850)

A good start is made, but we draw too many games.

A Boxing Day draw at leaders MK Dons keep us within 4 points of them with us in second place.

Only 9 days before the cup tie at Tottenham, the chairman sells Lorenzo Murolo to Ligue 2 side Beauvais for £675,000

Brighton beating MK Dons in match 32 ties the three of us on top with 69 points.

With ten to play, Brighton and ourselves have built a gap.

A terrible end of season run is tempered by a 1-0 win at Leicester, which keeps us second, two goals ahead of MK Dons going into the final game...

Which finishes Newcastle Town 0 MK Dons 1. Bugger :(

In the playoffs, we face Leicester in the semi finals. Away in the first leg, we throw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2. I get that horrible feeling it's all going to happen again.

We outplay Leicester in the home leg in front of a capacity crowd, win 2-0 and face Blackpool in the final, who beat us on penalties in the semi final last year.

This time round we dominate Blackpool, walk away comfortable 3-0 winners at Wembley in front of 51,765 and finally win promotion to the Championship after running close four times previously. :)

While Brooks is reaching the later stages of his career, he is still scoring for England and has been named captain for the forthcoming European Championships.

Manchester United didn't do a lot but did manage to finish 4th to qualify for the Champions League.

Fully deserved, Nobby. Seems like that drop back to League Two was the kick up the backside you needed after a bit of stagnation, it's been onwards and upwards ever since then. Good luck in the Champo!

Thanks Snake. The dominance in League Two certainly sparked a big upturn.

Wow, massive congratulations, that must be one hell of a psychological barrier to break through, given it's been 11 years since you've made it to League 1 for the first time!

The Spurs tie will have done wonders to your finances too, I'm backing you to stay up next season.

2036/37 - Newcastle Town (Championship)

It's where we are the highest placed team in Staffordshire

Board: Fight bravely against relegation

Media: 24th

Bookies: 40-1

Season tickets: 1689 (up 192) £524,958

Club value: £3,700,000

New kit sponsor: 1 year, £164,000 (up £81,640)

New contract: 2 years (1 year extension), £2400 per week (up £1550)

Our first match sees us lose 1-0 at Ipswich but we win our first home match against Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in front of a capacity 6867 crowd.

Our fortunes against local club Stoke City aren't good, drawing 1-1 at the Britannia Stadium and losing 1-0 at Newcastle Town Stadium.

Overall, a great start sees us comfortably sit in the top half.

At halfway, we are doing superbly. We are 7th and serious challengers for the playoffs.

We maintain our strong form and cement our place as surprise challengers, even beating clear leaders Bristol City at home.

Our hopes fade with a 2-0 home defeat to Wigan with two games to play, but a great season sees us named as the overachievers and Matthew Hooks, Richie Beresford and Nikolas Stavrou all named in the team of the year.
