No I haven't. Of course not.

As I said before, I make sure my players are in top condition, good morale and happy in general. I also have the perfect players for my formation and have spend many hours on creating 50+ training schedules, backup tactics etc.

I like to control games, if I am 1-0 or 2-0 up with 10-15 minutes left of the game I change formation and put another defensive midfielder on. And with 5 minutes left I put another defensive midfielder on.

It's all about learning the game and to make the right decisions during the games.

And I have a very good squad with high determination, strength and pace.

And I have... Javier Pastore!

I follow a similar methodology but to a much lower degree (and thus with less success). Determination is almost the first attribute I look at with any potential signing. For me it is what helps you turn around a 1-0 loss into a 2-1 victory. It is also key to player development. I would not sign a payer with a determination below 14 if they were beyond 21/22 and could no longer be effectively tutored. As well as strength and pace, I like to see good stamina, certainly in midfield and at full back in order that they keep going right to the end.

Can anyone recommend me a striker to bring in as back up to Gameiro and Saviola?

I would suggest buying someone young who won't mind being second-fiddle for the time being. Yaya Sanogo is available for £2.5 million or so and has all the attributes required to be an incredible poacher if developed well. Leandro from Gremio is also a good choice. He's a bit more expensive, I think somewhere around £8 million, but he can play ST, AM RLC, and I think some of the Midfield positions as well. Aside from his tremendous pace, he's more well-rounded than Sanogo, and could possibly be developed into an advanced forward, poacher, or even complete forward, depending on your style. He gives you a lot of options in attack. The wages both players ask for are very reasonable - under £15,000/week.

Woah, will look in to that Leandro fella. Was looking at Leandro Damiao from Internacional before, but they rejected two £20M+ Offers.. forget that. Cheers for the help pal, how is your save coming along?

By the way how do you use Pastore? Which instructions are better for him?

I use him as a left central midfielder. At first I used him as a central attacking midfielder in a deep 4-2-3-1 formation, but he didn't performed as good as I wanted. So I changed formation.

Now he's more a part of build up of my play, but he's also very attacking and tries shots outside the opposition area.

Some instructions:

Passing: Mixed

Run From Deep: Sometimes

Run With Ball: Often

Long Shots: Often

Trough Balls: Often

Wide Play: Move Into Channels

Hold Up Ball: No

Attacking mentality and high creative freedom.

So far 44 games played, 12 goals and 23 assists from that position.

Sometimes it's frustration to see him take a long shot when he instead can pass a trough ball to my striker... But he's my star player , and some of the goals he has scored has been amazing!

Well said!

I've found since moving Pastore to the CM position and making him an advanced playmaker(ATK) he's having a lot more of the game go through him and chipped in with more goals/assists. In team instructions I've selected him as my main playmaker and reduced his tries long shots to minimum.

Nice to see he works well in that position for you to. And I will have a long thought during the summer if I should reduce his long shots or not.

I think Damiao will be a long-term target for me - maybe my marquee signing next summer, who knows. But he probably would not appreciate playing back-up to Gameiro and Saviola. Besides, Gameiro has been tremendous for me so far! 5 goals in 4 league games, plus a few more in each Europa League qualifier.

My save is going great at the moment. I tend to be pretty slow, so I only just finished the first international break in September, but I've won all of my Ligue 1 and Europa League games so far, scoring a boatload of goals in the process. My attacking trio of Nene, Gameiro, and Menez, has been unstoppable. Defense is looking water-tight as well. Sakho is beastly, as always, and Sirigu is a pleasant surprise. One of the things I like about PSG in FM12 is that the goalkeeper position is set for literally the next 15 years.

Speaking of surprises, Evian is second in the league right now. They've only conceded 2 goals so far. Pretty impressive, as I expected them to be Ligue 1 whipping boys. Aside from them, the top half of the table is as you would expect, with Lille, Marseilles, and Lyon starting well.

I've figured out how to take screenshots, and I have a few ready, but I'm having trouble actually positing them. At the bottom of my screen it says "You may not post attachments" in the Posting Permissions box, so I suspect this is the root of the problem. I'll provide some proper updates once I get this figured out.

Yes, really sorts out, for me at least, the biggest FM problem, I've always struggled to find good keepers, but here you have 2 generations of quality 'keepers. And I think you may need to hit a landmark amount of posts before you can post attachments. Thanks for the advice mate!

This team took me to the final in the Coupe de France, after beating RC Lens 2-0 in the semi final.

In four days I play Stade Rennais FC in the Coupe de la Ligue final. Looking forward to another trophy! But my squad are tired now, very tired, and some key players are out injured.

Pretty impressive mate. That team - no offense - is not particularly strong, so you must have some great tactical and management skills to get them that far. I actually ended up selling Luyindula. Bisevac will probably leave next summer as I'd like to sign a world-class center back. And Armand, well, I'm not sure what to do with him. He barely plays for me, but he's been at the club for a while and I fear that I might upset the squad balance by transfer listing him.

And wow, that is one of the best 15-year-olds I've seen. Almost perfect attribute distribution as well (I find that many regen players have poor creativity and decisions, so with a base of 13 he should reach 15 or so for each easily). You should have no trouble developing him if he's in your first team already. He should be in your starting XI by the time he's 18 at this rate!

Here's how i'm doing so far...

24fbj8z.png

From 6 competitive matches, we have 4 wins and 2 draws. Not too bad, but bad nonetheless considering the quality we have in our ranks.

14bryoi.png

Sitting 4th in the table, 2 points off the top.

OM are also doing bad in my save, with 1 draw and 3 losses from their first 4 matches, might take a page out of your book and raid them during the next window.

I qualified for the Europa league with ease, as you should, and ended up with a relatively easy group...

Only 1 real test in the group, Palermo.

I play way to many games right now. I really must play the reserves in the next three league games now.

tomanygames.png

And a lot of key players injured, suspended and with one yellow card from suspension.

I lost away at Tottenham, 1-2, and decided to be very attacking at home, attack 90 minutes, and it was a success

Half-way and going alright. Very competitive league this season.

A note on Gameiro. He tore his calf muscle in the last pre-season game. He recovered and I place him in the starting XI (I haven't loaded down to national tier so I can't get match fitness through reserves, will be fixed at end of season via add/remove league feature) sadly he has to come off injured early and is out for a further 3 weeks. When he recovers he starts the next two games but fails to score but was regaining fitness, then grabs his first goal for the club in his 4th game against Lille. Hopefully now he will be able to kick on and do well as Sturridge's goals dried up and I haven't been able to rely on Erdinc or Hoarau.

Are you playing Sturridge at ST or as a winger? And how are you playing Gameiro? He's become my best player. He scores nearly every game, and if he doesn't score, he often creates a goal for Menez or Nene. Thankfully I haven't found him to be very injury-prone as of yet. Leandro is a similar and will probably take over the starting role for him eventually but he's not quite ready yet. Same with Sanogo, who I'm easing into the squad.

Link to post

He has played a good mixture of both wings and upfront as I had a rough patch with injuries where; Nene, Menez, Gameiro, Hoarau, Bahaeback were all out so he had to fill in where required on a game-by-game basis due to his versatility. 18(8), 11 goals, 4 assists and 7.47 average rating in all competitions. He started the season on fire and is now in the left winger inside forward position as Nene has just been injured again opening a slot in the starting XI for him.

MrSundlofer, I also experienced a similar issue with PSG. I had games on 22/4 23/4 24/4 and then my second leg semi final on 26/4

I really doubt this is normal and there is a problem with fixtures being moved in France. I posted in the "[France] (Official) League Specific Issues" forum section but have yet to get a reply.

I'm suprised there aren't more people raising this issue.

Sirigu gets injured for 4-5 weeks, Douchez comes in and concedes 4 on his debut away to Stade Brestois. Not helped by defensive mistakes or his lack of match fitness, but still, not helped my confidence levels in him could be a rough time until Sirigu comes back.

Have gone PSG myself, looking to take them to Champions League glory.

Transfers made:

Anelka £4m

Romario (17 year old right back) £2.6m

Diarra (free)

Giovani Dos Santos (loan)

Daniel Sturridge (loan)

Julian Draxler (loan)

Josh Mceachran (loan)

3 loaned players from England and 3 players from Chelsea. Planning on playing Sturridge + Draxler a lot in an attempt to lure them to join PSG come the end of their loans.

The signing of Anelka has went down well with the board and fans, I've promoted about 8 u19 players to the first team squad and will attempt to blood them in via cup games and

Ligue 1 games against lesser opposition. Only other player I want is Marvin Martin to complete my midfield, think he'll cost a fair bit though.

Unlucky! How is Areola developing for you?

Well here's the thing...

I often forget to save my game, and mid-way through october, my computer decided to freeze, making me lose all of october and september, going right back to before the first game of the season, meaning my injuries disappeared and Marin hadn't been bought yet.. I'll do a new update now...

23jlcmp.gif

In 11 competitive games, we have 9 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw, Fairly good

16appx3.gif

Two points clear of Lille at the top, I'm leaking a lot of goals, but that's down to my attacking tactics

67rv3d.gif

Total spend of 19.75M, with 7M of this being paid over 48 months for Leandro, who got injured on his first game and is out for 3 months

2aglqj4.gif

Here's my starting XI, took a page out of MrSundlofer's book by playing the 4-1-2-3, Pastore truly does excel in his position at LCM. Bahebeck is often rotated with Menez/Nene and even Gameiro to keep everyone fresh, and in 7 games he's got 4 goals and 2 assists, not bad from a 18 year old! Saviola is a bit-part player, playing in European and Cup games in a trequartista role.

He's doing ok, I've got him in the first team but he's only played two games both coming in the Europa league. I think I have Sirigu tutoring him too, or at least he was before his injury. Will have to re-evaluate the situation at the end of the season, Douchez had become unhappy at lack of first team football before the injury and had been promised he would be allowed to leave at the end of the season so if that happens Areola may become second choice or I may loan Areola out and bring in a back-up on loan for next season. He's definitely the planned future #1 for the club though.

Douchez has kept 3 cleans sheets in the next 4 games as we've won 4 in a row since that 4-1 loss so luckily it was just a bad debut game, and possibly the wake-up call the team needed. We also reached the Coupe de la Ligue final with a 2-0 win over Lyon in that period too!

Edit - Great start to the season Anxiietyyy! Montpellier are currently top in my game.

Got some targets in mind for the next window? I know who i'm going for- Going to sell Bodmer and bring in Moussa Sissoko, rotate him and Chantome in the box-to-box midfield role, and then look for some promising youngsters to bring in, the future looks bright!

It has been a fantastic season! We won four trophies and won 90% of all games played during the season. I spend a lot of time in pre-season, created training schedules, created tactics, searched for players and analyzed my squad. I wanted to build a squad with high attributes in determination, pace and strength.

LIGUE 1

Unbeaten. 36 games won and 2 games drawn, I'm delighted! I had a lot of luck, but to change from my original attacking formation to a very defensive formation with 10 minutes left to play in games, probably won me some games. It was crucial.

seasonleague.png

COUPE DE FRANCE

My way to the final was easy. SC Bastia, Toulouse FC, CS Sedan, RC Lens and then I won 2-0 over AJ Auxerre in the final.

COUPE DE LA LIGUE

Bordeaux, FC Sochaux, Montpellier SC... then a 4-1 victory over Rennais FC in the final.

EUROPA LEAGUE

I actually won this cup, even though it wasn't my priority. Some very strange results. I didn't expect to win over Valencia and Tottenham.

europaleagueresults.png

Overall everything has been fantastic. I'm very happy with my squad but I will improve it during the summer. I will also have my best scouts at the European Championship 2012. Eight of my players have been included in the France national squad! Sakho, Gameiro, Matuidi, Rémy, Ménez, Chantôme, Capoue and Jallet.

The board are happy with me and I'm looking forward to the improvements on the facilities.

Who were your key players?

Javier Pastore, no doubt! Had a fantastic season and his attributes has been so much better.

Leandro Damião scored 29 goals in 44 games. He scored many important goals during the season. Hopefully he will get even better next season.

Nenê has been great as well. Scored 26 goals in total (16 goals in the league) from his wing position.

Some guy on another thread was recommending people to take a peek in here so did just that. Normally don't play in the French leagues; the one year I did it was with Lyon. But this year if I do, it will be with PSG, not because of Pastore or of the money (which by the way is a real lure) but because of the OP. As many people have already observed, there is only one reaction :applause:

An interesting thing that I noticed in the description about the young players was the mention of a Abdallah Yaisien. Now there is a French player with that exact same name in my FM2011 save. He also plays in that attacking midfield position although I converted him to a right winger. Although he didn't become world-class he was a good squad player to have. Always thought that he was a regen since I bought him after two seasons but, guess I was wrong.

Another reason to play with PSG is that there are a lot of good young French players in the game plus over the past few FM versions I have always got plenty of French regens. So it makes it that much easier to create an all French team if someone aims for a long career save.

Looking good mate. For CB, try Kara. If you have the Danish league loaded, you can get him from Tromso for about £1 million at the start of the game. His physicals are immense and he could probably make a great ball-playing defender. You'll have to snatch him up quickly, because a lot of clubs bid for him, including AC Milan on my save. I brought in Paolo Cannavaro and he's done a great job for me - reasonable fee and wages as well. But if it's youth you're after, and you have a decent budget, take a look at Ezequiel Munoz, Mateo Musacchio, or Leonel Galeano. All of those look good again this year.

EDIT 2: Signed Dawson.

Speaking of Gameiro, he just broke his leg right at the end of March to rule him out for the rest of the season. It might be a blessing, he had played 20, 4 goals, 6 assists, average rating of 6.96 - he was frustratingly getting into great positions but failing to score, it became a confidence thing as a goal drought grew. Still, he has been extremely unlucky with long term injuries this season so I'm not sure I can truly judge him.

END OF SEASON REVIEW

Well, well, well that was an interesting season... From the down's being put out the cup early to Bordeoux & dumped out of the Europa League in the first knockout stage by Sevilla, to the up's of winning the French Cup and Ligue 1 with one game to go! A lot of my downfull was tactical incoinsistancy, i'm keeping the 4-2-3-1 which i'll work on again but the 4-4-2 i used was stable enough for the remainder of the season.

All of my signings really performed, Moussa Sow being the stand out :

Marvin Martim took his time to bed in but i feel we'll see the best of him come season 2, of course sharing the midfield with the Prince of Paris...Mr Pastore isn't easy but towards the end of the season he started to look the part :

A great debut season, he really impressed on the limited apperances and definetly the long term replacment for Nene.

Have been seriously looking at Yann M'Vila & Moussa Sissoko, think i'll wait untill season 3 before i decide unless another club makes a move for them. My other target are a RB & an AMR funnily enough i'm thinking of going for Sochaux's right hand side, Sebastien Corchia & Ryan Babadoulz(SP?).

Been given a starting budget of £14m so will perhaps raise some through selling Mo Sissoko, Bodmer & Bisevic.

Thanks for reading, any thoughts of tips please respond....

I went for Kara at the start of the game but was beaten by Besiktas Will take a look at Munoz, Musacchio and Galeano

EDIT: Mateo Musacchio is on loan at Juventus. Just bid for Munoz and Galeano. Also went for Dawson from Spurs. They want 8.6M for him? Shall i go for him?

EDIT 2: Signed Dawson.

Have a look at Dede, great for me.

A very nice domestic double there and you seem to know where you want to improve to mould the squad to fit your system so the future looks good. I was also surprised to see Lyon finish 9th, no doubt they'll be looking to come back with vengeance if they can hold onto their players. Good luck in season 2!
