GalwayUnitedFC
While contemplating how I would manage to ressurect my season after losing 8 league games in a row over the Christmas period with Watford,I wondered how I could boost morale in the Squad. The one and only way I could think of was.....Winning games. What I have in mind is that in FM09/10,it would be possible to send your squad on a team bonding days. The manager could pick between a range of activities from watersports, cycle trips,Paintballing(Sunderland did some of these this year irl).It would be just an option(as in you dont see the doing the activities)and after they return a day later there would be a more postive (or negative) feeling among your players. What are your thoughts???
SWaRFeGa
I doubt people have the time to go "paintballing" in mid-season. Very gimmicky idea.
ralphieconq
This idea would be awesome in Fifa Manager but it should not even be thought of in FM.
Andy Moakes
I doubt people have the time to go "paintballing" in mid-season. Very gimmicky idea. What??!! Not have any time?? I think footballers have too much time spare. I quite like the idea. It happens in real life during the season so why not?
GalwayUnitedFC
As Andy Moakes said it does happen in real life(As I said,Sunderland did it) And Secondly,If your struggling for survival in the Premiership(or any other league),you would make time to improve moral before the players start blaming eachother and cause a split in the dressing room
nick...
Would be good if the training system was back how it was in FM05 and you could completely direct your training. Take an afternooon off regular training for some non-specifiv 'team bonding'. You probably don't want thirty options and having to weigh up the pro's and cons of going bowling or learning to waterski.
millsy1982
You do have something similar already on the game. If you are losing quite a few games, click on you more senior players and go to player interactions. You should see an option to ask plaer x to call a team meeting. This will be done with a message in your news and you should see a slight improvement in your morale.

backpackant
A half day paintballing is more than feasible. A minor team bonding exercise would be an okay feature, but sometimes it can backfire and have players fighting among themselves. An end of season / pre-season holiday would also be okay IMO. However, it WOULD be a bit gimmicky and hopefully low priority for SI.
gcormack
there was a feature very similar to this in total club manager 2004 (unfortunately i did buy it, but only on PS2)

Just Jack
When Kevin Blackwell came to sheff utd the first thing he did was take the lads go-karting. A very good idea but lose the choices. Just have a 'request team bonding day' on board room screen. They will lose a days training but moral will increase. However there could be a 'bust up' and players could come off worse than they were to begin with
Macyst
They better try to improve options for media and player interactions to boost morale rather than wasting time thinking about adding such peripheral activities. What about go shopping altogether and spending the money you earned?
Harryseaess
Good idea, I like it. As you have said, Sunderland did this and so did Man Utd because I remember Giggs shooting Ferguson in the back of the neck... Lol! So if it happens in real life then it should be in FM tbh. nogravy
It's funny this idea was mentioned, I just read that an old NBA team, the Cincinnati Royals were having problems with each other so the coach called for a team meeting at a hotel one night on the road. When the players showed up at the hotel room the coach greeted them with beer, whiskey, and three hookers and then left them to figure things out for themselves. After that, they obviously went on a winning streak. Don't suppose hookers would be one of the team bonding choices, would it?

Bit too close a piece of bonding for my liking.

Neji
So if it happens in real life then it should be in FM tbh. Murder happens IRL. Should that be in FM?

Mike7077
Here's what I think: Team-bonding exercises. Actually choosing the activities. Basically, I'm all for the idea, as it's realistic and could have an affect on your squad. But actually choosing the activities would be a bit FIFA Manager-ish. bomjr
Its a good idea actually. I like it. Could help those "Dislikes other players" to cool off a bit and increase moral. What? I recommend is that you can arrange a holiday activity at the end of the season. Players are not forced to go of course. And you can choose countries and places. As for choosing the activities, I think its not necessary. I mean, if I participate in paint-ball with my team mates, does my game quickly change to an FPS? LOL! "We'll have a holiday activity in Hawaii" I don't really have to specify what to do... right? Its Hawaii...
lil ole me
It is nt quite a bad idea actually, as some sides in the past have been used 'celebrity' pyscologists or mind specialists to try and help a side in a slump. As for the concept being added into Fm, i think it could be used in such a manner if your side has lost a certain number of games in a row (say 8) and this option becomes available. Or you could just simply pay a few grand and have a few 'ladies' visit the players at training and they can all have a real good bonding session

GalwayUnitedFC
lil ole me, Sunderland used activities in there championship winning season. No slump in form was needed for Roy Keane to bring them away for a day.
Nomis07
One concern for me is that adding this may increase the amount of players that dislike each other, especially after an activity such as paint ball. If we are coming from the angle that it's realistic because Sunderland did it we must also take the view that realistically there could be injuries or arguments involved and not many people would want that to be added. 18-WATP-73
Why bother with team "bonding" days. Chances are they all go out drinking at the weekend anyways assuming there WAGS allow them. A more sensible feature would be emergancy meetings with the team to tell them to get into gear or be out at the next transfer window
santy001
Teams like stoke took the paintballing idea and took it further, sent them to military training for a week during the break in fixtures a couple of seasons ago. It does happen, but it could become a bit gimmicky, although, I think being forced to do press-ups in the mud wouldn't really go down well with the likes of Ronaldo, Fabregas & co
