That crossed my mind too, but I discarded the idea purely because of the amount of money involved.

In the real world, I suppose the club would be ripe for a takeover, and this also may explain the lack of actibvity in the transfer market, (transfer embargo).

Maybe this could be it icon14.gif.

And the new board would obviously want to bring in their own manager. That could be another reason icon14.gif.

Nothing that spectacular, the interesting stuff is all down to their performances on the field.

Which have been excellent icon_smile.gif

I can say, as even I don't know how the season will end, but they could get promoted (dependent on the last five games).

In addition, they've been on telly knocking Premiership opposition out of the cup on more than one occasion.

That should help the old reputation icon_smile.gif

It's hard to place just how much rides on these last five games.

If they lose them, their ageing stars will probably start to leave (in truth, they will anyway), and they'll be back to square one, rebuilding.

If they go up, the can replace them properly.

I'll know soon.....

I've done something very similar myself, the only real differences are that:

- I put three line-ups of players with varying ability (but all very high PA -8 to -10 and quite high CA 130-150) in the Yeading squad.

- I boosted the training/youth facilities to max but left the club rep and stadium as it was.

- I managed them myself.

My conclusions so far:

- It's very dull as whatever line-up you put out is almost guaranteed to win.

- Most of the players I set as dual nationality opted to play for a low rep nation at 17 rather than wait for an inevitable England call-up.

- Pre-season takes forever as you're subjected to 2-15 bids/enquiries per day. Despite the interest from clubs ranging from Doncaster to Chelsea, pretty much the entire squad signed a contract extension.

- Even by the halfway mark of the season I was often not the favourite to win the match, despite barely dropping a point and having a ludicrous goal difference.

- My AM keeps telling me that players have no future at the club - despite being better in their position by a long way in comparison to every other player in the division.

Heard about this thread yesterday, and just sat and read it today, all 11 pages, and it took me about an hour and a half..

Its def the best experiment and best thread on here, congrats to kipfizh for doing all this, its an awesome thread...

Can't believe how Man Utd are doing!! :O

Would you be able to tell me how Wycombe are doing? Huge Wycombe fan here, interested to see how they are doing after many seasons

KUTGW mate, and hope the bandits get better as the seasons pass... Although 80000 per game in League 2 is pretty crazy haha icon_biggrin.gif

Might be interesting to see if players return to the Bandits as their careers start to slow....

In reading robin_trott_hoof's assessment, i think it would be interesting to see, whether it is easier for a human manager to keep players at a club for longer than AI players. As we know in real life, pressures from all round lead to this being impossible, but i can remember in many a game where I've been able to keep superiorly gifted players at lower levels for long periods.

Well Standardly:

We had plenty of offers in the 06-07 season, but the summer 07 window took forever due to offers/enquiries/speculation. Despite every player saying he'd like to join every interested team, none left and none are unhappy.

Aside from that, my Chinese born midfielder was the first of the duel nationality players to opt to play for England (U19 level).

If there's anymore interest in this, I'll start a new thread - don't want to impose on kipfizh's fine work any further.

KUTGW kipfizh. For my money, promotion with no transfer activity would be a phenomenal achievement. Maybe they also knocked Man Ure out of one of the cups?

Looking forward to an ex-Bandit coming back as player-manager and the rest as player-coaches following him.

Sorry for the longish post, it's been building for a while. Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

Another here eagerly awaiting the next installment in my new soap opera icon_wink.gif

Hoping we have our first ex-Bandit returning home to see out his playing days, with a view to management of his beloved team.

Maybe The Bandits knocked his current team out of a cup, and he saw the error of his ways all those years ago, and he returns to make things right !

How about favored personnel, are most of them linked?

As far as I can remember, about half of them had one favourite player when they left the Bandits.

Now, they all have their current teams as favourite teams as they're so loyal they've been there for such a long time. Managers and colleagues are on the list too, and especially at Chelsea a lot of them are linked.

I'll get you the full list later.

Sorry for the delay folks, the report is finally ready!

League

FA Cup: 5th Round

League Cup: 1st Round

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy: Finalist

Last season’s snoozefest was a precursor to the best season in the Bandits’ sixteen year history. They established themselves at the top of the league very early on, and stood proud in top spot almost all season from then on. They actually secured promotion with plenty of time to spare, and finished 12 points clear of the playoffs, and their title win should’ve been more secure – they got only one point from their last four games once promotion had been sealed, and only a final day draw by Brentford prevented them throwing away the title in dramatic fashion.

In the cups they were no less impressive. Although they went out of the League Cup early, they reached the national final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, winning the Southern section. This is even more impressive when you consider that League One sides enter this competition, and the Bandits knocked out three of them – Southend, Exeter, and Wycombe – on their journey to the final.

They looked like claiming a fourth higher division scalp in the final when they took an early lead against Carlisle (who finished third in League One), but keeper Nick Law was sent off after eight minutes and that allowed the favourites to come back to win 2-1.

Normally that cup run would be the highlight of the season, but it comes third in the success story, behind promotion and the FA Cup. In round 1 they claimed their fourth League One scalp, knocking out Plymouth, before Accrington were dispatched in round 2.

Then came the plum draw – home in the third round against Premiership Watford, and Bryant and Kinch were the goalscoring heroes in a 2-1 victory. Next up were Fulham at home. The biggest test so far, Fulham were struggling in the Premiership after their usual high finishes, but were a strong outfit nonetheless, and the TV stations had started taking notice, choosing the match to be featured live.

It was a good decision – a double from Bryant secured an excellent 2-1 victory, and Fulham, with 39 year old Ben Foster still in goal, were sent packing.

After claiming their sixth higher division cup scalp of the season, the Bandits were given the draw they desperately wanted in round five – home to Chelsea, the club holding the registration to no fewer than ten of the Bandits’ former stars. It was going to be an emotional day for everyone involved, but the Bandits gave as good as they got, eventually losing a surprisingly even game 2-0, with goals from former favourites Striker 2 and Striker 3.

With the league sewn up and six higher division cup scalps taken, two from the Premiership, it is even more incredible to think that this was one of the weakest Bandits squads to date. They made no signings in the summer, one in January, and two more in April when promotion was already sewn up. Has Gary Perry finally figured out how to mould this squad together, or was this the flukiest season to date?

Either way, it was a stunning success for the Bandits, and the reputation rise they will have from both promotion and the television coverage of their cup run will be huge.

Congratulations all round.

Notes: Finally becomes the last player to start losing CA, but has an excellent season, conceding only one goal per game as Arsenal rise back up to second place. Still plays for England, and now has 61 caps, but with his ambition rising to 3 he is now listed as considering his options. Still has three years to run on his current contract though. The problems he is having may be internal – he was actually part of a newspaper story this season, with the media claiming that he was finding Danny Farrell difficult to work with. He did show some dissent though this season, after Mike Newell sold star Peter Vass he was extremely unhappy, but it hasn’t affected his performances.

Wins the Premiership with Chelsea and may be getting the reward for sticking with the club even when they weren’t playing him. Notes: What can you possibly say about him that hasn’t already been said? A truly remarkable level of performance, for club and country, and incredibly scores 13 goals in 12 internationals this season to storm past the century mark, scoring 102 goals in 128 caps. A legend for club and country, it took him to open the scoring to knock the Bandits out of the cup. No shame in that. Wins a Premiership medal with Chelsea. Notes: With the success of Strikers 1 and 2, someone had to play a lot less, and despite stringing together some amazing performances and scoring freely, it was Striker 3, who is a reserve at club level, and for his country, where he reaches 51 caps with 17 goals. Just manages enough appearances to claim a Premiership medal, but will he make the move his career so desperately needs? The only time in his career that he’s ever been first choice was on loan at Sheff Utd 15 years ago.

Quite what Liverpool will do without him remains to be seen. Reaches 84 caps with 51 goals. Comes third in European Striker of the Year.

2021-22, Palermo, CA 144: Apps 25, Gls 4, Asts 4, MoM 2, YC 2, RC 6, Avg 7.36

Notes: He has been quiet for the past two seasons, but Leeds certainly saw something they didn’t want – a whole load of offers came in for him last summer, including many loan offers, and all of them were accepted. He chose Palermo in Italy, and their fans were not particularly thrilled by the signing, a point he hit back on.

He plays better than he has done in years, but there are two major problems. Firstly, his CA is dropping like a stone, another year or two and he would struggle to make the Bandits team. Secondly, his disciplinary record is absolutely shocking, with him taking six early baths in only 25 games for his club.

He was quiet throughout the season though, but Palermo are a decent side – they were in the Champions League this season, getting knocked out in the group stage.

His international career, standing at three goals in 49 caps, appears over.

2021-22, Derby, CA 149: Apps 25 (7), Gls 5, Asts 6, MoM 2, YC 2, RC 0, Avg 7.16

Notes: Allows his contract at Sunderland to expire before joining Derby, but on departure has a pop at Sunderland manager Stuart Gray, saying he was delighted to ‘get rid of him’. The very next day, Gray becomes Arsenal manager anyway.

Former Derby favourite Stephen Bywater is worried by the signing, and the idiot hits back, telling him not to pre-judge him. Of course, at 32, his personality is well known.

He plays reasonably well for a Derby side that finish 16th, but does cause the odd problem, refusing to sign a new contract because they were asking him to take a pay cut, and then being the subject of rumours suggesting he was at loggerheads with team-mate Ian Butler.

His CA slide is not so dramatic this season, but like his idiot compatriot, his international career appears over at 61 caps with nine goals.

Just for a change, England dominated their World Cup qualifying group, winning ten from ten without conceding a goal. This has happened so many times now, but with the stars getting old it may not happen again.

It is World Cup year, and with Slovenia, Ghana and USA in their group, England will look to sail through the group stage.

Chelsea retained the Premiership comfortably, ahead of Arsenal who finished nine points back. Liverpool recovered well and surprise package Scunthorpe easily avoided relegation in their second stint in the top league.

Premiership

Newcastle flirted with relegation, but recovered to escape comfortably and also win the FA Cup, beating holders Liverpool in the final, while Birmingham pipped Leeds in the final.

Real Madrid won their fourth Champions League in five years (they lost in the final the other year), nicking it from Chelsea on penalties, while Roma claimed the UEFA Cup ahead of Gelsenkirchen.

Summary

What a phenomenal season for the Bandits. Cup success on two fronts, knocking out four League One clubs and two Premiership clubs, and finally promotion to League One by winning the division. The flip side is the aging squad, with many players needing replacement as soon as possible. But the level of player available now that they are in League One is such that serious squad strengthening could and should happen.

They came up against some of their ex-players in the cup this season, and those players are simply amazing. Their CAs are barely dropping – they all turn 33 this summer but throughout the season their combined CA drop was 28, an average of only just over one per player. The lowest CA is still a whopping 185, the highest 194. At that rate, they can play until they’re 40, but given their abilities may become managers long before that. What will they do? Become player managers?

The idiots on the other hand are losing their abilities fast, and aren’t that much better than the sort of players the Bandits will be after this summer. Both seem to be growing up a little as they realise they simply aren’t wonderful players anymore, but what will happen next? Will their clubs struggle? Will they hate not being first choice as their managers realize they’ve lost their abilities?

Idiot A’s disciplinary record is appalling this season, he clearly didn’t adapt to Italian referees, with six red cards in only 25 games.

The big teams all did better this season – Chelsea and Arsenal coming first and second, Liverpool improving, and Man Utd winning the Championship – can they all be successful next season?

Chelsea have started preparing for life after the ex-Bandits, signing left sided 23 year old Frenchman Remi Pereira from Leeds for 44m. His season average of 6.37, however, suggests that the move was not a wise one. Meanwhile, their ex-captain John Terry became manager of Everton, and is a superb coach, with 19s across the board for training abilities.

In Europe, the dominant side are Real Madrid, who have appeared in the last five Champions League finals, winning four of them. And who was at the helm for this season’s success? None other than Dennis Wise.

The final point is that of wages – despite being in the Championship, Man Utd, perhaps out of necessity, pay the most to the stars – their two ex-Bandits are currently on 125k and 110k a week. Not bad.

Bandit’s former manager watch

Justin Edinburgh’s Sheff Wed bounced straight back to the Championship, winning League One and avoiding playing the Bandits next season.

Steve Brackstone improved Blackburn slightly to finish a solid 12th in the Championship.

Unsurprisingly, the number of players interested in joining the Bandits has leapt up, rising from 5173 to 5750, and not only that, there are some excellent looking players on the list. How many will Gary Perry splash out on?

Liversidge, D/AM L, 32, 79-109 (-6)

Last season I predicted that this team would struggle unless they brought in quite a few players in the summer. They brought in absolutely none, and then proceeded to dominate the league, and perform extremely well in the cups, which shows what I know.

The worries still remain, however. Wells is now a reserve to Kinch and Bryant up front, and is getting worse, but so is Kinch now, and without signings Bryant may be stranded. The key to their success has always been a free scoring front pair, but will any of them score in League One?

The squad is still, CA-wise anyway, extremely weak, and will surely struggle in League One. However, the players interested in joining have rocketed up in quality, so surely Gary Perry will see sense this summer and bring a whole bunch in. That said, stability seems to have paid off this time around.

Onwards to League One!

They no longer have a 120 CA player, and are overall still easily worse off than where they were two seasons ago. Was it a fluke that they had such a storming season, or were enough players peaking at the right time?

Either way, signings are needed, but fortunately, a division rise should facilitate that.

Meanwhile, Man Utd have plummeted, they used to be in the top three but now languish in 18th. Maybe those ex-Bandits need a pay cut.

Cheers for the update Kipfizh, great news on the Bandits getting promotion at last - I thought that after last season and with no additions of not to their squad they were heading for more mid-table obscurity. Got a feeling that they could easily be relegated next season though.

Is it wierd that I was more interested in this update than SI's announcement this morning?! icon_confused.gif

Promotion to league 1 is excellent news, well done bandits!

Isn't it crazy how they have so much money but won't spend any of it?

Thanks for the update kip icon14.gif

If the Bandits don't sign some quality players in the transfer window I reckon they'll go straight back down.

Any chance you could give us an update during the window to let us know if they bought anyone?

Is Mike Newell the Liverpool manager? icon_confused.gif It would never happen. Where did Rafa go?

Considering how cheap Striker 3 is valued at and good his goals to games ratio is im really surprised no other premiership team ahs shown an interest in him. He is barely playing and must be looking for regular games.

Have any teams bid for him kip??
