[FM2009] Holiday Game

Recommended Posts

I just started a holiday game in order to check if the game balance remains the same after x-year. My experience playing the game is that regens don't develop fast enough. But i can never really be sure because i play with an edited database. For this holiday game i used an unedited version of the 9.2.0 database. I have of course patch 9.2 installed.

I'm using FMRTE to search for players. I'll report back with updated results every 2 years.

First results are a bit of a shock tbh. Seems CA development is going way faster then on my savegame. On my game a player like Balotelli still has a CA of 146 when he's 21. On this holiday game he seems to progress way quicker and is at 169 at the when he just turned 20. Maybe editing certain aspects of the game has an influence on CA develoment.

Seems the trend has been reversed. For now i'd say players seem to reach a higher CA, but many take their time to get there.

What leagues have you loaded mate ?

First I had 10 topleagues loaded, but the processing took way too long, so I restarted and loaded only the Premier League. This had no effect at all on the numbers of regens in the categories i selected at the start of the game. At this point it seems i was correct in my original assumption that regens don't develop qickly enough. Almost every category has less players compared to the start of the game. In my savegame i have about 50 playeble leagues and retained hundreds of clubs from other nations using a DDT file and the results are comparable tbh. Still I like this way more than the way it was in FM2007 where almost every regen reached their potential at the age 21-22. Now if you can snap up a regen with a very high PA it is well possible that he never even gets close to his PA, which is how it should be imo.

The only thing i find disturbing is that some players don't develop at all.

I've snapped up a 19-year old top regen in Honduras, CA139 PA174. in the last year he played almost every match, facilities are at 13/20, training is around 5-7 stars, i play in Serie C1/A and Serie B. But his CA didn't even increase 1 point. Don't tell me he didn't learn a thing over those two years. Same thing with Balotelli, his CA doesn't even increase by 1 point despite being at an absolute top club.

If you would take the average of all those years, then there won't be a significant difference compared to the situation at the start of the game. There just seems to be a difference between certain generation, which is acceptable.

Another remark that can be made is that ca185+ players NEVER move clubs once they arrive at a top club. I really don't think Benzema will still play in Lyon in 10 years from now. Top Players regularly move clubs IRL: Ballack, Shevchenko, Ronaldinho, Zidane, Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooy, Beckham, ... Didn't happen yet in this game. Although that could be due to the fact that only 1 nation has been selected as playable.
