FAQ

* Can you explain the English Non-league system?

The BBC Sport website has an excellent guide to how the English non-league system operates - LINK

This file includes levels 1 to 8 activated, which is down to step 4 in the English Non-League pyramid:

Capture3.png

* Why is my team in the Northern Premier League, shouldn't they be in the Isthmian League?

One of the quirks of the English non league steps is how much change there is every season. This all depends on which teams are selected for promotion from Level 9 that may not easily fit into the regional geography of Levels 7 and 8. For Football Manager this is a problem as whilst rules have been set for each league and the vast majority of teams, unfortunately you can't programme common sense into the data editor. On the rare occasion you may find a team sorted into the wrong division, be rest assured that when the first opportunity arises to place them back into their correct division the game will sort them correctly.

* Why do I need to add All Key Staff?

I recommend you tick 'Add key staff'. That way all the staff you need, i.e. a physio and assistant manager will be generated for the clubs where there is not one set in the database.

* Are you planning on providing a data update for these teams so they have the correct players and staff etc?

This is not a player data update, no players have been added or their stats amended and I have no intention of adding this information.

* Why does the FA Cup go all the way down to the Extra Preliminary Round when only Level 8 is active?

The reason for this is simple - the first 3 rounds are drawn on the same day, so for the sake of added realism all rounds are included.

* When is the next release/update available?

This is something We cannot tell until it is ready. However the releases will be posted on FMUpdates first and shortly afterwards the SI Community. You may even be lucky and get the next version before it is announced by downloading the file.

* What is the rulebook?

The editor is limited in what match and competition rules can be input. As an example, clubs in Levels 7 and 8 are only permitted to give a player a contract, known as League Forms, for one playing season only.

We've reviewed the Isthmian, Southern and Northern League Handbooks and Rules and created a simple rule book for gamers to follow (if they wish) to help make playing these leagues more realistic. The Rulebook PDF is combined within the file download.

* I want to play with the County Cups version but I don't want my first team to be used. Can I change this?

Follow these instructions to set your team to use their reserves instead:

1. Ensure that you have already followed the first step of the activation instructions.

2. Load the FM2013 Editor from the Steam Tools menu.

3. Load the Default Database by selecting File and Load Database.

4. Load v7.1 or later versions of EEE by selecting File and Load Editor Data.

5. Select Database, choose Competitions and type the County FA Cup you want to edit, then press enter.

6. Once the search has completed double click the correct Competition you want to edit and click on the Registered Teams section.

7. Under the info tab change the number already set to '0' for Reserve Team or '1' for First Team.

8. Select File and Save Editor Data. Once done, follow the rest of the activation instructions.

Finally, Please Note:

By downloading this file you agree to not re-release it or host it in its original form, or in any edited form, without first seeking and obtaining express prior permission from FMUpdates.com - this includes redistribution of this file in 'Megapacks'.

Are saves from my 7.0 game save-compatable with 7.1 or I'll need to start a new career?

If not compatable, is it really worth to start a new career (not gonna play county cups anyway) as new version adds/fixes something really too important/bad or better stick to my old 7.0 game (played 2 seasons there already)? :)

Uh... sorry but it doesnt work this way, asking if there is or not compatibility makes no sense; if you go on with your previous save, you can do that without problem, but if you want to play with the new version you must restart a new game with the updated database.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or an issue with your database but I just played the League Two Play Off final at my home ground. Thought I'd ask here first as not sure if SI would accept it as a bug if I'd used a third party mod.

Not exactly the bumper payday I was expecting, with a capacity crowd of 7000 fans!

I have a curious problem with the County Cups.

First of all, i must say that im using other files in editor data folders (although all of the files are just changes to media, colours, players of some teams), so the issue could easily come from them, however im reporting here, just in case.

In my second season as Goole, in january 2014, i suddenly became aware that no West Riding County Cup draw was made, so i checked all County Cups, finding various strange things.

Majority of the cups was played in first season only, some of them was played in both season, one or two was not played at all as you can see below.

If nobody else experienced a such issue, then it is definitely due to some conflict with my other files.

Edit: the image is maybe too small, however the date is 22 march 2014, and it says: "Leicester & Rutland County FA Challenge Cup will start on Tuesday 6th November 2012"

As far as i can see it goes Down from EPL to Championship League two

lol now this is just crazy

I loaded the Leagues from EPL Down to League Two then I only get 5 subs to use

when I then loads from EPL Down to Regionale 1.div I have 7 subs to use all the way Down to lower Leagues

wtf hahahaha

I'll need to investigate the Cup situation when I can find the time, problems at work and uni stopping me from looking at this.

Regarding the subs, I need to know which competitions only have 5 subs. Just so you know the majority of the lower league competitions only allow 5 subs.

I am curious, so i am starting a new game with only your files selected, with the idea of going holiday until november. Then i will check if that cup starts or not.

I'm having a problem with the latest version. I'm using the version without county cups.

the first season works fine, but after that, the Premier League does not run. I'm not running any other db with this edit. I noticed when I first started the game that the premier league didn't have a red highlighted relegation zone, but thought nothing of it.

Any Ideas?

I think you may have made a mistake with the Evo-Stik chairman's cup which seems to take place right at the end of a season rather than the start. I have just won promotion to the Northern premier league in 2013 with Gresley which qualified me to contest the shield but the game isn't until May 2014.

I'm having the exact same problem with the current database. It seems that nobody gets relegated from the Premier League at all.

Sorry for all these problems. I'm just about to run a test build. I don't quite have as much time to test this so that is the only reasonable excuse for these problems. If anybody would like to help out with the test builds let me know - it would be a great help (and an opportunity to check out new features once they are done too!)

This isn't happening on my end so you are most likely using someone else's file alongside this one.

I think i could help you with the test; how many season should be played in holiday mode? If there is a reasonable amount of time to run them (i cannot have my pc running 24/24) i will gladly do that.

May i ask if anyone is using v7.2 and NOT having the problem at the start of Season 2? Just to estimate the chances of playing without problems.

If i understand correctly you can see it at the beginning of season 1 by looking if there is a red highlighted relegation zone? I will check this tomorrow on my save.

I didnt think anything of it at the time because i thought it was a skinning issue. There is no highlighted relegation zone or green champions line for that matter.

The teams seemed to promote and relegate after the first season (I noticed Nottingham Forrest promoted and were showing in the Premier Division). But one the second season started, all leagues had played 5 games or more and the premier league had played none at all.

i was using the very latest version with no other edited databases. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the delayed response. I am working on a fix which should be available tomorrow (or tonight depending on the circumstances of my test). This release won't include the County Cups as I need more time to get them to work. They will more likely be ready around the time of the January Transfer DB release.
